Beaches of Phu Quoc Island:

Bai Sao - a paradise beach in Phu Quoc?

Do you dream of heaven on earth and the travel agency told you that it is in Bai Sao? Don’t be fooled - the beach is cool, but it’s completely bounty. Many people call it the best beach on Phu Quoc Island and in all of Vietnam, but we don’t think so.

Tourists are brought to the center of the beach. These are mainly Vietnamese and Chinese - social creatures, there they all flounder in the water in one heap.

To the right, towards the stones, there is an almost deserted beach, and it is no longer so clean. Only single couples come here. The left side is more populated: there are cafes, hotels, and they sell fruit. Near the Paradiso restaurant there are slender palm trees leaning towards the water. Most of the Chinese live here: who would miss a photo shoot in flowing chiffon dresses on a romantic swing?

But even on the “best” beach in Vietnam you will see a landfill. The Vietnamese don't pay attention to trash. Why export? We just throw it into the bushes.

We were very lucky: on the beach we did not find an abundance of sun loungers, inflatable trampolines, jet skis, boats and other activities. They never understood why they weren’t there, because they wrote something else on the Internet. Get away from tourists, it will be quiet. But garbage! Overall, I liked the beach, but I was left with a feeling of disappointment after the visit. We did not return to Bai Sao again and we cannot call it the best beach in Fukuoka.

But enough about the negatives. Here are the advantages of the beach: clean water, shallow White sand, very gentle entrance (good for small children), picturesque nature, almost privacy, there are rudiments of infrastructure (resorts, cafes and restaurants, paid showers and even a free toilet).

How to get there. A taxi costs 300-400,000 VND, but it’s cheaper and more interesting to rent a bike (150,000 VND per day). There are also excursions. The distance from the main beach of Long Beach is approximately 25 km.

So, you went to the beach. There are two roads leading to Bai Sao: one to the south of the beach (behind the stones) - and here is a real landfill. The other goes to the civilized part. Both roads are concreted. The second one is very narrow, people can barely drive it around. The result is traffic jams. The Vietnamese, in their favorite manner, simply did not finish the last section of the road, 500 meters long.

Hotels on Bai Sao Beach

There are resorts and guesthouses on Bai Sao beach, but for some reason they are not listed in online booking systems. On Roomguru.ru we found only My Lan Guesthouse and The Beach House An Thoi (right by the sea) - such things. And on Booking.com there are hotels further away - Phu Nam House and Hanh Mai Hotel.

Long Beach is the most comfortable beach in Fukuoka

Convenience lovers will love Long Beach. Probably 95% of the hotels on the entire island are located along the beach! You can find food without getting up from your sunbed - or rather, it will find you itself. In addition to hawkers, there are many cafes both on the beach and along the road.

Many people criticize the beach - they say it is dirty and noisy. We didn't observe anything like that. Let's put it this way: the beach is very ordinary, it doesn't evoke any emotions. Yellow sand, pure water. There are no waves, the approach is gentle.

Minuses: Although the beach is municipal, some hotels do not allow you to set up on their territory - they drive you away. Plus there is little shade, and the beach strip is very narrow. There are few civilized outlets to the sea - you need to either go around, or fight, or secretly pass through resorts (but almost always security will prevent you). As you can see, there are a lot of inconveniences - this beach cannot be called the best in Fukuoka either.

Hotels on Long Beach in Fukuoka

Long Beach has such a variety of hotels and resorts that it is difficult to choose. Many tours are sold specifically to hotels on Long Beach.

  • The Hill Resort 3*. Nice new hotel. There is a swimming pool, breakfast, quiet. Price - $40.
  • Miana Resort 2*. Garden hotel. The best of all where we lived in Fukuoka. Cozy bungalows surrounded by flowers. Open bathroom, large swimming pool, royal breakfasts. Price - $42.
  • Cozy Resort. Spacious bungalows surrounded by plants. There is no pool. Price - $25.
  • Sailing Hotel 2*. Cozy bed and breakfast with 70's style rooms. Price - $25.

Rush Vem is the most beautiful beach in Fukuoka!

