Digging for artifacts on the beach (unpleasant incident). Beach holiday or cop? Cop on the beach is interesting

Actually, this is my usual case. As I remember now, it was autumn, the swimming season was already closed, there were no people on the lake, and I decided to go to one famous beach in order to wave a metal detector. As they say, a lot of people visit this beach during the season, and if there is nothing valuable, you can always get hold of a modern walker, train your hearing for signals, and just enjoy the process.

Cop with a metal detector on the beach

I arrived at the place early, around 8 am. Slowly he decomposed, and a little later he began to dig. As one would expect, everything rang. As luck would have it, I didn’t have a sniper rifle with me, so I dug with a standard coil, and even taking into account the fact that the standard sensor was small, even here the garbage slowly began to piss me off. But I knew what I was getting into, so I dug for every interesting signal.

The ratio of useful swag to shmurdyak was approximately as follows: for 1 normal find (a modern walker, buttons, and so on) there were about a dozen (or even more) dug (and then buried) holes, where there was the well-known foil and pull tabs from cans . Here, as they say, everyone decides for themselves whether to dig such a signal or not. I have already drawn attention to this point: a shmurdyak signal can be cut off with a discriminator, but in this way you may inadvertently miss something useful. That’s why I use all metals, although on “trash” metals, if you have the opportunity and confidence in the settings, it’s better to tune out the garbage a little.

So, I took ordinary cotton gloves with me, and since the sun came out closer to 11 o’clock in the afternoon, and the gloves themselves were already wet, in the end I took them off and decided to dig without them. The technique is simple: I look for a signal, dig it up, and then use a pin to identify the find. Fortunately, it’s convenient to dig in the sand and you don’t get too tired. And no, I wouldn’t stick to this tactic, but no, when fatigue began to take its toll, I increasingly began to shovel sand out of the hole with my hand.

It happened like this: the metal detector shows a signal, I dig it, sit down on my knees, and put the shovel aside. And then I start looking for a signal with my hands and pins. And if the signal is still in the hole, I try to dig it out with my hands. In this way, I successfully saved 5 rubles, 2 kopecks of advice, and a ton of crap. At the next signal, when I was about to go home, I repeated my actions.

And with the next sweeping shoveling of sand from the hole, I almost screamed at the entire reservoir... It turned out that I had found a fishing tee, which successfully entered my finger. This is crap... This happened to me earlier while fishing, but here my hands are dirty, everything is covered in sand and soil, and even the tee. It’s good that the hook only penetrated the finger with one sting. The cop immediately stopped, there was blood, but not much.

Fortunately, you always have a multitool with wire cutters in your backpack. As a result, gritting my teeth, I pushed the hook further so that it came out (I don’t know if I did it right or not, I’m not an adviser here, I’m just describing my experience), and then I bit off the barbed sting with wire cutters. I pulled out the second part of the hook, it went easier, although it hurt. But my “jamb” is not even that I raked out the sand with my hands. The fact is that I did not take any peroxide or other disinfectant liquid with me, although many comrades write about this.

I quickly packed everything up and went home. The journey took about 2 hours, but apparently this time someone decided to just teach me a lesson - there was no suppuration or inflammation, as they say, it went away.

Now, going to , I always have a full first aid kit in my backpack. Search, as they say, is search, but you should never forget about your health and safety.

Well, people aren’t writing much, let’s try to liven up the topic a little!

I’ll write here a couple of stories that I personally had.

