Searching with a large metal detector coil on the beach. Where to look for gold jewelry? On the beach using an underwater metal detector. Types of beach search

Any, even the smallest, beach can have interesting finds

Russia is one of the most promising countries for searching for gold. We are not even talking about gold nuggets of the Urals, Siberia, Far East- why go so far? There is gold in every city, you just need to look closely. No, this is not a bank or a jewelry store, but a very ordinary city beach. Don’t be surprised, it’s the beach - after all, according to ITAR-TASS, on the shores of Italian beaches alone there are lost things worth a total of 25 million euros. And this is one billion rubles!

Russian beaches are no exception. Moreover, there should be much more gold here: after all, only Russians, when going to the beach, do not even think of leaving rings, earrings, bracelets, watches and other jewelry at home. Each of us has probably heard from friends about jewelry lost on the beach. So they lie and wait for at least someone to come for them. Perhaps it will be you. Why not?! You just need to look away from the TV, get off the couch and go to the nearest beach with a metal detector. In Russia, beach search is not yet developed at all; this is not America or Australia, where the beach is searched by search engines from morning until night!

I started doing beach searching with a metal detector three years ago. It's tight, for the sake of gold. My friend Alexander told me about the richness of the beaches, showing me a couple of rings with diamonds that he found on the beach. Without thinking twice, we went to a beach I knew in Torbeevo.

Torbeevo is a recreation center near Moscow, I go there for a steam bath on the weekends. Even I, with my centuries of searching experience, did not think that this tiny beach, 30 meters long, would infect me with gold fever. Having become accustomed to the volume of beaches in the warm regions of Anapa, Thailand and Malaysia, I did not pay much attention to the local “small” beaches. But as it turned out, it was in vain. Within 5 minutes Alexander took out the first silver ring, walking away from the shore with a metal detector only knee-deep, followed by an earring, and then the bite began that would give anyone gold fever. And if you think about it, it’s not without reason that there are so many golden decorations on such a small beach: after all, it’s not ordinary vacationers who often come to the recreation center, but quite wealthy people. And God himself ordered a swim after the bathhouse and a glass. So those same chains with gymnasts and bolts with stones remain in the water.

Until the frosts, until the ice began to interfere with the search, every weekend we went to various beaches in the Moscow region. My catch with the Excalibur metal detector that year amounted to more than 180 grams of gold jewelry, a jar of silver, just a jar, I’m not exaggerating. All the finds can soon be seen in the Irkutsk Treasure Hunting Museum, you can come and see for yourself.

Of course, you can say that you have already collected everything, but that’s the beauty of any beaches, that every year more and more lost decorations remain on their shores.

Professional treasure hunter, owner of the only treasure hunting office in Russia, Vladimir PORYVAEV, told NV about one of the aspects of his unusual profession - “beach searching with a metal detector.”

– I can’t help but get something. When I didn’t have a metal detector, I still couldn’t sit still - I was catching crabs, catching fish. And then this activity came,” Vladimir recalls the beginning of his career as a treasure hunter. – Every year, for more than 15 years in a row, I go to Crimea during the beach season and search for “beach gold” - jewelry that people lose when swimming in the sea and sunbathing on the beach.

Do they really lose so much that you find something every day?

– In our traditions, when going to the beach, we leave on a minimum of clothing and a maximum of jewelry. And there is little trash on the beach to disturb the treasure hunter. Mostly these are labels from cans and caps from beer bottles. Of course, sometimes instead of gold you find children's toys, women's hairpins, cutlery and foil from sweets and cigarettes, which always needs to be unwrapped - often the most valuable things are wrapped in it. One day I unwrapped the foil and there was $50 in it. The beach and coastal area are crowded with people.

And the area here is very limited. It makes sense to explore only those places where people sunbathe and a small coastal area where they swim. The number of finds is distributed approximately like this: I find 70 percent in the water and 30 percent on the beach. My daily catch is up to 10 grams of gold. And not only scrap, but also gold jewelry in excellent condition. And besides gold - modern coins worth 200 rubles.

And where do you put the coins?

– If they lay in salt water for a long time, then they are faded, “eaten by the sea.” A person is unlikely to take them from you. And the machines are accepted without any complaints. IN resort places There are always a lot of slot machines - you can buy coffee, chocolates, or take a toy out of a slot machine. My daughters leave Crimea with 10–20 soft toys each. But coins are a treat for me.

What's real?

- Real gold. Well, silver, of course. As for 30 percent of jewelry found on the beach, they are lost by smart people who know that if they go into the water, there will be a temperature difference of more than 10 degrees. Blood vessels narrow sharply. And the larger and more massive the ring, the easier it is to lose. During water fun, chains break, earrings come unfastened, but first of all, of course, rings are instantly lost. That's why smart people don't go into the water wearing gold jewelry. They take them off, put them in a pack of cigarettes or in the back pocket of their shorts, wrap them in a blanket and go swimming. And when they leave the sea, they forget about these actions. Russian traditions also include the custom of drinking copious amounts of libation on the beach. When they remember the gold, kids have already run around this place, or they put on shorts to go buy cigarettes and took them off again, or they shook out the sand from the blanket. In general, in the end everything goes to me.

