The calmest beach in Phuket without waves. Tri Trang Beach Phuket reviews. Description of the best beaches in Phuket

Phuket has many quality beaches and they are all different. If you are interested in which Phuket beaches have no waves, a calm sea and where you can swim with pleasure, then this is what we will talk about now. During the high season, from December to March, the sea is calm on almost all beaches, some are especially quiet. And in the off-season, almost all beaches have waves.

Where are there no waves in Phuket? For example, the sea in Bangtao is usually calm!

Beach with no waves in Phuket

1. Tritrang is a beach where there are never waves. This is where the Tri Trang Beach Resort is located. You can also get to Tri Trang from Patong; some tourists walk (45 minutes), others take a tuk-tuk. You can swim at Tri Trang Beach without waves in Phuket even during the rainy season. Sometimes the tide may be low during the day, then swimming is a bummer.

2. Paradise is the second beach without waves in Phuket at any time of the year. Paradise Beach paid beach. Entrance costs 200 baht, sometimes 500. Paradise is located near Tri Trang, a few kilometers from Patong. You can get there on your own at free bus. All our tourists recommend waiting for the bus on the beach street near the large letters “Patong Beach” opposite Bangla Road.

3. Bangtao is another one of the calmer beaches, but not always. During the rainy season, there are also waves here, but they are much smaller than on Karon or Surin due to the shallow bottom. Bang Tao is a long, uncrowded beach located in the north of the island. We came here in different months and the sea was always calm, there were practically no waves, neither in October nor in May.

Tired of it big waves in the sea? Come to Bangtao - a beach without waves in Phuket!

This beach has an ideal sea, both for adults who do not like big waves, and for families with children. Perhaps Bangtao is the place where there are the most mothers with small children. Even now, at the end of the season, when most beaches are already experiencing storm waves, Bang Tao is completely calm. Read photos and details about this beach in our article -

We have a wonderful selection of housing options in the article. Here are 3 good hotels in brief:

Kata Noi Beach

Here the sea is calm only during the peak season - December, January, February and March. You can swim with children on the right and left sides of the beach. There are waves in the middle. We like to relax on the left side near the stones in the shade of the trees. This is what the beach and sea look like from there:

In the central part more people and there are waves. Sometimes the sea seems calm, but then 2-3 big waves pass in a row. There is no such thing in the corners of the beach; you can always swim and snorkel calmly there.

There are quite a lot of vacationers with children on this beach. It’s better to go to the farthest corner of the beach, where the water barely ripples, and swimming will be a pleasure. Kata Noi is one of best beaches in Phuket. It is adjacent to the popular Kata Beach, which is easily accessible on foot. Just remember that there are no waves here only in the winter months. Yanui Beach

Most people ignore or are completely unaware of this tiny beach in the south of the island, but there is not even a hint of any wave on it. Perfectly flat water surface even in windy conditions.

When planning your holiday from November to April, Januy will be what you need if you want to avoid even the slightest wave. However, the beach has its own characteristics. The bottom is rocky; at low tide it will be inconvenient to enter the water without swimming shoes. Read more about this beach here -

Whatever one may say, you can’t find waves on Yanui during the season

Patong Beach

Surprised? Patong is one of those beaches in Phuket that has no waves and is great for swimming during the winter months.

Anyone who doesn't want to be scared by the waves should come to Patong!

No matter how much they scold Patong Beach, there are no waves on it at all during the season and even closer to the off-season. The best time for Patong is from December to April. And the sea is not only free of debris and transparent, but also suitable for those who like to just swim slowly and not run away from the waves. Read more about Patong here -

We hope that our selection of Phuket beaches that really have no waves will help you in the future decide on your holiday destination on one of best resorts in Thailand. If you arrive in the winter months, even on Karon the sea will most often be calm.

But from April to November the sea will be stormy on most popular beaches. Where there are no waves in Phuket even in the low season, in May, June, July and August, is Bangtao. It is also always calm in the Panwa and Rawai areas, but swimming there is not an option and there is nothing to do in the evening.