In my opinion, being a cop is a vacation (I can’t call this process earning money). But still a vacation that requires immersion in the process)
I always make the best finds if I go digging EARLY - in the summer I usually get up at five or six in the morning - with a bottle of water, a device, a shovel. That's all. No phones or anything else needed. The beaches are empty, the water is pleasantly cold, the sun has not yet risen high.
And then one of these days, I was wandering along the beach. Someone is watching me carefully from a tent. Then I saw a man come out and walk towards me - it turned out that he was the owner of the beach. It turns out we even have this)

We talked, became very interested in my actions, began to walk with me, look at what finds I had found. We walked with him - only coins came across, he had already accumulated 50 rubles) Well, beach trash. He thought that now everything will be, gold right away. We walked around with him like this for about 40 minutes, he fell behind. I continue to wander. And I just decided to walk under the net - once, the device sang pleasantly, I carefully spread the sand - something sparkled - I bent down, looked more closely - there it was, a golden cross!) The owner was already trotting towards me - they say - what did he find? And I can’t believe it myself! I say automatically - but nothing ordinary (I say it just in case, otherwise people are different - both when I’m digging in a field and when on the beach). The cross is already in my shorts pocket. I wandered around a little more - but there was nothing else under the net. With that, I got ready to go home. I passed the pontoon bridge, behind it I saw a car drive up to me (and I was just with a device and a shovel) - the driver asked what was being “caught”? I showed him the cross. He already got out of the car) I asked everyone how many such finds I was finding, and how much gold there was from the beach) He caught fire, apparently! So maybe he has already joined our ranks, or maybe he was just happy for my find)

The second story is about another beach. He is about five hundred meters from the first one. Also earlier in the morning, I greeted the fishermen who had gathered for the morning bite, moved away from them, and decided to explore the beach volleyball court, it was a little further from the shore. But big. I walk and walk and there is nothing at all. Empty - either someone passed before me, or there was nothing at all. Well, I think nothing. I took a little time to get ready - a signal for silver - at first there was a cracked ring, a church one. A little further on is a cross, also silver. I decided to take a closer look at the boundaries of the volleyball field. And what? The finds included the USSR, and coins of the State Emergency Committee (they had been lying around for so long!), and our change. But there were no more precious metals that day)
Slowly the sun began to rise, it became hot, and I got ready to go home.

These are the stories about a little summer cop on the beach)

This year, unexpectedly, I was taken on vacation to Odessa region, namely in the urban-type settlement of Zatoka. Got there at the beginning velvet season. Why I went to the sea during this period, what I dug and how many gold seekers I saw there, read about all this further.

In 2017, the entire Black Sea coast in the Odessa, Nikolaev, Kherson, and Zaporozhye regions was packed with vacationers. The famous “Odessa highway” (E95) was crowded with cars with license plates BL, MD, and less often with RU. Every time we went to a cop and our path ran along this transport artery, a large number of cars from neighboring countries It was simply surprising. So there was no question of any holiday by the sea during the season (end of May - August) - I don’t like crowds, and the prices are an order of magnitude higher. Definitely: if you vacation in the south, then only in September!

For the future: first week of September, it's still season! All the cafes and attractions are open, the parking lots are full, the beach is full of people, the prices are outrageous. But already in the second week there are noticeably fewer people, as well as entertainment.

Searching with a metal detector on the beach in 2017

Which metal detector should you use to go to the sea? After thinking a little about this issue, I settled on one with a standard coil (too large). Why this MD? He was guided solely by one motive: salty sand. Grains of sand, especially sea sand, are such an infection that will crawl into any crack, and moist air will corrode any metal. Fisher 44 is designed in such a way that it is not afraid of moisture, sand, or dust - even if you bury it in the sand, the device worked and will continue to work even after several years.

Purely because of laziness, I only went to the cops twice. It is very difficult for me to get up at half past five in the morning when I went to bed (not always sober) late at night. 🙂

Morning. A calm sea and an almost empty beach are a blessing. What else does a digger need?

On the first day, a guy from our company went with me because he wanted to look at the “cop.” So that he wouldn’t get bored, I also handed him a spatula.

And so we walk on the sand, which is saturated with salt, and slowly dig. For some reason there is practically no garbage. It turns out that every day a special car drives along the beach and removes garbage. I wonder how much interesting stuff she takes out of the sand?

