  1. Grand Hotel L'Approdo – our choice

Sabaudia

Sabaudia is another proud owner of the Blue Flag, golden sands and clear seas. Despite the obvious advantages, it remains one of the least visited beaches in Rome, but only because of the inconvenient road. From Termini station, the train to Priverno-Fossanova takes 50-55 minutes, the trip costs 5 euros, but then you have to travel another 20 minutes on the Cotral bus, after which you go down the wooden stairs. All year round, travel lovers, seekers of adventure and unusual sensations fly from all corners of the Earth to famous city Apennine Peninsula - to Rome. There was not a single guest of the Italian capital who was dissatisfied with his trip. The city is popular both as a historical monument and for its fashionable shops, clubs and other modern recreational facilities. Rome continues to remain great, only if previously it was so thanks to military successes, now it only wins the hearts of all the romantics of the Earth.

In addition to the famous assets of the city, there are other places near Rome where it is recommended to go - these are beaches and ski resorts. There are a lot of them in Italy - the country’s government pays special attention to the development of tourism, thanks to which all official vacation spots are equipped with modern equipment for cleaning and serving tourists. But the main thing is not this, but Italy, as you will see it outside of Rome, at the level of the blue sea and at the height of the top of the snow-white mountain.

Ski resorts near Rome

Unfortunately, this segment of tourism is not very developed in Rome itself, so you won’t find mountains for skiing very close. However, there are still ski resorts in Italy near Rome, albeit at a distance of 100 km. Three years ago, the government of Rome wanted to begin construction of a complex for skiers near Ostia, but local residents did not accept such an innovation due to the crisis. Apparently three main ski resorts far from Rome it was enough for them:

  • Campo Felice.
  • Terminillo.
  • Campo Imperatore.

"Happy Field" or Campo Felice
A little-known place among tourists. This is the beauty of it. There are the same mountains and slopes here, but there are much fewer people, making skiing comfortable and safe. This resort is located in the Abruzzio region, and you can get to it either by car or by bus. The path will not be confusing - you will need to drive along the straight A24 highway for an hour and a half. Few people know about buses: per day, only one train travels from Rome in the direction of the “lucky field”. You will find this bus near the San Giovanni metro station at 7.15 am.

You have to drive to Campo Felice 120 km, but upon arrival you will find smooth ski slopes and friendly locals - there are practically no tourists in this place. Consider this an advantage, because the prices in this place will be much lower than in Rome and the food in local restaurant It will be tastier than the concoction of the capital's eateries. Just be careful not to stay too long - the lifts turn off at 4 pm.

Terminillo

Another more popular resort among guests in Italy is Terminillo. You can get here either by highway or by train on rails. The journey will take approximately 1 hour.

If you choose the train as your transport, you will need to go from Riete station. Near this station is Terminillo, the most high mountain which was called the "Roman Mountain". Its height is 2.2 km, and the ski lifts serve maximum height 1.7 km, so another 500 m, if desired, can be covered on foot, we will conquer the top of the mountain. 26 km of Terminillo slopes will accommodate both beginners and pros - everyone will find a slope of suitable difficulty.

Campo Imperatore
Not such a popular ski resort due to the small number of slopes - there are less than 10 of them. But it’s not difficult to get to this place - you need to take the train to L`Aquila station.

In the city you will find many hotels, and the Apennine Mountains will not make you bored. However, there are more interesting places in Italy for lovers of snow-capped mountains. If you came to this country just for this, then we recommend staying not in Rome, but in Milan. From there it is much easier to get to the ski resorts and there is more choice.

Beach resorts near Rome

With this, everything is much simpler - Rome is located near the Tyrrhenian Sea, the coast of which is strewn with resort towns, bright stripes of beaches and a lot of tourists. We recommend that you go to the sea from Rome, regardless of the time of year - both in November and July it is equally beautiful, but you won’t always be able to buy it.

Lido di Osti
The most popular beach in Rome is in Ostia. It's just 28 km ways by car, or a short trip on the Roman metro from Piramides station to Lido di Ostia. If your main goal is the sea, then do not confuse Ostia Beach with Ostia Antico. Previously, this place was the greatest port of Rome, but over the years the sea moved away from the peninsula and historical city went deeper into the land. If you still find time, do not regret one day and go see the ruins of the once majestic city of Ostia.

