How to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang: distance, public transport, tips for tourists. Koh Chang Island - from Pattaya-beaches-reviews-photos From Pattaya to Koh Chang

The island of Koh Chang does not have its own airport, but it is in great demand among tourists from the CIS countries. The distance between Pattaya and Koh Chang is about 260 kilometers. To get to the island you must first use by land transport, and then water. The most popular routes remain by bus, minibus or taxi. Each option has certain differences in cost, time, and comfort. Therefore, here you should rely solely on your financial capabilities and preferences.

As in many regions of Thailand, traveling by bus from Pattaya to Koh Chang is one of the cheapest travel options. But at the same time, it can cause some difficulties, since it requires several transplants. First you need to get to the bus station in Trat. To take a bus to the city of Trat, you need to get off the Sukhumvit highway at the place where it intersects with Central Street. The bus runs twice a day. The first time around 6 am, the second around 11:30.

Unfortunately, there is no bus station in Pattaya from where it departs. Since the bus is passing, you have to wait for it at a crossroads. The cost of the journey will be approximately 200 baht, and the time will be about 5 hours. Arriving in Trat, you need to change to a minibus that runs between the station and the Ao Thammachat pier.

The pier regularly runs a ferry to Koh Chang. The first flight departs at 6:30, the last at 19:00. The ferry sails across the sea for only half an hour, the cost of the crossing is 100 baht. It takes passengers to either Ao Sapparot or Center Point Pier.

Minibus

To get to Koh Chang, or more precisely to the pier on the mainland, from Pattaya by minibus it will take at least 3.5 hours. The organization of such trips involves: travel agencies and transport companies. They are the ones who sell tickets and provide cars. The big advantage of this method is that minibuses can pick you up right from the hotel, and you don’t need to think in advance about how to get to this or that place.

The journey will cost 300 baht (without ferry). This method is also not expensive, but it is much faster than traveling by bus. The first minibus leaves at 7 am, then at 9, 11 and 13 o'clock. When purchasing a ticket, you can also arrange for a car to take you directly to your hotel on Koh Chang. The cost of such a one-way trip will be approximately 550 baht. You can buy a ticket at any travel agency or at the office of 35 Group Pattaya, which is located on Pattaya Tai Street.

Taxi

The most comfortable way to travel to Koh Chang is by taxi. But at the same time, this is one of the most expensive options. Since you will have to pay from 3 to 5 thousand baht for the road to the pier. The trip will take 3-4 hours. You can catch a taxi right on the street; all the cars are usually bright in color. In this case, the cost of the trip must be agreed upon in advance. Don't be afraid to haggle, as the original price is often very high.

More convenient option— order a taxi online on the website. There is no need to negotiate anything here, since such companies usually have fixed rates, or they travel by meter. This ordering method is also convenient for those who do not speak English, since you will not communicate directly with the driver. Companies offer different machine options. If you are planning a trip with a large group, you can order a minivan, the cost of which will not differ much from a passenger car.

Piers

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that no matter what method of travel to Koh Chang you choose, almost all transport delivers its passengers to the piers from which the ferry departs for the island. The most popular pier is Ao Thammachat. Here ferries run every half hour, and you can cross even with a bike or car. Passengers disembark at the Ao Sapparot pier on Koh Chang. Travel time is 25 minutes.

The closest pier to Trat is the Center Point Pier, so most of tuk-tuks from the bus station or airport deliver passengers exactly here. Here, the interval between ferries is 1 hour, and the cost of a one-way trip is 80 baht. Children travel free of charge. There is also a crossing for cars and motorbikes. Passengers disembark at the pier of the same name on Koh Chang island.

First you must decide for what purpose you are going to the island. If you just want to get acquainted with it, relax for 2-3 nights from noisy Pattaya, and then return back, then it might make sense to just buy a tour. It includes transfer and accommodation, i.e. solves the most important issues. But if you went on your own, you would spend the entire first day searching for suitable accommodation.

Those who are going to stay on the island for more long time, it’s better to get there on your own, and then we’ll tell you how to do it.

Important information for independent trip from Pattaya:

  • distance from Pattaya to Koh Chang (to Ao Thammachat pier on the mainland) - 250 km;
  • how long does it take to get to Koh Chang from Pattaya by minivan - about 5 hours (4 hours to the pier);
  • ferries operate from 06:30 to 19:00;
  • The ferry fare for a passenger is 100 baht.

