Cyprus what to visit with a child. Entertainment in Cyprus for children and adults. Best prices for tours to Cyprus

We have visited many interesting places ah, but in reality this is just a small part of everything that Cyprus has to offer.

Marina Plotnikova, mom, blogger, traveler and event planner

I'll tell you about a few places that were most memorable and that you can visit with your children, because, of course, we took them everywhere with us. At that time, Yaroslav was almost five years old, and Ulyana was 2.5 years old.

Kourion - an ancient city in Cyprus

Not far from Limassol and one of the most significant attractions of the island is the ancient city of Kourion.

This city was built in the 12th century BC. on a high cliff for protection local residents from raids. For my centuries-old history it belonged to the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and was destroyed by an earthquake in the 4th century, although people lived here until the 7th century. In the mid-20th century, numerous excavations were carried out here, which made it possible to find and put on public display the remains of the city. Some attractions of Kourion, for example, the ancient theater, have been restored and are now used for their intended purpose.

Kourion is a real place of power! We were here 4 years ago, when Yaroslav was only a year old, but we were happy to come again and will probably return again and again. A very strong place with unique excavations and stunning views!

And there are two nearby unique beach: Governor's and White Rocks. When you go to Kourion, add them to your itinerary too. It's very beautiful there!

Road towards Limassol

From St. Rafael Marina towards Limassol stretches a stunning promenade with wooden bridges and a picturesque road that runs by the sea, then rises a little higher and again goes further from the coast, where it is decorated with tall palm trees, bright flowers and luxury hotels.

You can walk along this road for several hours in one direction and it doesn’t get boring at all, because the landscape and the road change all the time. If someone is tired, you can always turn onto the highway and take a bus to the desired location.

My most favorite place. We love to walk there with the whole family, go down to the sea, and have picnics.

At the beginning of the trail near the Elysium Hotel there are 2 playgrounds, where I left my husband and children and went for a 6-10 kilometer run along the health trail.

It was my most powerful reboot and an incredible feeling of happiness. Now, if I feel sad, I mentally return to the place where absolute harmony reigned!

Beach and Aphrodite's stone

Aphrodite Beach is considered one of the most beautiful and romantic natural attractions in all of Cyprus and many legends and beliefs are associated with it.

The most famous legend says that it was on this beach in 1200 BC. The beautiful Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, love, fertility, eternal spring and life, emerged from the sea foam and acquired a human body.

According to legends, one of the rocks on the beach, the Aphrodite stone, has magical powers, and if you find a heart-shaped pebble near it, you can meet true love and find youth.

This is very a nice place And beautiful beach for adults and children!

Avakas Gorge - incredible place in Cyprus near Paphos. And if you like movement, strong impressions and overcoming obstacles, you will probably like it there!

The length of the gorge is 3 km. A wide path leads to it with a very picturesque views. Nearby is the Akamas Nature Reserve, home to many wild mountain goats, which can often be spotted on the rocks.

Entering the gorge, you find yourself in a natural corridor, the role of walls in which is played by rocks. As you move deeper, you feel as if you are walking along a narrowing passage. In some places the rocks hang directly overhead. That's very beautiful. And many people consider this gorge a place of power.

We really want to come back here again, longer and more prepared, to go through the entire gorge and take a closer look at all the most amazing places.

It is better not to take very young travelers here, as the stones are quite slippery and there are places where you need to climb over large boulders, jump from stone to stone, and it even happens that when wild goats run from above, small stones fall down. Be carefull.

Aphrodite Trail

The Aphrodite Trail on the Akamas Peninsula is probably the most beautiful walk around the island. We walked for almost 5 hours with elevation changes of 340 m. Our hike began with Aphrodite’s bath, continued through the forest and ended with a dizzying descent along the serpentine road. I was really very scared to look down, although the road was not very narrow, but when I managed to look around, the view took my breath away!

Do you know how we got there? One cool and at that time still unknown guy wrote me a message on Facebook and suggested that we meet and go for a walk with the children.

And just a day later we all went hiking in the mountains together and the whole day was so incredible and so emotionally intense that I wanted to close my eyes and live every minute again! I love such open people!

Troodos Mountains

Cyprus is not only about the sea and magnificent beaches. mountain range Troodos is the oldest landmark of the island and the famous ancestor of Cyprus. On the slopes of these mountains there are picturesque villages, Byzantine monasteries, and ancient ruins.

