What to take for car camping at sea. What you need to take with you on a camping trip - a complete list of things. Why go to the sea with a tent

It's decided! You are going on a trip to the USA. Tickets have been purchased, the route has been drawn up, accommodation in the cities has been booked and you understand that, for example, you want to stay overnight in campsites in national parks. What do you need to take with you to be prepared for camping conditions?

I’ll note right away, since we are talking about camping in connection with traveling around the USA, then the set of things will be slightly different from a classic hiking trip. Why? Yes, if only because you will transport things from place to place by car, which means that there can be much more of them than if you had to carry them everywhere on yourself. You know, with thirty kilograms on your back there is no time for romance and landscapes))

So, let's move from words to action and make list of essential things(checklist) that you will need in a tent camp and on a hike. Plus I’ll show you what we took.

Essentials

  • Tent

The choice of tents these days is huge and sometimes it’s very difficult to decide which one you need. In my opinion, the main thing is that it is waterproof. It’s even better if it’s two-layer: mesh + cape. Such a tent is better ventilated and protects from condensation.

Size, in fact, does not matter if you are going to transport things everywhere by car and do not plan to go on a long-term trip. hiking when you have to carry the equipment yourself. In this case, you can not waste time on trifles and take a larger tent. Experience has shown that this is more convenient than being crammed into a small room.

For example, we bought a three-person tent before the trip Coleman Hooligan. When we assembled it for the first time, back at home, it seemed huge. I thought that everyone in the campsites would laugh at us, so small with such a big tent. It turned out that the people did not limit themselves at all, sometimes erecting entire tent palaces. In a large tent it is more convenient to change clothes, have breakfast or dinner in bad weather, and simply more relaxed.

Over the entire two months, our tent did not let us down even once, withstanding both rain and wind.

Tent price: 90 dollars.

Getting to know the equipment

If you bought a new tent, and even more so if this is your first tent in your life, practice assembling it in advance so as not to suffer later somewhere in the park, and even in the dark. For example, once Andryusiks and I watched as four guys assembled a freshly unpacked tent for more than an hour, although there was only 10-15 minutes worth of work there.

  • Sleeping bag

Choosing a sleeping bag is easier than choosing a tent. The main thing is not to freeze. As it turns out, some national parks get very, very cold at night. For example, in Yosemite in July the temperature dropped to +3 in the morning. So it’s better to choose a sleeping bag based on the extreme temperature you expect to encounter.

We bought the simplest sleeping bags from the same company Coleman and survived all the American “frosts” with them, although sometimes we slept in pants, fleece and woolen socks))

Sleeping bags price: 30 and 35 dollars (except for the color they were no different).

  • Rug

A rug (some also call it “foam”) is a necessary and useful thing, because it helps smooth out all the roughness of pebbles, twigs and lumps digging into your back, plus you can sleep on it much warmer than without it. If you roll up its upper part into a roll, you can easily do without a pillow.

We also took the simplest rugs.

Rug price: 12 dollars.

  • Headrest/inflatable pillow

You can take it, you can not take it, it depends on your desire. As I wrote above, you can get by with a rug; instead of a pillow, you can use, for example, a jacket, fleece, shirt, or towel.

We used improvised means.

  • Backpack

If you are going to go on short hikes or just walk a lot, you can’t do without a backpack. I don’t mean big backpacks for everything, all things, they can travel with you in suitcases and in anything else. We are talking about small backpacks that are convenient to take with you on radial excursions, so as not to carry food, water, sunscreen, a camera in your hands when it is not needed, etc. Andryusiks and I each had a personal backpack.

This is a set of things that everyone planning to stay at campsites will definitely need. Next I will list equally necessary accessories, but their set may vary depending on personal wishes and preferences.

Kitchenware and supplies

One way or another, you will have to cook. Going somewhere every time for breakfast and dinner, spending precious time on this, as for me, is not very convenient. If it’s a day or two, then it’s still possible, but if you spend the night in campsites all the time, then it’s more convenient not to depend on all sorts of cafes and restaurants. And what is the point of camping then? It’s so romantic to wake up, wash your face, immediately, without leaving the tent, have breakfast and go off to experience impressions. So, what will you need?