Bus from Pattaya to Koh Chang

There are no direct buses between the resorts and never have been: so that you come to the bus station, buy a ticket and go. You can only get there by buses that pass through Pattaya along the Sukhumvit Highway. There are very few of them during the day, moreover, they may simply not notice you among the traffic and not stop. There is no exact schedule either. Usually we pass Pattaya at about 11:30. The ticket costs about 200 baht.

In fact, no one travels this way and we do not recommend it to you. It takes longer than all the others, and it’s not a fact that you’ll leave.

If you are planning to go somewhere by bus in Thailand, then.

Minivan from Pattaya to Koh Chang

There are no minibus stops at the resort either; everyone orders a transfer through street travel agencies, which are at every turn in Pattaya. This must be done the day before the trip; it is advisable to go in the very morning, and not in the late afternoon, in order to be guaranteed to buy a ticket.

The price of a ticket from Pattaya to Koh Chang includes transfer from your hotel to Ao Thammachat Pier and almost always a ferry ticket. Many companies also offer transportation to your hotel on the island.

Minibus can be ordered from many transport agencies, but we will recommend only two, where the most low prices and whose services we have used more than once.

The first one is called 35 Group Pattaya. Located on Third Street, approximately 50-70 meters from its intersection with South.

Only in this office you can buy a ticket at the lowest price. We saw a VKontakte group with the same name, but these are just intermediaries (Russian, by the way), their prices are noticeably higher.

If you come to the office on Third Street, the ticket prices will be as follows (all include transfer from your hotel in Pattaya):

  • One way to Ao Thammachat Pier - 400 baht (includes ferry ticket).
  • Round trip to Ao Thammachat Pier - 720 baht including ferry.
  • From Pattaya hotel to the hotel on Koh Chang - 550 baht one way and 1050 baht round trip.

Usually minibuses depart twice a day - at 7 a.m. and at 9 a.m. In the low season, sometimes the flight at 9 a.m. is canceled. And in the high season, a flight at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. can be added. All this will be told to you at the office.

In addition, with the company 35 Group Pattaya you can get to the island. This is very convenient if, for example, you want to go to Samet first and then to Koh Chang or vice versa. Tickets to these islands (including a return ticket to Pattaya) can be purchased at one office.

Tickets are sold with an open date that is valid for a month. The day before your return, you need to call the company by phone and notify it. However, they will tell you all this in detail when purchasing tickets.

We recommend buying a ticket with transfer to your hotel on Koh Chang, even if you are traveling light or have not yet decided where to stay. In the latter case, just name the beach and you will be dropped off in its central part. We recommend a transfer to the hotel (or to the beach), because... learned from our own experience the problems with searching self-transfer at the Koh Chang pier.

Yes, when disembarking from the ferry there are guards who go to the beaches. But nowadays almost everyone takes the included transfer to the hotel and the songthaews are empty. Drivers refuse to drive if there are only 3-4 people in the car. Therefore, you often have to wait for the next ferry, or maybe two, to arrive. The author of the article thus sat on the Koh Chang pier for more than an hour before there were a dozen passengers and the songthaew traveled at a fixed rate. Of course, at the very beginning the driver offered to rent his car as a taxi for 300-400 baht. If there are 5-6 people, then each person will be charged 100 baht, despite the fact that the fare to the nearest White Sand beach costs 50 baht. In general, it’s cheaper to take a transfer to the hotel in Pattaya, and in this case you’ll get to your place faster.

The total travel time from Pattaya to the hotel on Koh Chang is 5 hours (3.5-4 hours to the pier, waiting for the ferry, 30 minutes on the ferry, 15-40 minutes from the pier to the hotel).

There is also a second transport company with low prices - Burapha Bus. The office is located next to the Sukhumvit Highway (on Soi Sukhumvit 51), opposite the one-story Tesco Lotus. We have shown the exact location on the map below.

They send minivans to Koh Chang, Trat, Rayong and Chanthaburi. A ticket to Koh Chang costs 500 baht and includes the ferry and transfer to your hotel on the island. But they don’t pick you up from your Pattaya hotel; you have to get to their office on your own. This company is more suitable for those who live in the Central Street area or close to the Sukhumvit Highway.

You can also do it yourself

Hello friends. Today I will tell you how to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang on your own. A few words about Pattaya. This is a big, noisy city with thousands of tourists scurrying around. We don’t understand how you can relax in this city, but this is our opinion.

We specifically stopped by to see what was wrong and realized that we didn’t want to relax here at all. But the shopping here is good.

