Virtual tour Virtual travel around the world

We don’t always have the opportunity to visit other countries and admire their sights. But thanks to special Internet services, you can visit famous museums and art monuments without leaving your home. The CHIP guide will help you with this.

Every year more and more different virtual services like Google Maps, which allow you not only to make virtual trips around the world, but also to visit many museums, art galleries, cathedrals and temples. Thanks to this, it will now be easy to visit, for example, the Berlin Art Gallery, Versailles or national gallery London. Moreover, you can make such virtual “forays” both from a computer and from a smartphone. In addition, such excursions do not require huge financial expenses, which are inevitable during real trips around the world. You won’t have to jostle among crowds of tourists, trying to take a closer look at your favorite works of world art.

Moreover, a virtual walk allows you to see exhibits stored in storerooms and rooms that are inaccessible to visitors in a real museum. And panoramas made in high resolution, make it possible to see all the subtleties of the world's masterpieces.

Virtual walk: Russian services

Virtual excursions and 3D trips to Russian museums, churches and estates The most remarkable service for virtual trips and excursions can be called a project posted on the portal www.panotours.ru. Today, the local catalog contains many tours of museums, monasteries and estates. Among them are the house-museum of A. N. Ostrovsky, the Meyerhold museum-apartment and the temple Life-Giving Trinity in Sheets. The tours are conveniently divided into thematic subsections, so you can easily find the most interesting ones for you. The virtual walk is accompanied by comments on the exhibits, which can be activated with a mouse click.

The Russian Railways company offers everyone a chance to visit the steam locomotive museum. By the way, the steam locomotive museum has also acquired its own virtual representation with an interactive tour. It is located on the Russian Railways website at http://rzd.ru/steams. The excursion itself is quite short, but still very informative and may be of interest to audiences interested in the history of trains.

On the website dedicated to the Kremlin, you can see even territories and premises closed to tourists. The Moscow Kremlin also keeps up with modern trends. Now on the Internet at http://tours.kremlin.ru you can take an online walk through the capital’s red-stone fortress, looking into the Faceted Chamber and the Alexander Hall, stroll along the courtyard, and also “visit” places where excursions never take you. In addition, the panorama is pleased with its high resolution, so that when approaching, objects do not begin to blur.

Virtual walk: foreign services

Armchair-travel will allow you to visit Westminster Abbey without going to London. An English-language resource called Armchair-travel (www.armchairtravel.com) offers interactive “trips” to such architectural monuments as the Taj Mahal in India, the Royal botanical gardens Kew in the UK or St Paul's Cathedral in London. To do this, just click on the link marked “Explore” or “View”, after which a window with a map will open in front of you. By clicking on the dots that indicate viewing positions, you can take a kind of virtual tour, admiring the all-round panorama. Perhaps the most tempting offer is the opportunity to visit inside Westminster Abbey in London, where the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton took place.

In addition to museums and cathedrals, the resource also allows you to visit the offices of companies and publishing houses. The list of objects is given in the menu on the left, and it is not so difficult to understand it, even if you do not speak English at all.

Virtual Travel - a portal for virtual travel to museums in the Czech Republic The Armchair-travel service is focused mainly on British museums. But the Virtual Travel portal (www.virtualtravel.cz) will give you the opportunity to visit museums and galleries Czech Republic. The navigation interface of this resource is intuitive, so there will be no difficulties in finding this or that object.
Just select the desired category - and you can go on virtual trips around the world (cathedrals, castles and art galleries of Prague, Brno and other Czech cities). When you click on the desired category, a list of available places will appear in front of you, and after you select one of them, an overview panorama will open.

Panorama of London royal hall Albert Arts and Sciences SPHERICALimages (www.sphericalimages.com) will make your old dream allowing you to visit the museum wax figures Madame Tussauds in London, as well as various music halls and cathedrals, presenting high-resolution and excellent quality panoramas. In addition, the presence of a fairly large number of viewing points allows you to view the exhibition from different angles.

Google Art Project

Google Art Project uses technology similar to Street View, and suggests visiting 17 famous museums world, and the high resolution of the canvases allows you to see any details. This year Google launched new project virtual journeys through museums, which is based on technology similar to Street View. The new development is called Google Art Project (www.googleartproject.com). It combines virtual tours of 17 of the world's most famous museums, including the Tretyakov Gallery, allowing users to admire a huge number of museum exhibits(more than 1000 images).

While traveling through virtual halls, as in real life, there is a desire to take a closer look at the picture you like. And here the dynamic scaling system comes to the rescue, displaying pictures in great detail. Art lovers will appreciate this kind of work, since the high resolution of the canvases allows you to study absolutely any details of the paintings that may not even be noticeable when looking at the real canvas.

In addition, the Google Art Project gives the user the opportunity to create their own art collection during virtual travel, and the comment system allows you to leave reviews of your favorite paintings, which can be made available to other visitors. Google itself is positioning its new service as an ideal tool for students and art scholars.

