German train. How to buy train tickets in Germany on Deutsche Bahn‎. Special offers, different in different states

When planning independent rest sometimes you have to buy train tickets.

Here I will briefly tell you how I do this on the German Railways website.

I try to buy tickets 90 days in advance. Then they are much cheaper.

1. Enter the departure station, and the site itself suggests possible options, then the destination station, date, departure time (approximately from...), how many passengers and click Search.

2. In response, we are given several travel options with the number of transfers (column Chg.) and most importantly with prices! All that remains is to choose comfortable train with a convenient number of transfers. You can view the earlier, earlier or later, later departure time.

3. If you need a one-way ticket, then click buy - Purchase or select a return trip - Choose return trip.

After clicking Purchase, we will most likely be asked to enter our age! Because for some reason they don’t remember him at first. Enter the age, number of travelers (their age is also indicated) and click Refresh.

4. Repeat the search. Offers with prices appear again and click Purchase again. Opposite the ticket you like. You can view the earlier, earlier or later, later departure time.

5. This time the system is completely satisfied and offers to log in under your name, register or continue without registering. I chose to continue without registering Book without registering and continue purchasing the ticket Continue booking.

6. There is a lot on the next page important information. First, you should select the ticket type Online-Ticket. It will be sent to you by email and you can print it out. I do not recommend choosing regular mail. There were precedents. The post office didn’t have time to send tickets!

7. Next, choose where we want to sit. The service is paid. In the picture we see the cost - 4 euros. On the left, any - wherever necessary, Open saloon - an open saloon (like an electric train), Open saloon with table - the same, only with a table, Compartment - in a compartment (I traveled in a seated compartment for 6 people). On the right is any - wherever necessary, Window - near the window, Aisle (if possible) - near the passage. Click Proceed.

8. Check all the details. Attentively. Click Proceed.

9. Here they offer to immediately choose a hotel. I didn’t do this, if necessary, it’s probably not difficult to figure it out. Click Proceed.

10. Here again the page will have to be broken. At the top, select the identification method. Recommend by credit card. Just check to see if it expires!

Now let's return to the moment, if you want to go not one way, but also return... Then you can return to step 4 with the selected age and click Choose return trip.

Now you need to select the return date, approximate time, intermediate stops - optional and click Add.

Now we see the selected train there and select the train back. Everything is the same as in point 4. Click Purchase. Opposite the return ticket you like.

The most convenient means of transportation in Germany is the German railway Deutsche Bahn. If you are planning a trip to Germany by rail, you must first familiarize yourself with information about rail connections and ticket prices.

The most convenient means of transportation in Germany is the German railway. Deutsche Bahn. If you are planning a trip to Germany by rail, you must first familiarize yourself with information about rail connections and ticket prices. The most detailed information contained on the website. Navigation of this site is so simple and convenient that even a child can use it.

The site has many advantages over other sites. On this site you can see almost all connections that exist on European railways. You can view the timetable not only of German railways, but also the timetable of many railways around the world. Another equally important positive point is that you can buy tickets directly on the website online. The disadvantages of the Deutsch Bahn website are that it is not possible to buy tickets from other companies through it. In addition, the site does not have a Russian interface. Let's look at how you can buy a ticket on the website.

When we go to a website page, we can find different page options. What all these pages have in common is that there is a section where trip parameters are entered. You can select a language by clicking the button at the top. Choose english. In the route selection area, mark a circle - single journay (one-way trip) or return journay (round trip.) Next, write where you want to go from and where you want to go, without touching the word via. Select the date of your trip and mark the time of day when you would like to travel by marking the circle “departure” (departure) or “arrival” (arrival). If you buy a return ticket, a field will also open there where you can select the travel date and time.

Next you should select "Prefer fast connections"(faster message) or "Local transport"(regional transport). Choose regional transport if you are not going to travel far and you need to find connections between electric trains and regional trains. "Prefer fast connections" will show you how to quickly connect arrival and departure cities on high-speed trains long distance. Next, select the number of passengers.

