Where is the best place to relax on the Dead Sea? Israeli resorts on the Dead Sea: Ein Bokek, Ein Gedi, Neve Zohar and others - where is the best place to relax. How much does a vacation to the Dead Sea cost in Israel?

The Dead Sea is the lowest place on earth and people come here to experience new sensations or get treatment. Lie in the water with a magazine, for example, smear yourself with unique mud or undergo a unique salt water treatment. Due to its high density, the water seems to push you upward, and a feeling of weightlessness is created - you can feel like an astronaut. I think the Dead Sea in Israel does not need any special introduction; I’d rather focus on practical information.

The healing effect of swimming is improved due to the increased oxygen content in the air in this place - 15% more than usual - and a dense atmospheric layer, it is impossible to burn here, and the skin darkens gradually.

I vacationed with my parents in Israel in January. Traveling on our own from Tel Aviv to Eilat (you can read about this in more detail here..), we could not help but swim in the Dead Sea, especially since bus 444 from Jerusalem to Eilat makes a stop here.

It makes several trips a day, and along the way you can get off and visit such Israeli attractions as the ruined fortress of Massada (you can read my review of the trip to the fortress of Massada here) and the Ein Gedi nature reserve.

There are no direct flights from Russia to the Dead Sea; most compatriots fly to Tel Aviv, and from there they go to the Dead Sea by taxi or bus.

Public beaches in Ein Bokek are accessible all year round and completely free. In this small resort town only 11 hotels. Perhaps this is why prices here are slightly higher than on the Red Sea in Eilat or on the Mediterranean Sea in any other city in Israel. At the same time, the overall rating on booking.com for guests who spent their holidays in these hotels is usually less than 8.0 points.

If you want to save money, you can stay in the neighboring town of Arad, which is about 30 minutes away. Buses go there frequently, and accommodation is much cheaper.

Hotel and shop employees come to work in Ein Bokek from there. As elsewhere in Israel, many of them are Russian-speaking emigrants. They also shared this information with me. Therefore, even without knowledge of English you will not get lost.

One of the first stops on the route from Jerusalem to Ein Bokek will be the Ein Gedi Spa. You can get out there too. This is a paid closed area with a swimming pool equipped with a beach, sun loungers, changing rooms, showers and hydrogen sulfide baths. Also here you can smear yourself with healing mud, visit a massage, a cafe and a store with Dead Sea cosmetics.

Entry fee for the whole day is 1200 shekels. It is here that water has full medicinal properties, and there is mud that is on the shore near the water. But it’s more pleasant to use dirt that has already been cleared of sand and other impurities. It is in special large containers.

It is useful to smear the entire body, except the face and heart area.

You can take salt, water and dirt from the Dead with you. Just be sure to wrap everything in several bags. Salt corrodes even plastic bottles, so no matter what gifts of nature you bring, pack everything carefully so that there is no “embarrassment” with your suitcase during the flight.

It is better to go to SPA-Eengedi with a tour than on your own. The cost of such a trip from Tel Aviv will cost you from 150 shekels.

The beaches of Ein Bokek are located next to salt processing plants. Factories dump the processed and now useless salt back into the sea, thus the Dead Sea gradually decreases in size, and its properties become less useful from year to year. There is no dirt there.

Some tourists buy mud in a store and smear it on the shore.

We spent on public beach The Dead Sea is four hours, which was enough for us to feel the pleasant effect after swimming. The skin becomes smooth and slightly oily, wounds on the whole body heal quickly.

All beaches in Ein Bokek are equipped with free changing rooms and showers. For those who like to sunbathe without a swimsuit or are embarrassed by skin problems, special fences - solariums - are installed, separated by gender.

The atmosphere in the city is relaxing. Vacationers wear white hotel robes. There are few people in January. The temperature of the Dead Sea is about +20 degrees. Due to the density of the water, you won’t be able to swim as usual, and it’s cold to sit for a long time without moving.

Be careful! Especially if you are traveling with children or elderly people. We met a lifeguard who has been working at the Dead Sea for more than 9 years, and in the intervals between swims we learned a lot of funny, and unfortunately not very funny, stories related to such a seemingly calm and safe sea. Drowning is much more common in the Dead Sea than in others!

Here are a few rules to follow when swimming in the Dead Sea:

1. Don't dive in headfirst! The sea is rich in minerals and salts. Right in front of me, one guy, out of joy and emotion, apparently expected to get to the other side in Jordan. But after several sweeping strokes under water, the swim was over. In this case, shout to the person to close his eyes and not rub them with his hands, go up to him and help him get out of the water, walk to the shower with his eyes closed. It is necessary to rinse them well. If a person becomes confused and does not receive help in time, the probability of drowning is very high.

Even with a small wave, this probability increases. In addition to the fact that the water begins to corrode the mucous membrane, the wave density and flow characteristics are not in your favor.