To start your virtual journey, you just need to go to the project website, select the museum you want to walk through from the list, and click on the “Explore” menu item. After this, a panoramic model of the museum hall will load, and you will be able to move from room to room, just as you did earlier on Google Maps. And you can see a detailed image of the painting you like by clicking on the “plus” icon, which pops up when you hover the cursor over the canvas.

Where can you find even more museums?

Everyscape is a portal where you can find many little-known museums. The Everyscape portal (www.everyscape.com) contains a fairly large database of cities and countries that offer virtual tours of museums, many of which are little-known and can pleasantly surprise with their exhibitions. For example, using this service, you can visit the small Museum of Art in Aspen (USA, Colorado) or walk through various art salons, as well as visit creatively designed eateries and restaurants. The site interface is completely English.

A three-dimensional tour of the Louvre is more like a computer game. A tour of the Louvre (www.louvre.fr) is more like a 3D computer game: a first-person view, the ability to approach the paintings and receive information about the objects found. Unfortunately, not everything can be viewed in 3D: at the moment, only a few halls and the chapel are available in 3D excursion mode. To view the gallery you will need to install 3DVIA Player. The site supports both French and English languages.

Do you love to travel? Yes, nowadays such pleasure is not cheap. Not everyone has the opportunity to travel to Ukraine, not to mention the cities of the World. And I really want to walk along the streets of Madrid or Paris.

My mother and I often sit down at the computer in the evenings and go for a walk around the city of our youth, Lvov. It will be pleasant to plunge into the atmosphere of your childhood, where everything is so close and dear.

While we lived there, we didn’t notice much. And when was it noticed? But now you can calmly “walk” along any street and look at every house and every tree...

And you have this opportunity. All you need for such trips is a computer and Internet access. So, let's take a walk through the streets of the Polish Republic of Warsaw as an example.

Such walks can be made both in the Yandex and Google search engines. Abroad, Google has more opportunities and more busy online cities. So we’ll go to the Google search engine (google.ru) and type two words into the search engine Google Maps.

A map with street names will open. We choose any point we like on this map. A small photograph of the street appears below.

Click on this photo and move to this point.

Point the mouse at the road along which we will move and click the mouse. Some people find it more convenient to use the arrow buttons (forward, back, right, left) on the keyboard.

At the very bottom there are small photographs. You can click on any of them and you will immediately move to the point shown in the photo.

Thus, you can navigate through any cities that are loaded into such maps and view all the sights of the World.

“Walk” and admire the architecture of the great and beautiful world capitals and simple cozy towns of our homeland.

Undoubtedly, virtual travel cannot and should not replace real travel with all its gamut of vivid sensations and impressions. But they help us see any corner of the earth for free, even if you yourself will never be able to visit there. In addition, this is a very convenient way to get mass in advance useful information and plan your future trips.

You can fly in the stratosphere over the entire planet or over the roofs of Paris and St. Petersburg, look into the halls of the British Museum or the Kremlin treasury, find yourself among the mountains and waterfalls of Iceland or in the amazing underwater world of the Galapagos Islands... Stop dreaming, there are no more barriers in front of you!

1. Panoramas 360cities.net

Just as poets describe the world with poems, artists with paintings, composers with music, so the website 360cities.net describes the world with picturesque panoramas.

Tens of thousands of photographs from all corners of the earth are collected here, and not only ours - there are even panoramas of other planets from one interesting rover. Here you will enjoy virtually traveling around the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, or exploring the panorama of London, which was filmed in such high resolution that you can see the faces of people in the windows of houses.

2. Google Photo Tours

Of course, the ability to view streets on GoogleStreetView maps will not surprise anyone for a long time. But not everyone may know that the participants in this project are also interested in creating photo tours and entire virtual trips.

These photo tours give you the opportunity to walk around Taj Mahal, look at Dubai from the world's tallest 800-meter skyscraper Burj Khalifa, for the whole of Paris with one of three observation platforms Eiffel Tower or be transported to Mexico to the pyramids Chichen Itza. There are also unusual travels, for example, descending into a salt mine similar to an underground palace in Wieliczka (Poland)) or immersion in the present undersea world in tens different places, for example, at Galapagos Islands.

To travel around Russia, take a look at RusMap.net (Google services are used) - this is a clear and accessible service for those who often go on business trips, love to travel, or are just about to hit the road. Regardless of your goal, Rusmap will make the trip as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

The “panorama” option allows you to take a virtual walk through the cities of Russia. Perhaps such an online journey will be the impetus for taking a real one.

3. Google app street view

When I travel, I often use the Street View app. It is available for Android and iPhone. The application allows you to view many panoramas located on the world map.

There are panoramas of users and panoramas of Google itself. The service is developing rapidly and the number of panoramas is increasing before our eyes.

I myself observed the fascinating process of creating a panorama using special equipment. But each of you will be able to add your own panoramas using your smartphone and obeying the commands of the application.

