The tallest water park slide in the world. The tallest water slides in the world. Water slides: Cliffhanger

On May 8, 1976, a real revolution took place in the world of roller coasters. The world's first steel loop coaster opened at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California. Nowadays, a loop is far from the worst thing that the creators of attractions are ready to offer to adrenaline junkies who line up in long lines around the world to tickle their nerves. We invite you to virtually ride the ten scariest roller coasters in the world!

Attention: for the faint of heart, those afraid of heights and people with a weak vestibular system, it is better not to look any further!

(Total 10 photos + 10 videos)

1. Silver Star, Europa Park, Rust (Baden), Germany

"Silver Star" - the highest roller coaster in Europe, has been tickling German nerves of steel since 2002. Using a system of chain lifts, they will first slowly lift you to a height of 73 meters, and then drop and circle at speeds of up to 130 km/h.

2. Tower of Terror II, Dreamworld, Queensland, Australia

The first Tower of Terror, opened in 1997, managed to scare more than 8 million Australians, and in 2010 it was launched again and became even scarier. Riders exit the tunnel and reach the top of the vertical tower in 7 seconds at a maximum speed of 161 km/h. At the top of a 35-meter tower, they hover for a moment, after which they fall down in horror.

3. Steel Dragon 2000, Nagashima Spa Land, Kuwana, Mie Prefecture, Japan

The Steel Dragon is no longer the fastest or tallest coaster, but it is still the longest. It is also the most expensive ever made due to the amount of steel used in its construction to make the coaster earthquake resistant. But, even if we don’t take earthquakes into account, this monster definitely deserves its place in our top ten.

4. Kingda Ka, Six Flags Great Adventure, New Jersey, USA

Kingda Ka is a long-timer in the world of roller coasters, but to this day remains the tallest coaster in the world with a dizzying record of 139 meters. However, the attraction has had many problems throughout its history. In 2005, the slide suffered a variety of mechanical damage, affecting the starting motor and rope system. Fortunately, all problems were completely fixed, but in 2009, Kingda Ka was struck by lightning, causing further damage. Now this is really scary...

5. Intimidator 305, Kings Dominion, Virginia, USA

A relative newcomer to the roller coaster world, Intimidator 305 (the name alone makes it scary...) won the 2010 Golden Ticket Award for best new roller coaster.

6. Dodonpa, Fuji-Q Highland, Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan.

How can slides surprise thrill-seekers if they are no longer the fastest, highest or longest? Doponda knows the answer - the biggest acceleration! Having confused riders with a not-so-fast start, Doponda suddenly accelerates to 172 km/h in... attention... 1.8 seconds! And then it throws you up and down in an almost vertical loop.

7. Superman: Escape from Krypton, Six Flags Magic Mountain, California, USA

Until 2011, Superman: Escape from Krypton was known as simply Superman: Escape. But with a new coat of paint and the addition of backwards-moving carts, a new superhero of the amusement ride world was born. Speeding up to 160 km/h and rising to a height of 126.5 meters, the updated Superman knows exactly how to get your adrenaline pumping.

8. Thunder Dolphin, Tokyo Dome City, Tokyo, Japan

The Thunder Dolphin is quite modest in terms of speed, altitude and acceleration compared to other participants in the list, but it has its own unique “trick” that is why it ended up on it. The Dolphin's path passes through a concrete ring and also goes around a real building at a nerve-wracking distance.

9.Formula Rossa Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Formula Rossa - on this moment The fastest roller coaster in the world. Accelerates to 240 km/h in less than 5 seconds. The speed is so high that those sitting in the front row have to wear special safety glasses to avoid damaging their eyes.

Another ride from the same park, but it's worth it. These slides are “with a twist”, and in the most literal sense of the word. Eejanaika is a so-called 4D coaster, which actually means that in addition to the usual ups, downs and loops, you also get... 360 degree rotating seats! Could the attractions get any scarier?

