Sanatorium in Saint Vlas. What hotels in Sveti Vlas have nice views? Saint Vlas, Bulgaria. Great place for a holiday with children in Bulgaria

There is already a lot of information about St. Vlas on my website. This article will be a guide to my previous posts dedicated to the resort of St. Vlas.

Saint Vlas is small town or resort village, located near Sunny Beach and Burgas. I really like this town. Perhaps this is my favorite city in Bulgaria, in which I have already vacationed more than 5 times. The resort is great for a relaxing and inexpensive holiday summer in Bulgaria with children.

Saint Vlas is ideal for tourists who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle big city and immerse yourself in the measured rhythm of a small village on the Black Sea coast.

Walking around Saint Vlas

When people ask me where to spend their holidays with children in Bulgaria or where to go on holiday as a couple so that there are not so many tourists, I always recommend St. Vlas.

Sunsets in Saint Vlas

Why is a holiday in St. Vlas so good?

1) Empty beaches at the beginning and end of the swimming season. At the height of the season, there are also not as many people as in the more popular resorts of Bulgaria.

Empty beach at sunset in Sveti Vlas

2) The proximity of the village to the international airport, to which regular and charter flights fly from Russia throughout the year.

3) Located nearby large resort and an ancient Roman city, which can be reached by bus in 10 and 20 minutes, respectively.

Empty central beach of St. Vlas

4) New infrastructure - well-maintained and illuminated roads, many cafes and shops, a children's day camp and other types of leisure activities.

Well-maintained Saint Vlas

5) Saint Vlas is located on a small mountain and thus has a kind of unique microclimate. No wonder, back in Soviet time there was a sanatorium for those suffering from bronchial asthma.

View of Saint Vlas from the Nessebar embankment

6) The resort is located in the southern part of the Bulgarian coast and there is usually sunnier and warmer weather in summer and especially in the Velvet season than in the cities and towns of the Varna region.

Cons of the resort

1) There are no particular attractions in the village. However, this applies to 90% of all places in Bulgaria. For a long time it was under the patronage of Turkey, and in the 20th century it was part of the socialist camp under the control of the USSR. For history and architecture you need to go deep into Bulgaria or to neighboring countries, for example to Istanbul or Transylvania.

Majestic Istanbul

2) The town is quite small. The one next door has more entertainment venues such as nightclubs, water parks. In St. Vlas there is only a small disco in the very center of the city during the season. Sometimes on weekends there are parties at the yacht club. For some this may be a minus, because... I want more drive and movement. At the same time, for example, the neighboring one is even quieter. There is almost nothing there at all, except the sea, a couple of beaches and cafes.

3) There is no direct bus from Burgas airport to Saint Vlas. You need to go to Sunny Beach, and only then to the airport. In general, this increases travel time by 15-20 minutes. However, you can always use a taxi, which is not that expensive in Bulgaria.

How to get to Saint Vlas

The easiest way to get to Saint Vlas is through Burgas, which receives regular flights from S7 and Bulgaria Air every year. Also, in season, from May to October there is a large number of charter flights. It is better to buy tickets in advance. From personal experience I'll say that good price air tickets to Bulgaria for regular flights is .

Flights Moscow - Burgas for June

I monitored these prices back in March. Closer to summer, I think the average cost of a flight will be about 20 thousand rubles.

Not long ago I wrote a long review article. Come in and read it. There are many interesting flight options there. There are opportunities to build your own route to see other cities in Bulgaria or go to Istanbul.

How to get there from Burgas airport

I have also already published a detailed article about Burgas Airport. I don't want to duplicate content. In short, there are two ways:

1) The most convenient and fastest is a taxi. If you are traveling with children or with heavy suitcases, I think this option is more preferable. You can arrange a transfer right at the airport, but most likely it will not be the best option, especially if you arrive later than 23:00, when traffic stops public transport. They will charge a high price.

