Tell us about your hometown. How to write an essay on the topic “My City”: tips and recommendations. An example of how to talk about a city in English

A small homeland is the place where a person was born, grew up, studied, and where his relatives live. This is a place for which love settles in a person’s heart forever. But awareness of one’s Motherland and feelings of love for it do not arise immediately. And this process happens differently for everyone. For a child in childhood, the most important thing is the mother and father. Growing up, he begins to feel attached to friends, to his native street, to the river, to forests, fields, to his village or city. And it doesn’t matter what your homeland is: a large industrial city or a small village and what this city or village looks like. The main thing is that it’s all familiar to you from childhood.

You don’t choose your homeland, just like your father and mother. You accept her, love her for who she is. And only as he grows up does a person gradually realize that he belongs to his mother-homeland, his responsibility for her, and most importantly, his incommensurable love for her. This is how a citizen is born, this is how a patriot is formed.

For every person in his small homeland there is something he would like to talk about. So I want to describe my Motherland with its unique history and nature, with its memorable places.

My small homeland is the city of Taganrog. This is a city whose birth is connected with Russia’s struggle for security southern borders, for access to the Azov and Black Seas. For defense southern region a naval fleet was needed, and a harbor was needed for the fleet. As Peter I said: “A harbor is the beginning and end of a fleet; without it, whether there is a fleet or not is all the same.” The king personally chose the location of the future city. Peter I stayed at Cape Tagan for two days and, after a thorough inspection, decided to lay it here new town, build a fortress and a harbor. Taganrog was founded in 1698 and became the first naval base Russia, the first Russian port on the open sea coast and the first city in Russia built according to a regular plan. Grateful residents have not forgotten their founder. In 1903, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Peter I, a monument to the emperor was erected in Taganrog (sculptor M.M. Antokolsky). On the most beautiful boulevard stands a three-meter tall figure of Peter I, facing the sea. The wind blows on his face, this can be seen in his hair and coat. The emperor is full of strength, great thoughts and pride in the fruits of his labors. Peter I's gaze was turned to the harbour, the construction of which he devoted a lot of effort and attention to. The Emperor is depicted in the uniform of an officer of the Preobrazhensky Regiment, stepping forward, leaning his right hand on a cane. A telescope is clutched in his left hand. The monument looks picturesque, majestic and solemn.

The city continued to live and develop. Now he's become noisy commercial port. Taganrog was the first to establish economic ties between Russia and foreign countries through the southern seas.

In the 19th century, the city was a center of trade; from that time, interesting mansions of Italian and Greek merchants have been preserved. The majestic building of the Alferaki Palace always attracts the attention of guests of Taganrog with its unusual architectural decor; portico with four Corinthian columns, heavy Baroque stucco decorations. The Alferaki family belonged to the large diaspora of Greek settlers in southern Russia. The Alferaks completed the construction of their mansion in 1848 and lived in it for a total of about 30 years. The author of the project was the famous architect, professor of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts Andrei Ivanovich Stackenschneider, a recognized authority at that time in matters of palace architecture. Somewhat later, a large double-height hall, about 9 meters high, decorated with paintings, a fireplace and a massive clock, was added to the house. The ancient moldings that decorated the building from the outside and inside, the enfilade arrangement of the front rooms, the large double-height hall, and the living room ceiling paintings made by Italian artists brought the building closer to the palace type. The built mansion, both in terms of interior and exterior decoration, really was a real palace.

Another palace is associated with the name of Emperor Alexander I. A.S. stopped there on the way to the Caucasus. Pushkin with General N.N. Raevsky. Five years after this, Emperor Alexander I, who loved last years of your life to inspect your own possessions. He died here in 1825. Or didn't he die? According to some historical legends, he simply peacefully retired, taking on the appearance of one of his subjects, and lived to a ripe old age.