Each vacationer has his own idea water activities. For some, just splashing around in a pool of clean water is enough. Well, there are also extreme sports enthusiasts who absolutely need the highest water slide in the world to be completely happy. Every year there are more and more such entertainments in the world and the roller coasters are getting higher. The bulk of such entertainment is located overseas, but in Europe there are several attractions that can easily be classified as the highest water slides.

Spain, VertiGo attraction

In 2013, the tallest capsule slide opened in Benidorm, Spain. The height of this slide is 33 meters, but there is also a lower one nearby - for those who are afraid to immediately climb to such a height. The first daredevils who dared to try such entertainment were simply breathtaking from the sensations. Some shouted, others crossed themselves, others simply closed their eyes so as not to see everything that was happening. This is not surprising, because the speed at which a person rushes down a special capsule is about 100 km/h.

On the opening day of the slide, the pool gathered a large number of people who wanted to see the faces of those who dared such an adventure. Inside the capsule, under the person’s feet, there is a special hatch that opens upon a signal from the attraction worker. An instant - and the extreme sportsman is already flying down, and the speed of the fall is constantly increasing. Before tourists were allowed on the slide, it was tested by rescuers working in this water park.

UAE, Dubai, Jumeirah Sceirah

The Middle East also did not want to lag behind, and a capsule water slide was built in the Emirates, which is in no way inferior to the Spanish attraction. After the vacationer climbs to a height of 33 meters, he will have to rapidly descend along a plastic chute at great speed. After the initial acceleration, it seems to the tourist that everything will go smoothly, but somewhere in the middle of the journey he suddenly falls down, almost in free fall. This section of the slide is the most attractive for thrill-seekers.

During the entire period of operation of this attraction, no accidents were recorded on this slide (except, of course, for the loss of some swimwear on the way down).

Brazil, Fortaleza, Insano water slide

This attraction is not only the tallest water slide in the world, but also a Guinness Book of Records record holder. It is located in the water park Beach Park, near the Brazilian city of Fortaleza. Its name Insano means crazy, and one cannot but agree with this. The height of this slide is equal to the height of a 14-story building (41 meters). Not only is it very high, but the descent along it is almost vertical, which adds even more extreme excitement to tourists. During the 5 seconds that the descent lasts, a person reaches a speed of up to 105 km/h, and this is the speed of a speeding car.

After a successful descent, the vacationer has the opportunity to watch a video of his adventure, and even take the recording with him as a souvenir. Such shots can be watched over and over again. True, access to such entertainment is not available to everyone. Pregnant women, children whose height has not reached 140 cm and people with cardiovascular disorders are strictly prohibited from entering the attraction.

Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Mount Kilimanjaro

This water slide fully lives up to its name (Kilimanjaro is the most high mountain Africa). Anyone who wants to ride from such a mountain is asked to cover 50 meters in 5 seconds. The maximum speed achieved during the descent is about 90 km/h. The attraction's employees keep their own statistics and claim that one in twenty visitors does not dare to overcome this path and goes back down. Not everyone has the courage to dare such a risky act.

United States, Kansas City, Verruckt

The tallest water slide in the world recently opened in the USA at the Schlitterbahn water park. The height of this attraction is almost 52 meters. She surpassed in height and Niagara Falls, and the Statue of Liberty, although there are not so many desperate daredevils ready to descend from such a height.

A spiral climb consisting of 264 steps leads to the very top of the slide, where those wishing to ride are seated in four-person rubber rafts and tightly tied to them. During the first tests of this attraction, engineers were unable to ensure that the sandbags (they were tested on) did not come off the slide and did not rise into the air. For greater safety, the chute itself along which the descent takes place is fenced with a mesh. This is really necessary, because the speed at which the daredevil descends is approximately 120 km/h.

