Reef oasis dive center. One of the best hotels. padi tec rec courses

I apologize for not writing a review right away, without delay. Much has already “evaporated”

The title is just my opinion. I got what I wanted from my vacation.
By default I did NOT search in this hotel:
- so that the staff flutters around me and dances with a tambourine;
- so that the room is affordable, and at the same time equipped with the latest technology and the latest renovation;
- to serve lobster in cheese sauce for dinner;

I went there for new emotions, to take a break from the hustle and bustle of work, to reboot. I succeeded 100%.

Regarding accommodation, when checking in, I asked for a room closer to the beach, since I wanted to carry a weight belt, towels and all sorts of rubbish back and forth twice a day over the shortest possible distances. And of course, the reception gave the number exactly the opposite. Chocolate and 20 dollars solved the problem) We were moved closer to the beach area, but we still had to stomp a lot. The hotel area is simply huge. But this can also be solved - a shuttle bus regularly travels around the territory.

The room is standard, a little tired, but without any special complaints - we only came there to shower, sleep and change clothes, the beds and linen were intact, there were no breakdowns or critical comments. For Egypt, for this money, everything is tolerable. After registration, we were driven to our room by an employee in an electric car. He picked up the luggage upon check-out. Don't forget to thank them, a dollar per tip is their main income. In the room, on our own initiative, we wiped all surfaces (especially the shower, sink and toilet seat) with wet wipes with an antiseptic, just in case, to be on the safe side, it wouldn’t hurt. There's all sorts of cleaning, you know. Towels were changed daily, beds were made daily, it was even a little annoying to unpack these envelopes from the sheets every time) The water bottle was replenished daily. What else is needed? They poisoned mosquitoes every evening, of course it stinks, but something has to be sacrificed. Either mosquitoes, or suffer the exhaust for 15 minutes. Personally, it’s more important for me to be bitten as little as possible, so I didn’t pay any attention to the smoke from the weed at all.

The Internet near the reception is barely working. Therefore, it is probably better to use local operators and buy a local SIM card. IN Old city It's not far by taxi, locals go for 40-50 pounds, our taxi drivers charge from 5 dollars and more, but if you haggle, you can get there for 3-4) that's if it matters to anyone. In the old city there are restaurants with freshly caught fish, you can buy directly from the counter, for example, shrimp for 10-12 dollars per kg, they will cook it for you, and you can take it with you.

The animation in the hotel is average, if that matters to anyone. I didn't care. We entertained ourselves) More focused on Italy. People were constantly invited to all sorts of games or aqua fitness. They earned their bread. Vulgar monotonous shows - like almost every animation team in different hotels V different countries. This is not the best option for entertainment.

The food is quite plentiful, don’t look for Turkish variety, but no one will go hungry. Vegetables and fruits, beef, fish, chicken, sometimes some sea creatures, desserts, + fast food (pizza, French fries, burgers). I don't drink alcohol, there will be no review. Once they found a cockroach in fried fish, I took a photo on my phone, the manager immediately jumped up, apologized for a long time and asked to delete the photo. It was noticeable that he was very frightened by this fact. I said that I would not raise a scandal, let him not worry, but still let them carry out disinfestation more often and clean more thoroughly. Several times he asked for the room number, probably so that he could send some fruit, but I refused to give the number. Happens. There are cockroaches in kitchens everywhere, in all hotels. You just need to fight them so that such problems do not arise.

Aquapark. I went there on the last day, succumbing to the child’s persuasion. It's good that it was on the last day, not the first. In general, on one slide, when entering the pool, I knocked both of my heels off on the bottom of the pool. I don’t know why, maybe I picked up too much speed, maybe I didn’t group well, maybe it was too small for my height or weight... But it’s a fact. Then I limped on both legs for a week. It’s good that there were no fractures - it would have been several months in a cast. In general, be careful. My daughter frolicked there without any problems.)

Beach. I don’t know what letters should be used to write that occupying sunbeds in advance is unethical. But our people didn’t care about all the rules. It’s just that in such situations you are ashamed of your people, for whom there is not enough space. There's enough for everyone. Moreover, when these citizens come to the occupied sun loungers at 10-11 o’clock, the sun has long since moved, the shadow from the umbrellas is already in a completely different place, and these fat women in Chinese slippers, which they didn’t even bother to wash off the household dirt from their vegetable gardens, they begin to climb on your head, patamusha for them, too, the shadow of the need... AAAAAA dammit. Well then, production costs.

The pontoon, of course, is not the first freshness, but I have never seen anyone fall from it. Yes, he plays under your feet, you just need to get used to walking, and it’s better to wear beach shoes, so that God forbid, you don’t pinch something between the sections of the pontoon. Yes, as far as I understand, the location of Reef Oasis is very convenient during the windy season, when in Naama Bay there are red flags everywhere on the beaches - you can swim freely in Reef Oasis, this bay is better protected from the wind.