Bãi Rạch Vẹm- this is a beach with starfish, of which there are countless numbers. This is what we consider the most beautiful and impressive beach in Fukuoka, this is the best beach on the island! The sand here is unusually white and fine. We were stunned by such beauty and constantly photographed the beach.

Rush Vem is more suitable for admiring nature and watching starfish than for beach holiday in the traditional sense. There is no infrastructure here, except for one seafood restaurant on the water. The area of the beach suitable for recreation is narrow and small. The sea is shallow. There is almost no shade - only 4-5 gazebos and one canopy (former cafe). That's why there are very few people!

We would probably give the title of paradise beach to Rush Vem. Just don't go to the left side so as not to be disappointed :)

There are many advantages. Here are the cons: approximately 5 km to the beach - dusty and bumpy dirt road. There is no infrastructure! For inexpensive food you have to go to the highway - take some food with you.

Where is it located and how to get there. You can get to the starfish beach in Phu Quoc by taxi or bike along the highway to the north of the island - use MAPS.ME for navigation. Don't miss the huge sign with a photo of the beach. A valiant Vietnamese woman stands nearby and sends everyone to the beach. If you go straight, you will find yourself in a picturesque floating fishing village, which we also recommend visiting.

Bai Thom

Bãi Thơm- another beach with starfish in Fukuoka. It is not at all as impressive as Rush Vem, and is almost not suitable for swimming. The sand is yellow. At low tide you can see marine life: shellfish, starfish, crabs, and some corals. There is no infrastructure, except for a cafe. Come to that section of the beach near the island - the other parts are terrible.

Bai Khem

To the beach Bãi Khem There are two roads: one through the luxurious Marriott 5* hotel, where only guests are allowed, the other through the forest. Only locals come here. When we were on the beach, a cheerful group of Vietnamese were walking around, there were many children.

The beach is not equipped, there is nowhere to spread a towel. The sand is normal yellow. A lot of trash. But the beach area near the hotel is well-maintained and clean - after all, it’s a five-star resort!

Duong Dong Beach

This beach is located near the lighthouse. We do not recommend swimming here - there is a port nearby. Although the locals do not disdain. People come to the pier to eat and watch the sunset.

I am sure that all those who leave for Vietnam from the harsh Russian winters will not only spend all their time viewing and exploring local attractions, but will also want to bask in the sun and swim in the sea on the best beaches of Phu Quoc.

And for those who have already been to this island or are just planning to go, below I have made a brief overview, in my opinion, of all the main beaches.

You can choose your hotel at excellent service, it searches for hotels using all major booking systems, such as Booking, Agoda, Hotels, etc. and will immediately give you the cost of the hotel in these systems. I also wrote a review about .

#1: Beach Long Beach(Long Beach)

It is located on west coast islands washed by the Gulf of Thailand. Since it is located on the southwest coast, from here you will, of course, be able to watch beautiful sunsets, as the sun not only sets below the horizon, but seems to fall into the sea.

The beach extends from Duong Dong and stretches south for almost twenty kilometers. The sand has a yellow tint and is bordered by a grassy edge of the shore, along which rows of coconut palms grow.

Central and Northern part is the most best place for relax. There are numerous hotels, cafes and bars along the entire road leading to Duong Dong, where you can have a delicious lunch and a glass of wine. Clean beach, lots of sun loungers, not crowded here compared to Thailand.

The southernmost part of the beach is mostly deserted, with lonely fishing shacks made from palm leaves located in the distance. Little by little, construction is increasingly covering its southern part. So, soon there will be hotels and other developed infrastructure here too.

Bai Sao is not inferior to Long Beach in its significance and beauty. Its length is about two kilometers, and it is located in the southern part of the island, 25 kilometers from the capital Duong Dong. Bai Sao is a fairly secluded beach with soft and white sand - one of the few on the island.

You can not only passively tan on it, but if you prefer whiter leisure, then here you can rent a jet ski, go scrolling or just ride a banana. Also near the beach there are several hotels and restaurants that offer European, Vietnamese or Russian dishes.

Here in the ocean you can see starfish, and if you're lucky, small squid. In the northernmost and southernmost areas of the island, there are places where you will find corals.