After such bustle and noise, many tourists begin to dream of silence, clean beaches with clear water and more relaxing activities. Then you can go to the island of Koh Chang, which is located 270 km from Pattaya.

We only had two days for sightseeing and shopping. Next - planned on the island of Koh Chang. If you also want to change the noisy city to sunny island and leave Pattaya, now I will tell you how to do it.

Transfer from Pattaya to Koh Chang

The distance from Pattaya to Koh Chang is 270 km - the drive takes about 4 hours, so this option is the most convenient and comfortable, although not the most budget-friendly. I think many will agree with me that it is better to pay an extra 100 rubles and travel in comfort than to save money and spend extra time on the road. It's better to lie on the beach for an extra hour.

A transfer to Koh Chang (the Thais call it a tour) can be found anywhere in Pattaya. You will find offices with offers on the streets of the city and in hotels. A comfortable minibus will pick you up from the hotel and take you to your desired location. Along the way, the minibus makes several stops where you can have a snack and stretch your legs. Travel time is about 4 hours. The most famous tour company Pattaya-Koh Chang-Pattaya 35 Group Pattaya.

There are several transfer options to Koh Chang (prices per person). Prices and schedule taken from 35 Group Pattaya. Other companies have about the same prices:

1. Pattaya - Ferry Pier to = Koh Chang (ferry included in price) one way = 400 baht
2. Pattaya - Ferry Pier to Koh Chang (ferry included in price) round trip = 720 baht
3. Pattaya – hotel on Koh Chang (ferry included in price) one way = 550 baht
4. Pattaya – hotel on Koh Chang (ferry included in price) round trip = 1050 baht

Minibuses to Koh Chang run 3 times a day at 07:00 and 09:00 in the morning and at 13:00. From Koh Chang to Pattaya at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00.

There are transfer options that only take you to the mainland pier. In this case, you will then need to buy a ferry ticket yourself and take a songthaew (local taxi) on the island at the pier, which will take you to the beach and hotel for an additional fee. Read more about piers on Koh Chang and prices for songthaew. Read about the beaches of Koh Chang.

I recommend buying tickets in both directions at once. This will save some money and time. If you are not sure about the return date, you can buy a return ticket with an open date. When you know exactly the day of departure, call the office (at least two days in advance) where you bought the ticket and tell the date of your return trip. They will reserve a seat for you in the minibus. They don’t speak Russian in the office, so this option is for those who know English language (at the most basic level).

Friends, we are now on Telegram: our channel about Europe, our channel about Asia. Welcome)

Taxi Pattaya Koh Chang

The option is not a budget option, but the most expensive possible and the fastest in terms of time. If comfort comes first for you, then this is your option. The cost of the trip will be approximately 3000 baht. But this is only up to the pier on the mainland. Travel time is 3.5-4 hours.

Transfer to Koh Chang

This option is cheaper than a taxi.

You can order a transfer to Koh Chang by: this link or online using the form below. At the time of booking you need to pay about 15% of the transfer cost, the rest of the amount is paid in cash to the driver.

How to save money on a taxi? Payment is per car, not per person, so if there are 3-4 of you or more people in the car, then the cost of the transfer is distributed among everyone and becomes pleasant.

Bus to Koh Chang

Most a budget option, but less comfortable. You can take a bus from Pattaya to Koh Chang. The route of this bus passes along the Sukhumvit highway.

What's the inconvenience?. The bus runs only once a day (from). He arrives in Pattaya at approximately 6 am; to the stop where the Sukhumvit highway intersects with the city's Central Street.

Best case scenario: the bus will drop you off at the pier.

Other options:

  • will drop you off on the highway near the pier (you will need to take a songthaew to the pier)
  • will take you to the Trat bus station (you will need to take a songthaew to the pier).

The price of a bus ticket will be 2 times cheaper than the cost of a transfer (approximately 170 baht). But, besides this, you will need to pay separately for songthaew.

From the highway to the pier 30-40 baht

From Trat bus station to the pier 70-80 baht

Add the ferry fare: 90 baht, plus songthaew from Koh Chang pier to the beach (from 50 baht).

The total will be at least 400 baht per person.

Of course, in this case you will be able to get acquainted with how the local people live, how they interact and communicate with each other, how their bus stations are arranged and landscaped.

Of these methods, we chose 1 - we booked a transfer through a travel agency, deciding that it was better to spend 400-500 baht but get to the island comfortably.