As for the quality of beach holidays in Ostia, it is difficult to give this place a rating of less than 5. The beaches here are paid, so they keep everything on the level. Oddly enough, there are not many people here, despite the city’s proximity to the capital. After you finish water treatments on the sandy beaches of Ostia, take a stroll through the village itself. Art exhibitions are often held here and there are several art galleries.

Nettuno
Almost any Big city Italy was born during the formation of Rome, as we know it from history books. Some resorts Ancient Rome still retained their functions, only changing in appearance. From Termini Station, take the FL1 line and reach Nettuno, the former sea fortress, now a favorite among tourists. Almost nothing remains of the fortress, but the city itself is now on the list of " best resorts Rome". There is enough space on the beaches and entertainment for everyone. If you come here, be sure to try your hand at yachting. Nettuno is one of the largest yacht ports.

Even though Nettuno was named after God water element Neptune, but there are other attractions in the city. When the beach is crowded and very hot, go to Botanical Garden cities where there is a lot of shade and always fresh air. Or visit Sangallo fortress- remnants of the former greatness of the fortress city.

Anzio
A beach in the area of Rome often associated with Nettuno is Anzio. It is located a few kilometers from the former fortress in the Lazio region, near Rome. According to legend local legends, the founder of the city was the son of Odysseus. In addition, Nero and Caligula were born here.

The 12-kilometer beaches are always happy to welcome guests. There are hotels by the sea, but getting to the place from Rome is not difficult: the path will be the same as to the city of Neptune. You can diversify your seaside holiday with a trip to the Pontine Islands. This is a frequent service for tourists in the city of Anzio, so finding the right service will not be difficult. In addition to the trembling views of the sea, the city also has sad places - museums of the Second World War, dedicated to the American operations to liberate Italy.

Sabaudia

To visit both the sea in Rome and enjoy the beauty of the lake coast, go to Sabaudia, another resort town in the vicinity of the capital. This place is located 100 kilometers away from the main city of Italy, and the easiest way to get there is by train. You will need to get to Priverno Fossanova station and take a bus from there.

In Sabaudia itself, the main attraction is the beaches. This village was built in less than a year, at a time when Mussolini implemented his project to build first-class seaside resorts. After a swim in the sea that surrounds Rome, cross the “white sea” of sands, as the locals call them, and swim in fresh water Lake Paolo. After that, take a walk around the city - although it was built in haste, there is a lot to see in Sabaudia:

  • Commune Square;
  • interesting post office building and other planned buildings of Mussolini.

Gaeta
What could be better than the mysterious Rome, plus a seaside holiday in the Imperial resort town. Nice beaches, Rome is a few train stations and a 15 minute bus walk away, the rest imperial choir- you will find all this in Gaeta. Best beaches near Rome are still located here, in the former resting place of the great rulers of the empire.

To get to Gaeta, take the train from Termini to Formia station, and from there take the bus to the resort. In the city itself, the greatest interest is not only the ideal sand beach, but also architectural monuments:

  • lock
  • and the Grotto of Tukov.

In addition, be sure to visit Orlando park- This is the main attraction of Gaeta.

Terracina

Beaches near Rome are scattered throughout the Riviera resorts. One of these resorts is Terracina. This place is famous not only for the cleanliness of its beaches, but also for its air - it is the second city in Italy in terms of iodine content. Just being here is tantamount to taking care of your health. And considering that Terracina is a popular tourist place With developed infrastructure: hotels, restaurants, clubs, etc., then we can say with confidence: no matter the sea in Rome, cold or warm, you will have a good time here. Getting to the popular beach resort is easy: take the train to the station. Monte S. Biagio.

Fiumicino
Upon arrival in Rome, you can go to the beach in the same place. This is not only airy, but also real sea port for tourists - there are always a lot of people here and sometimes you can see not very beautiful landscapes of garbage on the sand by the sea. Despite this, you will save time, because the beaches of Fiumicino are the closest sea near Rome.

Get used to the idea that planes will periodically fly overhead, but there may not be any seats. We do not recommend that you come here if your trip to Italy is mainly related to the sea. It’s better to go a hundred kilometers from Rome to the sea - the beaches there are cleaner and there are fewer people. But if you don’t have enough time, then Fiumicino will do.