Adviсe:

  • From May to October the sea in this place is calm, as the winds go to the western part of the island. And from October to May the sea will be rough, especially in the middle of the day.
  • Bai Sao is a popular beach and can be crowded at times. But if you are looking for solitude and peace, then come to it either early in the morning or in the evening to admire the amazing sunset.

Bai Ong Lang is located on the west coast of Phu Quoc. It is located between the town of Ganh Dau and Duong Dong. Bai Ong Lang is not continuous, but consists of a series of small sandy beaches separated by ridges of stones.

All recreational areas at the resorts are well maintained and regularly cleaned of debris that washes up on the shore. This is wonderful quiet place, not crowded with tourists, beautiful white sand, with crystal clear water.

There are no shops on this one, so it’s best to buy everything you need in advance and bring it with you. But if you want to drink cocktails or beer, you will find a bar or restaurant next to the hotel. If you are not satisfied with the food here, you can always go to Duong Dong, which is located a 15-minute drive from the beach.

Sometimes a seller walks along the beach and offers to buy you fresh pineapple, mango or watermelon. Sun loungers on this beach can be rented and cost about 50 (VND) VND per day.

#4: Beach Bai Ahem(Bai Khem Beach)

Bai Khem (also known as Kem Beach, Bai Khem, Bai Khem, and also called “Cream Beach”) is another white sand beach of Phu Quoc, located in the south. east coast south of An Thoi Town, 24 kilometers from Duong Dong.

Bai Khem is a beautiful crescent-shaped beach. Wet white powdery sand creaks pleasantly underfoot. The sea here is calm with a greenish-blue tint. In connection with which it received the name – Emerald Bay.

Although the beach itself is not as large as Long Beach or Bai Sao, it also attracts tourists with its romantic scenery. A fishing village is located comfortably next to the beach.

There are also bars and restaurants on Khem Beach that offer freshly prepared seafood. By visiting this place, you can buy fresh shrimp, oysters or snails that have just been caught directly from the fishing boats, and then take them to the restaurant, where they will be prepared for you on the spot according to the recipe you have chosen.

Vung Bao is located in the northwest of Phu Quoc Island between Cua Bi Beach in the south and Bai Dai Beach in the north. It opens from it great view on neighboring island Hong Mong Tai, it has a good place for swimming, as well as for fishing and scrolling.

The sand on the beach is dark yellow and it is relatively clean. During the high season, the sea is calm and the water takes on different shades of blue. The southernmost part of the beach is completely deserted.

Swimming with a mask, you can see a starfish, a shell and, if you're lucky, sea urchins, but be careful not to touch them.

If you like active recreation, then here you can rent a kayak to sail to the nearest Fingernail Island.

Phu Quoc, located in the calm waters of the Gulf of Thailand, is the most big island Vietnam and place best beaches countries. But this does not mean that they are all equally good. The range here is extremely wide - from a piece of paradise to a garbage dump.

On the mainland of Vietnam, many try to visit one of the best beaches in Vietnam - Do Do Let. On Fukuoka there will be more choice of places to relax: sandy and rocky, equipped and wild, with developed infrastructure and completely unsuitable for a beach holiday.

Tourism industry on Fukuoka is now developing at an accelerated pace - a new international airport has opened, additional ferry terminals are being built, leading hotel chains construction of hotels began around the world.

For the foreseeable future, beaches Fukuoka will apply to certain hotels, and some of them will probably be cleaner and better equipped. In the meantime, 150 km coastline make it possible to find a corner for every taste.

Fukuoka beaches

On Fukuoka The most famous are 10 beaches, which differ markedly from each other in the level of comfort, development of tourist infrastructure and cleanliness.

Bai Dai Beach

Dai Beach located in the northwest of the island Phu Quoc. Just a few years ago this was one of the most untouched beaches in the world, but now one of the best lies here chain hotels Vietnam - Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort 5*.

True, this will not prevent you, if you wish, from finding secluded areas of the beach with untouched nature.

Beach Bai Dai still clean, covered with yellow, loose sand. The most deserted idyllic sections of the beach are located closer to the beach and opposite Turtle Island (Hon Doi Moi Island).