If you have a card BahnCard, then change this option on the site, and if there is no card, then do not change anything in this option. "BahnCard" is a special card that must be paid for once a year in order to receive discounts on certain types of tickets throughout the year. But such cards are usually bought local residents, tourists don’t really need it. Click “Search” and you will find yourself on another page.

A section appears here where you need to choose the most convenient and cheapest route for you. The route you have chosen will be located at the top. There are 4 windows on the page. The first window shows your route and travel date. You can expand this message using the arrow on the left and view the information in more detail. Details about how trains run and where your transfers are. The second window shows the travel time. In the third window - how many transfers there will be and what types of trains. The number of transfers along the route is denoted by Chg, and the type of train – Products. There are 4 types of trains in Germany.

  • InterCity Express, ICE- This high speed trains who travel between major cities and make few stops.
  • InterCity IC These trains run between smaller cities and make much more stops than ICE.
  • RegionalBahn Express/Regional Bahn, RE/RB They travel between regions and can be compared with our electric trains.
  • CityNight– trains with lying-in seats.

In the fourth window you can find out the price of the trip. In the “Savings fares” section you can find discounted tickets. If there is a green checkmark next to the price, then you can buy tickets right now; if it is gray, then the system is not sure. In this case, you need to click “Check availability” to check if these tickets are available or click “Purchase” to find out what offers are currently available.

To attract passengers, Deutsche Bahn sells tickets at the maximum low prices for those who have decided on their travel route.

The cheapest ticket option is “Saver fare”, which is calculated in this way: if the travel distance is less than 250 kilometers, then the ticket is cheaper, if more than 250 km, then the ticket costs about 50 euros, even on ICE and IC trains. . If you want to travel at the cheapest fare, you should make a quick decision and book tickets without hesitation as soon as they go on sale. Otherwise, you may not be able to find cheap tickets later, since more expensive tickets will remain on sale. Officially, cheap tickets should be on sale 92 days before the train and the sale ends 3 days before. But as practice shows, it is almost impossible to buy tickets with discounts 3 days in advance.

After you select the time and number of transfers, click on the “Purchase” button and go to a page where you are asked to select an available fare. If there is a green check mark next to the red “Purchase” button, then the tariff can be purchased.

If the tariff is unavailable, then the “Purchase” button will be absent. Select a ticket class, I choose 2nd class (Special fares 2nd class).

And you find yourself on a page where you need to book seats(Seat reservation). You will have to choose from three options:

  1. ticket with seats(ticket with seat reservation),
  2. ticket without seat reservation
  3. seats without a ticket (seat reservation without ticket).

If you reserve seats, you will be charged 4 euros for 1 seat.

Next, select “Print out your ticket online” and indicate whether you are buying a ticket for yourself “I shall be using the online ticket personally” or someone else will travel with your ticket “Someone else will be using the online ticket”.

If you need a ticket with insurance, which costs an additional 6 euros, then check the “The insurance you require” option. Next, click “Proceed” and choose whether to buy a ticket by registering on the Deutsche Bahn website or without registering.

Then all you have to do is buy a ticket. Check the box “I wish to book an online ticket and accept the AGB” and using the Your identification as ticket holder on the train option, select which document you will present to prove your rights to your ticket.

Among BahnCard, Credit card, ec-Karte (Maestro), Identity card, choose Credit card. Next, fill in your details - first name, last name, contact telephone number, postal address and payment method - credit card. Fills out the required information about your credit card. And if you want the ticket to be sent to your email in the form of a PDF file, then click “Yes, I wish theonline ticket to be sent directly to the e-mail address stated, together with my booking confirmation, as an unencryptedattachment” and the button “Confirm.” After this, another page will appear where everything you have booked is written. And if everything is correct, click “Make booking. After this, your ticket will be booked and sent to your email.

You need to print out the ticket and show the square barcode to the conductor on the train.

How do I save on hotels?

It's very simple - look not only on booking. I prefer the search engine RoomGuru. He searches for discounts on Booking and 70 other booking sites simultaneously.

We really like trains and railways in Germany.

We were fascinated by Germany's developed railway network. You can take trains to almost any small town. And also in neighboring countries: France, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands. Do you understand the scale?