It’s better to buy in advance and in stock at some supermarkets like Walmart, Safeway, etc. Why? Then, what is adjacent to national parks In small towns, small shops are unlikely to please with their prices. Almost all of them live off tourists and take advantage of this to the fullest.

  • Water

There should always be a supply of water; there is never too much of it. We used both the water we collected in the parks (it is clean and suitable for drinking and cooking) and bottled water. If you are worried about park water, you can use special cleaning products, but it seems to me that in this case it is easier to buy water in a store. We carried one large spare canister with us and constantly bought packages with small half-liter bottles (they are convenient to use and can always be thrown into a small backpack).

  • Plate or gas-burner

Are you going to cook yourself? You will have to purchase a compact gas stove or burner. Yes, all organized campsites have a fire pit and a grill on which you can cook, but lighting a fire every time you just want to boil water or quickly cook pasta is, to say the least, inconvenient.

We bought a gas burner, or rather two. At first we bought a small one, but it turned out that it was not the most convenient, because the flame “hits exactly the target”, with a small spot in the center of the pan, without heating the bottom evenly. Later we purchased a large burner, which turned out to be too big for our saucepans)) We still haven’t found our ideal option.

For the burners you will need gas cylinders with a mixture of butane and propane. It is better to buy immediately with a reserve, because in some places they were not found in stores. We bought mostly from Walmart.

Prices: small burner - $11, large burner - $8, small gas can - $5, large - $10.

  • GPS And car navigator

GPS is a faithful assistant on any journey. We have been using the Garmin Oregon 450 navigator for many years now and cannot imagine how we can navigate without it. It is thanks to this faithful friend that we can go anywhere and not be afraid of getting lost. We use it when traveling on foot.

For comfortable driving, it is advisable to have a car navigator with a large screen; otherwise, driving in a foreign country will be difficult. If you rent a car at a rental office, then most likely a navigator will be included with it.

  • Compass

We didn’t take a compass because it wasn’t necessary, but if you are going to go to some distant places and are not equipped with a navigator, take it. Will it come in handy? For example, in Death Valley there are not many trees, especially with moss, by which you can determine the cardinal directions))

  • Guide

A guidebook is a good and useful thing not only when preparing for a trip, but during it. You can always look up technical information: how to get there, work schedule, where to stay overnight, etc. As usual, one of the the best guides - Lonely Planet. This and other Russian-language guides can be purchased, for example, or.

First aid supplies

  • First aid kit

It is not necessary to take with you on hikes a full set of medications with sleeping pills and anti-motion sickness drugs, but it is better to always have hydrogen peroxide, bandages and something painkiller on hand, that is, at the bottom of a small backpack. Who knows? “Fell, woke up, cast…”

It’s also better to take a band-aid, especially if you bought new sandals or sneakers before the trip.

I also have a raincoat in the photo. And what? Quite a first aid remedy for rain))

A first aid kit is a first aid kit, but before the trip it won’t hurt to take out travel insurance, you never know. Medicines and medical services in the States are wow, so expensive, it’s better not to save a few thousand rubles.

You can select insurance using this convenient form:

Protective means

  • Sunscreen/spray

Used creams Banana Boat, brought from Mexico, then bought a spray of the same name in the States for 8 bucks. By the way, it protects well from the sun and is pleasant to use.

  • Repellent for mosquitoes and other midges

Mosquitoes hardly bothered us, with rare exceptions. The spray was used a couple of times at most.

  • Sunglasses

Even if you don’t like this accessory, it’s better to wear it, because glasses protect your eyes not only from the sun, but also from dust. In any supermarket you can buy passable glasses for 10-20 dollars.

  • Lip balm

Even Andryusiks used my lip balm, because when you walk all day under the scorching rays of the sun, your lips, like your skin, burn without protection. The most unpleasant feeling!

  • Hat/Panama/Bandana

It’s generally better not to stick your head out in parks without a hat. Getting heatstroke couldn't be easier!

I note that in some parks, the souvenir shops sell the cutest hats (for about $30). I just bought one of these at the Visitor Center of Dead Horse Park.

Additional useful things

  • Personal items(everyone will figure this out for themselves, just like with clothes)

Most importantly, don’t forget warm clothes: if possible, bring not only a sweater/fleece, but also a light jacket. Warm socks will also be very useful. It can be very cold in the mornings and evenings (Yosemite, Bryce Canyon, Sequoia).