Rich cultural life Taganrog. In the city, which is the birthplace of the great writer and playwright A.P. Chekhov, there are many memorable places associated with the name of the writer. A.P. Chekhov is the pride of Taganrog. Chekhov permeates everything in the city. His characters still walk the streets here. Before entering the park you can see a composition based on the story “Kashtanka”. It represents an episode of a Chekhov story - a circus act " Egyptian pyramid" Here the thin one bowed low when he saw the fat one (“Thick and Thin”). How much servility and respect there is in this bow! His wife froze behind him. Son Nathanael stretched out to his full height. Here is the “man in a case” timidly hiding his face from passers-by. The memorial museum “Chekhov's House” has been created and is successfully operating. This is a small outbuilding on the territory of the former household of the merchant Gnutov. The house has three small rooms, a kitchen, a tiny corridor and a cold entryway. Anton Chekhov was born here on January 29, 1860. Memorial Museum“Chekhov's Shop” tells about the life of the Chekhov family in the 70s of the 19th century. Above the entrance to the store there was a sign “Tea, sugar, coffee and other colonial goods”, and below another one - “Drinking and takeaway”, it meant that there was a cellar with wines and vodka at the store. A variety of people came here - peasants, bankrupt landowners, monks, policemen, minor officials - the heroes of Chekhov's future stories. And he saw them all, because as a teenager he often stood behind the counter, replacing his father. On the ground floor there was also a large dining room where the whole family gathered, a kitchen and utility rooms. But the children lived on the mezzanine, there was also a huge living room in which there was a grand piano, in which home theater performances took place, in which, obviously, the future great playwright played an important role. Now everything in this building looks the same as it looked when Antoshi lived here. The future writer studied at the Taganrog Men's Gymnasium, one of the oldest educational institutions in the South of Russia. Now there is a literary museum here. During his gymnasium years, A.P. Chekhov was a regular visitor to the Taganrog Theater; subsequently, all of his plays were staged here, during the writer’s lifetime. Now the theater is named after A.P. Chekhov. And in 1960, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth, a monument to the great Russian writer was unveiled (sculptor I.M. Rukavishnikov). It is installed on Red Square in Taganrog. Chekhov is depicted as a young man sitting on a stone with a book in his hand, facing the street on which he was born.

The names of actress F. G. Ranevskaya, revolutionary P. P. Schmidt, artists K. A. Savitsky and A. K. Kuindzhi, writers K. G. Paustovsky and I. D. Vasilenko, trainer A. A. are also associated with the city. Durov, singer E.V. Obraztsova, poet M.I. Tanich, aircraft designers G.M. Beriev, R.L. Bartini and V.M. Petlyakov, writer and public figure N.V. Kukolnik, surgeon N.A. Bogoraz, mathematician A. A. Samarsky and many other well-known production organizers in our country and abroad, figures in science, culture and art.

Taganrozh residents are proud of their outstanding fellow countrymen, honor their memory, preserve and enhance the rich historical and cultural heritage cities.

During the Great Patriotic War, Taganrog was occupied for almost two years. The largest underground organization against fascism in the south of the country operated in the city. In honor of the underground heroes, the Oath of Youth memorial was opened in 1973. The location chosen for the memorial is deeply symbolic. The sculptural composition, which is the main element of the memorial, is installed in the center of Spartakovsky Lane, in front of the old building of the Chekhov gymnasium, in which pre-war years located secondary school No. 2 named after. A.P. Chekhov. Graduates of school No. 2 named after. A.P. Chekhov in 1941 became participants in the Taganrog underground, which was led by Semyon Morozov, who worked at this school.

I love my city because it is beautiful and dear. I know there are many other worthy people in the world, the most beautiful cities, but it is in Taganrog that I feel good and calm. Here my soul rests, here the air fills my soul with love and happiness. There are many historical and cultural monuments in my city that I am proud of. Preserving them and increasing them is the main task of our generation.

I live in the city in beautiful city. My city is not very big. About 450 thousand people live in it.

We have clean city. It is most beautiful in summer in clear weather. There are many universities and technical schools in our city. People come to study with us not only from all over the republic, but also from other countries. We have many monuments. For example, Lenin and Chapaev.

