TOURISTS' ANSWERS:

If Lloret de Mar is the noisiest and party town of the Costa Brava, and Tossa de Mar is the quietest and most beautiful town on the coast, then Blanes is the most ancient city Costa Brava with all the ensuing consequences... It is located 60 kilometers from Barcelona, and you can get there by silent train. Of course, Barcelona is generally one of the most beautiful cities world, but first you need to look around Blanes itself, and there is a lot to see there.

Of course, it is the San Juan Castle that dominates the city's landscape. Although the settlement of Blanes itself was founded by the Romans in the 2nd century BC, the main part of the buildings has been preserved from the 12th-13th centuries, so this wonderful castle began to be built in the 11th century, and was built in the 13th century, and its watchtower , as if stepped out of the credits of the movie "War of Thrones" - in the 16th... It is best to look at this castle, to appreciate its grandeur and grace of form, from an island located right off the coast of Blanes. This, by the way, is also the trademark of this remarkable place - small island, as if specially created by nature for restless tourists who don’t feed them bread, but let them admire the panorama of the mountains and the castle San Juan on top of the cliff that divides Blanes into 2 parts: northern and southern. Just in the southern part is the entire tourist infrastructure of the city; this is the most beautiful part of Blanes - with lush gardens, a wonderful pine promenade, and amazing beaches. In the northern part there is a port, which is also a must-see, but all the interesting and interesting life of Blanes is in its southern part...

It's simple here beautiful beaches. Talk about their environmental friendliness and constant blue flags environmentalists make no sense, since on the Costa Brava this is a very common occurrence, but not to say that the three-kilometer main beach of Blanes S’Abannel is beautiful place for a holiday with fantastic views of the rocks, a gentle sea and pleasant sand that slightly massages your feet... And those who like a more secluded holiday can always take advantage of the beaches of Treumal and Santa Anna, just like those vacationing with children - the magnificent San Francesc beach, not only surrounded by Mediterranean pine trees and equipped with children's playgrounds, but also having a great rarity for the Costa Brava and Costa Maresme - a gentle descent into the water, which the youngest tourists love so much... Therefore, of course, on a par with the San Juan Castle, the main attraction Blanes - its beautiful beaches, which have stood the test of time and many generations of tourists, because Blanes is one of the very first resorts on the Costa Brava.

I would like to encourage inquisitive tourists reading this material to search for medieval pearls scattered throughout old Blanes - the castle of the Viscounts of Cabrera (12th century), and the Gothic fountain (15th century), and the Gothic monastery, and the Gate of the Virgin Mary... Believe me, It is in Blanes that there is something to see in the city itself, whose old streets are so pleasant to walk after a beach day...

There is a tourist mini-train running around Blanes, which for 14 euros will save you from having to walk a lot and will show you the whole town in 1 hour. If you don't want to look for medieval sights yourself, a ride on this technological marvel will solve this problem, as well as take you to Botanical Garden Marimutra with its splendor is primarily coniferous. Either way, visit this wonderful garden!

As for entertainment and nearby attractions, it’s worth mentioning the boats that, for reasonable money (depending on the distance, 10-25 euros) will take you to both Lloret and Tossa, giving you the opportunity to admire the “Wild Coast” (as Costa Brava is translated) to your heart’s content. with its bizarre rugged rocks, the magnificence of which will take your breath away... One cannot fail to mention Marineland - a large and interesting water park located not far from Blanes in the almost neighboring Santa Susanna, from which the children will be delighted... Well, and so... in front of you, except for the ancient Blanes - this wonderful Mediterranean town - the whole of Catalonia is open. Barcelona and Gerona, Figueres and Lloret are all within easy reach from this wonderful location...

Marimutra Botanical Garden

Once in Blanes, Spain, all tourists flock to the Mar i Murtra Botanical Garden to get their share of aesthetic pleasure. And not by chance. This beautiful, stunning place for walking is located in the northern part of the resort. The garden contains a huge collection of all kinds of plants. Among them are cacti, conifers, cypresses, exotic specimens, plants from different climatic zones. The area is neat, you can see that the workers take care of it with love. Gazebos, walking peacocks, ponds with blooming lilies and lotuses - this is just a small part of what you can see there. On a hot day, the Marimutra Botanical Garden will become a saving refuge from the heat, where you can comfortably sit in the shade and admire the extraordinary views of the sea and rocks. A visit to Marimutra will also be interesting for nature photographers. Unique types of flowers captured in macro mode will become priceless photographs.

You can get to the Botanical Garden on foot or by bus, which leaves from the center of Blanes. The park is closed on Mondays. Bus travel and entrance tickets are paid (5 and 6 euros). I do not recommend walking on foot for elderly people or vacationers with small children: you will have to walk uphill for about 25 minutes, not everyone finds it easy. The advantage of a walk will be the opportunity to see beautiful panoramic views of the city of Blanes, which open as the slope rises. To avoid getting lost and easily navigate the labyrinths of the Botanical Garden, don’t forget to take a park map when entering.

Castle of San Juan

The unchanging symbol of Blanes remains old castle San Juan. It began its history back in the 13th century, when it was erected on the site of an ancient Roman fortress. For a long time, the San Juan Castle was the personification of the reliability and protection of the city from attacks by ill-wishers. Over many centuries, the castle was destroyed and restored several times, but this did not prevent it from receiving the status of a national monument and becoming a must-see destination. excursion route tourists. San Juan is located on a mountain at an altitude of more than 170 meters, offering unforgettable views of the surrounding area (the coast is especially beautiful in the light of night lights in the evening). Today, a city historical museum has been created on the territory.