With my luck I can't find much, but when I'm not alone, then there's a chance. And after about 30 minutes of collecting small change, a pendant in the shape of an elephant appeared from the sand and right there, about 40 centimeters away, lay a chain. All the silver is my lucky partner. 😀

After walking around a bit, we met a local digger with . I chatted with him for about 20 minutes and learned a few secrets of a beach cop, more on them below.

It’s the beginning of the 9th, people are slowly crawling towards the sea - we need to leave.

Serebrishko is a pleasant find. But even despite this, the boy will not go with me anymore - the instrument search did not conquer him.

The second time I went myself. My finds are only coins. Not even surprising...

Here is the result of my search, a total of 4 – 4.5 hours.

The result is good or not, I don’t know. Anyone who walks along the beach with a metal detector, let him write in the comments what kind of beach cop I turned out to be.

Metal detector on the sea beach.

As you know, AKA metal detectors do not work on salty sand. Phantoms, glitches, and whitewash on the display do not allow these devices to even see the coin from above. Why can they even work there, but powerful AKAs can’t? Therefore, it is reasonable that I was interested in how the Fisher F44 would feel on sea beach and in the coastal zone. Here on the blog they told me that there would be no problems, but I would like to see for myself.

Yes, neither Fisher nor Deteknix in the sand were buggy. Even more - their detection depth did not fall and was the same as at home. found the pin at a depth equal to the length of the XPointer (about 20cm).

cop coins

In the coastal zone there is a phantom on the water. Reducing sensitivity cures this problem, but I didn’t do it because I didn’t look there. After all, to rummage in the water you need a scuba. I didn’t have that with me, so I focused on dry sand.

In custody.

I like beach search. If it weren’t for my laziness, I would have dug up more interesting things, but this is my result in two short trips: a silver chain with a pendant and 20 hryvnia 44 kopecks in change.

On the beach I saw only acevods (with self-propelled guns it doesn’t count). I'm sure that with mine I would have collected some interesting things from them. 😉

At the base where we stayed, at the end of our vacation there were almost half as many vacationers. But for some reason there weren’t any fewer of them on the beach. Apparently, we are not the only ones who are so “smart”: lovers of relaxation during the velvet season.

Over the past two years, since Crimea passed to Russian Federation, a lot has changed, but the treasure hunters remain, and their ranks have even swelled. Some moved to places with a warmer climate, others ended up here for some other reason.

In general, treasure hunting has always flourished in the Crimea, long before the advent of metal detectors that are now familiar to us. The history of the peninsula is rich and multifaceted. Many people come here to relax not empty-handed, but with their faithful companion - a metal detector!

In Crimea, you can relax with benefit not only on the beaches, but also in dense forests and open fields. Most vacationers, of course, come to the sea to bask on the beach and swim. But not everyone lies on their belly up and basks in the sun.

The morning jog began at about 5 am, along the beach along the embankment of the city of Sudak. I was passing through in this most beautiful place, and, waking up very early, decided to take a walk around the morning city. On the beach I counted three search engines. When the road led me to the village New World, I saw two more, and again early in the morning.

Near the village of New World

Driving through the village of Morskoye, we stopped at their beautiful beach, long braid with pebbles. There were just so many vacationers there, it was impossible to squeeze through. We stopped for the night, and early in the morning, crawling out of the tent, I noticed a tourist with an underwater device. And then I wondered if there were really so many search engines - in 2 days I had already seen six! And obviously a couple of them were not local.

The question inherent in most of those who want to take up this wonderful hobby is the same: “There are a lot of search engines, and in general, will I find anything or will I waste my time?” Spend time? If you want to take up this sport - yes, yes, sports, then you definitely should not be lazy. You will have to walk a lot. And bend over too.

I'll say this. Do you like to move and discover something new? If the answer is yes, then you will probably like instrument search.