How to get to St. Vlas from Burgas airport

You can use the services of one of the taxi ordering services. I like . About him good feedback in the Internet. No need to call and look for a driver on the spot. The taxi driver will meet you at the exit with a sign with your name.

Meeting at the airport

The approximate cost of a trip to St. Vlas will be about 2000-2500 rubles.

Important note! In no way do I impose the services or places mentioned in the article. These are my recommendations for sites whose services I often use. You decide how you want to spend your vacation.

2) From Burgas airport to St. Vlas you can take a bus. Or rather, take two buses. First you need to take bus number 10, the stop of which is located next to the exit from the airport (you need to walk a little, across the road under the bridge). The bus goes to Sunny Beach. At the bus station you need to change to buses No. 5 or No. 8, which go to St. Vlas. The travel time will be about 1.5 hours, which is more than twice as long as a taxi, but the fare will be about 500 rubles for two buses per person. If you go alone or together it will be cheaper. The only point that I wrote about above is that after 23:00 the buses do not run and if you have a late flight, then there are no buses!

Beaches

There is a . There is also a map of St. Vlas. Beach photos. Recommendations for choosing housing. How much algae and other unpleasant vegetation there is in the sea.

Central beach of St. Vlas

Near east beach The yacht club of St. Vlas is located. A very pleasant place for daytime and evening walks.

Apartments and hotels

To the question of what is better, renting a hotel or an apartment for living in St. Vlas, I don’t have a clear answer.

Well-maintained Saint Vlas

I recommend booking a hotel for a short stay of up to 10 days. You won’t have much time, and the hotel usually cleans the rooms 1-2 times a day, breakfast is usually included, you can solve any minor problems that arise more quickly and with breakfast. You will save a little time on vacation, but you won’t lose much money, if you lose it at all.

Small hotels on the first line - typical development in Sveti Vlas

On the other hand, when booking an apartment, you can cook in the apartment. Sometimes this is very convenient. The last time we vacationed in Bulgaria was when Artem was 6 months old. He went to bed early and it was inconvenient to have dinner somewhere outside the house. But in an apartment you can put your child to sleep in the bedroom, and you can relax and have dinner in the next room.

Cafes and restaurants

There are a lot of cafes and restaurants in St. Vlas. Bulgarian and italian cuisine. Fast food and Chinese eateries. Sushi bars and respectable restaurants. You won't remain hungry.

The average bill in a cafe is approximately 25-30 leva for two. In restaurants the price tag is higher. A full dinner there will cost about 40-50 levs.

My favorite cafe in Sveti Vlas is Central Pizzeria, located on central square cities. Good service and nice view of the city. It's delicious and inexpensive here.

Central square of St. Vlas

Also on my blog there was previously a separate article about. All the logins and passwords are there. Map of the city with the location of the cafe. Also in the article I mention places where we did not like the food and service.

The shops

Almost every street in the city has a small store or grocery store. On the outskirts of the village, two large stores, similar to Auchan, were built. There are never any problems buying food for yourself. Private shops are open until midnight, which is very convenient.

Large supermarkets

The first Mercury hypermarket is located at the exit of the city on the road to Sunny Beach. It has a large selection of products and household chemicals. We also bought diapers for our child here. In children's stores their prices were higher.

Food prices are not much different from private shops located throughout the resort. There's just more choice. This is especially true for meat. In Mercury, we often bought chicken for soup (about 200-230 rubles per kg). By the way, meat in Bulgaria will cost more than in Russia.

Pomegranates grow on trees - beautiful!

On the opposite side of Sveti Vlas, another ParkMart hypermarket was recently built. Been there a couple of times. The range of products seemed similar to Mercury to me. The store itself is newer and cleaner. But prices are higher than in other supermarkets in the city. When we were on vacation in 2019, the store was empty. I wouldn't be surprised if it closes in 2020.