A lifeguard is constantly on duty on the pontoon, and he watches very carefully to ensure that people (usually ours, Savetsky) do not swim too far or trample the corals with the risk of being scratched, pricked or burned. During our time, one man overestimated his capabilities, swam away 100 meters, and either he felt bad with his heart, or became weak, or was drunk, in general, it’s good that the rescuer noticed him, jumped into his kayak, and managed to pull him out . He lay down on the pontoon for about 10 minutes, went ashore, and in the evening I saw him in the bar with another drink))))

Now about the reef. Much has already been written about him. Indeed, very beautiful and diverse, especially if you dive deeper. For those who are worried about the fact that boats approach the hotel every day, they anchor at a considerable distance, and their tourists do not swim up to the hotel’s reef; in general, this does not in any way affect the rest of the hotel’s clients. And in the place where they become, there is also something to see. I swam all over there, up and down, to the anchorage of the boats, and along the reef in both directions to the neighboring pontoons. There is beauty everywhere.

In addition, I specifically looked for a hotel with an operating diving center. Many hotels have a “diving center” in the description, but in fact this name may hide an empty booth on the beach, near which a guide hangs out, there is no equipment, and they take diving to other places.

Everything about this diving hotel is top notch. A full-fledged PADI certified school where you can study for any certificate. Upon completion of the training, a temporary certificate is issued, and the plastic is sent by mail from the PADI head office. Instructor with excellent command of Russian or English - Ahmed Hassan, hello!) A friendly, large team, a variety of services - everything you need for a hotel next to which there are such interesting and rich reefs. Equipment is regularly brought out onto the pontoon for free test dives for everyone. Near the pontoon maximum depth 5-6 meters, no more.

We went to Tiran Island twice last year, this time we booked a trip to Ras Mohammed with dives for the whole day at the dive center. I can’t say that I was wildly delighted; the fauna there is the same as near the hotel. I didn’t see any special fish there. Well, hefty moray eels, of course. But they are also not far from the hotel reef)

Life hack for those interested in diving courses. You can download the corresponding textbook on the Internet (in our case, open water diver), and save $50. No one will insist that you buy this primer directly from the dive center. For training in the pool near the dive center, a special section of the pool is allocated, where vacationers are prohibited from swimming. One of my tasks was to introduce my daughter to full-fledged diving, to obtain an entry-level certificate, so that she would not be held by the valve during dives, so that she could master all the required skills herself... Largely, thanks to the instructor and the entire team of the school, we completed this task positively .

I think we will come back here again. Although I used to follow the rule of not repeating hotels, even if I liked everything. When we are ready for advanced open water, we will only come here for training. Next time we plan to dive on the Thistlegorm wreck.

In general, my recommendation for those looking for a hotel for a quiet beach holiday, with children, or for diving - feel free to go to Oasis Reef. Anyone looking for a wild party, Russian-speaking animators or mega-VIP elite service - you probably need to look elsewhere.

Dive Information

Diving in Sharm El Sheikh

Sharm El Sheikh is well known for its wonderful dive sites, rich of different coral types and many fish species, amazing Flora and Fauna, with water temperature ranging between 20°C in February 27°C from July to October, and an outstanding visibility ranging between 20-30 meters! You only need a long wetsuit from November to April, for the rest of the year it"s enough to wear a short wetsuit. More Europeans learn to dive in Sharm El Sheikh than anywhere else in the world and diving is ideal for beginners.

All divers can join weekly diving Schedule. If you are on a family holiday but you cannot live without diving, Reef Oasis organizes two shore dives daily at 11.30 am and 2.30 pm at beautiful house reefs Temple and Far Garden. The boat trips are organized every day to the best dive sites of famous Ras Mohamed National Park or to Tiran Strait. We leave from the jetty (Sharm el Sheikh or Shark"s bay) at 8.00 am. During the trip, we complete two dives and for those interested, there is a possibility of the third dive. During breaks, we enjoy sun and sea and have a lunch break with soft drinks on the board.

Dive Sites

In general, Sharm El Sheikh is divided into three main areas: The Straits of Tiran with its Dive Sites, The Ras Mohamed National Park with its Dive Sites and the Local Dive Sites in Sharm El Sheikh that lies in between Tiran Island and Ras Mohammed National Park.