Many people ask the question: “Why do we need a beach search? It's boring, just collecting garbage and walking! Not interested.

As a rule, this is said by people who have not really tried this type of search or because, for example, there are no beaches nearby. From my own experience I will say that it is just as interesting as walking in the forest or fields “in the old days.” Yes, there are no ancient fortresses or old villages. Yes, you will even have to get a special bag, in a separate pocket of which you will put bottle caps, aluminum can straps, cigarette foil, and aluminum cans. In a word, both stunning things and sewing needles and strange lead pebbles. In general, there will indeed be a lot of garbage.

Beach near the village of Popovka

It’s better to go out early in the morning, after dark, because then it’s incredibly hot and there are a lot of vacationers around

It’s not so rare to come across interesting jewelry on the beaches, including gold or coins brought by tourists. Personally, it was surprising for me to find a silver commemorative coin that somehow flew from the distant country of the USA to the Sevastopol beach, located not far from my home.

As I told in the last article, my “beach friend” found an admiral’s watch, which, after lying in salt water for a long time, continued to show local time.

In the morning, if you're lucky, you can save enough for gasoline, or milk and a bun for breakfast. According to local search engines, for summer season(June to October) you can do a good job of collecting small items.

The territory of Crimea was part of Ukraine for a long period, and, naturally, you still come across “Ukrainian walkers”, even in forests and fields. Oddly enough, you can also benefit from such finds - collect a certain amount and donate it to the bank. They definitely won’t refuse to accept you.

When a person begins to become interested in instrumental search, he often does not know where to start. I suggest practicing on the beach. If you went to sand beach, everything is much simpler there, you can work either with a scooper, or with a shovel, or even with a scoop altogether - the search will be simple.

But without a pinpointer, I’ll say, sometimes it’s inconvenient. Because finding a small earring or other small target in the sand is sometimes a little problematic. In this matter, a pinpointer will be a good helper for you.

There are also a lot of pebble beaches. There, in my opinion, a scuba would be out of place. It’s much more convenient with a shovel and scoop, and, of course, you can’t do without a pinpointer either.

Cossack Bay near the city of Sevastopol

On the territory of Crimea there are a lot of so-called “ wild beaches" Unfortunately, you won’t be able to lie there in comfort, and it will be difficult to walk along the beach. Huge stones, sometimes just a stone on a stone, and the bottom is not conducive to relaxing holiday on the water. But such beaches are often visited by both locals and tourists. Here you can calmly snorkel or go diving, hunt for fish or crabs. So people lose coins, jewelry or other things. But this happens more often in water.

Therefore, it is better to search with an underwater metal detector. In addition to this, for underwater searching at a depth of up to 3 meters you will need: comfortable shoes, a mask with a snorkel, and a bag for finds. You can make the bag yourself or purchase it at the store. There is nothing to say about an underwater metal detector; in my opinion, only in MDRegion stores can you buy a decent device of proper quality.

About metal detectors

For example, White's company offers a choice of two "submariners": Whites BeachHunter ID 300 or White's MXSport. With BeachHunter you can safely dive under water up to 7.5 meters, and with MXSport - up to 3 meters, you can also walk along the beach with it, and in general the Sport is suitable for any type of search.

Minelab also has plenty to choose from: this is the famous amphibious device CTX 3030, you can use it not only to find treasures in the forest, but also to conduct an underwater treasure hunt at depths of up to 3 meters. An old acquaintance, a great friend of all lovers of underwater searching, this is a metal detector Excalibur II, which allows diving up to 60 meters, it thrives in salt water. Easy to use, considered the best in the business.

And finally, my favorite company, Tesoro. Excellent, convenient and most importantly easy to use devices, no frills. I call them “modest search engines”. The company also produces underwater metal detectors. Eg, Tesoro Tiger Shark. I think it is an excellent device, simply excellent. Diving up to 60 meters, the search capabilities are not inferior to almost anyone. And the price is very reasonable.
