Rating of Phuket beaches description reviews. Beaches on the east side of Phuket. Jung Ceylon Shopping Center

The island of Phuket has always been famous for its clean and snow-white beaches. There are quite a few of them here, but the best beaches in Phuket are located on the western part of the island. They have a sandy and smooth entrance to the water, and on their territory there is the tourist infrastructure necessary for a comfortable stay. All beaches are free, so you can freely visit any of them and spend as much time there as you like.

In this article I will talk about the 10 best beaches that I liked the most. I will describe them from north to south, and on the map you can see where this or that beach is located.

Located next to the airport. This beach is famous for the fact that planes land over it; I described this place when I wrote an article about. – deserted beach, tourists come there just to watch the planes fly by. The beach has a long coastline and a rather sharp entrance to the sea. If you don't go close to the airport, you can enjoy a quiet, comfortable stay.

Banana Beach

This is a small beach that is little known among tourists. However, this is very a nice place. Banana Beach was my favorite beach: white sand, clear warm water. Even when they rose on other beaches high waves, here the sea has always been calm. The beach is located between Nai Thon and Bang Tao, somewhere in the middle. Along the road you will see a sign that says “Banana Beach”. And to get to the beach, you need to go down a fairly steep slope.

Descent to the beach

Bang Tao Beach

Bang Tao is a large bay, duration coastline 8 kilometers. There are usually not many people here, which is quite quiet place. In the center of the beach, even in high season, there are often big waves, so it is not very suitable for families with children. Bang Tao Beach can be classified as elite beaches, since the most expensive hotels, spas and golf courses are located here, and the service is at the highest level. On the shore there are sun loungers, a cafe, and a large selection of entertainment (motor boats, motorbikes, etc.). Read more about Bang Tao beach.

Surin Beach

Surin is a small beach, but very crowded. There are a large number of sun loungers on the shore, as well as small cafes and shops. Enough noisy place, a lot of young people. The main feature of Surin Beach is its numerous pine trees, which are exotic in Thailand. Read more about Surin Beach.

Kamala Beach

Kamala is a fairly calm beach and has a long coastline. Middle-aged and elderly Europeans mostly relax on this beach. A highway runs along the coast. Not far from the beach there are Big C stores and mini Tesco. The sand is fine, there is a smooth descent into the sea, there are practically no waves. Read more about Kamala Beach.

Patong is the most popular and party beach in Phuket. A large number of package tourists are brought to this area, so there are a lot of people on the beach. Along Patong there are numerous shops, cafes, restaurants, massage centers. There is water activities for every taste, lots of sun loungers. However, due to the large crowds, Patong Beach is not as clean as others and the water is more cloudy. Read more about Patong Beach.

Freedom Beach

Freedom - small, but very beautiful beach, which is located next to Patong. It's really heavenly place: snow-white fine sand, azure sea and palm trees along the shore. There are few people here and this is due to the inaccessibility of the beach. You can get here on foot from Patong Beach, but you will have to walk about a kilometer through the tropical jungle. Or you can hire a boat to take you, but such a trip will cost 1,000 baht or more. Freedom Beach is divided into two parts by boat parking. One part belongs to the restaurant and to sunbathe on its territory you will have to pay 100 baht, the other part of the beach is free. Read more about Freedom Beach.

Karon Beach

Karon is a pretty pretty beach with fine, crisp, snow-white sand. There is almost no natural shade from trees on the beach, the water is clear. There are usually a lot of people here, but not as noisy as Patong. Lots of different entertainment options, across the road from the beach there are cafes, shops and restaurants. Kata Beach

Kata Beach is a fairly quiet place, but popular. Many people with children relax here; there are practically no waves during the season. There are hotels located on the beach. The sand is soft, the water is clear. Great beach for family vacation. Kata gradually turns into Kata Noi Beach, which is considered its younger brother. Read more about Kata Beach.

Nai Harn Beach

Nai Harn is a beautiful and quiet beach, across the road there is a lake. Hotels here are mostly expensive and there are very few of them. The sand on the beach is white and fine, the sea is calm. The best beaches in Phuket

Below you will find information about each beach, with all the details a tourist needs to know. Each place can be found on a map of Phuket with beaches.

Characteristics of Phuket beaches

Kata Beach

This place is very popular among Russian tourists. Due to this, a large number of people come during the season, and sometimes it is difficult to simply find a place to stay. Perhaps in the central part of the beach you can find a small corner of privacy. On the right side of the beach there is a river that is not the most pleasant and has a specific smell, so it is better to look for a hotel in the opposite part. On the left side, the water is cleaner, and the relaxation atmosphere itself is much higher.

Karon

It is no less popular among Russian tourists, since it most often falls on people’s travel packages. The scale is very impressive, the shore is amazing in its size, it is huge.

It is better to come there in winter, as it is stormy at other times of the year. The best place for lovers of a quiet life.

Romantics will appreciate the magnificent views from the shore.