Where to stay in Pattaya

There are now many housing options in Pattaya and they have appeared on the service AirBnb. We have written how to use this service. If you do not find a free hotel room, then look for accommodation through this booking site.

Where to go from Pattaya if Koh Samet is boring or seems too small? Let's go to Koh Chang!

How long does it take to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang?

The distance from Pattaya to Koh Chang is 250–270 km, depending on the chosen route. As a rule, everyone first travels along the “Seven” (Route No. 7), then exits at 36 and beyond Rayong along Sukhumvit (Route No. 3). But big buses travel all the time around Sukhumvit. With all the consequences.

In general, this distance is not to Koh Chang itself, but to the Laem Ngop pier in Trat province, from where ferries run to Koh Chang. Driving to the pier from Pattaya takes 4.5–6 hours. The ferry ride takes 30-60 minutes. The drive to the hotel on the island is 15-30 minutes, depending on where you are staying.

How and what to get from Pattaya to the pier on Koh Chang?

By car

The most convenient option, of course, is to own/rented car or taxi. Taxi prices to Koh Chang from Pattaya can be found, for example, at KiwiTaxi:

Works in Asia in general and Thailand in particular Grab Taxi. You can install the application and order a taxi online immediately before your trip.

By transfer (minivan)

Usually I prefer not to use transfers, but always opt for regular public transport, but in the case of Koh Chang, it is much more convenient to choose companies that offer transfers from Pattaya to Koh Chang.

The best thing about this transfer is that minibuses of some companies (for example, Burapa and 35 Group) sail along with passengers on the ferry, and then take everyone to the selected hotels and guest houses. Those. Upon arrival in Koh Chang, you don’t need to look for how to get to your accommodation.

By the way, the buses of Burapa (behind) and 35 Group (in front) are sailing on the ferry to Koh Chang.

BUT not all companies deliver to the hotel on the island. Some sell transfers that only include travel to the pier and ferry crossing. Be sure to check when purchasing.

The most convenient transfer from Pattaya to Koh Chang offers 35 Group. The ticket price (550-600 baht one way, 1100 both ways) includes everything, including pickup at the hotel in Pattaya and delivery to the hotel in Koh Chang.

By public transport (big bus)

This is an inconvenient option, believe me, a desperate enthusiast to travel on large buses throughout Thailand. Why?

Bus to Trat in Pattaya - passing from Bangkok. You can catch it in the morning on Sukhumvit at the intersection with North, Central, South, Thepprasit around 6, 7 and 8 o'clock (there are several buses). They drive slowly and make a lot of stops. Traveling to Trat can take around 6-8 hours from Pattaya. The cost is around 280 baht.

At Trat bus station you need to take a songthaew to the pier in Laem Ngop, which takes about 40 minutes to an hour (80 baht).

Finally, at the pier you board the ferry and sail with everyone else to the Ao Sapparot (Pineapple) pier on Koh Chang.

Transfer options and just a trip by minibus can be found here:

If you are still in favor of a big bus, then take a look;
read how;
etc.

By public transport (minibus)

Quite a working option. In Pattaya, minibuses to the pier on Koh Chang depart, for example, from Thepprasit Street, on the left side, 50 m before reaching Sukhumvit. This minibus also stops at the pier in Ban Phe, from where you can get to Samet, and eventually reaches Trat (Lam Ngop). Cost – 250-300 baht. It doesn't go super fast, so you'll have to spend about 5-6 hours for sure.

At the pier, a ferry ticket can be purchased separately.

And now about the ferry

Where do ferries go to Koh Chang?

There are several piers in Laem Ngop, but the most convenient is Thammachat Pier (Ao Thammachart).

Another option is Centerpoint Ferry, whose pier is located literally 10 km east of the pier at Ao Thammachat.

What ferries go to Koh Chang?

They go to Chang large car ferries, which is why, in my personal rating of destinations, Koh Chang, if it doesn’t compete with Samet, then definitely wins over Koh Kuda: I like that you can drive to the island in your own car and not bother with backpacks, boats and tuk-tuks.

Cars drive onto the ferry on the mainland.

But the car ferry at the Ao Sapparot pier on Koh Chang is waiting to load.

And it loads.

While our ferry from the mainland is sailing:

How often do ferries go to Koh Chang?

Ao Thammachat
Ferries operate depending on how busy they are. Usually - about once every 45 minutes, on holidays - every half hour.

The first ferry from the mainland leaves at 6.30, the last at 19.00 (don't be late!). On holidays there are additional ferries after 19.00, but no one will tell you in advance whether they will be there or not.