When you walk along the beach with a metal detector, don't people worry?

– Of course, when there are people on the beach, it happens that I ask them to move. I don’t climb under the sun lounger, I try to follow the rules of decency. But basically, of course, it is better to search on the beach after 6–7 pm, when there are still two hours before darkness sets in. And later I use a headlamp. My two daughters also got hooked on the beach search.

How old are they?

- Four and a half and eleven and a half. The eldest on land overtakes me easily and naturally. And under water, she uses a “childish” search method - either she simply collects jewelry from the bottom that lies on the surface, or she stands vertically and erodes the soil with her flippers. If there are coins and jewelry there, they will ring, and all that remains is to collect them from above. But this, of course, is self-indulgence. Mostly my daughter climbs in the sand with my device. And you know, the Lord loves children and drunks... My best finds were not sober, and she, like a child, is sometimes amazingly lucky, even finding rings with diamonds. I once had an interesting case. I'm sitting on the beach and getting ready to dive. I put on a belt with weights, put on my fins, and checked the instruments. Before going into the water, you should definitely check the device - you never know, maybe it’s flooded and doesn’t work. I bring it to the lead weights - it beeps. I put it down on the sand nearby - it squeaks! I scoop up a handful of sand and pull out a huge gold chain with a giant cross. I didn’t dive that time. But I dive thanks to the second category of vacationers.

How do vacationers from the second category lose gold?

“They are not such wise people as the first ones; they go into the water without taking off anything.” In the water they dive, tumble, play, drown each other, row vigorously with their hands. As a result, the gold remains in the sea, and there is much more of it there than in the sand.

What is the search technology?

– The most favorable surface for search engines is sand and small pebbles. To search in water, it is very important to lie firmly on the bottom so that the body is not driven by the waves. In the water, the finds are distributed approximately as follows - at a waist-deep depth, there is mainly children's jewelry. The main valuable finds occur in a stripe at a depth from “children’s” to approximately one meter 80 centimeters. Then there are mostly heavy wedding rings of those who really swim. The width of these stripes on different banks can be different, the main thing is the depth.

The coins are located differently - most of them are opposite the descent from the embankment to the beach. There are also a lot of coins in the breakwater area - before leaving, people approach the sea, throw a coin from these places and leave to get ready for the journey. In these places you don’t need a metal detector; you can simply tear up the soil with your hands and get out coins. With one gulp of air I get up to three coins. At a depth of two meters you work on your breath; it is impossible to use any scuba gear, because you have to literally crawl under the feet of the swimmers.

And how do swimmers react to this?

“In the summer, I shave my head and grow a beard, so when I suddenly emerge in a wetsuit and mask, people start screaming in fear. Well, even when I’m lying motionless at the bottom, people also start screaming that there’s a drowned person here, or they’re trying to pull me ashore by my fins.

And when the swimmers leave you alone, how does the search go?

– When you work on breathing, the main thing is a very clear localization of the object. To do this, I have a white stone in my hand. For example, I started raking the soil, but I don’t have enough air. I leave the stone where it is, take a fresh breath of air and return to my white stone. This is especially important when the sea is stormy, so as not to be carried to a new place. My equipment includes a mask with diopters (since I wear glasses). In order for me to comfortably spend about 40 minutes under water, I have a wetsuit with special holes for scuba gear. But this is optional. I attach nine kilograms of weight to my belt so that I can lie powerfully on the bottom and not “sway” from the waves. I lie down on the bottom and slowly crawl. In front of me is a metal detector the size of two large soap dishes, and I am slowly monitoring the ground in front of me. Hearing the trill, I rake the soil and find a coin or jewelry there.

Can you only search in the sea?

– If the search area is not the sea, but ponds, lakes, swimming areas in middle lane Russia, then the efficiency there is many times greater. The sea throws out gold, and gold has been accumulating in ponds and lakes since the 20s and 30s. I have had cases when in one “dive” lasting 40 minutes I picked up six wedding rings. But this work is more serious and difficult - there is more silt.

Do people contact your office for help in finding lost items?

– With a request to find a loss in the water – about ten times per season. On average, I find about 70 percent of lost items. At the same time, we stipulate that everything that I find besides this belongs to me. And the lost item is very clearly described before starting work. For example, once during such work I found five rings, but I couldn’t find what was lost, it didn’t work out. Often they came up right on the beach with requests - look for it. I found it and gave it away for free. So I’m not completely a lost person for society yet...