Patong

The most popular beach on Phuket island. You can meet not only Russian-speaking tourists, but also representatives of other nationalities. Tourists from all over the world flock to it and therefore there are more than enough people. During the winter months the water is especially clean; it is recommended to swim on the right side of the beach. Life here proceeds differently than in other parts of the island - there is always fun, noisy companies, an invigorating atmosphere, where life is in full swing. There are many inexpensive hotels nearby, the price of which is suitable for tourists on a limited budget.

Kata Noi

Located near Kata Beach. You can get to it over the hill on foot. Stunning views that will mesmerize your mind are guaranteed. Hotels in the area are quite expensive and are not suitable for all tourists. The waves are often very large and you can rent a surfboard, which is what many who come to this beach do. You can buy a special snorkeling mask and admire the small fish that overflow the waters of Kata Noi.

Kamala

A place ideal for a relaxing holiday with children. It’s quite difficult to find Russian tourists; there are practically none. During the season there are no waves at all, but when it rains it is stormy. If you need privacy, then you need to go to the central part of the coast; there are practically no people there at all. The magical sunsets of Phuket are best seen in the center. There are very few hotels in that area.

Laem Sing

A small beach located between two others. Entrance costs around 20 baht, so there aren’t that many people there - not everyone wants to pay for the opportunity to lie in the sun. The water there is the purest, the landscape is truly fantastic. But there will be problems with housing. There are no hotels nearby, only beach holidays and nothing more.

Surin

One of the best holiday destinations in all of Phuket. The sea in this place is deep, and it becomes so almost immediately. The water is clean. Large and strong waves can often be seen. Hotels are more expensive than near other beaches. The price is high due to the certain “eliteness” of the beach; various celebrities like to relax there and the service is much better. Another difference is the pine trees surrounding the beach, which are an excellent substitute for palm trees.

Bang Tao

On the map you can see that it is located in the southern part of the island. Another quiet and peaceful corner, even at the height of the season you can find a place for complete privacy, due to the fact that it is very long. The sea is calm all year round, the chance of seeing big waves is almost zero. The beach is best suited for families with small children. Nearby you can find decent hotels with good service, various services, spas and expensive shops.

Nai Harn

The best beach in the southern part of Phuket island. There are no waves during the season, but in the off-season their size increases. The sea in this area is clean. There are no hotels nearby, so it is not suitable for every tourist. But not far away there is a famous French restaurant, run by one of the best chefs in Australia.

Yanuy

A very tiny beach with clear water, ideal for snorkeling. There is only one hotel nearby (it must be said that it is very good), but others can be found a little further away. The place is very sunny, you need to try very hard to find a secluded corner hidden from the scorching sun. It is worth noting the presence of stones at the bottom of the sea. Yanui is best suited in winter; there is nothing to do there at other times of the year. On the map you can see that it is located in the southern part of the island.

Banana

On the map you can find it at the top, in the northern part of the island. This place is the standard of a tropical paradise - rocky terrain dividing the beach into two parts, wild coconut thickets, snow-white sand reminiscent of a white veil. The clearest water allows you to see the attractive seabed. Particular attention in this matter should be paid to the reefs, which in that area have incredibly charming views. The most interesting beach for tourists is Banana Beach, Phuket is proud of such a place.

The beaches of Phuket are some of the best in all of Thailand. And in general, Phuket is a unique island where, in addition to wonderful beaches, you can find a lot of entertainment. Best time For beach holiday in Phuket - from the end of November to the end of March. During these months, all beaches will have clean water and a calm sea without waves.

Phuket beach

I'll tell you briefly about all the beaches. At the end of the article there will be a map on which all the beaches of Phuket are marked. We visited almost all of them and took a lot of cool photos and videos. Read more about each beach by clicking on the name.

Phuket beaches on the map

The map shows all the main beaches in Phuket. You can use this map to find out which part of the island a particular beach is on, and then look at google maps how to get there and get directions. If you are interested in which beach is better to choose for relaxing or wintering on the island, be sure to read our article:

Map of Phuket beaches

is no exception, so before preparing for your trip, consider the following nuances.

  • The best beach infrastructure is in the west of the island. If you want comfort, go (or immediately book a hotel) there.
  • All swimming places at the resort belong to the municipality - that is, they are free. Anyone can go there: don’t be embarrassed, even if you see that the beach is located right next to the hotel and there is a path leading to it from the lobby.
  • Phuket is an ideal “winter” resort for Russians: the high season here lasts from November to April. At this time there are minimal waves and the weather is perfect for families with children. If you are not burdened with a family and also love windsurfing, Phuket is waiting for you all year round.

The best beaches on Phuket island

All you need to do is choose one (or several) places for swimming for the entire duration of your stay at the resort. We strongly recommend that you cover as many beaches as possible: there are both noisy “party” gathering points for tourists from all over the island, as well as secluded areas for relaxing with the whole family.