The weather on the island of Phuket, as on any other island, is subject to monsoons. From December to March there is hot, dry weather, and from April to November the winds begin to blow, which bring with them bad weather and heavy downpours, and the rainy season begins. With the arrival of the monsoons, not only bad weather hits the island, but also waves form in the sea. Sometimes they reach 3 meters. They bring various types of garbage and “throw” it ashore, which means the beaches become not very clean.

Some tourists come to Thailand during the rainy season and see all this “beauty”. They have the wrong opinion about the beaches of the island. Where is the promised bounty? In order not to be disappointed, you need to choose the right holiday time, namely from December to April.

What a sea in Phuket

Oddly enough, many people don’t know what sea is in Phuket, so - let’s open the veil of secrecy - in Phuket the Andaman Sea! The Andaman Sea is part Indian Ocean. So now you know what kind of sea is in Phuket :)

When are the waves big in Phuket?

While from April to May you can still carefully flounder in the water, the biggest waves occur in June-August, when swimming becomes dangerous and difficult.

The situation is generally favorable, the influence of low tides is practically not noticeable. They come especially rarely to the northern part of the beach.

Kalim

This is just Northern part Patong beach. The entry into the sea at Kalima is quite rocky and during low tides sharp stones and rocks are exposed. However, at the same time, along with the stones, various marine inhabitants become visible, which can now be seen without even going into the water.

The ebb tides are almost invisible.

The water goes very far, but it good time for bathing children.

Tides and tides do not interfere with swimming.

Little susceptible to changes in water depth.

As we can see, the most popular beaches practically “don’t know” what tides are. All of them are located in the western part of the island. However, it is worth considering that due to large waves and strong wind in the period from April to October, there can be a lot of garbage even at high tide, and especially if no one cleans the beach.

The beaches of Phuket will go in order from north to south, counterclockwise. And to better understand where and what, look at the map of all the beaches at the very bottom of the article, there you can click on a point on the map and follow the link to read detailed description with a lot of photos. You can also download various paper ones.

The first thing you need to know is that there are swimming beaches only in the west of Phuket and in the south. Yes, there are still a couple in the east, but they are just not for everyone.

Best beaches for long stay in my opinion: and . Both are quiet, there are few hotel tourists there, most of the houses are for rent, there is enough infrastructure. There is even a Tesco supermarket in Bang Tao. But when we talk about Nai Harn, we mean that you need to live in the Rawai or Chalong area (that’s where all the houses are for rent), and go to Nai Harn itself by bike or car. In Bang Tao you can live within walking distance from the sea. You can also consider - there is a BigC supermarket, there is housing and the sea will be nearby.

For beach holiday best fit , and . Listed in order of decreasing number of people. But if we talk about the beaches themselves, then Karon will be more beautiful, and Kata will be more comfortable. In general, the best of them, in my opinion, is Kata Noi, but the hotels there are very expensive and there is not enough infrastructure. In principle, no one bothers you to go to Kata Noi to swim, or even walk, if you live on Kata, it’s not far there. For an average budget, I would choose a hotel between Karon and Kata. Then it will turn out that all 3 beaches will be nearby and within walking distance. Plus there is a Makro supermarket on Kata.

I know that many people like a quiet place to relax. It’s good, I don’t argue, but I’m still more in favor of Kata-Karon, somehow they’re nicer, if we’re not talking about the coast, but about the area. If you need places with less infrastructure, then consider. The latter is generally, one might say, rustic.

For lovers of nightlife and parties, there is a direct route to . It not only reminds small town, but also has the most developed infrastructure in the area. Shops, bars, clubs, and a small branch of Pattaya - its own Walking Street. There are also the most budget hotels here.

Main beaches of Phuket

Nai Yang Beach

Nai Yang is located slightly south of the airport. The infrastructure is not particularly developed, there are cafes, hotels, a minimart, and a market off to the side. The place is not very popular, there are not many people on the shore. The central part is best for swimming, there is a fairly quick entrance and sun loungers on the beach with umbrellas. Casuarinas grow on the shore and create shade.

Nai Yang Beach - Nai Yang Beach

Naithon Beach

Not good big beach close to Phuket airport. Creates an impression resort place. There are a lot of people on the shore, near the cafe there are laudatory reviews from guests in Russian. There is a road along the beach, behind which the hotels are located. The buildings here are dense.

Naithon Beach

The next piece of beach, after you go up the mountain, belongs to. They didn’t let me in there, they say it’s private property.

