Infrastructure of Simiz

The village has everything you need for a holiday. This is of course not Big city with excellent developed infrastructure, but cafes, restaurants, clubs, pharmacies, housing for every taste - all this is present. Yes, there are areas on the outskirts of the village where there may not even be lighting, and it’s a long walk to the center. From Simeiz it is quite convenient to go on excursions to the sights of the South Coast. This fact is also worth noting, since it is not typical for all resorts, even those on the South Coast.

Beaches of Simeiz

As I already mentioned, the beaches in Simeiz are pebbly, large-pebble and rocky. Quite typical for the South Coast resort. There may be large stones at the entrance to the water.

The most convenient beach is Central City Beach. You can go down to it along the street. Sovetskaya, through a picturesque park with delightful air and funny inhabitants. The beach is equipped with everything you need. During the season it is incredibly crowded. Here is an interesting landmark of Simeiz - the Diva rock. On the opposite side of the village, in the easternmost part of the coast, there are boathouse beaches. The beach here is small-pebble, equipped and quite comfortable. If you stay in a boathouse, the sea is literally two steps away. But such pleasure will not come cheap.

Behind him stretched the Moscow beach. It is named after the children's sanatorium, to whose territory it belongs. Ideal for a holiday with children. There are few people here, the entrance is gentle, and the beach itself is small pebbles.

What to see in Simeiz

It's nice to wander around Simeiz. Narrow streets, plenty of greenery, interesting buildings, parks - everything is conducive to leisurely walks.

I have already mentioned one attraction - rock Diva, which is on the Central Beach of Simeiz. Filmmakers love this very rock. She managed to appear in the films “Sappho”, “Ten Little Indians”, “Savages”, “Amphibian Man”.

Above Central beach another one rises interesting rockPanea. From here you have a stunning view of the village. And while walking along the mountain, you can stumble upon the ruins of ancient defensive structures.

Right there, above the beach and the Diva rock - fragrant park Simeiz. Not only is the park clean, well-groomed and very beautiful, but there are also such smells in the air that words cannot describe it.

Simeiz village. General information

Simeiz is an urban village on the southern coast of Crimea, a large resort and health resort of national importance. The village of Simeiz is located between the city of Alupka and the village of Katsiveli on the eastern slope of Mount Koshka. The eastern border of the village with Alupka runs between the Medvedchuk Palace (Simeiz) and the Bobrov Sanatorium (Alupka). The western border of the village of Simeiz runs between the Blue Bay water park and the radio telescope (this is Katsiveli). The village is bordered from the north by the Yalta-Sevastopol highway. The central street of the village of Simeiz - Sovetskaya Street - divides locality into two parts. At the bottom there are large sanatoriums, on the territory of which there is a large and best part pre-revolutionary resort, in the upper - private sector and the lion's share of private hotels and inns.

The population of the village of Simeiz is about four thousand people, and taking into account its satellites Katsiveli, Ponizovka, Blue Bay, Opolznevoy, Kastropol and Parkovoy - almost seven thousand inhabitants. IN high season these villages will be able to accommodate up to one hundred thousand vacationers at a time.

Nature and climate of the village of Simeiz

The village of Simeiz is located on a coastal slope, which at the beginning of the nineteenth century seemed steep and even dangerous to travelers. Now the settlement is covered by a network of roads, but the slope remains solid, which is why local roads are laid with serpentines. In addition to the already mentioned Sovetskaya, the main streets of the village of Simeiz are Gorky, Lugovsky, Vasilchenko and Krasnomayakskaya streets in the western part of the village, and Zvezdnaya, Ganskogo and Baranova in the eastern part.

The coastal part of the village has good, albeit small, beaches.
In the western part, the proximity to Mount Cat has a negative impact on the quality of the beaches - everything is covered with large stones and even fragments of rocks. The rocks Diva, Panea and the Swan's Wing form the suite of Mount Cat, which itself is the end of the small Limensky ridge, mobile and, like every limestone formation, fragile. The indicated fragility of the limestone rock leads to the destruction of Mount Koshka and the formation of stone chaos both on its eastern and southern slopes. The southern stone chaos, which in our time has become a conservation zone along with its water area, does not give the resort a single chance to grow in a westerly direction.

The eastern coast of the village of Simeiz also cannot boast good beaches- there are too many stones and large pebbles, the coastal zones are too narrow, which are claimed by thousands of vacationers.

The village of Simeiz can confidently be called green village. Despite the ongoing construction, visually this settlement gives the impression of a green island among a pile of rocks and stones near Mount Koshka.

Large generations of juniper grow in Simeiz, especially in the lower park and on the seemingly barren stones of stone chaos. Juniper became one of the reasons for the opening of so many anti-tuberculosis sanatoriums in the village of Simeiz, because science already knows the important role of phytoncides of this coniferous species in the fight against pulmonary diseases.