The world's tallest water slide is currently closed. Unfortunately, a child recently died on this attraction. Full details of this incident are not yet fully known, but there are rumors that he was thrown from the front seat and broke his neck on the upper guard of the chute. Official version not yet, but the mere fact that a 10-year-old teenager was allowed onto this attraction is already a matter of jurisdiction. The fact is that entry to this slide is allowed only from 14 years of age.

It is still unknown whether this water slide will open again or not, but this incident will cool some hotheads of some extreme sports enthusiasts a little. After all, for a good rest it is not at all necessary to climb to such a height and risk your life.

The roller coaster is now business card for all modern amusement parks without exception.

Kingda Ka- today it is the highest (139 meters) and 2nd fastest roller coaster in the world (after the world's fastest roller coaster, Formula Rossa in the UAE, accelerating up to 240 km/h). They were opened in 2005 at Six Flags, New Jersey, USA. The trolley accelerates to 206 km/h in 3.5 seconds, rises to the top of the tower and rolls down under its own weight. At the time of opening, they set 4 records: they were the highest and fastest slides, and also had a drop angle of 90° and a steep drop section of 120 meters in length. The trolley accelerates to 190 km/h.

3rd place - Superman: Escape from Krypton (USA)

Superman: Escape from Krypton
is the third tallest roller coaster in the world, located at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California, USA. The height of the structure is 126.5 meters. The height of the fall is 100 meters. Tower of Terror II- the fourth highest roller coaster in the world (115 meters). Located at Dreamworld, Queensland, Australia. The height of the fall is 99.9 meters. The trolley accelerates to 160.9 km/h. The attraction opened in 1997 under the name Tower of Terror. In 2010, it was reconstructed and the number 2 was added to the name.

5th place - Steel Dragon 2000 (Japan)

Steel Dragon 2000- closes the top five tallest roller coasters in the world (height 97 meters). The attraction is located in Japan in the Nagashima Spa Land park. They are considered the longest such roller coaster in the world. The length of the track is 2479 m. The height of the fall is 93 meters. Opened in 2003.

Its height was 41 meters.

Schlitterbahn Water Park opened last year. The most steep slide, Verrückt, reaches 52 meters in height, which is a full half meter taller than the Statue of Liberty. The spiral climb takes professional risk-takers to the very top, where they are divided into teams of 4, seated on rubber rafts and rushed down at a speed of 120 km/h.

Let's take a closer look at it...

"Verrückt" translated from German means "crazy" - in fact, only crazy extreme sports and thrill-seekers would dare to ride the highest and fastest water slide.

The Verrückt water slide is officially recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest in the world: its height is 51.38 m

The Verrückt Meg-a-Blaster is a design triumph of insane proportions from Jeff Henry, co-owner and “evil genius” of Schlitterbahn Waterparks. Henry decided he wanted to build a record-breaking slide, which resulted in the creation of "Verrückt".

Photo 4.

“Verrückt” takes four people down in parallel, and as Henry noted, “It’s a lot more fun when someone is screaming next to your ear.” It all starts with a scary fall from a 17-story height and continues with a small climb. And this is more than 180 meters of wet extreme sports. After an initial fall that's steeper than any ski slope, You come to a second rise five floors high, with new water supply technology.

Photo 5.

A large-scale tower around which you will climb dizzying heights, made from railroad tank cars, cut up and welded together. Builders reuse the material to build the "Verrückt". The attraction differs from Kilimanjaro in that it will be a raft ride and the body will not touch the surface. Although, of course, a raft is not a very comfortable transport when you are flying 50 sheer meters down.

Photo 6.

"Verrückt" is taller than Niagara Falls, the Statue of Liberty (from sandals to torch) and Tower of London. Not only will it be the world's tallest coaster, but it will also be the steepest and fastest. Henry says that “Verrückt will change the industry. The biggest challenge will be to find extreme sports enthusiasts who will dare to go down.” If you are brave enough, visit Kansas City and challenge yourself!

How about this roller coaster?