  • Towel
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Toilet paper
  • Personal hygiene items

All sorts of wet wipes and antibacterial liquids will come in handy, because, firstly, not all campsites have water, and secondly, these things are convenient to use directly on a hike.

Thanks for the info. And this is my list for savage holidays or camping
When I go to wild journey, I always make a list of items I need along the way. Especially if the trip is supposed to be a savage trip, that is, recreation in nature. I hope that the information below will help someone, and someone, on the contrary, will advise what else you can take with you to feel comfortable on the road.
Tent and pavilion for relaxing on a hot day. I recommend making holes in the roof and putting round (hollow) rivets. With this approach, water will not accumulate on the roof and the pavilion will not simply fall. I had such a problem. If a pavilion is an expensive thing for you, you can simply purchase a tension so-called “sail”. It can serve as an excellent shade canopy for a tent.
I also always take tent stretchers and cuffs. They are made of luminescent fabric, about 15 centimeters long. You need these cuffs to attach to the stakes so that you don’t trip over the guy wires. It is also worth taking a complete set for setting up a tent, including: stakes, a hammer, and a hook with pliers (to remove the pegs).
Accessories:
Folding table (small);
Tripod stools;
Folding chairs;
A prefabricated small cabinet in a tent (you can store dishes or clothes);
Two bedding for the tent (one is 3x4, and the second is 2x3, in the vestibule, if the tent is large enough), it is advisable to take another bedding for the table, which will be placed outside the tent.
Attributes for cooking:
I have an induction stove; I always take it if I know that the campsite where I’m going will be equipped with electricity. Let me tell you this – this is the most indispensable thing for camping. It is practical and fireproof, since it does not heat up itself, but only heats the bottom of the cooking utensil.
Sometimes I also take a gas stove or burner (if there is no electricity). First, at home I make a kind of screen out of cardboard. I definitely put foil on it. With this approach, the wind will not take heat from the bottom of the saucepan. As a result, gas is saved significantly, and the flame does not blow out.
Additionally I take:
— boiler (electric);
- teapot;
— mini-fridge, they connect either to the network or to the cigarette lighter (a great thing, I would say – irreplaceable);
— plastic containers for food products;
- gas lighter, large, pre-charged to capacity;
— cartouches (spare for tiles and lamps);
- utensils for cooking, cups, bowls (metal);
— I love coffee very much, so Turkish coffee is always with me when traveling;
— knives and cutting board;
— glasses and shot glasses are disposable;
— filters and a funnel for brewing a coffee drink;
— towels, sponge, dishwashing liquid.
Among the accompanying attributes of a savage tourist, I always have:
1. Tablecloth for a table for eating;
2. A plastic box for storing dishes, it is convenient to wash in it;
3. Foil (food grade, aluminum);
4. Cling film, it is very convenient to wrap food in it;
5. Disposable bags made of polyethylene;
6. Flask for drinking water;
7. Toilet paper;
8. Repellents (remedies for annoying and dangerous mosquitoes);
9. Needle and thread and scissors;
10. Metal hooks for clothes in the tent;
11. First aid kit (painkillers, first aid, including bandage, cotton wool, adhesive plaster, etc.);
12. Hats.
Electronic accessories:
Phone, camera, camera, laptop, etc. with batteries charged the day before;
Adapters and chips;
Headset;
GPS – navigator with pre-planned routes;
Electricity converter from 12 to 220 volts;
A tee for the cigarette lighter connector is an excellent helper when you need to connect several devices at the same time, for example, a refrigerator and a charger;
Devices for charging gadgets, cameras, players;
Radio.
To provide myself with lighting I take:
1. Adapter (plug) is a special device for connecting electricity at a campsite;
2. Cables, two pieces (ten meters long);
3. Additionally, a cable in the form of a tee with 6 sockets;
4. Batteries for lighting devices;
5. An electric lamp with a sufficiently long cord;
6. Rechargeable LED lamp.
Attributes for rest and sleep:
Air mattresses or folding bed;
Fitted sheets;
Sleeping bags;
Blankets;
Pillows with pillowcases;
Set of towels;
Earplugs are sometimes a real salvation;
Umbrella (beach);
Beach towels;
Fins, mask and other accessories water procedures;
Fan;
Binoculars.
Household items:
1. Paper towels (at least three rolls);
2. Twine and clothespins, 10 pieces;
3. Shoe polish;
4. Wide tape;
5. A cover for the car so that the car does not get so hot under the scorching sun - with a shiny surface;
6. Ordinary laundry soap not only removes various stains, even difficult to remove ones, but also disinfects wounds and abrasions;
7. In the car's first aid kit there is a blanket for disasters (a special product made of shiny foil).
For personal hygiene I always stock up on:
Handkerchiefs;
Loofah and pumice;
Toothbrush and toothpaste;
Deodorant;
Shampoo, body wash, soap;
Sun cream, after and shaving cream.
Leisure accessories:
Sun glasses;
Cards;
Rackets, Bambinton;
Flight magazine, crosswords, pen;
Discs with your favorite music;
Books, newspapers.
Documents are required; the set may vary depending on the type of trip:
Foreign passport with a valid visa;
Photocopy of Russian and foreign passports;
Insurance certificate valid outside Russia;
Accident insurance;
Receipt for payment for camping or hotel reservation;
Documents for the car, license;
Green map from an insurance company for trips abroad.
I also take VISA and MASTERCARD cards. I make sure to pay bills in advance, top up my phone and cards. I take cash based on preliminary calculations: for gasoline, hotel or camping accommodation, road payments. If there is foreign currency in the country, I carry out the exchange in advance.
When going on vacation as a savage, I stock up on food:
Packaged soup and other dishes for three days;
One sealed package of soup;
Four cans of sausage;
A stick of smoked sausage;
Canned meat products - five cans;
Sweets (chocolate and lollipops);
Bread or biscuits;
Tea, coffee, portioned cream;
Cognac.
In the evening before setting off, I charge the refrigerator. We mainly prepare for the road: sandwiches, boil eggs, take vegetables (cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes). Fruits (apples, bananas). Seasonings: salt, pepper and instant coffee. Or we cook it in advance, in a thermos.
Here is approximately the list of necessary things. Of course, it varies depending on the type of trip. If I plan to live in a campsite, then almost all of the above is included. Staying at a hotel, of course, makes your luggage much lighter; many things are simply impractical to take. But even if everything is taken, it fits perfectly into my car. If packaged correctly. Maybe someone has useful tips- I will be glad to accept.
I hope you have a good time on your planned trip.