Watch yourself and your children, do not let water get into your eyes, nose and throat.

2. Swim better on your back, carefully and without sudden movements, so as not to lose your balance. Once you are on your stomach, you will feel how your legs are being pushed up by the water, and your head is being pulled down.

4. Take rubber slippers on your trip to avoid scratching your feet on the sharp salt crystals at the bottom. Despite the fact that there are equipped entrances, including those with handrails.

5. Be sure to rinse off after swimming in the Dead Sea fresh water, there are free showers on all beaches.

6. The skin may tingle a little - this is the effect of beneficial minerals. Wounds or scratches then heal very quickly. But it is better to do depilation a day or two before the intended bathing.

These simple rules will help you spend your time at the Dead Sea with health benefits.

In between swims, you can go shopping, of which there are plenty right on the coast. They offer a wide variety of Dead Sea cosmetics and souvenirs.

The first question that arises when preparing a trip to the Dead Sea is which city is better to choose, Ein Bokek or Neve Zohar? We preferred Neve Zohar, located three kilometers away, to the Ein Bokek hotel complex. These two hotel complexes are located very close to each other and you can easily walk from one to the other along the embankment.

The hotel was chosen on the service Booking.com Particular attention here should be paid to super offers, the discount of which sometimes reaches 70%. There are also 4-5 star hotels in Neve Zohar, such as Leonardo Privilege Dead Sea and Herods Dead Sea, but we chose one of the Zimmers. And I must say we didn’t regret it.

Zimmers in Israel are something like a cottage with a separate entrance and veranda. We immediately liked Zimmer. A large veranda, on the veranda there is a table, chairs, barbecue and even a sink with warm water supply and a work area. In general, all conditions have been created for cooking in the fresh air. The main thing is not to forget to bring this very food with you, otherwise in Ein Bokek the prices for food and water are, to put it mildly, steep.

The inside of the Zimmer is clean and very cozy, there is a double bed, a wardrobe for things and clothes, a dressing table and a coffee table, a flat-screen TV and wifi. The kitchenette is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, kettle, sink, cabinets and utensils. The bathroom has a bath, shower, toilet and everything you need... Well, what else do people need who have decided to relax for a couple of days without extra costs?

I must say that we were very lucky with the price; August was the hottest month in Israel and the discounts on accommodation were quite decent. As a result, two days of accommodation in the Zimmer cost $120.

In August it is certainly hot at the Dead Sea. We were passing through and tried to swim in the sea for about three or four days. The sensations must be said to be supernatural. It feels like you are walking into a heavy oily liquid that is hotter than air. And this despite the fact that the air temperature here at this time of year rarely falls below + 45.

As you know, the coast is the lowest piece of land on Earth and is located at more than 400 m below sea level. In this regard, the atmospheric pressure in this area is noticeably increased, and the oxygen content in the air is 15% higher than at any other point globe. The air here is unusually clean, a kind of natural pressure chamber, saturated with bromine vapor.

At the same time, you can sunbathe at the Dead Sea as much as you like, but you still won’t get burned. And all thanks to an additional 400 meter layer of air, saturated with water vapor and minerals, creating a protective filter barrier against harmful ultraviolet rays.

But we decided that we would go to the sea early from 7 to 10 in the morning, while it was not so hot. And in the evening from 6 to 8 o'clock. During the night and in the evening the water manages to cool down a little and no longer seems so hot.

The public beach in Nove Zohar is located next to the Herods Dead Sea Hotel. From Zimmer to the beach it takes about five minutes by car.

The beach, I must say, is quite good. It’s clean, there are lifeguards, a toilet and a changing room. But the most important thing is that there is salt there and the shore is not covered with sand like on most other beaches. You walk in and see under your feet that the bottom actually consists of salt!!! This has been a rarity for Dead Sea beaches lately.

If you really look at it this way, then the Dead Sea is not the most salt Lake On the Earth. However, it is the mineral composition of the Dead Sea that is considered the most unique and has a healing effect on the human body.

Dead Sea minerals are capable of restoring health and youth to people and have the highest therapeutic effect in the world. Water and mud are especially effective in treating skin diseases, including practically untreatable ones such as psoriasis.

Three kilometers from Neve Zohar is the resort of Ein Bokek, a city with a developed tourist infrastructure. There are more than a dozen hotels, hospitals, SPA salons, shopping centers, entertainment venues. In the shopping centers of Ein Bokek, prices for Dead Sea cosmetics are much lower than in other places. And here you can buy Jerusalem candles inexpensively.