Bang Tao Beach

Bang Tao beach is long, about 5 kilometers. As a rule, they live in its southern part, because in the northern part there are very few hotels, houses for rent, cafes and shops. There are rather vacant lots and a few cafes on the shore. In general, Bang Tao can be characterized as quiet place. Very detailed, and briefly below.

North Bang Tao. There are very few people on the beach, one might say almost no one at all. There may be large waves that are not suitable for small children. The depth increases quite quickly. The water is clean and the sand is medium in size. The beach strip is wide and separated from the road by a casuarina grove and a fence. There is shade from the trees only in the first half of the day. There are entrances to the beach only where there are cafes. Large parking near the Nikki Beach Hotel.

The middle of Bang Tao. Continuous resorts around lakes, pretentious and expensive place. The main area is occupied by Laguna Beach Resort. The road runs right along the beach and between it and the shore there are cafes in a row. Right there it ends somewhere, a dead end. And to get to the southern part of Bang Tao you need to go back a little (to the north), around the Lagoon. There is parking near Moevenpick Resort, free for everyone at the time of filming. The sand is fine. There are already more people here than in the northern part, but it’s still quite normal. But from the middle to the south there are much more people. Shade will most likely have to be obtained here with the help of umbrellas.

South Bang Tao. Dense and cramped buildings, many hotels, shops, cafes, long-term homes. There is a normal Tesco. The main road passes here one and a half km from the beach and goes to Surin Beach. The rest of the paths are narrow, it’s a bit cramped for a car, it’s better to ride a bike. The main entrance to the beach is approx. Bangtao Beach Resort, although you can also go through other resorts. There are quite a lot of people on the shore, plenty of sun loungers. The depth does not increase quickly, but you don’t have to go too far. You can look for shade under casuarina trees (in the first half of the day) and under umbrellas.

Surin Beach

Pansy Beach is located near Surin. I couldn’t get to it, I ran into a resort and a barrier, but you can get there on foot, they let you in without any problems.

Surin Beach

Kamala Beach

Kamala beach is long and the infrastructure depends on the part where you stay, in this regard it is similar to Bang Tao. And in the same way it gives the impression of a calm and “village” beach, because there is no nightlife at the resort. More, but read briefly below.

North of Kamala. From Surin you can get here through a pass; the road runs along the coast. This part of the beach has little housing and many empty spaces. Between the road and the beach there is some kind of fenced off area, inside it there are only trees and vacant lots. All hotels are located across the road from the shore. There are enough people on the shore, but not to say that there are very many. The sand is very fine near the water, but closer to the larger trees. The depth increases quickly, which is convenient for adults. There is shade from casuarinas only in places and in the first half of the day.

Middle of Kamala. The road leaves the coast towards land. There are a lot more people in this part of the area. Dense development starts from here and goes to South Kamala. There is a mini Tesco, a small BigSi, the entire infrastructure is located from the middle to the south. The beach is the same as in the north, only the depth increases much more slowly. Despite the hotels and the “city”, I liked the atmosphere, not very touristy.

South of Kamala. In the very south, the road again runs along the beach, however, no longer the main one (it goes to Patong), but a secondary one. The beach runs right along this road, there are almost no people, natural garbage lies on the sand. In the south and south-middle there is a long entrance; you have to walk about 50 meters through the water.

Patong Beach

Patong Beach is the most famous beach on the island. Some call it a branch of Pattaya because it has almost everything there is in terms of nightlife. In fact, this is where they come to hang out. And also on the tour, most packagers end up here. There are a lot of people here, both on the shore and in the city. Yes, this is the most real city with traffic jams, busy traffic, and shopping centers.

Patong Beach

Karon Beach

You can get to Karon through a small pass from Patong, and from the south side from Kata Beach, which smoothly flows into Karon. There is infrastructure and hotels all over, I didn’t notice much of a difference. The road runs along the coast almost everywhere, and between it and the coastline there is only sand and trees, that is, you can enter the beach at any point. The beach is popular, but not as busy as Patong, although there are not much fewer people on the shore. In the Karon Park area there is a pond and some empty spaces.