Diving and snorkeling enthusiasts go to Turtle Island (Hon Doi Moi Island) - there is a famous dive site here.

The sea here is warm, with a gentle slope, without currents, with water of various shades from blue to green. The beach strip is not wide; in some areas, casaurina (aeolian tree) comes close to the beach.

Beach Dai Beach Ideal for children and non-swimmers.

There are small restaurants along the shore in the village Ganh Dau(with still low prices).

Vung Bau Beach

Vung Bau one of the least crowded beaches - apart from a couple of small restaurants you will not find anything here. It is located south of the beach.

The beach is about 4.5 km long and is lined with tall grass, palm trees and casaurina trees.
The sea here is calm during the dry season and quite aggressive during the rainy season. The entrance to the water is gentle with gradually increasing depth.

Not only starfish and shells are not uncommon on this beach, but also sea urchins, so be careful, watch your step.

Close to the beach Vung Bau There are several small hotels (you can also have a snack there):

  • Bamboo Cottages(with its own private beach, luxury rooms)
  • Vung Bau Resort(amazing beach + reasonable price)
  • Mai Phuong Phu Quoc Resort(comfortable beach + reasonable price)

Ong Lang Beach

Beach Ong Lang is located on the west coast of the island between the village of Ganh Dau and the main city of the island - Duong Dong.

Ong Lang noticeably different from other beaches: the beach strip here is periodically interrupted by sections of rocks and stones. Here you can watch not only the most beautiful sunsets on the west coast of the island, but also numerous fishing boats crossing the cow beach.

The beach is covered with light yellow loose sand, fairly clean (hotel staff regularly cleans their areas), and is bordered by palm trees and casaurina trees.

The sea here is transparent, green-blue, calm, with a gentle entry into the water, at the beginning high season(November - December) there may occasionally be jellyfish.

Along the beach Ong Lang There are quite a lot of small hotels, guest houses, restaurants, and fast food outlets. If you need more variety in restaurants and shops, then go to Duong Dong - 15 minutes and you are there.

Ganh Dau Beach

Beach Gan Bau Beach is located at the northern tip of Phu Quoc Island, near the village of Ganh Dau. Gan Bau Beach It has the shape of a horseshoe, is surrounded by forests, and covered on both sides by low mountains.

The sand on the beach is yellow, with a significant admixture of ground corals. The sea here is calm, inhabited by various living creatures (thanks to the presence of corals and stones) - if you wish, you can watch crabs, shellfish, and various fish. Opposite the beach you can see the Cambodian coast (Mount Ta Lon). Nearby are National Park Fukuoka and Nguyen Trung Truc Temple are worth a visit.

Right on the beach Gan Bau Beach there are two restaurants where you can taste seafood or national Vietnamese cuisine (meals start from 100,000VND). In the village itself, you can taste traditional Vietnamese dishes for VND 35,000. As of March 2016, there was not a single working ATM here.

There are no hotels on the beach, but you can stay at Ganh Dau.

Sao & Khem Beaches (Bai Sao and Bai Khem)

Beach Sao Beach is located in the southeast of the island, 7 km from the town of An Thoi. This is one of the best beaches not only in Vietnam, but in all of Southeast Asia.

Sao Beach is famous for its white sand - very reminiscent of the beaches of the Caribbean.

The best section of the beach is next to the restaurant Paradiso(previously called “No Problem”). In the southern part of the beach the sand is yellow, rougher, and clean beach difficult to name. A few years ago it was perfect, but now you can see the consequences of its popularity - some areas are covered with garbage.

The sea here has a characteristic turquoise hue and is shallow (to a depth of more than 100 m).

In the sea you can see many young fish, crustaceans, and sometimes squid; in September - October there are many starfish off the coast.

Today at the beach Sao Beach you will find many restaurants, bars, small hotels, tour agencies, boat and kayak rentals, windsurfing and kitesurfing centers.

Beach Bai Hem located next door, famous for its white sand. Until 2014, this part of the island was closed to tourists (there were military installations here). Now access is free, but contrary to what is written about the beach on the Internet, it cannot be considered comfortable: the coastal waters are rich in fish, shrimp, anchovies, and this has led to the fact that the largest fish market is located here. Anyone who has been to similar markets in Vietnam at least once knows that there is no need to talk about cleanliness here.

