I love the river. Despite the fact that our Kherson region overlooks two seas at once (Black and Azov), I grew up on the river and love it. I remember my childhood, when my friends and I could spend several hours without a break jumping from a bridge with various tricks. The water is so warm that you don’t want to get out. The sun is hot, our lips are already blue, but we are swimming. This is how it went every summer. And I really fell in love with the river.

It tastes better and makes it easier to open your eyes under water. And the beauty is always changing: floodplains, trees growing on a steep bank, permanent boats, boats with different engines. Trips on our own catamaran (it was such a blessing that my grandfather received a catamaran from somewhere, and we rode on it throughout our childhood. Instead of two people, eight people were crammed onto the catamaran and we rode around the river). And our dacha was located in the erik (that is, a small “sleeve” of the river). All in all, love the river very much.

Walking along the Dnieper is a pleasure

I wanted to write this post for a long time. But, probably, the optimal time for it is February, when it’s cold outside, but it already smells like spring. And you want spring so much that you even write about warm days, a river and a walk.

Today I’ll tell you about one of the most river cities in Ukraine. Yes, yes, again about the Southern City of Kherson.

There are 19 rivers in our region. But the most important river is the Dnieper. Kherson - last city before flowing into the sea. In its delta, the Dnieper branches into many small tributaries, rivulets and shallow eriks.

We decided to take a ride along one of these tributaries. The weather was wonderfully sunny; the sun seemed to have agreed with the river to make our excursion even more interesting.

Summer holiday on the river is very beautiful

We got on the boat and went. Our driver is an old friend of my father, so we also got a discount.

We expected to just ride. But it turned out... But, by the way, I’ll tell you, you’ll understand everything yourself.

The boat ride is fun. Especially if you are not just driving somewhere quickly, but have the opportunity to stop and look around. In our case it was an excursion. So our driver just had to stop and tell us.

It is best to leave from the city embankment. You will see Kherson from the river. The central street of Ushakova goes down directly to the river from the railway station. And it looks very beautiful.

Kherson was built in 1778. After 16 years, a cannon was launched battleship"Glory to Catherine." So Kherson immediately became one of the centers of shipbuilding.

Tributaries

There is a lot of influx here. My eyes widen. We choose one and drive along it. The boat playfully picks up speed, the spray flies into different sides. You feel like the king of the river. Who sits on a boat and chooses the direction.

Dachas

There are a lot of dachas around. IN Soviet time They were distributed and built here, mainly by those who had the opportunity. That’s why the houses look well-groomed and cozy.

Lilies

These lilies are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.

They are also a very sensitive barometer. The lily opens exactly at 6 am and closes at 6 pm.

In size, such a lily can reach up to 25 cm in diameter. It's a lot.

Our bridge was built 5 years before the collapse Soviet Union. In 1985. This was a serious project, as far as I know, several designers refused to work. The bridge project was suspended several times. In total, construction lasted from 1977 to 1985, 8 years.

So we are driving back. I also saw about last ship on our excursion and the first one in the Black Sea Fleet. It's called "The Glory of Catherine".

The 60-gun ship was built in 1783, just 16 years after the founding of the Southern City of Kherson.