The main official carrier in Germany is DeutscheBahn, a state-owned joint stock company. Its trains can be easily recognized by the red DB logo on the trains.

In addition to Deutsche Bahn, there are a number of private railway companies related to a certain type.

This is worth remembering if you want to get to your desired location by train. There are many trains on the DeutscheBahn website, but not all, but only the DB company with its fares and travel conditions. For a complete picture, it makes sense to go to the land railway website. There may be more routes (for this area) and the tariffs are different. More on this at the end of the article.

Comfort and service in Russian trains, especially on trains, does not always correspond to the price of the ticket. I still remember with a shudder the winter train Moscow-Dubna. Will the heating be turned on? You run around the cars, looking for the warmest one, and it’s not a fact that the stove will heat you until the final station. Horror, horror!

This is not the case on German trains. Sit down and enjoy:

  • The carriages are not hot in summer and not cold in winter. The air conditioners are perfect.
  • There are toilets in every carriage. And with toilet paper too!
  • The doors of the carriages open as you approach. Closes automatically when you move the required distance
  • There are specially designated areas for bicycles and wheelchairs. The carriages are equipped with monitors with the route schedule.
  • If some section of the railway is undergoing repairs, passengers are asked to get off the train and transfer to a bus that has been running specifically for the duration of the repairs. These buses stop right at the station. They pick up all the train passengers and leave 5-10 minutes after the train stops. The required number of such buses is strictly monitored and there are no problems with a lack of seats. No payment required. The same ticket you purchased is still valid, because... You have already paid for your travel from point A to point B.

I am now describing the ordinary conveniences of the ordinary commuter train. I’m generally silent about high-speed trains. The conditions there are the same as in a business class cabin.

Of the minuses: many have heard about German punctuality. So, when we got to the cities we needed, we often waited for 20-30 minutes for the train on the platform. Or they sat in the carriage halfway to their destination, hoping that the train was about to start moving. But he stood, letting other trains pass.

Apparently this has something to do with the general railway schedule and the priority of the train route. We encountered this situation only on regional routes.

Perhaps punctuality works, but in a special mode.

Why is this happening?

In Germany, and indeed in Europe in general, there are many small gaps between transfers and a short time parking lots.

For example, to get by train from Nuremberg to Rothenburg ob der Tauber (80 km), you need to make 2 transfers in 1 hour. It often happens that if one train is late, another train is waiting for it, then a third, and so on in the chain.

Now imagine that there are such frequent transfers between cities throughout Germany and delays of 5-10 minutes are very difficult to eliminate. Sometimes there is a decent delay time. Maybe the workers somehow sort everything out at night.

We once drove from Munich to Nuremberg. Our train stopped for 40 minutes. They explained to us that we were waiting for the oncoming train to pass, which in turn was waiting for another train to pass.

Conclusion: If you have a plane ticket or international train(they will not wait for the passenger) and you are limited in time, allow 30-40 minutes more time for the route.

Types of trains in Germany

There are several types of trains. They differ in distance range.

For a better understanding, I will compare it with the types of our train classes. But you have to remember that the conditions inside the carriage on German trains are 120 times better.

Express

  • Intercity-Express (ICE), Inter City (IC), EuroCity (EC) - run over long distances, including to other Schengen countries. For example, you can get from Berlin to Dusseldorf in 4 hours 20 minutes. This is comparable to our Sapsan Moscow-St. Petersburg.

High-speed trains reach speeds of up to 300 km/h. Special paths have been built for them. The inside of the carriage looks more like an airplane cabin.

Regional

  • S-Bahn - City train. In cities they connect with metro trains at stations. They connect nearby cities and unite suburbs. This is a kind of metro. I can’t find an analogy with our train.
  • RegionalBahn (RB) - run between cities within the same German state. Maximum distance 100-300km.

They stop at almost all stations. They go every 1-2 hours. You can compare it with my Moscow-Dubna train - 120 km in 2.30 minutes.

  • RegionalExpress (RE) is an improved version of RB. They travel faster, stop less often, mainly at large stations.