Beach holidays at the Dead Sea attractive to our compatriots, because spending a vacation here means enjoying a unique combination of crystal clear water and fresh air. What else is needed to heal the body and rejuvenate the soul?
The Dead Sea is located near the capital of the state Israel and is a complex that is not found anywhere else in the world. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that this body of water is almost half a kilometer below the level of the World Ocean. The waters of the Dead Sea contain solutions of salts beneficial to the body. Swimming in the Dead Sea means saturating your body with almost all the microelements it needs.
The secret of the uniqueness of this sea lies in the deep springs gushing from its bottom. It is these hot springs that supply mineral elements to sea water.

It was here that King Herod the Great built a refuge for his family in ancient times. A synagogue, fragments of mosaics, hot and cold baths and ruins of other buildings (palaces, armories, etc.) have been preserved.

Tours to the Dead Sea

Prices for tours for 2 people for 7 nights with departure from Moscow are given.

Dead Sea beaches

The beaches of the Dead Sea can be divided into private and public. The first ones belong to hotels and are well equipped - there are sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, toilets, and convenient descents into the water. Since the Dead Sea becomes shallow every year and the distance to it from the hotel increases, special transport takes guests to the water. Excellent beaches are located in the resort of Ein Bokek.

Free beaches are less well equipped, but they always have a shower to wash off the salt. Also sometimes there are sun umbrellas and toilets. On all beaches you need special shoes for swimming to avoid cutting yourself on the rocks. Swimming time in the Dead Sea should not exceed 20 minutes.

The Dead Sea region is located in an amazing zone - solar radiation is practically safe here. You can sunbathe for 8 hours straight and not get sunburned. Wraps with healing mud and black clay often take place right on the shores of the Dead Sea. Zohar hot springs are rich in sulfur, their water helps with diseases of the joints and muscles.

Treatment at the Dead Sea

Dead Sea - absolutely unique place, which has no analogues in the world. Millions of years ago, in its place was the Lashon Sea, which dried up and left behind a layer of salt up to 2 kilometers thick. It lies directly under the Dead Sea, providing it with incredible salinity: 270 ppm! Sea waters contain magnesium, calcium, sodium and potassium chloride, as well as bromides. The air itself at Dead Sea resorts is saturated with bromine - it has a relaxing and calming effect on the human nervous system. In addition, the oxygen content in the air above the Dead Sea is much higher than anywhere else on the planet - in fact, it is a natural pressure chamber.

In health resorts located on the seashore, skin diseases are successfully treated, especially psoriasis (more than 93% of those cured!), as well as diseases of the musculoskeletal system and respiratory organs. The climate and procedures have a beneficial effect on those who suffer from high blood pressure.

Wraps with healing peloid mud and black clay rejuvenate the skin, smooth out wrinkles, and tone it. Mud and clay relieve rheumatic pain and cleanse the skin. Sulfur baths with water from Zohar springs strengthen the circulatory system.

Dead Sea Resorts

The main resorts of the Dead Sea are Ein Bokek and Neve Zohar. This is where most luxury hotels and health resorts, boarding houses and balneological centers are located. The infrastructure is better developed in Ein Bokek, where there are many entertainment venues, restaurants, shops. In Neve Zohar, life is in full swing inside the hotels, which are ready to offer their guests almost everything their heart desires.

Ein Bokek is the most famous resort Dead Sea. This is the one health complex with many luxury hotels and beautiful beaches. There are large balneological centers where you can take a health course based on the waters and mud of the Dead Sea. Bokek stream contains selenium, which helps improve the body's immunity.

Ein Gedi is an oasis in the Judean Desert. Mineral water is produced here from a legendary spring. In addition, in Kibbutz Ein Gedi there is the famous Ahava factory, which makes cosmetics based on minerals and salts from the Dead Sea. There is a store on the factory premises. In Ein Gedi there is a medical complex where you can take a hydrogen sulfide bath and sunbathe on the public beach. The entrance to the water is rocky and difficult; special shoes are required.

Dead Sea Attractions

The most famous local attraction is the ancient fortress of Massada. It was built during the time of King Herod the Great. The fortress resisted the Roman army: its defenders preferred death to defeat. Detailed history the fortress can be recognized at the light and sound show that takes place here in summer season. It starts at sunset and lasts about an hour. Simultaneous translation into Russian is available. You can climb the mountain where the fortress stands on foot or by cable car.

Another popular place among tourists is the mountain range, which was called “Lot’s Wife”. According to biblical history, the wife of righteous Lot turned into a pillar of salt after she looked back at being destroyed by angels hometown Sodom. At certain angles, the pillar looks like a frozen female figure.

IN national park Qumran, which is located on the coast of the Dead Sea, you can see the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1947. The scrolls themselves are kept in the Temple of the Book of the Israel Museum. Ein Gedi is one of the Dead Sea oases that is definitely worth a visit. This is where the magnificent Shulamit waterfall, ice lakes and stone baths are located, as well as a luxurious Botanical Garden, where more than 900 species of bushes, trees and flowers grow.