Nai Harn Beach

Nai Harn Beach

Not the main beaches of Phuket

Mai Khao Beach and Sai Kaew Beaches

Mai Khao Beach - Mai Khao Beach

Banana Beach

Banana Beach

Laem Sing Beach

Laem Sing is a very small beach. It is clearly visible from the viewpoint near the road. There is no access to the beach. You need to leave your vehicle at the top of the road and go down the mountain path. The Thais did paid entrance to the beach and paid parking. Moreover, there is very little space for this, and during the season, at best, you will only find somewhere to stick the bike. But, if you’re not too lazy to walk a hundred meters, then from Laem Sing towards Kamala there will be a couple of places along the road (one of them is near a garbage dump) where you can even park your car. Or, as an option, park at the viewpoint.

The beach is average in terms of crowding. Its area is small, so it depends on the influx of tourists. Depth increases with average speed. Large blocks stick out from the water; at low tide they are completely exposed. More.

Laem Sing Beach

A small piece of beach in Kamala Bay near the Aquamarine Resort & Villa hotel. This is the southernmost part of Kamala. Most likely, it’s not worth going here on purpose, only if you sit in a cafe on the shore, she’s the only one there. Solid resorts, pretty cool. Quiet, calm, no people. The sand is coarse with shells, and there are stones in the water. The shore is narrow, just a few meters in total, but this is at high tide. It takes a relatively long time for the depth to grow. And at low tide the water goes away, and swimming here will be problematic. Read more about this.

Nakalay Beach

The scourge didn’t hit Naklay, I just took a photo from above. Everything there is fenced off by Nakalay Beach Resort, near it there is an inscription on a sign “Do not enter”. From above I didn’t see any of the people on the shore. .

Nakalay Beach

Kalim Beach

To the north, Kalim is a rocky shore, where at low tide the locals collect something all the time, and in general they have some kind of party there. And to the south of Kalima, Patong Beach begins almost immediately.

Kalim Beach

Tri Trang Beach

If we drive south from Patong not along the main road (it goes to Karon), but along the coast, then over the hill we will get to Tri Trang Beach. It is located near the eponymous Tri Trang Resort, there you can also get to the shore itself, near the resort the path goes sharply down. I was a little scared to go. The sand is ordinary, like everywhere else. There are few people, quiet and calm. The beach is short in length. The depth does not increase quickly; at low tide it is unswimmable and there are stones. .

Tri Trang Beach

Freedom Beach

Rovnaya coastline, about 500 meters long, consisting of pure white and fine sand, on one side buried in a real jungle. A small paradise of beaches, once little known, but now quite popular and crowded, despite its isolation and some inaccessibility. The beach is located south of the bustling Patong Beach, behind a forested cape. .

Beach at Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort

The small beach of the Le Meridien hotel, which is surrounded on both sides by green hills covered with tropical vegetation. The sand on the beach is white, fine and clean. The entry into the sea is gentle and comfortable. The water is also clean, azure in color. You can get to the beach from both Patong and Karon in about 10 minutes. Since the hotel stands alone and in a rather secluded place, mainly hotel guests swim on the beach. .

Le Meridian Beach Resort – Le Meridian Phuket Beach Resort

Ao Sane Beach

A very small beach, several tens of meters long. To get there, you need to go right from Nai Harn through the hotel. The road is a dead end. The beach itself has large stones and medium-sized sand. There are usually not many people, and divers come here. .

Ya Nui Beach

Ya Nui Beach

Rawai Beach

Hardly anyone swims on the beach itself. This is a “technical” beach where fishermen’s boats are parked. It’s a good place to sit on the embankment in one of the many cafes, or take a walk along the pier. There are also many rental houses in this area where longsteers live. We ourselves lived here once. The location is also good because it is 10 minutes from Nai Harn. More.

Rawai Beach

Chalong Beach

About the same as Rawai. Boats and speedboats are parked here, but swimming is not allowed. And it’s also convenient to live here, because there is a lot of housing and the infrastructure is also good. Tesco is nearby, and Phuket Town with its shopping centers is also very close.

Map of Phuket beaches

P.S. Some small or private beaches are missing from the review. I will list: the beach of the Trisara Resort hotel, the beach of the Layan Beach Resort, Hua Beach, the beach of the Merlin Beach Resort, Siam Beach, Nui Beach, Laem Ka Beach, Ao Yon Beach, Cape Panwa. Maybe I’ll take pictures of them later, but for now I just marked them on the map.