Private stores

There are a lot of small shops and stands with fruits and vegetables. Prices for vegetables and fruits vary depending on the country of production. Bulgarian products are naturally cheaper. Prices for fruits and vegetables depend on the season. For example, in June local cherries and strawberries are very cheap. Peaches, plums and apricots, etc. ripen in August.

Small store near our complex

For children

There are a lot of different shops in the city. At the resort you can buy everything you need for a holiday with children. Last year we went on vacation with our child for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised that everything necessary for my son could be purchased without leaving big cities.

We bought a pool for Artem for the next season. In the meantime, He sleeps great in it during the day :)

In St. Vlas there is a chain of Tema children's stores where you can buy goods for children. Prices are approximately the same as ours in Moscow.

Other products

On the main street there are pavilions of household goods and clothing stores. They sell sheepskin coats and leather jackets, most likely brought from neighboring Turkey and Greece. Sometimes you come across interesting knitwear, swimsuits and other beach accessories.

On the main street there is a local cosmetics store called Refan. We constantly buy soap and moisturizers there. The prices are moderate and the quality is excellent!

Pharmacies

There are two large pharmacies in the center. I marked one of them on the map. We bought eye drops for Artem there when our son developed slight conjunctivitis. Apparently he got it with his hands while sunbathing on the beach. The doctor recommended excellent drops for us. Everything went away in 2-3 days. So, if it’s something more serious, it’s better to call your insurance right away. A little later I’ll write about travel insurance, which we always take out when we go on vacation.

Prices here are much lower if you take out insurance through all sorts of visa centers. You know, there are such “rafiki” near embassies. When applying for a Schengen visa, you always need insurance. So they sell it there to those who forgot to buy it in advance at double the price. Therefore, I strongly recommend purchasing insurance in advance. Later I will publish a series of articles on this topic, in which cases this or that insurance is more profitable.

Currency exchange

There are a lot of exchange kiosks. They change euros, dollars and even rubles everywhere. The leva exchange rate is the same everywhere. "Black" exchangers with hidden commission and no other crap at all. Of course, it is more profitable to exchange currency in Burgas or Varna. However, I don’t see the point in going specifically to large cities in order to save a few leva. Spend more money on travel.

Rent a Car

Walking around the city, I saw a couple of car rental offices. I didn’t find out the prices, because... I didn’t plan to actively travel around the country on this trip.

View of old Nessebar

It seems to me that it is easier to rent a car in advance. Now in RuNet there are many different services and aggregators for searching for car rentals. I recommend a proven car booking service -. The good thing about it is that you can choose the office you are interested in and book a car. Russian interface and convenient search. The site works as a specialized search engine, similar to the services of aviasales or skyscanner. Not just for air tickets, but for car rentals.

Excursions

In St. Vlas you can book excursions to many destinations in Bulgaria. You can go to Istanbul or Romania. There are many offices in the city. I prefer to drive on my own.

I recently came out. In it I share what you can see in Bulgaria in a week. I describe our movements in detail. I provide the cost of the trip and the time spent in each city.

Cost of a holiday in Saint Vlas

Let me summarize briefly. The table shows approximate figures based on our travels in Bulgaria. Travel duration is 10-12 days. To plan your budget, you can add or remove unnecessary expense items. For example, if you don’t plan to rent a car or go on excursions, these items can be excluded and the cost will be lower.

Sveti Vlas (Sveti Vlas)- it's new and modern Bulgarian resort For family vacation. When tourists are shown a photo of St. Vlas and are not told what kind of place it is, few people realize that this resort is located in Bulgaria; associations rather arise with Cote d'Azur France or other fashionable places in Europe. Several new hotels and residential complexes by the seashore. You can choose accommodation in modern hotels from 2 to 4 stars, and you can rent apartments. There are plenty of attractions and entertainment for both children and adults, although St. Vlas is still considered a calm and prestigious resort. A modern yacht marina, one of the best in Europe, was built here. Here you can moor a yacht of any class; exciting boat trips across the Black Sea. Holidays in St. Vlas have earned the most flattering reviews from guests.