It’s winter outside, a meter of snow lies on the ground. And I wanted to remember warm summer days, when the rays of the sun are reflected in the surface of the water. And on the beach there are crowds of people swimming and sunbathing. And at the same time they lose their money and jewelry! Today we're talking about a beach cop.

Beach search is quite a troublesome task and can only be done by patient searchers, the most stubborn of them. Why? I myself dug on the beaches several times and found nothing except hundreds of corks and several tens of rubles in change. But after all, people are lucky and fans of their craft come across some pretty worthy finds: silver, gold and precious stones.

For beach searching, absolutely any metal detector will do. Both entry level and professional. But it’s worth mentioning the reel. Due to the heavy litter in these places, searching with a large coil will be extremely difficult. Literally everything will ring. Typically, small diameter sniper coils are used. But standard mono coils ASEC 150-250 and graters 305 are also suitable. Also new Go-Find devices from Minelab. Waterproof devices are especially welcome in beach digging. After all, in search of gold you will probably go into the water.

More finds can be found in the recreation area, where people undressed and lay, and in shallow water, where people ran into the water and jewelry flew off with a whistle. But there will be corks and foil everywhere. Not a single beach can do without it, no matter how much it is cleaned. All these items give a stable signal, especially for budget devices.

What do you find on the beaches? Numerous corks, pull tabs from cans, foil. From the more or less normal, loose change, keys and cell phones spilled out of pockets. But jewelry is rarely found. But all those who like to wander along the beach with the device are hunting for it. Well, and various kinds of fishing equipment: lost sinkers, hooks and spoons. I even found a whole box with a set of hooks and sinkers!

It’s good to dig with a shovel sandy beaches. Yes, there are such things. For example, at village ponds. And on the sand, the faithful fiskar will already be weak. Scup is used instead. This is a bucket with a bunch of holes, which is used to scoop up sand in the place of a probable find. All the sand disappears through the holes, but the find remains. Convenient, isn't it?

More interesting will be the Soviet beaches, which are no longer used in our century. I had to somehow dig on this. There was relatively little trash. And the finds are from the late Soviets of the 60-80s of the last century. But I never found any jewelry 😥 .

And the most delicious beaches in terms of finds date back to Tsarist times. Have you seen imperial copper made of sand, clay and silt? She is in such a state as if the coin was dropped yesterday. After all, in silt and clay without access to oxygen, even the patina on a coin does not grow.

After digging on several beaches, I came to the conclusion that this is not my thing at all. I have never found so much garbage anywhere else! I’d rather rustle the house hole than go to the beach :) But perhaps you will be lucky to dig up the long-awaited saffron milk cap, lost by swimmers. Try, dig. Trying is not torture :)

I don’t often go to the beach with a metal detector, although it does happen, as I’ve written about several times. If you think about it, beach search is interesting because you are guaranteed to find finds there. And this does not depend on where this beach is located: somewhere on the international and popular resort, or near a local village, where cows are grazed and bathed.

The thing is that beaches usually don’t just appear, and if the beach was formed naturally (who wants to know how this happens, you can read special literature), then people do not ignore such places, and if there are people, that means there will be finds. As a rule, the river on one side (near one bank) has a steep bank, depths, and on the other side there is a beach, although there are variations.

All in all, - this is a whole story, and almost all manufacturers of metal detectors, taking into account the interest of search engines in beach search, have developed and continue to develop “beach” devices specifically for them. Roughly speaking, this also includes metal detectors that are used underwater, but there are some nuances. In addition to the devices themselves, there is a whole series of search coils for beach search. Most often these are sniper rifles, since walking around with a regular coil modern beach- this is torment.

When is the best time to go beach searching?

Many search engines open the beach season with the onset of cold weather, when there are no swimmers. And, as a rule, they are the ones who skim the first cream. But this does not mean that the search is subsequently useless. And that's what it's all about. In the spring, when the reservoir overflows, and if it is a river, there is also a current, then a lot of interesting things are carried away in streams from the main channel and from areas that were near the water.

For example, if you don’t get into the water with a conventional device (not every search engine does this, let’s face it), then during the spring flood something might wash up on the shore, and when the water recedes, you’re welcome to the beach. I once walked along a beach that was washed very diligently in the fall, and it would seem that it was simply unrealistic to find anything significant there.

Imagine the surprise of the comrades when I picked up the chain, and an hour later the earring. And this is in the place where they already went with a metal detector. The thing is that people walked in the fall, and in the spring there was water, something was washed away, carried away, and something, on the contrary, washed ashore. So it turns out that beach search, just like search in the forest or in the fields, has its own characteristics and subtleties. Don’t be lazy to walk along the beach in the spring, even if you “cleaned” it in the fall.