Chapel of St. Barbara

St. Barbara was the patroness of the city of Blanes. The chapel in her honor is located next to the Castle of San Juan, and is rightfully considered one of the main attractions resort town. At first it was a watchtower of the castle, but over time it was rebuilt into a chapel, the bell of which announced local population about possible danger. The road from the center of Blanes to the castle and chapel takes no more than 20 minutes and delights the eye with picturesque sea views.

For those who do not have an exact idea of where the town of Blanes is located, I want to clarify for the sake of clarity that it is located north of Barcelona, that is, practically in the northern part of Spain, on the Mediterranean coast, approximately at the latitude of central Italy. Therefore, the climate, or rather the temperature indicators here are approximately the same as, for example, in Montenegro, or, as I already emphasized, in the resorts of central Italy, this is for those who have already been to these places before.

Although there are practically no sub-zero temperatures here in winter, for this time of year, and in Spain itself, there are more interesting places for relax. Therefore, you are unlikely to meet tourists here who come specifically to relax during the winter months. But here, thank God, we won’t be talking about winter, but specifically about summer vacation, or rather about the period when it is better to enjoy a full beach holiday. Read completely

Blanes - our Spanish love...

This year my family and I spent only 4 days in Blanes, a quiet and oldest town Costa Brava- but fell in love with it for life...Imagine a place just perfect for family vacation with a beautiful pine promenade, a magnificent three kilometer long organized beach, a wonderful rocky landscape so characteristic of the “Wild Coast” and the majestic Castle of San Juan, located on a cliff and dominating the city - then you will get your first idea of Blanes. The children were delighted with the San Francesk beach - this is not the main beach of Blanes, it is a little to the side, you need to walk to it, but what a a nice place, everything is in pine trees, and what a wonderful gentle slope into the water, which is generally a rarity, both in the Costa Brava and in the Costa Maresme. We lived in the four-star Beverly Park Hotel, it is a little away from Blanes, but how nice it is to walk in the evening from our quiet place, breathing the pine-sea air, to the slightly more “loud” Blanes itself (which cannot be compared with Lloret de - Mar in decibel level). And what wonderful botanical gardens in Blanes - Marimurtra and Pinha de Rosa - it’s something unimaginable, the most fantastic and most beautiful plants in the world seem to have gathered here. Blanes is excellently located, you can reach Barcelona in an hour, and take a boat to the famous Tossa - de Mar and crazy Lloret de Mar. In general, Blanes is now our Spanish love...

Cost of a holiday in Blanes. October 2016.

tour cost

Since we flew during the off-season, the trip cost only 1,200 euros for two people. We flew from Moscow to Barcelona airport. The tour operator arranged a transfer to the hotel in Blanes. We took a trip for 10 days, since there is nothing else to do in Spain in October.

I would not say that excursions in Blanes are very expensive. We went with sightseeing tour to Barcelona for only 15 euros per person, we also took one day excursion to Andorra, it cost us 90 euros per person. Of course, we went to Montserrat. They paid 20 euros for it. We booked all excursions from street agencies, since they cost 20-30 euros more from a tour operator. Everything went just fine, he was with us Russian speaking guide, comfortable buses and free lunch in Andorra.

Food and products

Food in Blanes turned out to be surprisingly cheap. We had a quiet breakfast for 7-10 euros for two. It’s just that most often we ordered one portion for two, since the plates they brought were simply huge. Let's say a large plate of mussels in sauce cost only 5 euros, we took some sandwich for 1.5 euros. The most expensive were shrimp - we paid from 10 to 15 euros for them. We often bought paella; a large frying pan cost 10 euros.

One of the most ancient cities Spanish resort area Costa Brava is located 60 km from the beautiful Barcelona.

Blanes, surrounded by greenery, with a magnificent promenade and sandy beach length 4 km - favorite place holiday for tourists and lovers.

The city is conventionally divided into southern and northern parts, in the first all tourist sites, shops and entertainment infrastructure are concentrated, in the second - residential areas and the port.

From Girona it is easy to reach your destination via regular bus. In addition, if you want to avoid any surprises associated with unfamiliarity with the language and other realities characteristic of travel, an excellent solution would be to use the transfer services of the hotel in which the room is booked.

Cuisine features and restaurants

It's hard to keep the intrigue gastronomic features, talking about a seaside town. Of course, the main component of Blanes cuisine is seafood. You will be offered to taste many amazingly refined and home-made dishes in Blanes restaurants.

Spanish, Italian, Argentine cuisine - the rich taste of Mediterranean dishes attracts not only tourists. Local residents enjoy visiting restaurants and cafes on the coast.

A new gastronomic experience can be acquired by visiting “Sa Lola”; we recommend tasting grilled dishes at the “Texas Ranch” steakhouse, and you can treat yourself to Catalan cuisine and taste meat baked in a special way at “El Celler de la Puntaire” ", located opposite the rock of Sa Palomera.

Sights of Blanes

Medieval architecture, ancient castle San Juan, Gothic monasteries, magnificent fountains - all this is very typical of the Spanish coast, which means it is very interesting for tourists from any other part of the world.

The local botanical garden Marimutra should be added to the list of must-see places in Blanes.- the place is very famous among tourists and local residents. Plants from Africa South America and, of course, from all corners of Spain there was a place in the three main zones of this amazing garden: Mediterranean, subtropical and tropical.

For children, there is an exciting obstacle course and a swimming pool, while their parents can frolic in the bowling alley, have a picnic in a special area, or just sit in a cozy restaurant.

Entertainment in the Marineland water park will appeal to both adults and children. Dolphins, serpentines, slides - you can spend the whole day in this wonderful place!

And if your vacation coincides with the July holiday of the city's patron saint, St. Anne, you will witness an amazing event - the International Fireworks Festival.
