It is under no circumstances recommended to visit the waterfall alone. This applies to those who came to these fertile and exotic places first. The point here is that some sections have an increased level of difficulty, and without the appropriate skills, hiking through them can be quite difficult.

This area is real paradise for ornithologists and nature lovers. They will receive genuine pleasure, although at the same time they will experience certain physical efforts. However, you can admire the waterfalls from the outside.

You need to take enough water and food with you. You can enjoy your meal on one of the plateaus, which offers a magnificent view of the canyon. You will also need sun and mosquito protection creams. Shoes should be durable, comfortable and comfortable. If you plan to go swimming, it is recommended to take towels and a change of clothes.

Journey through the cascade of seven waterfalls

To get to the very top of Tamarin Falls, you will need to go down a rather steep path. It goes through the bushes, and at times there are rocky areas. From the top there is a magnificent view of the canyon. There are almost 300 meters to its bottom, so those who are afraid of heights should not look down.

The height of the upper waterfall is 40 meters. The water crashes onto a wide rocky outcrop, which can be reached by a steep descent. The second waterfall is 7 meters high, and a steep path again leads to the next ledge. But some tourists prefer not to go down it, but jump into the waterfall, and its waters carry them to the third ledge. This option is considered the fastest, but it is not acceptable to everyone.

Once you reach the fifth ledge, you can go down in two ways. The first way is to do a five-meter jump in the water. And the second way is to go down the tree. The guides try to make the descent along the trunk as comfortable as possible. At the bottom of the fifth waterfall there is a cozy lagoon. You can swim in it, relax, and relieve stress.

From the crest of the seventh cascading stream of water, a stunning view of the lush green canyon opens up. Raising your head, you can see the edge of the top of the seven waterfalls and see how high the cascade is.

The height of the seventh waterfall is almost 60 meters. The water column first falls onto a small ledge and breaks into myriads of splashes that fall into the green-water mountain lake. There is a grotto right under the falling water. You can climb into it and admire the foaming water from the other side.

It seems that after all that has been said, Tamarin waterfalls will arouse keen interest among many. And trains to the island of Mauritius will become a cherished dream. Dreams always come true if you want it very much.

We decided not to delay with Tamarind, since in the rain and even for several days after it, until it dries out, no one will take Tamarind. And we understood why...

And since we had already seen what kind of rain there is in Mauritius, and when going to Mauritius we saw a forecast promising rain throughout our vacation, we couldn’t miss such a chance...

Evgeniy agreed on an early breakfast for us and at 8-00 a car came to pick us up. It’s not far from Flic en Flac to Mount Tamarind by car, less than an hour, but you shouldn’t even think about going there on your own.

The car climbed the mountain and drove through pretty settlements, planted with flowers, and ended up on the outskirts of one of them. A dark, lean aborigine was waiting for us there. More likely Indian. Who from birth had a cross on the bridge of his nose, and instead of a crucifix he wore a mounted monkey fang on a chain.

He gave us a bottle of water, then looked us over critically and took our things into his backpack.

Taking us to the edge of the cliff, he showed us all seven Tamarind Falls. They flowed down from top to bottom, forming an intermittent chain. Our path lay there.

During our run, I’m not afraid of this word, he showed plants familiar to him. He said that there were wild boars, deer and monkeys in the mountains, but we wouldn’t see them. The birds were singing somewhere very high on the tops of the trees and we didn’t see them either. Among the animals we saw one snail and several tiny, clothes moth-sized, butterflies of the order Blueberry))

Maybe we would have been able to spot something else if we had not rushed like crazy monkeys across rough terrain.

Our path to the waterfalls began from top to bottom. At first we went down, I won’t say that along a good road, this is not Costa Rica, where in almost all national parks the paths are paved with a special rubber coating, but along a fairly stable path.

Along the way we came across some very unexpected wildlife trees - jackfruit, mango trees... The guide said that mangoes ripen in January - February, now is not the season.

In Mauritius, it is generally unclear whether these are endemic species or invaders that have taken root and multiplied perfectly.

At the beginning of our journey, the nature around us was similar to the forests of Costa Rica, except for the complete absence of animals and birds.

There were also no flowering plants. Occasionally we came across exotic flowers of wild guava, which the locals use to prepare some sour sauces.

The guide pointed to the grass along the path and said that these were orchids that also bloom in January-February. There are 7 types of these orchids. It must be very beautiful there at this time.

Our guide, a perfectly rum-soaked grandfather (sometimes a rum woman, but this was a rum grandfather)) cheerfully ran ahead, carrying our things in a backpack. The path was no longer stable and then we simply galloped over moss-covered stones like mountain goats.

What they write that in order to complete this route requires minimal sports training is a disgusting lie! I would say that you have to be a strong endurance monkey to get to the end of the route. But people with various diseases, or simply leading a sofa lifestyle, have nothing to do there at all.

The route to the first waterfall was not easy. But these were still flowers...

We can also absolutely confirm that having a rum grandfather is mandatory. And if you can at least get to the first waterfall (if you go to all seven) along the markers left by your predecessors, then there is no path further as such, and you need to climb a guided path through bushes and boulders.

There was one nice place along the way, adjacent to a certain technical building, lost in the mountains, where we took several photos. But if you don’t look at it, it’s just an idyll.

But now, hot and tired from the hour-long run, we reached the first waterfall. Of course it was the end of the dry season, but it was quite a spectacle.

Waterfalls flow from top to bottom, from one to another. Over a long period of time, falling streams of water carved lakes, channels and depressions into the rock.