We also have museums. In them you can learn the history of our republic. Exhibitions from other cities also come. Recently the Kunstkamera came from St. Petersburg.

In recent years, new playgrounds have been installed in the courtyards. They also built many new hospitals.

My city stands on the banks of the Volga River. And in the summer, townspeople love to swim in it and sunbathe on its shore. There are several beaches on the Volga where people relax. In summer there is a ferry to the other side. And you can go on it to the other side.

It's beautiful in winter too. You can go sledding. There are ski resorts in different areas. And fans of this sport can have a lot of fun.

There are many churches in my city. There are several mosques. I have a calm, quiet city.

I really like it here.

My favorite city is Oktyabrsky.

Our city of Oktyabrsky is very beautiful and cozy, with wide streets, tall buildings, parks and squares. It is located on the right side of the IK River, on its bank, next to a small artificial lake.

The city has about one hundred and fourteen thousand inhabitants, at whose disposal are theaters, libraries with huge book collections of more than a million books, Children's and Youth Theater with many clubs and sections, a Sports Palace with gyms and a swimming pool, houses of culture and recreation, a stadium with seats for ten thousand spectators, a local history museum, winter sports facilities. Nurseries and kindergartens are open for the city's children. Almost all preschool children have the opportunity to attend special institutions. The city accepts students from twenty general secondary schools, several vocational colleges, two music schools, a music school and the general technical department of the Ufa Petroleum Institute.

We have big square. In its center there is a huge flower bed, where bright flowers bloom in the summer, and on New Year’s Day a city Christmas tree is installed here.

The city also has hotels, restaurants, cafes, and many different shops where you can always buy goods for every taste. Markets and frequently held fairs have become quite popular. It is interesting to visit Sabantui, where competitions are held in sack running, team tug-of-war, dangerous log climbing for valuable prizes, and others.

Now the city is very fabulous and beautiful. Autumn time painted the trees in bright yellow and red colors, so all the streets of the city where there are many trees became very bright and colorful.

I live in a wonderful city for me. When I came here, everything was interesting to me. At this time I lived in the village. But I told myself that when I grow up I will live in it. A year later we moved to the city. After class, I walked around the city, learning that I had brought in a lot of interesting things, and I decided to go around everything. I went to museums, theaters, cinemas, and we have enough of them in the parks.

On holidays there are beautiful fireworks. I really like watching them. There is also a square, an eternal flame, in the summer I went to the beach, there are a lot of different people there. And in general there are a lot of things. I love my city very much.

I really want to tell you about my favorite city. Semikarakorsk is one of the most ancient settlements on the Don land, and at the same time one of the youngest cities in the Rostov region. I was born in it, live and study there. And this is the most dear place in the world for me. I love my little Motherland with all my heart. Semikarakorsky district is located in the center of the Rostov region on the left bank of the Don.Semikarakorsk is a small, but clean, cozy and very beautiful town. It is quiet and calm, but at the same time fun and not boring. I really love walking around the city in spring and summer, when it is surrounded by a sea of flowers and greenery. I like its low buildings, small park where you can have fun with the whole family. IN holidays Interesting events, concerts and colorful fireworks are held on Stanichnaya Square. The roads of our city are decorated with flower beds. Flowers bloom on them from early spring to late autumn. Last year, three children's playgrounds were built with swings, carousels, slides, and play complexes - it's just wonderful!

The sights of our city are: Hero Square Soviet Union I. A. Levchenko, entertainment center“Cossack Pier”, busts of famous countrymen B. N. Kulikov, V. A. Zakrutkin, I. V. Abramov, A. A. Arakantsev, monument to Ataman M. I. Platov. In Semikarakorsk there is also the Church of the Holy Trinity, the wooden Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow”.