Keep in mind that if you are going to cross by car, it is not always possible to get on the nearest ferry; sometimes you have to wait in line for half an hour to two hours. For example, we were lucky this time: at the last moment we built our car sideways, sideways:

Queue for the ferry on the mainland:

Without a car they always let you board the nearest ferry.

The upper (passenger) deck of a ferry. There is even a stall with various snacks and a quite decent toilet.

The pier at Ao Thammachat is the more popular of the two. Minibuses and transfers from Bangkok, Pattaya, and Trat airport go here.

Centerpoint
The first ferry leaves at 6 a.m., the last at 7:30 p.m. Interval – one hour; between the penultimate (18.00) and last (19.30) ferries – an hour and a half. In the opposite direction (from Koh Chang) the schedule is the same. BUT in the low season, as a rule, ferries are canceled in the afternoon around 14.00–15.00.

What's so great about the Centerpoint Ferry? He offers discounts for club members. A one-way ticket with a club card costs 50 baht. So, it makes sense for residents and winterers who plan to periodically travel to the mainland and back to purchase a club card (for free).

If you are lucky with the weather, the pictures on the way to the island will be picturesque.

How much does a ferry ticket to Koh Chang cost?

Ao Thammachat
80 baht adult
30 baht child from 8 to 10 years old
children under 7 years old free

120 baht car
80 baht motorcycle or large scooter
regular scooter - 40 baht.

Centerpoint
80 baht adult
40 baht child from 7 to 12 years old
children under 7 years old free

100 baht car
60 baht motorcycle or large scooter
regular scooter – 30 baht.

Travel time by ferry

Ferries from Ao Thammachat – 30-45 minutes, Centerpoint Ferry – up to an hour. The Centerpoint ferries are smaller than the Ao Thammachat ferries.

Where do ferries go to on Chang?

Ferries from Thammachat Pier sail to Ao Sapparot .

Centerpoint ferries sail on own pier, which is located just east of Sapparot Pier.

How to get from the pier on Chang to the hotel?

Use the transfer and you won’t have this headache.

In fact, everything is quite simple and obvious. Ferries at Ao Sapparot meet songthaews who travel along the island ring road and can disembark at the desired hotel. Theoretically, the cost of travel depends on the distance of the point from the pier, although depending on your luck. Getting from the pier to Bangbao costs 150 baht, but it’s not a fact that they will take you to Kai Be or Khlong Prao for less - although I personally went at official prices to Kai Be for 80 baht. Island taxi mafia, ce la vie.

If the hotel is located far from the road, such scheduled songthaews will not take you there. An alternative is to take a Songthaew taxi from the pier, which will take you to your address. More expensive, but more convenient.

How to get around on Koh Chang?

Of course, as everywhere else in tourist spots in Thailand, on Koh Chang they will be happy to rent you bike for rent. And again, of course, this is a very convenient way to get around the island. The island is large, and if you want to see something else, and not just the beach at the hotel (if there is one at all), then a bike is the ideal solution. The asking price is 300-400 baht per day.

However, I strongly I DO NOT RECOMMEND rent a bike if your driving experience is limited. The roads on Koh Chang, although good, are very steep in places. In the evenings outside the villages are completely unlit. After the rain they are damp and slippery. In general - DANGEROUS. Assess your capabilities wisely. If you already take a bike, do not neglect the helmet.

Another moving option is in songthaew. Songtae, of course, prefer to work as a taxi, but you can also catch a regular one. A trip between neighboring beaches (for example, from Sa Khao to Khlong Phrao or from Khlong Phrao to Kai Beh) should cost 50 baht. The most expensive way to travel from anywhere is to Khlong Koi (100-200 baht).

Bonus

The most useful resource on Koh Chang.
You will find taxi prices, hiking routes, restaurant recommendations, etc. The resource is run by a local expat. I recommend.

In general, Koh Chang is wonderful! Enjoy your holiday!

I recently posted detailed description Moreover, now I want to write separately about the transfer from Pattaya. If you haven’t read the link above, let me remind you that Koh Chang is an island, so you first need to travel to it by land, then take a ferry, and on the island itself follow the route to the desired beach. What Pattaya has over Bangkok is that it has plenty of transfers to Koh Chang.

There are 3 ways to get to Koh Chang from Pattaya: by transfer, by bus or by taxi. For reference, the distance between Pattaya and Koh Chang is about 270 km.