Patong

Let's start with the most popular beach among the active part of tourists. Patong is not just a place for swimming, but also excellent opportunities for shopping and a night out in clubs and bars. In terms of cleanliness, Patong cannot be called ideal: it affects great amount vacationers, but in terms of convenience and entry into the water, everything is excellent. The infrastructure is at a high level - it is especially convenient for guests of nearby hotels to come here.

Karon

Karon is always popular among tourists for two reasons. Firstly, it is very clean and cleaned regularly. Secondly, it has its own “trick” - sand with a high content of quartz, which, when walking on it, produces a peculiar creaking sound: almost like snow in a frosty winter.

Karon is recommended not only to all lovers of all sorts of unusual things, but also to married couples with children. It is much cleaner here than in Patong, but there is one unobvious drawback: the beach is separated from the hotel sector by a highway. This does not affect the quality of your vacation in any way, but if you live near Karon, you will have to walk a hundred meters more to get to know the sea. For exactly the same reason, it is much quieter here than in its noisy neighbor.

Bang Tao

The leader of preferences in several categories at once - the longest (8 km), clean and expensive. It is aimed at the high price segment, as evidenced by the prices in nearby boutiques, restaurants and shops. The contingent is mainly wealthy older Europeans. All the necessary infrastructure is fully present, so a comfortable stay is ensured.

Bang Tao has an interesting bottom topography, thanks to which different parts The beach wave behaves differently. For example, in the central swimming area, small waves are present almost everywhere, even in high season. If you come to swim with a child, try to stay in the outer zones.

Surin

There is a proven rule in Surin: good things don’t come cheap. However, the sea and sand here have no price competition - the beach, like the rest in Phuket, is open to everyone.

But there are not many visitors here - many are scared away high prices for drinks, food and entertainment. This is indeed a very respectable place: high-status boutiques and shopping centers operate nearby, but there is no set of traditional democratic entertainment, of which there are many on other beaches of Phuket.

The highlight of this swimming place is a small pine grove: for a place where palm trees rule the roost, this is truly exotic.

Kamala

If you are looking for peace and tranquility in a beach holiday, Kamala is definitely for you. This swimming place is extremely popular among older people and families with children also because all the hotels located near Kamala have direct access to the sea. There are very few young people here - there are practically no water activities.

Kamala is about 2 km of sandy coastline, which can be divided into “south” and “north”. The first part has excellent infrastructure, but is a bit expensive: renting sunbeds and umbrellas will cost $4-5. For those who want to save money (and at the same time be in silence, since there are traditionally a lot of vacationers in the southern part), we recommend going closer to the north - there are fewer amenities here, but there is always a place to spread a towel on the sand.

An important point: it is not recommended to come to Kamala during the rainy season: strong undercurrents are possible.

Yanui

Fans of “wild” beaches also have plenty to do in Phuket. Yanui is located in the south of the island - not the most convenient place from the point of view of swimming: nevertheless, several hundred meters suitable for a beach holiday are present here.

Yes, there is no infrastructure here, and the nearest restaurant or club is a good half hour away. But for diving and snorkeling it’s easy here Amazing places: the beautiful rocky bottom and the colorful riot of tropical fish attract true connoisseurs. For people who understand that there are no places in nature that are inconvenient for swimming, Yanui is a real find. The main thing is not to forget the slates and choose your entry point carefully, since the stones are quite sharp.

Nai Harn

If we evaluate the beaches of Phuket according to the “price/quality” parameter, then Nai Harn will occupy one of the first places here. There are enough advantages: there are not too many people, the entrance to the sea is sandy, there are not enough establishments - but there is more than enough for a snack, changing clothes and entertainment. The only thing that raises questions is the lack of free showers, but this can be overcome. Or pay 20 baht for ablution - choose what suits you best.

You can come to the beach with children without fear: you can run into the sea barefoot - there is shallow water (4-5 m) and no stones. Nai Harn is extremely picturesque - and if you are lucky enough to visit here in the low season, you will definitely be able to see the famous regatta, which is held under the auspices of the King of Thailand.

A holiday by the sea can be combined with viewing a local attraction - a narrow channel connecting the island lake with the sea. In addition, you can swim to desert island, located a couple of hundred meters from the shore.

Kata

Extremely pretty and suitable for exploring the gentle sea with the whole family, Kata Beach deservedly bears the title of one of the most respectable in Phuket. Judge for yourself: there are several diving centers here, there are taverns with seaside cuisine (giant shrimp are especially good), there is no noise. As for the beach itself, it is almost perfect - clean sand, smooth sunset, sets of sun loungers and umbrellas are always available.

The cleanliness of Kata deserves special mention - traditional traces of civilization in the form of fruit skins and snack packaging are removed quite quickly here. The swimming place leaves the most pleasant impressions and has one peculiarity: even in winter, during the high season, a wave passes here periodically, once every 10-15 minutes. You ran, jumped - and again you swim in calm waters!

In this article we talk about the best beaches in Phuket. We share information about the cleanliness of beaches, the popularity of places and infrastructure. We will also tell you which Phuket beaches are best suited for families with children. For convenience, we have marked all the best beaches on the map.