The lower waterfall was divided into two: one more powerful one fell from a higher cliff, the second was divided into several streams that flowed along another part of the rock.

In some places, the water broke through tiny pools, in which wild nymphs serenely flaunted...

The guide tore us away from all this beauty and drove us further, to the next waterfall. We climbed straight up the rock like mountain goats...

The path became more and more difficult. Finally we reached the next waterfall, which fell like a high wall into the lake. The waterfall itself was not stunningly beautiful, but we were allowed to swim in the lake. At another time, I would still think about whether I want... But, what could be better than swimming in the cool waters of a mountain lake after such a marathon? We were lucky that the weather was cloudy. Running all day in the mountains in the heat would be too much!

The pioneer and conqueror of the mountain lake was Evgeniy. He dived beautifully into the green waters from the rocky shore. He swam under the waterfall and splashed there like a walrus. The guide offered to capture Evgeniy's second jump into the water with his Canon. And so... the moment of truth was announced by the resounding impact of the carcass on the water. The guide closed his eyes! After which the diver grunted and turned over on his back and drifted to the shore.

Naturally, such a gain was reflected in the visual appearance of the skin. The entire front part of the body from the knees to the neck has become identical to boiled crayfish and is very prominent. It's good that it didn't become a bruise. Otherwise, such a tan is not in fashion anymore. I didn't hit the water, you fool...))

I quickly swam to the waterfall, splashed a little in the lake, after which the flip-flops that I had prudently took with me came in very handy. Because you can’t walk barefoot on sharp rocks, and when you come out of the water, you can’t get into sneakers with wet feet. But running in flip-flops in the mountains is out of the question.

When going to Tamarind, you must wear comfortable shoes that fit firmly on your feet. For example, sneakers.

After wonderful water procedures we scratched further. Running uphill has long taken its toll on my stunted body. I wanted to sit down on a pebble and immerse myself in the contemplation of beauty. But the vile guide drove us further and further...

The road from waterfall to waterfall became more and more difficult.

The third Tamarind waterfall was very beautiful and somewhat reminiscent of Thailand. The sun came out allowing us to take beautiful shots.

Only Evgeniy swam in the fourth waterfall. It was cloudy and I didn’t feel like splashing in the cold lake.

The fifth floor offered stunning views. It was worth the climb.

Now it was completely clear why no one goes to Tamarind in the rain. It’s difficult there even without rain, and going to the mountains on wet paths is simply dangerous.

We ran forward and forward. My snot about “leave me here” and “why did I get involved in this?” no one actually listened.

And so began the road to the most beautiful Tamarind waterfall - the seventh. It was mostly a trail along fairly vertical clay slopes. The guide ordered us to remove everything that could occupy our hands, since part of the way we climbed up or went down, clinging to bushes and vines growing nearby. It was especially joyful to grab the vines covered with thorns like a rose.

The vegetation changed along our route. And if at first there were powerful, tall trees, now we were surrounded by a palisade of thin trees, bushes, vines and huge rosettes, taller than a man’s height, of Mauritian hemp (Furcraea foetida / Mauritius Hemp). From the center of giant rosettes of leaves, powerful stems-peduncles rose upward. They had already bloomed and were scattering their miniature likenesses around. After flowering and fruiting, the furcrea dies. We were told that ropes for wrapping souvenirs are made from this plant.

The guide showed us ebonite or ebony wood. It looks like a tree. With light bark, but if you cut the bark, then black wood is visible underneath.

We frankly felt like shit and we rode with all our strength. And only our rum grandfather cheerfully trotted ahead. Shitty Energizer) He’ll run forward and watch us struggle)

And so we finally made it to the waterfall. It's amazing a nice place! From a high cliff, water falls onto a ledge and, breaking into billions of sparks, flies further to merge with the green water. mountain lake. This is truly the most beautiful of the seven Tamarind waterfalls.

Below the waterfall there is a grotto where you can go up and admire the falling water from the other side.

And everything would be fine if it were not for the invisible presence of man in this divine place. It feels like tourists from all over the world come here to mark the territory.

But how, you ask, do these countless tourists get there if the path to the waterfall is long and far? It turned out everything was simple to the point of banality. You can buy a tour only to this waterfall. Those. You can drive up to it in a civilized manner from the other side of the mountain, look at it, mark it, and set off back with a sense of accomplishment.

We admired the falling water, in the spray of which a rainbow sparkled, looked at the clumps of swifts hanging curiously from the arch of the grotto and went back to the lake. How else? It was simply impossible not to swim in such a beautiful place!

Just at this time, a number of tourists arrived, who plopped down from above, walked through the grotto and went down the path to the lake. Among them was a familiar couple of young Frenchmen, with whom we had just wandered around Pamplemousse. The Frenchwoman walked up to the lake, touched the water, widened her eyes, groaned, and after watching us cheerfully splash in the icy water, she plopped along the path further...

But that was not all. We climbed higher, so to speak, to the roots. It's a very beautiful place there. Water flows between boulders along a riverbed washed over centuries. And it is so transparent that in one of the recesses I saw a crayfish.

The banks of the river are overgrown with exotic traveler trees and giant furkreys. From the cliff down there was a stunning view of the waterfalls.

Now, we'll go back! - Evgeniy mocked joyfully. But we didn’t go back, but got out onto an inconspicuous path in the bushes and climbed up, where, thank God, a car was waiting for us, which took us directly to the hotel.