4. Yandex panoramas

The Yandex company is also actively developing its mapping service, and on its maps you can take a bird's eye view of the cities of Russia and the world. For example, fly over Palace Square in St. Petersburg or above the Assumption Cathedral in Vladimir.

Yandex maps are perhaps more visual than Google; there is a mode for viewing a panorama and a map at the same time.

5. Air Pano

The amazing project of another Russian team, Air Pano, is a rare case of professional enthusiasts creating products at a level that was previously only achievable by wealthy Internet corporations. Spherical aerial panoramas, or rather entire air excursions Air Pano, will easily give both Google and Yandex a run for their money in terms of the beauty and quality of the footage.

Filming is carried out from literally everything that can fly: from airplanes and balloons to airships and radio-controlled drones. Now the site has about 2000 panoramas from the most picturesque corners of the world. Here you can visit the island of Java on the Bromo volcano or see the Kremlin from the air from different angles, admire northern lights in Iceland or admire one of the islands of Hawaii, visit Petra in Jordan and even look inside the famous Treasury.

In addition, when viewing a panorama, you can switch to another camera by simply clicking on the helicopter symbol.

The panoramas are not only colorful, but also educational. Many bear the names of visible objects.

6. Youtube 360 video files

360-degree video provides even greater immersion and full presence. You can easily look to the right or left, for example, when passing the palaces on a boat in Venice.

You can search for 360 degree videos on Youtube, but you can also search on Air Pano.

You will be surprised what miracles a good photographer can create using the time lapse technique (slow motion). This is a great way to show even familiar places in a completely new light and inspire travel.

Excellent collections of such videos are collected on vimeo.com. Hundreds of videos give you the opportunity to visit the most beautiful places planets. You will be able to admire the golden pagodas of mysterious Myanmar, the northern beauty of Norwegian sunsets, romantic views famous bridge"Golden Gate" in San Francisco or other stunning shots from around the world.

Another global Google project is dedicated to art. It’s called: Art Project. Behind the modest name lies an incredible exhibition - tens of thousands of paintings from best museums peace. Moreover, each one is filmed in such high resolution that you can, for example, examine in detail every stroke of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” or look into the eyes of the International Space Station. You will have the feeling that the camera is somewhere very close, and not 400 km from the surface of the planet.

The image changes slowly but surely throughout the day and you can see for yourself that our blue planet is in perfect order. However, it should be noted that the video is only available when there is a signal with the Earth, otherwise you will only see a splash screen. Sometimes on video you can see the life of astronauts and their spacewalks.

10. Webcams around the world

If you look out of the ISS window - it’s high and scary, you can look at something more “down to earth”. For example, visit the Maldives or London's legendary Abbey Road, or hang out for a couple of hours watching pandas at Zoo Atlanta. The website earthcam.com has a huge collection of webcams around the world - from New York to Bangkok. A great opportunity to track the changing time zones on the planet.

On the website http://a-russia.ru/ you can see many web cameras from different interesting corners of Crimea and other places in Russia.

1. Panoramas 360cities.net

Just as poets describe the world with poems, artists with paintings, composers with music, so the website 360cities.net describes the world with picturesque panoramas.

2. Google Photo Tours

Of course, the ability to view streets on GoogleStreetView maps will not surprise anyone for a long time. But not everyone may know that the participants in this project are also interested in creating photo tours and entire virtual trips.

There are also unusual journeys, for example, a descent into a salt mine similar to an underground palace in Wieliczka (Poland)) or diving into the real underwater world in dozens of different places, for example, Galapagos Islands.

The “panorama” option allows you to take a virtual walk through the cities of Russia. Perhaps such an online journey will be the impetus for taking a real one.

The amazing project of another Russian team, Air Pano, is a rare case of professional enthusiasts creating products at a level that was previously only achievable by wealthy Internet corporations. You will be surprised what miracles a good photographer can create using the time lapse technique (slow motion). This is a great way to show even familiar places in a completely new light and inspire travel.

Excellent collections of such videos are collected on vimeo.com. Hundreds of videos give you the opportunity to visit the most beautiful places on the planet. You can admire the golden pagodas of mysterious Myanmar, the northern beauty of Norwegian sunsets, romantic views of the famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco or other stunning shots from around the world.

Another global Google project is dedicated to art. It’s called: Art Project. Behind the modest name lies an incredible exhibition - tens of thousands of paintings from the best museums in the world. Moreover, each one was filmed in such high resolution that you can, for example, examine in detail every stroke of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” or look into the eyes of noblewoman Morozova Surikov.

Many museums kindly allowed us to film not only their exhibitions, but also their premises. And now you can, without getting up from your chair, stroll through the halls of the Hermitage or the Doge's Palace in Venice, or visit the Museum of the Acropolis of Athens.

If you are a creative person, then similar virtual excursions will save your time and money, and you will receive no less aesthetic pleasure from works of art.

9. Webcam on the ISS

Are you fascinated by the unknown expanses of the Universe? Then watch live broadcasts from a webcam on the International Space Station.