One of the most recognizable Don brands is Semikarakorsk ceramics. This is the only folk one in the Don artistic craft for the production of earthenware products, based on centuries-old traditions. Highly artistic original works made by the masters of JSC "Aksinya" created the glory of the Rostov region, becoming the "pearl" of the Don, its business card, and also received recognition from everyone who at least once held these amazing products in their hands. The works of our masters have been repeatedly awarded with high awards at various domestic and international exhibitions. The art of the Don region rightfully occupies high place in folk crafts of Russia. All Don dishes are made and painted only by hand, which is how it differs from the technology of other places. These products have preserved all the flavor of the Don region, its traditions and history. Don ceramics have the unique property of bringing warmth and comfort into the home. April marked the 40th anniversary of the formation of the Semikarakorsk ceramics folk craft. In honor of this anniversary, on the evening of April 21, the “Semikarakorsk Patterns” festival was held on Stanichnaya Square. In the center of the square, the main decoration and symbol of the holiday was installed - a heroic teapot. Next to it there is an exhibition with products of Semikarakorsk ceramics, andchildren here could paint a faience plate at a master class by artists from Aksinya JSC. On the chestnut alley, the “City of Craftsmen” grew up with souvenirs and beautiful crafts made of stone, wood, beads, and paper. Nearby were folk groups from all the villages in the region. Inflatable rides have grown in the park. And when evening came to the city, the streets became dark, festive fireworks of extraordinary beauty thundered.

A comprehensive program of spiritual revival, raising the level of culture of the population is being implemented in the city and region; the Central Library named after. V. A. Zakrutkina, two houses of culture, a local history museum. The holidays “Zakrutkinskaya Spring” and “Kulikovo Autumn” are held annually. Every year in the fall we celebrate the birthday of our beloved city. It has already become a tradition that at the end of September Semikarakorsk is transformed. The streets are put in complete order, the streets are decorated, and holiday posters are hung. On this day I especially like to be in the city center. The festive atmosphere can be felt everywhere. Performances, celebrations, and entertainment are noisy and fun. This year marks the 340th anniversary of the founding of Semikarakorsk. On this occasion, a bright and cheerful holiday will be organized on September 22 - City Day. The celebrations will traditionally end with fireworks.

The name Semikarakorsk sometimes causes confusion among visitors. What kind of karakors are these that gave the city its name, and why are there seven of them, and not five or six? Therefore, the people of Semikarakor try to explain in different ways unusual name of your city. Some say, according to legend, seven Old Believers brothers of Karakor fled to the Don and founded a settlement. The village was named after the surname and number of brothers. Others name one person - Semyon Karakorov, whose name allegedly formed the basis geographical name. According to Doctor of Historical Sciences, archaeologist S.A. Pletneva, three Turkic roots are quite distinguishable in the name Semikarakorsk: “Semiz” - strong, “kara” - black or “sara” - yellow and “kel”, “kala” - fortress. Therefore, "Semikarakor" means "strong (strong) black (yellow) fortress." This explanation is the most convincing. Because not far from the current city, archaeologists discovered the remains of an ancient Khazar fortification.

Keeping up with the times, our city becomes more comfortable and beautiful every year. I like that my city is growing, transforming, ennobling, becoming so beautiful and modern. Its streets have become more spacious and cleaner, the sidewalks are decorated with a mosaic of multi-colored tiles, and neat green lawns with wonderful flower beds stretch along them. But the main asset of Semikarakorsk is its people. Many glorious names will forever remain in the memory of the residents of our city. These are the Heroes of the Soviet Union - Bedryshev M.A., Zdorovtsev S.P., Levchenko I.A., Hero Russian Federation Blokhin A.V., Heroes of Socialist Labor - Bykadorov Ya.I., Gorozhaeva R.F., Blinova E.D.Among those who glorified the Semikarakor land far beyond its borders was the poet B.N. Kulikov.

I love my city not only because it is my small Motherland. You can and should be proud of Semikarakorsk, admire it, admire it. Its history, appearance and, first of all, the people who created all this beauty are worthy of this. If I ever have to leave here, I will really miss my city.

Any student can write an essay on the topic “My City”. This work is simple in nature. The student is faced with the task of talking about his city. Only thoughts need to be expressed in a certain form and on paper. However, after looking at a few examples, you will understand everything.