There are countless cypress trees in Simeiz; they grow wherever there is room. In the parks you can see many exotic trees and shrubs, but in the village of Simeiz itself, it is not palm trees that hold the palm, but the same cypresses, pines and figs.

Simeiz is famous for its warm and dry climate. It is well protected by Mount Cat from the western and northwestern winds. The mountains of the Main Range above the village in this part are higher than above the same Kastropol and Foros. Summers here are very mild, rain falls sporadically, strong winds infrequent. Winter comes late, the warmth sometimes recedes closer to November, and you can swim in the sea until mid-October. True, spring comes to the village of Simeiz later than in Simferopol - at the end of April, and spring can be windy and whiny, although it is extremely cold in Simeiz, and sub-zero temperatures during the day occur on a few days a year.

Infrastructure of the village of Simeiz

The village of Simeiz is a developed, established resort, its name is well known, the names of its hotels and sanatoriums are among the most desirable places Crimean holiday. Service in resort establishments is growing steadily, barely keeping up with prices. The village of Simeiz is an expensive resort, although it is too large to talk about any established price level. In the vicinity of Simeiz, vacation prices are lower, although an increase in the cost of rental housing is a general Crimean trend.

As befits a resort, the village of Simeiz has everything so that vacationers do not feel cut off from civilization. There are many shops, cafes, and food and manufactured goods markets, but prices there during the high season are generally significantly higher than in the country. There are branches of several banks and salons in Simeiz mobile communications, Internet shops, a souvenir market, wine shops and cellars, pharmacies, canteens and a whole legion of hotels, inns, guest houses, villas, apartments and just rooms for overnight stay. There is only one working in Simeiz Orthodox church and the Juma-Jami Mosque. Eat high school And kindergarten.

New house between the Simeiz sanatorium
and the Ligo Morskaya hotel

The village of Simeiz has good transport facilities. Directly from the village you can go along the upper highway to Yalta, bus No. 42 runs along this route, routes No. 107 and 115 pass through Alupka, and the first of them starts from Katsiveli, passing sequentially Ponizovka, Blue Bay and Upper Simeiz. Buses to Simferopol and Sevastopol constantly leave from the bus station in the village of Simeiz. For those who want to quickly leave the village, you need to choose the upper route, because the narrow lower one, especially in summer, is clogged with traffic.

Simeiz village and mountains

Mount At-Bash (1196 meters) rises directly above the village of Simeiz. This is the most high mountain section of the Main Ridge, lying above Simeiz and one of the most beautiful. Mount Ai-Petri is also visible from the village. Below Main ridge Two more notable mountains stand apart - Chaka-Tysh (931 meters) and Nishan-Kaya (871 meters). Even below these peaks, the forest burned out considerably in 2007, namely, coming out of neighboring Simeizu Alupka. Of interest are the small rocks directly above the route - scenic spots, which can be visited by walking along numerous paths between the new and old Sevastopol highways.

In addition, there is an asphalt road between them - Zapovednaya Street.

The legend of Simeiz - how the village came to be

History says that it arose before our era. At the gates of Simeiz, archaeologists discovered a settlement of Taurians who lived in ancient times. Simeiz served as a shelter - fortresses and fortifications were built on its territory. Near Mount Koshka there are burial grounds of the Taurians.

Later, the territory of Simeiz passed to the Genoese, and then to the Ottomans. They turned it into a small village.

Since 1828, the settlement passed from hand to hand for a long time. In the 20th century, the resort village of New Simeiz was built on the territory. Construction of a park and cottages has begun.

During the war, in 1941, local residents became partisans. Simeiz was occupied, many residents died. In 1944 it was liberated by Soviet troops.

After the war, the village began to develop: buildings were reconstructed, sanatoriums and rest homes, including children’s ones, were opened.

Story

In the 1st century BC. Tauris lived on the territory of the village. During the construction of dachas in the 20th century, amphorae, flint tools and clay dishes were discovered in this area. The Tauri were hostile to the rest of the civilized world, they were engaged in piracy and sacrificial rituals. Living by the sea, the Taurians did not build ships, they only plundered shipwrecks. Stone burial boxes, the so-called dolmens, have been preserved in Simeiz. In the 2nd-3rd century BC. the Tauri tribes disappeared and the territory was empty for many years.

In the 4th-7th centuries, Alans and Goths lived on the territory of Simeiz. After capturing Crimea, the Turks dominated this territory for about 300 years. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the population of Simeiz increased. Residents of the Caucasus and Asia Minor began to move here. In the 18th century, Crimea was annexed to Russia.

Until the 19th century in Simeiz there were 18 farmsteads on the western side and 21 farmsteads on the east side. In total, no more than 200 people lived on the territory. By the middle of the 19th century, 400 people lived in Simeiz.

Since 1828, since the time when Second Major I.A. Maltsov acquired land in Simeiz, a lot of things have changed. The peculiarity of the further construction of buildings was that the major did not build new dachas, but improved the railway cars. Thus, about 10 such dachas were made, where not too wealthy tourists could come to relax.