P.P.S. If you need a hotel in Phuket, then I have a personally compiled one. In general, the choice of housing in Phuket is presented for any budget, all you have to do is choose.

The best beaches in Phuket - descriptions and reviews

    Karon Beach

One of the most popular beaches in Phuket, Karon, delights guests with clean sand and a well-groomed shore.

The beach is suitable for relaxing with children or friends; there are secluded corners and places for active rest. The white sand makes a pleasant creaking sound, the sea remains clear even in the evening, but the road to the hotels takes a few minutes.

There are always a lot of vacationers on the beach, but the territory here is huge: Karon is one of the largest beaches in Phuket. There are cafes, shops, massage parlors, entertainment centers. Infrastructure is also provided for children, and the prices can hardly be called inflated.

    Video about Karon:

    Patong Beach

It is enough to study the reviews of tourists about Phuket to understand: Patong Beach is favorite place youth and thrill-seekers. Discos, parties, bars, musical events - entertainment for every taste.

Another thing is that you will have to fork out for a vacation, and accommodation in nearby hotels will not be cheap.

The downside of Patong is the garbage on the beach - many guests do not care about cleanliness. But there is a magnificent entrance to the sea, a sandy bottom and a slight slope of the coast. If you are relaxing alone or with friends, this is the beach that will help you realize your cherished dreams of an incredible vacation.

    Video about Patong:

    Kata Beach

If you are looking the best beach in Phuket for families with children, you should choose Kata Beach - an uncrowded place with rich infrastructure. Finding a free sun lounger will not be difficult, and the gentle entrance to the sea will delight little travelers. There is a diving club, bars and restaurants.

Fans relaxing holiday people come to Kata Beach, wanting to escape the hustle and bustle: at night it is usually quiet here, nothing will disturb their sleep.

The sand on the beach is white, quite clean, and the water in the sea is azure and blue. By the way, local landscapes will delight lovers beautiful photos: You can bring back numerous photographs from your trip, fortunately the surrounding nature allows this.

    Kamala Beach

Some tourists consider Kamala Beach the best in Phuket, since the hotels on this beach have direct access to the water. For this reason, pensioners, older people, and families with children often gather here.

Measured life goes on as usual, there are always few vacationers, and the sand remains clean throughout the high season.

Another feature of Kamala Beach is its incredible scenery. But you won’t find countless restaurants, bars and attractions here. However, you can order food, and consider silence as an additional advantage.

    Video about Kamala:

    Surin Beach

Rich tourists who arrive in Thailand consider Surin to be the best beach in Phuket - everything there is designed for discerning guests. Working shopping centers, fashionable hotels, stylish boutiques and beauty salons. The restaurants serve elite wines and excellent delicacies, and incredible service is provided on the shore.

The entrance to the sea here is gentle; sometimes there are small stones at the bottom. There are usually not many people - probably they are scared off by the prices.

The landscape captivates with its beauty, and even more exotic is added by pine trees growing instead of palm trees - a rarity for the resort. Holidays on Surin Beach promise to be varied, with sports entertainment provided.

    Video about Surin:

    Nai Harn Beach

In the southern part of the island is one of the best beaches in Phuket - Nai Harn. It is the best because it has a gentle slope to the sea, crystal clear water, soft sand, there are no stones, and there are always few tourists, because these regions are far from the airport. There are plenty of hotels of different price categories here, and the landscape will not leave even the pickiest person indifferent.

In the low season, there is also something to see here: the beach hosts the Royal Regatta, a unique show with the participation of yachts from all over the planet. Naiharn is suitable for relaxing with family and friends. There is little entertainment on the beach: mostly sports recreation, diving and sea adventures. The price of sunbeds is 100 baht.

    Video about Nai Harn beach:

    Nai Thon Beach

When you want to enjoy a quiet holiday, away from the hustle and bustle, secluded under the shade of palm trees, go to Nai Thon Beach. Active entertainment there is none there at all, and the infrastructure is limited to a few shops and restaurants.

In the north of Naithon there is a large hotel complex Pullman Phuket Arcadia, which many tourists choose for a holiday in Phuket.