Introduction

This is the first part of any job. An essay on the topic “My City” is no exception. The introduction should be small in size, but after reading it, everyone should understand what will be discussed next. You can write something like this: “Each of us has our own hometown. This is the place in which a person was born and spent his childhood. And even though many people then go to other cities to look for their place in the sun, but they always come here they will be glad to return. After all, here is their home, memories and, of course, painfully familiar streets. For me, my hometown N is such a place.”

An essay on the topic “My City” can be written in any key. This direction for an essay gives the author complete freedom of creativity. As an option - the essay “Autumn in my city.” It may look like this: “I love my city. It is always beautiful, but this place looks absolutely special in the fall. We have many parks, comfortably located between entire alleys of trees. In October and November, a real fairy tale reigns here. From the trees Golden, crimson, brown, and scarlet leaves begin to fall, covering everything in the area. They rustle very pleasantly under your feet. Sitting on a bench, you can see the autumn sun shining through the leaves that have not yet fallen from the trees. I often come here in October. "Watching such landscapes, I understand why poets sang about autumn."

In the same spirit you can describe winter, spring or summer. This remains at the discretion of the author. The main thing is that the topic is eventually revealed.

Conclusion

Many schoolchildren have a question: how to finish an essay on the topic “My City”? Well, some people struggle with the beginning of an essay, while others worry about the ending. It's actually simple. We just need to summarize all of the above. The main thing is to do this in such a way that the reader is not left with a feeling of incompleteness of the text.

A paragraph written in this spirit would be an excellent conclusion to an essay: “Almost every person loves and appreciates his hometown. Although many do not understand this in their youth. But then, returning to their motherland, they are aware of it. Your soul becomes warm, pictures of past years, childhood, and youth appear before your eyes. Seeing a certain place, you involuntarily remember what was connected with it. And I’m pretty sure that if I have to leave, I’ll experience the same thing when I return here to my home and beloved city.”

So it’s quite possible on the topic “My City”; many people end in different ways, and this is one of the good options.

Finally, it’s worth giving a couple of tips regarding writing “city”; it will be easier to draw up if you first sketch out a short plan with key words. For each planned paragraph - one line. Looking at such a plan, you can remember what else you wanted to say in the essay. And what - or you won’t be able to miss an important idea.

Don’t forget about using artistic means of expression. Of course, there is no need to overdo it with them either. Otherwise, the text will turn out to be overloaded, and it is very difficult to read. But the essay shouldn’t be “dry” either. In general, if you remember these basic rules, you will be able to get the job done much faster.

This is our small Motherland. What do we call Motherland? (The place where we were born, where we live, where we go kindergarten, where our fathers and mothers, friends live.) Right. Listen to the poem and to the Motherland.

The house where you and I grow up.
And birch trees by the road,
Which way we are walking.
What do we call Motherland?
The sun is in the blue sky.
And fragrant, golden
Bread at the festive table.
What do we call Motherland?
The land where you and I live,
And ruby stars -
Stars of the world over the Kremlin.

(V. Stepanov)

Children, what country do you live in? Russia is our big Motherland, it is what unites all people living in one country. We are all Russians, we all speak the same language. We love our Motherland dearly.

Children, we received an SMS message on our cell phone. Let's read it. It says that guests are coming to us from the capital itself, from Moscow. They really want to get to know our city and the interesting sights of Abakan. We need to help them. Do you know what a landmark is? (These are beautiful, memorable places, which decorate our city.) Are there places in our city that we are proud of and are happy to show to residents of other cities and countries? I think the main attraction of our city is the people living here. After all, we have people of different nationalities living here. Can you name them? (Russians, Khakassians, there are Germans, Tuvinians, Ukrainians, Chinese, Kyrgyz and many other peoples.) They all live together in our beautiful and cozy city.

We always welcome guests the main street our city. What is it called? (People's Friendship Street.) Why do you think it is called that? (People of different nations pass here.) On this street there is a huge hotel “Druzhba”, where guests stay.

