Hotel Mediterranean Beach Resort 5* is located on the shore of the bay, in the resort of Laganas, near a five-kilometer strip of sandy beach. There is a center nearby water activities and sports. You can explore the island by land or by sea by renting a car or a yacht, respectively. The hotel's attractive swimming pool is surrounded by a sun terrace, which serves as a man-made extension of the beach. There is a bar-restaurant next to the pool, serving refreshing cocktails and ice cream. For a complete meal, the hotel has an elegant restaurant. Each room is equipped with a balcony or terrace. Wi-Fi is available free of charge and without problems anywhere in the hotel. A fitness center with massage rooms and sauna. For those vacationing with their families, there is a children's section in the pool, a crib in the room and babysitting services.

The price does not match, it is clearly overpriced. There are many similar hotels in the neighborhood that are half the price. Unfortunately, the hotel does not deserve the declared 5 stars: the furniture is old and creaky, towels with holes, the bathroom is cracked, bottles of shampoo/shower gel have been used apparently for years, they have plaque and something like rust on them, they are simply used periodically filled with very low-grade stuff products that are difficult to wash. The water in the tap is salty, apparently straight from the sea, one could only hope that it was at least lightly filtered; it makes your hair stand out, even if you use your own shampoo. After brushing my teeth I had to spit out the salty taste for a long time. From time to time a strange smell arose in the room, very unpleasant, something between a garbage dump and a sewer, fortunately not often. There is no kettle, no iron, no bathrobes, no slippers in the room, which seem to be required for five stars. With half board, you will be fed 2 times a day, but you won’t even be given free water for dinner; tea or coffee costs 2.5 euros extra. While in public areas, for example, in the pool area or on sun loungers, it is prohibited to drink water brought with you; the hotel believes that everything that hotel clients drink should only be purchased at the hotel bar. You can smoke everywhere, as it turned out, near the pool with children, on sun loungers where, in addition to the smoker, there are non-smokers (like me), so if you don’t smoke, you will have to inhale the cigarette stench, this is inevitable. As for the food... enough to not be hungry, but not varied.
Proximity to the beach, availability of sun loungers (the downside is that free sun loungers are only near the pool, and near the sea - 5 euros per day), relatively small number of vacationers (no crowds, and swimming is very comfortable), there are Russian-speaking staff (not that without this the holiday would not have been a success, it was just nice to chat with the employee at the reception, Boris, who told a little about the sights of the island and gave him directions to the area). The hotel provides beach towels/deposit 5 euros per towel which is refunded on the day of departure. The room was cleaned every day, or rather the bed was remade, the towels were changed (the floors were probably never clean, as white socks turned black in a second). The staff was quite smiling and helpful, not always, but mostly.

Two-room suite on the 3rd floor (no elevator). The shower stand is falling out of the wall, shampoos have no labels, there are no sockets in the bath, there are no free sockets in the rooms for charging phones, the light on the balcony does not turn on even after asking the reception, the bed creaks with any movement. Breakfast: no cottage cheese, only yogurt and sour cream, Roquefort type cheese once 2 weeks in advance, no seafood for cold appetizers, cold meats - 2 types of boiled sausage, 1 type of smoked sausage, overcooked and overdried bacon, freshly squeezed juice only for dinner fee (vegetables, fruits, dessert, hot dishes - plenty and tasty). The waiters in the restaurant are not experienced, but they try. Safe with key - for a deposit, billiards and other games for 2 euros. The pool in front of the beach is small but deep. There is no shower on the beach, just a tap, a hose and a slippery wooden tray like a deck. It is cold in the spa, the finishing elements of the floor, steps, and decking around the pool are deformed, cracks are visible, and in the sauna there are unclosed holes with wires in the wall. Wifi works normally only in the lobby and bar of the main building; in the rooms and by the pool it is disgusting or non-existent. There is a sense of decline in everything, cost savings - on staff, on the maintenance and routine repairs of rooms, on maintaining the territory and lawns. We do not recommend, we will not go again, or to another hotel.

Review written by Anton September 23, 2018. I stayed with my wife for 7 days in a standard room on the second floor. We haven’t stayed below 5 stars for a long time. I always thank the staff with disproportionately high tips. At first glance, it’s clear that the hotel is clean and not poorly maintained, but the room, as I was told, is very good , little things are visible that together spoil general impression and disappointment about choosing this hotel. Before moving in, I asked to see the most comfortable room, I love comfort, the price doesn’t matter. They showed me a suite with a jacuzzi and a balcony overlooking the pool and the beach for a ridiculous surcharge of 350 Yuro. Large, white, clean but: 1. with ceilings for Lilliputians and under the roof, which heats up like a stove during the day. 2. My husband and I vacationed in this hotel in July 2015, we have already been there 2 times (we were last year). Following the results of our vacation in 2014, we decided to visit this hotel again, because... Last year there were no problems, but on the contrary, I really liked everything. This year everything is exactly the opposite; if it weren’t for a good mood for the holidays, it would be completely sad. During this period we were the only Russians in this hotel. In order:
Pros: we checked in quickly, despite the early arrival. Good food, but meager and monotonous.
Cons: attitude of the staff (for 3 days they tried to find out and ask us to find a Russian channel), all 3 reception workers nodded their heads at us, were indignant, referred to some Nikolai, and promised, but after 3 days we were tired of their indifference and we stopped talking about them this is a good thing to ask...
We stayed in this hotel from July 24, 2015 for 10 days.
The good: The rooms are spacious, there is a small balcony. It is better to choose a room on the second floor (exclusive, check with the tour operator!!!). The sea is magnificent: clean, refreshing, but a little shallow - walk 200 meters to swim). Small pool, with it, sunbeds and umbrellas are free. Seven steps down and a paid beach (umbrelo and 2 sunbeds cost 6 euros and two drinks for free).
Not very good: Take fumitox with you (mosquitoes). The hotel borders the beach club: music from morning to evening (you won’t rest at lunch). On Sundays white party until 00:30 - we went to the receptionist to sort things out and called the police. Breakfast and dinner are left much to be desired (this is neither Turkey nor Egypt). For breakfast: cereal, bread, 2 types of cheese, 3 types of sausage, tomatoes and sauces, sometimes fruits other than apples...
We booked this hotel on Booking.com. Upon arrival, it turned out that they had left us two rooms, but we didn’t choose, we immediately checked into the first one we came across. The room is clean and good. It was not located in the main building where the restaurant was, but further away, closer to the beach. I read in reviews that the main building (with the restaurant) is very noisy. The hotel itself is small. First line. There is a small swimming pool. We rested in this hotel in the summer of 2014 for the second time and again we were not disappointed. The beach is great! We vacationed with children (6 and 9 years old) and their most vivid memory is still the little turtles hatching (we were there at the end of July)!