The cool mountain forests growing on the slopes of the Troodos Mountains are an ideal refuge from the heat on a sultry summer day. More than a hundred species of plants grow in these Cypriot forests: pines and oaks, outlandish giant cacti and strawberry trees, cypresses and junipers, alders and cedars. By the way, Cypriot cedar recently celebrated its 800th anniversary.

Troodos Mountains - nature reserve. In summer, vacationers escape the heat here; here you can spend hours walking around the numerous walking routes of varying complexity. And in winter, the slopes of Mount Olympos are covered with snow and delight skiers.

And the children have something to have fun with.

Turtle Beach Lara Bay

Lara Bay Turtle Sanctuary is a famous national park Cyprus. It is famous for the fact that green and hawksbill turtles usually lay their eggs here. These are endangered species of Cypriot animals and are looked after by the reserve workers.

Coral Bay Beach

This beach is among best beaches Paphos and its surroundings, this is the most visited beach in West coast Cyprus and just perfect for family vacation with children of all ages.

The popularity of Coral Bay is due to the fact that the beach shore is covered with exceptionally fine and soft, light yellow sand, which is brought here from other beaches in Cyprus.

Of course, during the season everything here is filled with sun loungers. But we came there many times in February and March and were completely alone there, although for us the sea was already comfortable enough for swimming and the children splashed in the water for a long time.

Latchi is a small resort in the western part of Cyprus.

In the past it was just a small fishing village, but is now a very popular resort. Many come here for the color and special charm that is present in the village.

There is a beautiful promenade with small fishing boats, cozy taverns that offer fresh fish and seafood, and beautiful spacious beaches, where what struck me most was the pebbles. You just scoop up small pebbles with your palm and you can look at them endlessly. All different shapes, different colors, matte, shiny, translucent. We even organized beauty contests with the children, in which stones took part :)

Minthis Hills is a golf center with a wonderful restaurant

Not good tourist place, but if you're in Paphos, it's worth stopping by for the pedestrian mountain route and a gourmet lunch overlooking endless golf courses.

Cafes and restaurants in Cyprus

There are many wonderful restaurants in Cyprus with exquisite Mediterranean cuisine and magnificent sea views.

We lived in Paphos for almost all 3 months, so, of course, our favorite places are there:

  • Cafe Suite 48. A very cozy establishment on the embankment with a small children's playground and often live music in the evenings. The soup of the day is prepared here every day, mostly vegetarian. They also have very tasty veggie burgers served with salad and fries. The portions are very large. I ordered 1 serving of soup and 1 burger for two children, and the potatoes also went to dad, and the salad to mom :).
  • Indian restaurant Curry House. This is our most successful discovery! We found it absolutely by accident, when we wanted to go somewhere to celebrate the anniversary of our acquaintance, but our favorite places were already closed. Then we looked at TripAdviser, looked at the reviews and ratings of vegetarian dishes, and went to this restaurant. Everything was so delicious that we later took great pleasure in bringing friends there and tasting new dishes together. My favorite is the medium-spicy Veg Masala, which is steamed vegetables with masala spices served in a small pot on a warming rack. Very beautiful.
  • Cafe Oniro by The Sea with a beautiful view of the sunset and the ship running aground.

As 4you.rent correctly said: “If you combine the best bar, best view and experimental cuisine, you will find yourself in this place"

The best time to visit is from 17.00. Interestingly, tables cannot be booked in advance and you may have to wait in line.

What to do with children in Cyprus

After 3 weeks in Cyprus, when we began to understand that we would stay at least as long, we began to look for some activities for our eldest son, who was about to turn 5. We were not accepted into the English kindergarten at the British School because it was too short term.

We tried music, tennis, learned about aikido, but Yaroslav didn’t like it. We opted for an English center not far from home, where Yaroslav went for several classes, but he quickly became bored there and said that it would be better to study at home with his mother. And he can write handwriting himself :) There were also attempts to take up painting and modeling at an art center, where after a trial lesson I didn’t even ask the cost. It turned out that 1 lesson costs 20 euros. This is normal for Cyprus, but for Ukraine it is space. And I decided that I could do it myself)).

In the end, all educational process remained on me, but we studied mathematics together, shared the joy of our first victories in reading, made crafts, drew, played, and even took part in races in Limassol twice. And from now on we decided that we would bring medals, not postcards. What do you usually bring?