A distinctive feature is that the carriages can be double-decker. This is what we drove from Dresden to. Can be compared with the Moscow-Dubna, Moscow-Vladimir express train.

Train ticket - what is it?

It is clear that the ticket we buy at the box office is - ticket. But a train ticket in Russia and a train ticket in Germany are different. To avoid troubles on the road, let's figure out what the difference is and what we pay for.

In Germany

The ticket price may include two services:

  1. Driving on the road
  2. Platz card - payment for a seat (car class 1st or 2nd, your seat), i.e. comfort.

What does this mean for us?

This means that having bought a ticket, we can get off at any station along the way (for example, in a city we like), take a walk there, and then continue the trip using the same ticket.

In Russia

Having bought a ticket and paid for travel from point A to point C, you can get off at your favorite point B. But it is not a fact that you will be able to continue your trip using the same ticket.

Example: We were returning from a forest near Moscow in a large friendly company. We bought a ticket at the station, went to the platform through the turnstile and suddenly realized that it would be worth going to the toilet, because... I'll have to wait another 20 minutes for the train and it's unknown whether there will be a working toilet.

There was no establishment at the station. Strange, isn't it? But we were even more surprised when we approached the station workers near the turnstiles. From them we learned that if we leave the station area (the border is a turnstile, and the toilet was just behind the turnstile), then we will have to buy new ticket, because this one becomes invalid (!) on exit

We asked why, since we paid for the fare? The question turned out to be what is called “backfilling”. About 6 workers gathered around us and heatedly began to discuss the “problem”: do we have the right to travel with a paid ticket or will we need to buy a new one.

Finally, one of the employees allegedly referred to some document unknown to everyone else, which said that you can leave once, but only for a “good” reason. What a “good” reason was was apparently not explained in the document... The workers voted and found our reason important. True, they warned us not to “do this again”... Is it normal?

What is absurd in this story - the rules of the railway lines or the illiteracy of the workers, we did not find out. But the savagery is amazing.

Russian turnstiles on commuter trains. There's no turning back

In Germany

You can safely enter and exit stations along the train route and use your paid ticket, because You have already paid for your travel along the road and you do not need to pay for the same distance again and again.

What to pay attention to

On the Platz card or additional travel conditions.

  • If you bought a 2nd class ticket, then on the next train you will also sit in a 2nd class carriage.
  • If you bought a ticket with an assigned seat, then when you exit you will lose your seat. But you can continue your trip using the same ticket, taking an empty seat in a carriage of the same class. A ticket with a reserved seat is more expensive and is convenient when traveling long distances or during rush hours, when there may not be any free seats.
  • If you bought a ticket for a special promotion (for example cheap ticket regional train of a certain company), then you can continue your trip using this ticket not on any train that passes here, but only on the train of the company whose ticket you purchased.

What happens if you make a mistake and board the wrong train (car)

  • You will have to pay extra for travel.
  • You'll have to pay a fine.
  • You will have to buy a ticket for this train from the controller. There is no need to get out of the carriage and wait for the next train.

The fine will cost more. Compliance with the rules is strictly monitored by Controllers.

Attention! Be sure to read the terms and conditions when purchasing a ticket. If the ticket is cheap, then there is some restriction on its use.

For long-distance trains the conditions are the same. When purchasing a ticket, you should check them personally, because... information may change.

Is it possible to return a purchased ticket?

Yes. More on this below.

Train tickets are economical and convenient

Do you know that you can travel by German railways not only comfortably, but also economically? By the way, you won’t lose comfort.

What are the benefits of a standard ticket?

The tariff for them is called normal. And these tickets are expensive. But they have a number of advantages:

With a ticket with a normal fare, you can travel on any of the trains passing on this route that day.

You can freely exchange a ticket with a normal fare or even return it, receiving the same money back, but the day before the trip.

Restrictions

If you want to exchange or return a normal fare ticket on the day of travel, you can do this too, but the cost will not be fully refunded.

Why is the economy tariff convenient?

  • Standard fare tickets are usually expensive. Therefore, I propose to learn how to use a weekend ticket throughout all German states. Using these tickets, we saved 25% of the budget from .
  • The ticket can be exchanged/returned the day before the trip, unless there is a note in the conditions that the ticket cannot be returned.