Do you consider yourself a real extreme sports enthusiast? In this case, you will be interested to know about the most exciting attractions that humanity has ever invented. In this material we will present the list to the world and find out why they acquired their status.

Formula Rossa

To explore the largest in the world, perhaps it’s worth starting with the largest attraction located in the United United Arab Emirates. It should be noted right away that the presented design is not the most massive in the entire globe. However, thrills for visitors to the attraction are guaranteed due to the crazy speed at which the trolleys move.

Having decided to ride a roller coaster, extreme sports enthusiasts get the opportunity to feel what it’s like to rush at a speed of 240 km/h on a cable car. At the same time, the peak height here reaches 52 meters.

Alton Towers

The monumental structure, which recently opened in the British Staffordshire, has as many as 14. This fact alone allowed the attraction to forever enter its name in the Guinness Book of Records.

The most extreme roller coasters are the property of researchers who long time studied the real nature of human fears. Based on the data obtained, engineers were able to develop a truly terrifying design.

In addition to the crazy speed, which reaches 85 km/h in some sections of the “track,” there are special effects in the form of holographic images that further increase the adrenaline level.

Superman: Krypton Coaster

When considering the largest roller coaster in the world, you can't ignore the ride located at Texas' Six Flags Fiesta. Superman: Krypton Coaster is famous primarily for the presence of a huge loop. Its height is extreme point reaches 44 meters. While chained to the trolley, visitors to the attraction perform a full 360° rotation along such a terrifying trajectory.

Kingda Ka

The attraction, located at Six Flags Great Adventure, can rightfully be called "the largest roller coaster in the world." Its visitors are able to fully experience what happens if they go into a free fall from the height of a 45-story building.

At the same time, the largest roller coaster in the world gives you the opportunity to ride along winding paths at great speed. Despite the fact that the trip in the trolley lasts no more than a minute, this is quite enough to raise the level of adrenaline in the blood for the rest of the day.

Silver Star

The largest roller coaster in the world cannot be imagined without an attraction called Silver Star. It is located in the German park "Europe". These roller coasters are not only a favorite pastime local residents, but also attract the attention of extreme sports enthusiasts from all over the world. The attraction, designed by Mercedes-Benz engineers, reaches a height of 73 meters. Within an hour, about 1,700 visitors pass through it, overcoming the winding slides at a speed of 130 km/h.

Steel Dragon 2000

The attraction, which is located in Japanese park"Nagashima" entertainment does not claim to be the "World's Largest Roller Coaster". However, the relatively low height, as well as the lack of lightning speed when trolleys move, are fully compensated by the total length of local tracks. It is the duration of the ride that attracts the attention of lovers of extreme pastime to such slides.

It is worth noting that Steel Dragon 2000 is the most massive attraction in history. An unimaginable amount of steel and concrete was spent on its construction. Japanese engineers were forced to implement such a decision by the increased seismic activity observed in the region. Considering the likelihood of an earthquake occurring while riding the attraction, it can easily be called one of the most frightening in the world.

Eejanaika

When it comes to the world's largest roller coaster, Eejanaika, located at Japan's Fuji Highland amusement park, should definitely be on the list. In addition to numerous take-offs to impressive heights, visitors here can expect crazy revolutions around their own axis and the passage of a whole series of dead loops. All this makes even the most notorious extreme sports enthusiast feel genuine fear.

Tower of Terror

The roller coaster with such a terrifying name is located in the city of Queensland (Australia). Visitors to the attraction who dare to board the local trolleys are soared to a height of about 120 meters.

After stopping at the peak of the largest climb, a free fall occurs, during which riders find themselves in a state of complete weightlessness. Only after several such hesitations are the fairly frightened visitors of the roller coaster allowed to leave the trolleys.

Finally

So we looked at where the largest roller coaster in the world is. Our review presents only a small portion largest attractions on the planet. But they are the ones that look the most terrifying for true extreme sports fans.