Elenite- a miniature town with very thoughtful and organic architecture. In order to preserve the natural landscapes, the development here was carried out mainly with snow-white villas and bungalows with red tiled roofs, all in a special charming style. And all this against the backdrop of mountains and rich southern greenery. Elenite is more like closed country club rather than to a resort mass tourism. For accommodation in Elenite there are two enough large hotels, as well as 1 - 2-storey villas. The all-inclusive system operates. The price-quality ratio is optimal. At the resort you will find: tennis courts, an equestrian center, a yacht club, a water park (with free entry!), restaurants offering masterpieces of national Bulgarian cuisine and, of course, spacious beaches of golden sand. Children will be offered children's programs, swimming pools and attractions. Elenite began to be built only in 1985, is one of the youngest and most environmentally friendly clean resorts on Black Sea coast Bulgaria.

Sveti Vlas (Bulgaria), you will find a photo in the article - absolutely small town-resort named after the Great Martyr Vlas, who lived in a monastery on the territory of the city. “Me and the World” will tell you what interesting things to see and where to go in the resort of St. Vlas.

Picturesque corners

On the map of Bulgaria the town is surrounded famous places: 40 km from international airport Burgas, 2 km from famous resort Sunny Beach and 10 km from the ancient, beautiful city Nessebar.

Warm Black Sea, special healing climate with iodine sea water and clean mountain air have given the resort a good reputation. This is where people with lung diseases try to come. Holidays with children here are a great success, because children also acquire immunity for the whole year by breathing in the healing air.

By the way, coming here with very young children is not a problem. Any baby food can be bought in large stores or pharmacies.

The resort has everything you need for children: shallow pools, playgrounds with many play areas, children's entertainment clubs, workshops, where every child will find something to their liking.

Here the holiday is calmer and less noisy, so lovers of noisy entertainment can drive to Sunny Beach or even move to this famous holiday center in Bulgaria.

The resort of Sveti Vlas is still very young, it began to develop only in the 60s of the last century, but its description can take a long time. And now the recreation area continues to be built up, although during the beach season, construction stops for a while.

Rich Bulgarians, city mayors and deputies prefer to spend their time here. The family of the country's president also has their own summer residence near the local golden beaches.

By the way, for those who wish to move here for permanent residence, a premium class housing complex was recently built. Prices for apartments start from 41,600 euros. And the beach is only 600 m.

The most interesting

There are not many attractions in St. Vlas, but you can visit several preserved temples and modern buildings. Many monasteries were destroyed, and those that were almost untouched were restored in the 20th century. You can also visit several preserved monasteries.

At the beginning of May, the city celebrates St. Blaise's Day. In his honor, residents decorate their houses with the most beautiful flowers and greenery.

A walk along two streets specially laid out for tourists is a must. There are many shops, cafes, restaurants and beautiful views of the sea.

Prices in cafes and restaurants in St. Vlas are quite high, but if compared with Sunny Beach, it is better to dine at a quiet resort. For example, lunch for two with alcohol will cost from 68 Bulgarian leva (approximately 2,500 rubles). A hot dish starts from 350 rubles, and a bottle of wine starts from 240 rubles.

Such an expensive pleasure is not for every day, so according to tourists’ reviews, it is better to eat in the numerous cafes scattered throughout the resort.

Fun things to do

There is not much entertainment at the resort. In addition to the aforementioned shops and restaurants, you can come to the amphitheater, where performances, music concerts, shows for the whole family, folk songs and dances take place throughout the season.

The port hosts an international sailing regatta at the end of July. These days the bay is full of snow-white yachts sailing from all over Europe. The photo is a stunning sight!