The scourge of today's beach for treasure hunters is the corks and pull tabs from cans. It seems that you can get rid of them by properly setting up the discriminator, but in this case you will definitely miss out on some pleasant finds. It’s difficult to give any practical advice here. In my opinion, don’t be lazy, take your time and look for all the interesting signals. Well, if you don’t find something worthwhile, at least clean the beach of garbage.

Not far away summer season, therefore, it’s digging season. Of course, I understand, there are people who continue to search all year round, but this is rather an exception, at least for Central Russia. Accordingly, most treasure hunters winter time They go into hibernation: they put the metal detector away for storage until spring, clean their summer finds, and study new information. But with the arrival of spring, movement begins - in the fields, like rooks, the first representatives of the treasure-hunting brotherhood appear here and there, combing the first thawed patches and other accessible areas of land.

It just so happens that the sandy banks of rivers are the first in terms of accessibility for searching using a metal detector in our region, primarily, of course, the beaches of the Volga. Naturally, the number of finds on the Volga beach cannot be compared with Black Sea coast, but even here a treasure hunter can count on certain finds.
It is important to understand that, by and large, searching on a river beach in Central Russia and, say, on a beach in Feodosia are two very different things. I'll try to explain. For Black Sea beach characterized by significantly greater traffic, and, consequently, a greater number of finds. If when searching on the Black Sea you can safely count on finding “saffron milk” (gold items), then on an ordinary river beach, of course, you come across them, but much less often. The area of the surveyed territory also differs quite significantly.

But there are, of course, features that are typical for any beach search. In particular, in addition to the pleasure that you get from pleasant time in the fresh air and contemplation of found objects, negativity still has its place. And first of all, this great amount metal debris that beach searchers have to deal with - pull tabs from cans, all kinds of stoppers, cigarette foil, etc., the list can go on for a very long time. The second factor is curious people, of whom there are naturally more on the beach than anywhere else, and everyone tries to help you with advice, ask how much “gold” you have already found, or puzzle you with the search for some object.

Of course, you can partly fight all this. For example, in order to filter out as much garbage as possible, you need to correctly set the device settings. At the same time, it is important to maintain an optimal balance so as not to miss anything necessary, not to “cut off” some interesting things, and for this you need to know your metal detector perfectly. By the way, beach searching is one of the types of treasure hunting, where, in my opinion, it is not so important how deeply the device “sees” the targets. Most objects are located in the top layer of sand or pebbles, therefore, even entry-level metal detectors will cope with the task perfectly.

It is also possible to deal with curious people relaxing on the beach, let’s say, not 100%, but partly. Firstly, best time to go out to search the beach - this is the morning or evening hours, when there are still fewer people. Secondly, bad weather, for example, light rain or just a cloudy sky, is not a hindrance for working with a metal detector, but it scares vacationers away. Thirdly, a stern, concentrated face, headphones on the head and a sharpened shovel work wonders.

By the way, about shovels. Beach search with a metal detector invites us to abandon the usual shovel, replacing it with a stingy one. A scoop is a kind of scoop for beach searching, a very convenient and, in my opinion, a necessary device. You can make a scup yourself or purchase a ready-made one; Yandex and its brother Google will tell you where and how to do this.

Beach search technology is quite simple. You are simply combing the shore, which is a beach or is simply considered one. At the same time, it makes sense to mentally divide the beach into certain zones. Let's say the bathing area is from coastline and approximately up to the chest of an adult. Another question is that checking this area without having a metal detector for underwater searching is problematic and feasible only within the length of the rod of your device (from the coil to the block, as a rule, can be immersed in water). It is in this zone that there is the greatest likelihood of finding jewelry, since people don’t swim there as much as they bathe (jump, rage, splash), therefore, a ring can fly off a finger, a chain can break, etc.

Another zone is the beach itself, the area where people sunbathe, put out sun loungers or spread blankets. On the beach itself you come across more garbage, and the range of finds is much wider, but the quality is worse. Quality in terms of the fact that you come across a lot of modern “walking stuff”, although it’s not in the best state of preservation. By the way, it’s more expensive to clean this little thing, but for those who don’t know, I’ll say that in the store they take it very reluctantly (or don’t take it at all), but various machines (selling coffee, chocolates, etc.) gobble it up with a bang. Usually the width of this zone is limited to 15...20 meters, or the border of sand on the beach.

At the same time, we should not forget that various bodies of water (rivers, seas, and lakes) have been actively used by various people as roads for many centuries, so you can count not only on modern finds, but on ancient coins, crosses, etc. . And the older locality located nearby, the greater the likelihood of finding antiques.

Separately, I would like to say that the search does not have to be carried out on the beach, you can simply do it along the banks of rivers. Rationality of this action it is also connected with the active use of rivers and other bodies of water in ancient times, but this is a slightly different technique, different principles, and I think it makes sense to talk about this separately.