How to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang comfortably

Group transfer by minibus

This method is the simplest and most convenient for those without a car. And to be honest, I wouldn’t even consider others; I don’t see much point in saving an extra 100 rubles. So, what is good about a transfer? It is also sometimes called a tour, like the Pattaya - Koh Chang tour. The good thing about it is that they will take you from hotel to hotel, that is, from a hotel in Pattaya to a hotel in Koh Chang. Moreover, you can immediately buy a return ticket, and this will really be a tour. The transfer can be purchased at any travel agency. The price tag you will be offered is 600-900 baht one way, including a ferry ticket.

As a rule, all local travel agencies sell the services of several transport companies, so there is not much difference where to buy. You can also buy it online, and the same thing will happen.

Payment by bank card or PayPal, electronic ticket, very convenient.

One of the companies, 35 Pattaya Group

The lowest price tag is offered by 35 Group Pattaya. I indicated their office on the map; it is located on Pattaya Tai Street (South Pattaya). The only thing is that for this you will need to go to their office; intermediaries will sell their tickets more expensive.

The minibus will cost 400 baht, including a one-way ferry ticket to Koh Chang Ferry Pier. A ticket to the hotel on Koh Chang costs 550 baht one way, including a ferry ticket.
The minibus runs 3 times a day: 7:00, 9:00, 13:00.
Travel time is 3-4 hours to the pier, and then what happens with the ferry.

You need to buy tickets in advance, at least a day in advance, otherwise there may not be seats. You can also go to other places with 35 Group Pattaya. In addition, Koh Chang is taken to Samet, Koh Wai, Koh Mak and Koh Kood.

If you are later going to return to Pattaya from Chang, then buy a return ticket immediately, it has an open date (you will need to notify about two days before your return), because there is no 35 Group Pattaya office on Koh Chang, it is located near the pier Koh Chang Ferry Pier is on the mainland, and it’s not a fact that there will be places. Accordingly, if you do not buy a return ticket in advance, you will have to buy transfers on the island from local travel agencies for more high price.

Prices for transfer Pattaya— Koh Chang and back

Taxi Pattaya - Koh Chang

The most expensive option. I think everyone knows how to take a taxi and there is no need to explain anything. Go outside and look for the car. As an option, order an individual transfer from any travel agency. The cost is somewhere around 3000-4000 baht per car if you go to the pier. Travel time is 3-4 hours.

Another taxi option is - (ferry included) which can be booked in advance online. The car will be entirely yours, without other passengers. It’s convenient that there are no hassles, you don’t even need to leave the house. In terms of price, this is especially beneficial if there are more than 4 people. Then the amount will be divided among everyone. It costs the same as a taxi caught on the street.

Car rental

My favorite option. Lately I always take my car everywhere. You don’t depend on anything, complete freedom. Considering that car rental in Thailand is inexpensive, it is available to everyone.

You need to rent through brokers and through them it is 2 times cheaper than directly. This is a life hack. I have booked through both of them multiple times and everything has been great. All cars will be only from trusted international rental companies, with insurance, contracts, no problems or scams.

Although the roads on Koh Chang are narrow in some places, it is quite convenient to drive a small car, such as a Honda Jazz or Toyota Vios. I drove all over the island for 2 weeks and no problems.

Bus Pattaya - Koh Chang

The most budget-friendly method is more complex and is not suitable for everyone. Its essence boils down to the fact that you need to take a bus from Pattaya to the bus station in Trat, change there to a minibus going to the pier, then take a ferry and swim to the island, at the island pier, take a minibus and get to the desired beach.

I have already written in a general article how to get from Trat to the pier and how to get around on Koh Chang island. And I described everything about ferries in the article. So all that remains is to tell you how to get to Trat from Pattaya.

You need to get onto the Sukhumvit highway at the intersection with Central Street and catch a bus there. It is advisable to ask the locals who sit in the offices of bus companies or motor bike companies, where is the best place to do this and when the bus will arrive. They will help stop him. There is no bus station from where it comes, it runs a couple of times a day, around 6:00 and around 11:30. He is a regular driver and picks up everyone along the way. Travel time is 5 hours, ticket price is about 180 baht.

Also, on this bus you don’t have to get to Trat and get off along the road. There is a desk there on the highway from which minibuses go to the pier. But IMHO it will be difficult for beginners to pull this off.

Life hack #1 - how to buy good insurance

Choosing insurance now is incredibly difficult, so to help all travelers. To do this, I constantly monitor forums, study insurance contracts and use insurance myself.