Restrictions

  • With a special economy fare ticket you can travel only on certain trains and/or only at specified times.
  • The special ticket cannot be returned on the day of travel.

If not by train, then how?

If you want to visit small authentic towns in Germany, it is better to rent a car. IN small towns trains probably run, but still, by car there is a feeling of freedom of time and the owner of your vacation.

We rented a car in Germany and did not regret it at all: maximum comfort, good free roads, excellent roads. We got stuck in a traffic jam and that was because of road repairs. The amount for rent and gasoline was the same if we traveled by train.

We have written a number of articles about German roads. You can look at them: , .

Railway ticket purchasing sites

So, in Germany there is a network of Deutsche Bahn railways and private railway companies.

1.This is a map of railway lines and transfer hubs DB company.

Official website of the German railways DeutscheBahn - www.bahn.de.

Here you can view and buy train tickets from this company.

2. Regional trains of private companies.

To find the regional train you need for a certain land, do the following:

Enter into the search bar of your Google browser magic words Karte der Verkehrsverbünde und Tarifverbünde in Deutschland.

Let's go here. We see such a map. Click on it.

This is a map of all transport associations in Germany. On the map you see different letters, OWLV, VRR, NRV-Tarif, ZVON and other designations. Select the desired designation and duplicate it into the search engine. If not found, add the words bahn or Tarif to the designation. The websites of local railway companies in Germany will definitely come up in the search.

Sincerely,

Many travelers who prefer to travel around Europe on their own are interested in how to buy a train ticket. In this article I will tell you where you can buy a train ticket in Germany, what types of tickets there are, how much train tickets cost, and I will describe in detail the process of buying tickets online on the English version of the website of the German railways Deutsche Bahn.

Where to buy train tickets?

Train tickets in Germany can be bought at the ticket office at the station, from a machine at the station, or on the Internet. Purchasing at a ticket office or machine requires a good knowledge of the language, since at most train stations in Germany the staff does not speak much English. When purchasing tickets at the box office, please note that you will additionally pay a service fee 2 euros for each ticket. Online tickets are sold on the German Railways website.

What trains are there in Germany?

Before buying a train ticket in Germany, you need to understand which train you want to travel on - high-speed or regional. The high-speed train travels faster than the regional train, but its prices are higher.

TO long-distance high-speed trains include the following: ICE, IC, EN, EC.

TO regional trains relate RE, R, IRE, RB, CAN, S.

When purchasing tickets online, you can choose which trains you prefer.

For example, we need to get from Berlin to Frankfurt. If we check the box Local transport, we are only given regional trains on this route, which travel slower, cost less, and require many transfers. We get the following option:

If we prefer high-speed trains, then tick the box Prefer fast connections, and we already see an option with fewer transfers (from 0 to 3) on the same route and at a higher price.

Discount tickets when traveling in Germany

Traveling on German railways is not the cheapest thing to do. However, the good news is that you can sometimes save a lot of money here too. Below I will provide a list of ticket names and what benefits they provide.

Ticket name Price Description On which trains is it valid?
Länder-Ticket Varies depending on the land of Germany you are traveling through and the number of people. For example, ticket for Bavaria (Bayern-Ticket) costs 23 euros for 1 person, and 39 euros for 5 people in 2nd class; and from 34.5 for 1 person, and 96.5 euros for 5 people in 1st class. Is used for unlimited within one state of Germany(For example, Bavaria, Saxony, Thuringia, etc.). This ticket is suitable for a group of up to 5 people. Depending on the price paid can be used in 1st or 2nd grade(in some states it is only possible to purchase a ticket in 2nd class). The ticket is valid from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 am the next day. On Saturday, Sunday, and bank holidays, valid from 00:00 to 03:00 the next day. All regional trains - IE, RE, RB, S. In addition to trains, the ticket can also be valid in city public transport depending on the land. For example, Bavaria ticket valid in public transport in Munich, Nuremberg, Augsburg, and other cities.

Ticket for the state of Lower Saxony valid on public transport in Bremen and Hamburg.

Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket Fixed price – 44 euros. Is used for unlimited number of trips within 1 day throughout Germany. This ticket is suitable for a group of up to 5 people. The ticket is valid on Saturday or Sunday from 0:00 to 3:00 the next day. Only 2nd grade. All regional trains - RB, IRE, RE, S. In addition to trains, the ticket can also be valid on city public transport.
Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket 44 euros for 1 person, 76 euros for 5 people. Is used for unlimited number of trips within 1 day throughout Germany. This ticket is suitable for a group of up to 5 people. The ticket is valid from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 3:00 the next day. Only 2nd grade. All regional trains - RB, IRE, RE, S, and some others.

To make it easier for you to figure out which state of Germany your point of departure/destination is located in, I have attached it below political map Germany.

Also, when purchasing tickets in advance, the system can give you two ticket prices - regular price (Standard fare) and share price ( Savings fares). The number of tickets for the promotion is usually limited, so I recommend buying a ticket in advance - there is a chance to buy it at the best price.

Discount tickets when traveling from Germany abroad

If you want to buy a train ticket from Germany to any European country, I recommend that you go to the German Railways website page with special offers for tickets across Europe. On this page, for a fixed price (starting from 19 Euros), you can travel by train to nearby countries (Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Belgium, Poland, etc.). To purchase a ticket, select the destination country you are interested in on the left side of the page, and then click on the Book your ticket here button.

If you want to buy a ticket for an overnight train from Germany abroad, please note that in most cases it is not possible to pre-purchase them online, so it is unlikely that you will be able to buy such tickets at a discount.

What is written in the program for buying train tickets online?

In this part of the article I want to decipher for you what is written in the program for purchasing tickets on the website of the German railways, so that you can roughly navigate it.

Now I will tell you step by step how to buy a train ticket in Germany and help you understand what is written on this ticket. Let's take an example route Munich – Frankfurt am Main – Munich(München Hbf – Frankfurt (Main) Hbf – München Hbf). Hbf is main station cities.

1. On the main page of the Deutsche Ban in the upper left corner, fill in the required fields:

From station– departure station: choose München Hbf or München Hauptbahnhof.

to station– arrival station: choose Frankfurt (Main) Hbf.

Then select single journey– one way ticket or return journey- two-way ticket. In our case we choose return journey.

Outward journey - a trip there: Click on the calendar and select the departure date to Frankfurt am Main. We will choose 12/20/2013. Then we select the time: here you can select both the departure time from Munich (Departure) and the time at which you need to arrive in Frankfurt am Main (Arrival). We select departure at 08:00.

Return journey – trip back: choose the date of return to Munich. We will select the date 12/22/2013 and departure time 15:00.

We want to see prices for all categories of trains - both high-speed and regional, so we tick both boxes - and Prefer fast connections, And Local transport.

In field Passangers(passengers) By default, 1 adult and 2nd class on the train are selected. If you want to add another passenger, you can expand the menu and add a passenger or a child under 14 years old, for whom the ticket will be sold at a reduced price.

Next, press the button Search. We are given this page on which the German road system has listed all available trains starting at 08:28. We see that a ticket on the route Munich - Frankfurt am Main is on sale on sale for 44 euros. Thus, the optimal price/travel time ratio is 05:32 - an RE train with 3 transfers departing at 09:00.

Please note that Special conditions apply to tickets purchased as part of the promotion. This ticket can only be used on those trains for which this ticket is issued, ticket exchange or refund is not possible from the first day of its operation. If you want to exchange or return a promotional ticket before its validity begins, you will be charged 17.5 euros of its value.

In case of purchase standard price tickets, it can be used in all regular trains on this route. If you want to exchange or return a ticket before it begins validity, this can be done free of charge. Exchange or return of a ticket from the first day of its validity is possible for an additional payment of 17.5 euros.

If we click on the red arrow near München Hbf, we will be given full route of our trip with the schedule of our trip and the time for the transfer.

Here you need to pay attention to the field Platform(path number), where the route on which you arrive at the transfer point and the route of departure from it is indicated. For example, in our case we depart from Munich from route 21, arriving in Ingolstadt on route 2. Transfer time(transfer time) is 11 minutes.

