LIBEREC

ROKYTNICE NAD JIZEROU

This resort is located in the Center of the Ore Mountains at a distance of 28 km from Karlovy Vary on the border with Germany. The total length of the slopes is a little more than 70 km, it turns out that the resort is considered the highest mountainous city in all of Central Europe, the altitude above sea level is 1025 m. These 70 km of slopes include two night slopes. Klinovets is the highest peak at 1244 m. The Czech Republic is somehow not traditionally perceived in our country as a ski country. Indeed, there are no Alps in it, and people go there first of all to see Prague, drink beer, and for those who are older, to receive medical treatment “on the waters.” It turned out that if you compare Czech resorts with other countries of the “former socialist camp” or with Krasnaya Polyana, they are quite a good and affordable option for those who are limited in time and money. There are many options for inexpensive accommodation in the Czech Republic, but perhaps the most interesting resort from a skiing point of view is Spyndleruv Mlyn. It is better to fly from St. Petersburg to the Czech Republic by airline " Czech Airlines": a ticket to Prague and back in February of this year cost 8,500 rubles, while Pulkovo asked for about 12,000. A soft landing in Prague, a short transfer, and after 40 minutes you can already talk at the hotel reception and check in.

The resort itself is divided into two ski areas: St. Peter and Medvedin, which are covered by a single ski pass. The total length of the ski slopes is 26 km, the cross-country ski slopes are more than 100 km. Children under 6 years old ride for free; older children, teenagers and pensioners (over 65 years old) have discounts on ski passes. Ski pass for 1 full day of skiing in high season costs 750 CZK (approx. 29 EUR) for adults, 500 CZK (17.8 EUR) for children, for 3 days – 2000 CZK (71 EUR) and 1350 CZK (48 EUR). Night skiing tracks are open every evening, from 18.00 to 21.00, the total length of the illuminated tracks is more than 1500 m. The St. Peter area has 11 tracks (5 blue, 4 red and 2 black); for adults and children, as well as a cross-country ski track - the Krkonose Highway; a funpark (including a halfpipe) awaits snowboarders. Spindleruv Mlyn is very popular among the Germans (you can hear German speech all around, you get the feeling that you are not in the Czech Republic, but somewhere in the German Garmisch), there are very few Russians. And there are not many red and black skaters, there is a place to accelerate properly, test your technique and enjoy skating. For confident skiers, the ideal option is a couple of warm-up descents on blue slopes, and then skiing on more serious ones.