Outdoor recreation is necessary for every resident of the metropolis. In order to make it as comfortable as possible, you should think in advance about what things you should take with you on a hike or trip.

What things to take on an overnight camping trip:

  • Sleeping bag and tent. If you are not extreme sports enthusiasts, then of course you will need a warm shelter from the coolness of the night and rain.
  • Warm blankets and warm clothes.
  • Phone with GPS.
  • Waterproof shoes.
  • Insect repellent, sunscreen. If the picnic takes place at the end of May, beginning of June, it is worth taking a tick repellent, since there are especially many of them in the forest at this time.
  • Knives. It’s worth taking not just one, but several.
  • opener. If you plan to drink wine, you'll also need a corkscrew.
  • Cutting board. It would be good if it was light and plastic. You can even take several, then cooking will go much faster.
  • Dishes. For a picnic, a disposable one is best; you can also take a plastic one, but keep in mind that you will also have to wash it later. Don't forget cups, forks, spoons, bowls for salads, kebabs, etc., they can be either plastic or iron. If you plan to cook fish soup or porridge, you should also take a pot.
  • Iron tongs, fork, spatula. You will need them if you cook vegetables or meat on the grill or grill.
  • Brazier. It would be better if it was foldable. If you have a barbecue, you don’t have to look for any frying equipment on site. It is convenient to place both grids and skewers on it, so you can cook any dishes on coals without any problems.
  • Nets, skewers.
  • Lighters, matches, lighter, paper for starting a fire.
  • Firewood or coal. Take them only if you will be vacationing in an area where it is difficult to find dry branches or it rained heavily the other day (then you simply will not be able to find dry firewood).
  • Hatchet. It is needed for chopping wood. If you are using coal, you will not need this tool.
  • Bedspreads, rugs.
  • Disposable tablecloths.
  • Towels, napkins.
  • Folding furniture. Of course, you can completely do without folding chairs and a table, but if you have them and have the opportunity to take them with you, be sure to take them. With such furniture your stay will be as comfortable as possible.
  • Process water. It’s worth taking more, especially if there is no body of water nearby.
  • Wet wipes, toilet paper, soap, girls could use a mirror and a comb.
  • Beach towel. You will need it if you are planning a vacation near the water.
  • Swimwear, swimming trunks. They can be useful not only for relaxing by the water, but also for sunbathing, for example, in a forest clearing.
  • Things for fun. To make a summer picnic in nature as interesting and fun as possible, you should take care of entertainment. For this, a ball, cards, rackets, guitar, radio or battery-powered tape recorder, fishing rods, camera, air mattress, etc. may be useful.
  • Toys for children. To prevent children from getting bored and asking to go home, it is worth thinking about their leisure time. For them you can take a kite, jump ropes, hoops, bubble, buckets, spatulas, molds, inflatable rings, coloring books, board games, etc.
  • Warm clothes. Outside the city, it can be quite cool in the evening.
  • Garbage bags.