Fold the arrow back and now click on the red button Return journey(Return trip) to select a return train from Frankfurt am Main to Munich.

We are given options for the return route at the time we specify - after 15:00 on 12/22/2013. We are happy with the first option - the RE train with 3 transfers, leaving at 15:30. In field Savings fares now the price is reflected at 88 euros - this is already the price for a round-trip ticket. Press the red button Purchase(purchase of a ticket).

Information about our return ticket appears on the screen, the system has combined the offer Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket, valid on a weekday (in our case, on the day of departure, Friday), with an offer Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket, valid on weekends (in our case, on Sunday). The system once again reminds that ticket exchange or refund is not possible. You can also choose the regular price ( Standard fare), but more expensive – for 118.60 euros. Feel free to press the button Continue The price we chose is 88 euros.

Then the system offers us to register or buy a ticket without registering. Select a field Book without registering(purchase without registration) and click on Continue booking.

On the next page, the system offers us options for delivering a ticket to us - via the Internet by email or by real mail :) We choose to receive the ticket via the Internet (Online-Ticket). I would like to immediately draw your attention to the fact that you (and, if necessary, someone accompanying you) must travel on the ticket that you order and pay for. The e-ticket is only valid for the person whose name appears on it. Click on the button Proceed.

Let's go to this page.

On this page we need to select an identity document - in our case we select bank card (Credit card) . We are not Europeans, and it is available to us only this one identification method. Don't chooseIdentity card– this is not just a passport, but an ID card for citizens of a number of European countries, and Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus are not among them.

Important point: be sure to take it with you on your trip bank card, for which you bought a ticket! You will definitely be asked to present it along with your ticket! You must be the owner of this card as it will be used as a means of identifying you.

So, let's choose Credit card, enter in the field First name own name, Surname– last name strictly in accordance with those indicated on the bank card, Credit card number – Bankcard number, valid until– card validity period (month/year). Then, for convenience, put a tick in the box Also use this credit card for payment(use this card to pay for the ticket).

Update for 10/20/16: starting from October 1, 2016, it is no longer necessary to fill out this page on the website and present a bank card to the controller on the train as an identification document. Now you are required to present your ticket and passport to the controller during check. Accordingly, your first and last name on the ticket must match those indicated on your passport.

Buses in Germany

Recently, prices for train tickets in Germany have increased very much, so I would advise choosing a bus to travel around the country. In some cases a train ticket costs as much as 3 times more expensive than a ticket on the bus in a similar direction! Bus route network in Germany is very extensive, buses call both cities and many major airports countries.

All experienced travelers have long known this life hack: it is convenient to travel around Germany by bus: you will not need to make transfers, because Almost all buses are direct (the same cannot be said about trains), you will save yourself on lunch or even an overnight stay in a hotel in a new city. Judge for yourself, it’s better to leave the same €30-40 saved on buying a ticket for your pocket expenses. And once you get on the bus, you definitely won’t get confused, won’t get lost, and will get straight to your destination. This is very important for tourists who are in Europe for the first time.

For greater clarity, I will give approximate prices one-way bus tickets in Germany compared to train ticket prices:

  • Berlin - Munich (bus ticket: from € 49, train ticket: from € 115);
  • Dresden - Berlin (bus ticket: from € 20, train ticket: from € 36);
  • Frankfurt - Munich (bus ticket: from € 35, train ticket: from € 79);

German railway- this is important vehicle in Germany. If you are flying to Germany on Airberlin, then you definitely need to know how to find information about train connections and ticket prices on the website (this is how the name of Deutsche Bahn is read).

  • You cannot buy tickets on the Deutsche Bahn website for trains operated by another railway company.
  • on the Deutsche Bahn website no Russian interface. Therefore, in this instruction we are mastering the English interface of Deutsche Bahn.

Step 1 – choosing a route

Like any carrier, German Railways wants to carry as many passengers as it can attract. Therefore, Deutsche Bahn offers tickets at very low prices to those who have decided in advance when and where they will travel.
