Approach to the Kerch bridge from the Crimea. The design of the railway approach will have to be adjusted due to the soil conditions. Excerpt from the Federal Target Program for the Development of Crimea

Russian agency railway transport(Roszheldor) and Stroygazmontazh LLC entered into a contract for the construction of railway approaches to Crimean bridge from the side of Kerch. This was reported on Wednesday, April 12, by Russian media with reference to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Transport.

“The contract was concluded in pursuance of the order of the Russian government dated January 26, 2017, which designated SGM as the only contractor for this project,” the Russian ministry said in a statement.

The Russian Interfax informs that the contract price is 16.9 billion rubles (about 7.8 billion UAH) and cannot be exceeded.

“Settlements under the contract are subject to treasury support in the manner prescribed by Russian legislation,” the Russian ministry noted.

The construction of railway approaches in Crimea will be managed by the construction department of the bridge across the Kerch Strait of Stroygazmontazh. It is reported that the company is ready to “immediately begin construction and installation work at the site.”

Construction involves laying an 18-kilometer branch line across the territory of Crimea, which will adjoin the section of the Kerch-Dzhankoy railway. The line will be double track, non-electrified, with the possibility of electrification in the future. In addition to the tracks themselves, special operational buildings will be built, a tunnel will be laid, Bagerovo station will be reconstructed, a park at the Kerch-Yuzhnaya station will be equipped, and bases for the deployment of firefighting and recovery trains will be organized. The start of temporary operation of the railway line is scheduled for August 1, 2019, completion of work and commissioning of the facility into permanent operation on December 1, 2019.

In April 2017, it became known that Russia had approved an estimate for the construction of a railway in the Kuban that will go to the Kerch Bridge. According to the Russian Ministry of Transport, construction of the railway near the village of Taman will cost 49.1 billion rubles (about 23 billion hryvnia).

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the need to build a crossing across the Kerch Strait immediately after the annexation of Crimea - in March 2014. They promised to build the bridge by 2018 and put it into operation in the summer of 2019.

At the beginning of July, the Crimean Bridge information center reported that the total cost of building a bridge across the Kerch Strait from Russia to Crimea will be 227.92 billion rubles in prices of the corresponding years.

Previously, it was reported that the Russian government postponed the start of temporary operation of the railway part of the bridge across the Kerch Strait for a year - from December 2018 to December 2019.

The Ukrainian side withdrew from the agreement with Russia on the construction of the bridge in 2014, after the annexation of Crimea by Russia.

On April 19, at the 21st international exhibition on transportation, transport and logistics “TransRussia”, the Ministry of Transport of Crimea presented a video on the construction of railway approaches to the bridge across the Kerch Strait. The visualization video shows the new railway junction as designers see it, new station with an underground passage, an overpass over the road to Arshintsevo, a bridge over the Melek-Chesme river and other structures.

A section of the new railway line will run along the North-Eastern part of the peninsula from the Kerch Strait to Bagerovo station. The designed approaches are a double-track railway line with a length of 18 km. The total length of the laid tracks is 47 km.

Interesting observation. In the Lenproekt video, the M62 diesel locomotive is shown in a modification from the BZHRK - DM62 (Molodets railway missile system). The bogies are jawless (although the springs were “forgotten” during visualization), blocky buffer lights (rectangles) and, most importantly, the communication and control panel (the box under the serial number)... so the diesel locomotive is a combat locomotive and this is not accidental. Another reminder: we are peaceful people, but our ARMORED TRAIN is on a siding.

It is planned to build a new park for the Kerch-Yuzhnaya station, located 3 km from the transport crossing. At the existing Kerch station, it is planned to build a base for fire and recovery trains, necessary to support the designed and existing railway infrastructure.

The new park of the Kerch-Yuzhnaya station will accommodate the reception, departure, and passage of freight passenger and commuter trains, boarding and disembarking passengers. For the safety of passengers, the construction of an underground pedestrian tunnel is planned.

The project provides for the reconstruction of engineering communications falling into the construction zone. To intersect at different levels the existing Kerch-Arshintsevo railway line and the projected Kerch-Yuzhnaya section - Bagerovo station, a single-track railway overpass was designed for 14 km of the Kerch-Arshintsevo line.

Due to the difficult terrain on the site, it was necessary to provide a large number of artificial structures.

Employees of JSC Lenpromtransproekt designed a technically complex modern artificial structure - a double-track railway tunnel with a length of 1 km, designed for seismicity of 9 points.

A bridge on a curve with a radius of 1,500 meters is provided across the right tributary of the Melek-Chesme River.

For the passage of agricultural machinery and the passage of cattle, it is planned to build a double-track, single-span overpass with a length of 44 meters.

In the area of the village of Bagerovo, it is planned to build a railway overpass over the planned road bypass of the city of Kerch.

It is planned to reconstruct the Bagerovo station, which will allow it to handle freight trains of all directions, as well as serve passenger and commuter trains.

CJSC Lenpromtransproekt carries out engineering surveys and develops design estimates for the construction of railway approaches on the territory of the Republic of Crimea to the transport crossing through the Kerch Strait.

Location: Republic of Crimea, Leninsky district

The design goal is to provide connectivity to the existing network railways Crimean peninsula with a bridge across the Kerch Strait. A section of the new railway line will run along the northeastern part of the peninsula, from the Kerch Strait to Bagerovo station. The designed approaches are a double-track railway line with a length of 17 kilometers with the possibility of subsequent electrification.

The project provides:

  • develop basic design solutions and technical and economic indicators for several route options, based on which, offer the Customer the most optimal option;
  • design a new railway line according to the option proposed and agreed by the Customer
  • design related engineering infrastructure facilities to ensure normal operation

With the transport system of mainland Russia through the Vyshesteblievskaya station. The double-track approach from the Taman Peninsula is formed from factory-produced sleeper-rail lashes up to 800 m long. They are laid in a line on a prepared elastic surface (a ballast layer of sand and crushed stone) and connected to each other. This was reported by the Information Center "". “The railway route to Crimea is being built using a continuous method. This is the so-called velvet track made of rail lashes. They are many times longer than the length of a standard 25-meter rail. The longer the rails, the fewer joints between them, the wheels of the trains passing through them characteristically knock. Along the velvet track, trains run smoothly and with almost no noise. Such a road is more reliable, more durable and more convenient to use,” said Vitaly BESHLIU, head of the project department of the Rostransmodernization Federal Institution. The modern railway infrastructure project on the Taman Peninsula is a steel highway with a linear length of almost 40 km - is being implemented as part of the development of transport and logistics capacities of the Azov-Black Sea basin and the creation of a new deep-water port. In 2014, the project also included a branch to the Crimean Bridge. Read: Construction and installation work is being carried out simultaneously along the entire length of the route.