Fashion shows, beauty contests and vintage motorcycle parades are also held here. Wine tasting excursions are organized for tourists, short trips to Istanbul and others. You can rent a car and visit neighboring Sunny Beach, where entertainment is available for every taste and color. With children, visit the Action water park with inexpensive prices. It's better to have fun here when there is not a large influx of people.

For many tourists the day is spent on beautiful beaches quiet resort. They are located in small bays, convenient for entering the sea. There are only three beaches and all of them are protected. Entrance is free, money is only charged for renting sun loungers.

And the best part is a massage right on the shore, by the experienced hands of real Balinese - strong, but moderately relaxing. Under the pleasant sound of the waves.

Transport connection

It is very easy to get to Saint Vlas from the airport. You need to take a bus and get to the resort, but through Sunny Beach. Or you can take a taxi for 160 levs (5,900 rubles).

At any time you can take a bus to neighboring towns and have a lot of fun in Sunny Beach or plunge into the history of ancient Nessebar. Transport leaves once every half hour.

Those who want to visit the country choose which is better: Sunny Beach - with its noisy entertainment and a large influx of tourists. Or quiet, pleasant Sveti Vlas. In any case, it’s up to you to choose and have a wonderful time!

Saint Vlas is a small town named after the patron of trade, God Veles. Apparently, the patron does his job very well, because young Saint Vlas is developing rapidly and becoming very popular resort Bulgaria. There are at least two reasons for this: convenient location and healing climate.

Saint Vlas is located 40 km from Burgas International Airport, 5 km from the largest and bustling resort in the country - Sunny Beach and 9 km from the ancient and quiet Nessebar. Having “registered” on the green foothills of Stara Planina on the Black Sea coast, the town has secured a reputation for itself as an excellent balneotherapy clinic: it has a special microclimate that combines a soft sea breeze enriched with iodine ions and the purest mountain air. Many vacationers go to St. Vlas precisely to improve their lung health.

Hotels

IN last years The resort has built many comfortable hotels and boarding houses, mostly 4* and 3*. There is only one five-star hotel so far - “Garden of Eden”. Restaurants and bars, swimming pools and saunas, spa and fitness centers, tennis courts and billiards, beauty salons and internet cafes are available to guests.

Apartments by the sea will cost about 80-150 BGN per day, and in the Old Town - at least three times cheaper - 40-60 BGN.

Maps of Saint Vlas

Beaches of St. Vlas

The beaches in the resort of St. Vlas are wide, sandy, with small bays suitable for swimming. There are 3 of them with a total length of 1.5 km. Two beaches - “Central” and “Marina” - are located on both sides of the yacht harbor. Both are guarded and in the evenings, after the vacationers leave, they are put in order. These beaches have many bars, volleyball courts and water equipment rentals. South of Central Beach There is another rather narrow pebble and sand beach called “Camping”. All beaches are free. They only charge money for sunbeds.

St. Vlas has a beautiful view of the sea: on one side - the lights of a noisy Sunny Beach, opposite is a peninsula with the ancient city of Nessebar.

Entertainment and attractions of St. Vlas

In Saint Vlas there is no seaside embankment, passing through the entire city, but there are two main tourist streets: Tsar Simeon with many shops and vegetable stalls, and Mak Street, parallel to the Marina Dinevi yacht marina, with many restaurants and beautiful views of the sea.

One of the main attractions in St. Vlas is the restored Church of Athanasius the Great, built in 1864-65.

Once upon a time, Saint Vlas itself was called the “Kyuchuk Monastery” - there were many monasteries in its vicinity, but at the turn of the 18th century they were destroyed. Only the churches of Blachernae and St. Andrew, as well as many monasteries, have survived to this day.

In Saint Vlas itself, on the stage of the open amphitheater of the Arena complex, theatrical performances are held throughout the season, musical programms, shows and fun evenings, and in the port of Marina Dinevi there are two yacht regattas, retro motorcycle parades, beauty contests, fashion shows, presentations and other interesting events.