The Maltsov brothers gradually began investing cash in the development of the village. The water supply and sewerage system was designed by engineer Ya.P. Semenov, more than 5 km of streets were laid.

In 1912, the population of the village was 550 people, and the first tourists appeared. Prince G. Potemkin was one of the first to acquire land in Simeiz. He started oil plantations. Landscape park appeared in the village thanks to the efforts of Countess A.S. Pototskaya.

In 1913, 89 plots that were improved by the Maltsov brothers were sold for 5-25 rubles per 1 sq.m. The lands were sold only with the understanding that dachas and boarding houses would be built on this territory.

In 1941, the village was occupied by the Germans until 1944. Simeiz recovered closer to 1955. Holiday homes and boarding houses were created: Moscow, Simeiz, Pioneer, Yunost, Red Mayak and Blue Bay. In Simeiz, special attention is paid to winemaking; wine cellars, which have survived to this day.

Sights and excursions

There are many interesting and varied attractions on the territory of Simeiz and its surroundings.

This is landscape natural monument, which rises 254 meters above sea level. She looks like an animal that is getting ready to jump. At the top is the Limena-Kale fortress. The Tauride Castle, built on the ruins of a defensive structure in the 14th century, is very well preserved. From the top of the mountain there are amazing panoramic views, and its sides are represented by rocky cliffs.

  • Rock Diva. This is also a natural monument, beckoning with its splendor. It consists of limestone, height 45 m. At the top there is Observation deck. If you look at the rock from the sea, you can see the profile of a girl. The rock was photographed during the filming of films such as 10 Little Indians and Amphibian Man. The Diva Rock, like the previous attraction, is included in the coat of arms of the village of Simeiz.

  • Simeiz Observatory. She is astronomical and research. It was built in 1912. This is one of the oldest Crimean observatories. When the Nazis occupied the peninsula, they could not leave it alone, as a result of which it was destroyed and looted. The telescopic part was taken to Germany. She was found there in 1945, her condition left much to be desired. Almost immediately it was restored, and later completely refurbished.

  • Juma-Jami Mosque. The building was built at the beginning of the last century. When power passed to the USSR, it was operated as a kindergarten, a holiday home and even a police station. In 22, the minaret collapsed. Only in 1994 the mosque was handed over to Muslims. Not long ago it was completely restored.
  • Villas “Dream” and “Ksenia”. The first of them was erected in 1911 in oriental style. The building is very beautiful, it is compared to the palace of the padishah. Two years later, the villa “Ksenia” was built not far from it. Countess Chuykevich owned it, but she had never been in the house, which was distinguished by its grace, Gothic balconies, windows, and sharp roofing. Later, the villa became first a hotel, then a house with communal apartments. Unfortunately, today the appearance of this building is terrifying; locals call it a haunted house, which is perhaps why it never ceases to attract tourists.

  • Pension N.K. Alexandrova-Dolnik. This is the largest building of the pre-revolutionary era. The building consists of 3 floors in the style of neo-Renaissance and neoclassicism. The apartments were built to simultaneously accommodate 70 people.

Beaches and embankments

Simeiz has an embankment, but it was destroyed by a storm in 2015. Its recovery is expected. However, it still offers beautiful views of the sea. The beaches of the village are very attractive. They are covered with small pebbles, which are very pleasant to walk on, even creating the feeling of a light massage. Thanks to pebbles, the water is clear and clean. The bottom is visible even when swimming to depth. This is especially attractive to those who like to snorkel.

The good news is that in Simeiz there is no paid beaches. There are some beach areas owned by boarding houses, upon entry to which you must present a valid health certificate. If you don’t have it with you, don’t worry, the choice is wide. There are four public beaches in the village - “Coral”, “Frigate”, the citywide one and the one located near the hotel. They are all very popular local residents, and among tourists.

The city-wide beach is located almost opposite the village center. It's very easy to get to. The territory is very beautiful and convenient, including entry into the sea. Here you can rent a sunbed and umbrella. Vacationers have access to attractions and vendors who offer different delicacies to try. It is on this beach that there are a lot of tourists, especially during the high season.

Another public beach, Fregate, is located at the foot of the Diva rock. It is small, and when a storm rages, it can be flooded. There are few vacationers here, and the entrance to the water is even more convenient. The peculiarity of Fregat beach is the beautiful emerald color of the sea. Even during a storm, the water does not become cloudy. Here you can also rent beach equipment and buy food.

Coral Beach is located on the western side of the Diva rock. It is interesting that for a long time it was private, which violated the law. Only since 2014 has everyone been able to visit this territory. Coral Beach is small, with huge boulders along the edges. The water here is clean, but food is not sold and beach equipment is not rented.

Another public beach, located near the hotel in the eastern part of the village, is sparsely populated. You can't rent umbrellas or sun loungers here, but you can buy food. There is even a nudist beach in Simeiz. Admission to it is free. Since it is specific, there are few tourists there.