Children, what sights would you like to introduce our guests to? (Zoo, Skazka Theatre, Orlyonok Park, Transfiguration Cathedral, Abakan Youth Palace.) Yes, children, in our city there are indeed a lot of interesting places where you can have a good rest and learn a lot of new and interesting things.

The teacher invites the children to tell a little about each attraction one by one, looking at the slides.

A didactic game “Recognize in the photo” is being conducted.

The slide opens. Did you find out what it is? Yes, this is a stele that greets all guests at the entrance to our city.

Then the children look at photographs of the Skazka Theater. People enjoy visiting theaters. Children, why do they come here? Children already know the Skazka Theater from an early age, where they come with their parents to watch fairy tales. This theater is famous all over the world and it has many awards. We should be proud of our actors.

The most favorite place for children it is the Mishutka entertainment center. You were here? What is interesting or noteworthy here? (There is a toy store here, various attractions for children are offered, and there is a children's cafe.)

What kind of place is this in our city? (Montenegro Park.) What is he famous for? Yes, here we see a monument to the soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War. We will tell guests that in summer it is very beautiful here: lawns, flower beds. In the middle is the eternal flame of military glory of the heroes who died for their Motherland. Behind the eternal flame rises a sculptural composition of two figures - a Russian and a Khakass warrior. This idea of the joint struggle of the Russian and Khakass peoples against the Nazi invaders.

You will recognize these photographs immediately. (Eaglet Park.) What interesting things can we offer our guests here? They will probably take their children with them. What attractions await them here? Have you been here? Have you ridden the carousel? Children, do you want to remember summer now and ride the carousel?

The outdoor game “Carousel” is played.

At the command “One, two, three, take the ribbon,” children run in a circle with a ribbon in their hands.

Barely, barely, barely, barely
The carousels are spinning
And then, then, then
Everybody run, run, run
Hush, hush, don't rush,
Stop the carousel.
One - two, one - two
So the game is over.

Educator: Did you enjoy riding the carousel? I think the guests will really like it too.

After such a vacation, we will remember one more of your favorite corners of our city. Did you recognize him? (Zoo.) What can we tell our guests about it? What animals do we meet? There are a lot of exotic animals here that we can only see in a zoo: snakes, crocodiles, monkeys. Many city residents are unfamiliar even with animals such as cows, horses, and goats. For this they go to the zoo.

And this is the youngest and most beautiful corner of our city, which is full of interesting sights. Which of you has been here and can tell us? You are right, this is the Transfiguration Cathedral. What is he like? For what purpose do the townspeople visit this cathedral? Probably some of you went there for baptism or to light a candle for the health of your loved ones. We very often hear the ringing of bells that call believers to service. Religious festivals are also held here. Near the cathedral there is a youth palace. What interesting things can you tell about him? That's right, concerts are held here, and every child can find activities to their liking: dancing, sport sections, performing arts and much more. Many Abakan residents and guests of our city relax in Preobrazhensky Park. After all, all the conditions have been created for this: a beautiful fountain, a park of exotic plants “Gardens of Dreams”, flowering alleys and even a children’s corner. It is imperative to take our guests to this park.

I think that beautiful places There are a lot of them in our city. Please choose your favorite corner in your favorite city. Maybe we didn't name him. I will ask you, as a gift to our guests, to draw with sticks in the boxes where the cereal is poured, that corner of our city that, in your opinion, is the most interesting and beautiful. Our guests will definitely like it. We will leave these drawings until our guests arrive. We will also send them these photographs, which will introduce guests to Abakan in absentia. I will send an SMS message that we are ready to meet our guests.

Children, I am very glad that you know your city well. You talked about him with such interest that it was immediately clear how much you loved him. And now I want to hear good words from you about our city. Everyone takes turns taking a pebble, saying a word and throwing it into the jug.

Educator: Look how many good, kind and affectionate words you said to your beloved city. You really love and take care of him. After all, the future depends on you, guys, on how much you love your Motherland, what good you can do for it when you become adults.

The teacher thanks the children for an interesting conversation and treats them to sweets that are made here in our confectionery factory.