In the near future, the authorities plan to close the fish market here and repurpose the beach exclusively for tourism.

Long Beach

Long Beach this is the epicenter of a beach holiday in Fukuoka - 20 km of golden sand, turquoise sea and magnificent sunsets.

The beach is located on the west coast of the island just 10 minutes drive from international airport. It’s comfortable to sunbathe, swim, exercise here aquatic species sports, relax and just bask in the sun.

There are numerous hotels, restaurants, and shops along the entire beach. Merchants right on the beach will offer you drinks, fruits, and seafood.

The beach is conventionally divided into 2 parts: northern and southern.

North Long Beach It is 5 km long, starts at the Eden Resort Hotel (in Duong Dong, near the new airport) and ends at the rocks next to the Trang An Phu Quoc Hotel.

South Long Beach stretches for 15 km, includes a series of small local beaches (Xep Beach, Dai Do Beach, Duong Co Beach, Duong Xanh Beach, and Vuon Dua Beach). It is not so crowded here, the infrastructure is somewhat less developed than in the northern part. This is a place to go for those looking for peace and quiet.

Sparsely populated southern part of the beach Long Beach the phenomenon is temporary - large-scale construction of large tourist complexes(construction is planned to be completed by 2020).

Rach Tram & Rach Vem Beaches

Both beaches are located in the north of the island, surrounded by tropical jungle. The beaches are rarely visited by tourists - the roads leading to them are unpaved, the tourist infrastructure is not developed, luxurious nature and heaps of garbage on the shore in the form of broken boats, old nets, plastic boxes, etc. In general, these beaches are waiting for the owner's hand.

Thom Beach

Thom Beach located in the north of the island - very quiet and calm beach, surrounded by thickets of cashew (hazel). You can only get here along a dirt road; the infrastructure here is poorly developed, but there are still a few inexpensive hotels.

Sea near the beach Thom Beach shallow, noticeable low tides.

In the future, it is planned to build a tourist center here.

Cua Can Beach

Beach Cua Can Beach is located on the west coast of the island between the beaches in the south and in the north. At this point, the Kua Kan River flows into the Gulf of Thailand, forming many shallows with thickets of casuarina. This place is not suitable for swimming, except for small sections of the beach.

Vong Beach

Beach Wong Beach the first one that guests see when arriving on the island by water: here is the ferry terminal where they arrive from the mainland. It is 8 km from the capital of the island, Doung Dong, and Ham Ninh village is nearby.

The surrounding nature looks much nicer than the beach itself, especially considering that two additional berths are currently under construction.

The sea here is shallow, and jellyfish are often found. It is unlikely that you will have the desire to rent housing in this part of the island, but it is quite possible to try seafood.

Fukuoka Hotel Map

(by moving the map with your mouse, you can see hotels along the entire coast)

Cua Kan beach in Fukuoka

This Phu Quoc beach is not very well known to tourists, although it is located only 8 km north of the town of Duong Dong on the west coast of the island behind a fishing village. You can get there by boat or ride across rickety wooden bridges on a bike. The car won't go there.

Bai Thom

Bai Thom beach in Phu Quoc

This Phu Quoc beach may not be as beautiful as Bai Sao, but it has its own unique charm. In addition, there you can have a nude photo shoot or make love right under a palm tree. It's not often that you meet someone there. A completely uninhabited place. This beach is located on extreme point northeast of the island, approximately 35 km from Dong Dong. The best way to get there is by bike.

Bai Vong Beach

Bai Wong beach in Fukuoka

Bai Wong is located on the east coast of Phu Quoc, about 8 km from the island's capital, approximately halfway to Bai Sao Beach. There is also white sand there and generally very beautiful. Several restaurants serving local Vietnamese cuisine are hidden under the palm trees. They serve wonderful fresh seafood and freshly squeezed juices. It is not difficult to get to Bai Wong by bike.

Take a look. With its help, you can decide which beach of the island to start your voyage from.