Such things must be taken taking into account the number of people who are going to go out into nature all together. It would also be useful if the company took another supply of equipment for an overnight stay. Perhaps one of your friends will want to join the company unscheduled.

List of food items to take on an overnight camping trip

  • Drinking water, drinks. This could be mineral water, juices, compotes. It’s very good to freeze such drinks and use them to serve food, this will keep them fresh for as long as possible. You can also take a thermos with boiling water and tea or coffee bags in stickers.
  • Salt, sauces, spices, vegetable oil, vinegar, sugar. Salt is necessary in any case; sauces and spices are required for barbecue, vegetables, meat, salads, etc. Vinegar and oil are useful for dressing salads and preparing vegetables, and sugar for tea.
  • Vegetables, greens. They can be eaten fresh, used to make salads and sandwiches, or baked over coals.
  • Fruits. They will serve as a wonderful dessert or light snack.
  • Bread, pita bread, flatbreads. For dessert - cookies.
  • Meat, poultry, fish. They can be taken marinated and cooked on the spot, or if you don't plan on having a fire, cooked, fried or baked.
  • Cheeses, sausages, sausages, smoked meats. Sausages and sausages are great for cooking on coals, cheeses and sausages for sandwiches.
  • Sandwich products. This can be different cuts (salmon, boiled pork, etc.), sprats, cheese paste, butter, etc.
  • Salads and sandwiches, it is recommended to cook directly in nature, but you can make preparations for them at home.

It is best to transport food in a basket; this will not only look more aesthetically pleasing than an abundance of bags, but will also protect your food from damage. A thermal bag is good for transporting food; it will protect it from spoilage.

To prepare salads, you should take preparations. It will be possible to cut and mix them into a single whole while directly on site. If you make salads in advance, season them with a sauce based on mayonnaise or sour cream and take them with you outdoors, they may leak on the road, as a result of which they will become tasteless. They can also disappear if the road to the place of deployment is long.

The list of what to take on an overnight camping trip may vary depending on the preferences of vacationers and their number. Each of them has the right to make changes to the top things necessary for comfortable spending time outside the home.

  • skis.

Keep in mind that anatomically, backpacks are divided into men's and women's.
For a 7-day hike, a backpack with a volume of 60 liters is enough; for 14 days you will need a backpack with a volume of 80-90 liters.

Check if the package includes a cover to protect the backpack from rain. Additionally, we recommend purchasing an internal waterproof bag, which will help keep your clothes and sleeping bag dry from heavy rain or when it falls into the river. A plus will be the presence of external fastenings for a rug, tent, clothes, trekking poles.

Sleeping bags, like clothes, have their own size. Pay attention to this. The wider the sleeping bag, the more comfortable it is to sleep in it. To the “Comfort” value (not “Comfort limit”) indicated in the specifications, feel free to add 10-15 degrees for women and 5 degrees for men.

The above list of equipment will not weigh down your backpack too much and will cover 99% of your travel needs.