The low season here is good for surfing - large waves are observed throughout the day. In the summer, families with children come to Naithon Beach in Phuket, because here little guests feel comfortable thanks to gentle entrance to the sea, soft sand and a wide coastal area.

However, there are some drawbacks: prices here are consistently high, you can find a budget option placement will not work.

    Detailed video about Naithon beach:

    Bang Tao Beach

The longest and, according to many reviews, the best beach in Phuket, Bang Tao, attracts tourists with high incomes. It is clean and uncrowded, and there are countless boutiques, restaurants, gaming centers and bars will not let you get bored.

Sports entertainment is also provided here, but large waves can cause discomfort. But for surfing lovers, the place is ideal; in winter, there are even exciting surfing performances.

The distance to the airport is 22 km, the entrance to the sea is gentle, and the sand is sparkling white. This is the best beach in Phuket for people who are not used to saving money on vacation.

    Video about Bang Tao:

    Freedom Beach

Fans of solitude know: Freedom Beach - unique place, lost in the jungle. Nature has framed the shore with dense forests, palm trees and exotic shrubs; you can admire the beach endlessly.

There are few tourists here, so Freedom Beach is suitable for a romantic getaway, and the soft White sand Even children will like it.

There is almost no entertainment, although the fashionable establishments of Patong are located within walking distance, the noise of which can sometimes be heard here. The azure sea is ideal for swimming; even small waves cannot interfere with a carefree holiday. Entrance to the beach is paid - 100 baht.

Stunning video about the beauty of Freedom Beach in Phuket:

    Mai Khao Beach

Mai Khao Beach is located near the airport, but is considered one of the most deserted places, suitable for a secluded holiday. The infrastructure here is poor: only a few cafes serve guests.

On weekends, Thais come here to relax on Mai Khao Beach. Entry into the sea is inconvenient and quite dangerous: the depth begins sharply and right next to the shore, so you should not come to this beach with children. However, any shortcomings of this beach are compensated by the magnificent nature of Phuket, one description of which evokes rave reviews.

    Video about Mai Khao:

    Rawai Beach

Think the beach is a place for swimming? Rawai will dispel any ideas about a holiday destination. This region is a haven for fishermen, a port where boats and ships arrive. And it’s unlikely that you’ll even be able to have a picnic here, but you can:

    • rent a house at the most attractive prices;
    • see firsthand the life of Thais;
    • enjoy the unusual virgin beauty of nature;
    • take a walk along the deserted shore.

Gypsies live on the beach - a local attraction who organize beautiful holidays and performances. At their market you can buy inexpensive products, fish and souvenirs. There is no infrastructure on the beach, but trade is well developed. To get to nice beach, it’s convenient to rent a bike.

Video about the pros and cons of Rawai Beach:

    Nai Yang Beach

Wild Nai Yang Beach may seem like one of the worst places, but only at first glance. It is enough to walk around the surrounding area to understand: in the abandoned area, among dirt and garbage, there are well-kept areas with sun loungers and restaurants. The price of a holiday here is low, there are no waves - the bay is protected by reefs.

The entrance to the sea here cannot be called flat, so the beach is not suitable for everyone. But if you love swimming and diving, then this place is for you. There are always few tourists here, so no one muddies the waters.

    Tri Trang Beach

Another secluded place is Tri Trang Beach, located south of Patong. More recently, only people knew about him local residents, but today Tri Trang Beach is becoming more and more popular. There is no noise and fuss here, the sand strip is wide, there are sun loungers and umbrellas, and thanks to the gentle entrance to the sea, children will enjoy the beach.

Many tourists in their reviews consider this beach to be the best in Phuket for the purity of the water, sandy bottom and a small number of vacationers. Another huge plus of Tri Trang beach is the presence of showers with fresh water where you can wash yourself after swimming.

The disadvantage of this place is low tides, when the rocky bottom is exposed and swimming becomes impossible: The water level becomes too low, and if you go further into the sea, the sandy bottom gives way to corals. But at low tide you can walk along the beach, admiring the beauty, collect shells, visit bars, relax in massage parlors and boutiques.

In a few minutes you can reach Patong, famous nightlife and mind-blowing entertainment.