  • Ras Mohammed - South of Sharm el Sheikh the coast is totally deserted, with no shelter for more than a mile, up to the small bay named MARSA GHOZLANI, where the RAS MOHAMMED NATIONAL PARKbegins. This is followed by another bay, MARSA BAREIKA which is much larger and deeper. It penetrates the land for 2.8 miles, forming the RAS MOHAMMED peninsula, which extends south-eastwards into the Red Sea for almost 5 miles and separates the Gulf of Aqaba from the Gulf of Suez. Because of its geographic position the Ras Mohammed peninsula is a privileged area that benefits from strong currents that transport large quantities of plankton and other food that give rise to an extraordinary growth of hard and soft corals and attract large schools of both reef and pelagic marine fauna . With the great abundance of food, barracuda, jackfish, tuna and sharks swarm in these waters, especially between June to August, offering divers the chance to make extremely interesting and exciting dives.
  • Strait of Tiran - The Straits of Tiran lies at the mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba and are bordered on the west by the coast of Sinai and on the east by the island of Tiran. In the middle of this channel there are four reefs lying in a northeast-southwest direction that were named after the 19th century English cartographers who drew the first nautical map of this region: JACKSON REEF, WOODHOUSE REEF, THOMAS REEF and GORDON REEF. These reefs divide the straits into two canals, to the east is the so-called GRAFTON PASSAGE, which is used exclusively by ships going northwards, while to the west is the ENTERPRISE PASSAGE for ships heading south. The strong currents that characterize the Straits of Tiran transport great quantities of plankton and other nutrient material every day, thus supplying a great deal of food to the corals and hence to the reef fish which in turn are eaten by the large pelagic predators such as barracuda , jackfish, tuna and above all sharks which are always in this zone. Consequently, scuba divers in the waters of Tiran are sure to see not only an infinite number of corals but also rich fauna, both reef and pelagic.
  • Far Garden - Far Garden is located in the northernmost part of a splendid bay just north of Naama Bay. Because of the many coral formations and their configuration, Far Garden is considered a veritable underwater hanging garden. It differs from the other localities in the bay, since there is a series of large coral pinnacles located between the ledge along the reef and the drop-off, which becomes gradually steeper in an eastward direction. Here you can make either a drift dive or shore dive. The current, which generally runs eastwards, tends to get stronger closer to the headland. Do not dive too deeply, especially in the vicinity of THE CATHEDRAL. You can look out for Gorgonian, porites, lionfish, fusiliers, glassfish, scorpionfish, and in the summer months, many larger pelagics swimming past.
  • The Temple - The Temple is located on the north side of Sharm El Sheikh Harbor. It is a group of three pinnacles that rise up from 20 meters below to the surface. This is a flat, sloping reef with two major, and a few minor, pinnacles adding contour to the reef face. The largest of the pinnacles is "The Tower". Its bulk is split by two major fissures, one of which can be swum through. The second should not be entered, to avoid damaging the delicate gorgonians growing along their sides. All the pinnacles hide a surprisingly rich variety of reef animals.
  • The pinnacles are rather close to each other and have sand channels between them. The pinnacles have sheer walls which are covered with soft and hard corals, fan corals and reef fish. Coral growth throughout the site is good, with a density and mix of species difficult to match in the immediate area. They are a blanket of color. The fish are as pleasant a surprise as the coral, with a truly amazing range of species colonizing the reef. There are lionfish all about, as well as stonefish that do not move and are camouflaged.
  • Around the pinnacles are schools of glass sweepers that move together.
  • Because The Temple is so close to Sharm El Sheikh and Na"ama Bay, it is a very popular night-dive site. At night the basket stars create the illusion of a curtain in the light current as they feed. As the basket stars are hit by your dive light, they tend to withdraw into a ball. As the light moves away, they expand back out and continue feeding. The feather stars and soft corals have many colors that are very beautiful in the dive lights. in the crevices with your dive lights. Some may even have their cocoons around them.
  • The typical depth range of the Temple is 5 to 20 meters deep and is accessed by our Shore.
  • Ras Nasrani - The name of this locality means Christian cape in Arabic.
  • The diving is done from a small sandy plateau that begins at a depth of about 6 meters, where a sand flow originates then you head northwards towards the cape, taking advantage of the current, which ranges from weak to moderate and tends to get faster near the headland. After you have passed some large gorgonians located at about 20 meters" depth, you will come upon large colonies of mushroom-shaped Porites coral heads; These become even more numerous beyond the cape. The dive goes through the zone between the reef slope, which has many small shelters studded with multicolored Alcyonarians, and the drop-off situated about 30 meters away. Ras Nasrani has the best shallow coral available to snorkellers in Sharm.
  • Thistlegorm Wreck - THE THISTLEGORM, its Gaelic name meaning BLUE THISTLE, was a British transport ship belonging to the Albyn Line shipping company, is 126.5 meters long, a capacity of 4,898 tons and had a `three-cylinder steam engine developing 1,860 HP that gave the vessel a speed of around 10 knots. The Thistlegorm was built to transport refurbished wartime materials for the British troops. In May 1941 with a crew of 39 men it had left the port of Glasgow, Scotland, with a cargo of munitions, bombs of different kinds, anti-tank mines, Lee Enfield MK III rifles, hundreds of BSA, BSA W-M20, Matchless G3L and Norton 16H motorbikes. Bedford, Morris and Ford trucks. Four light Brengun Carrier MK II tracked vehicles. Two steam Stanier 8 F locomotives complete with two coal tenders and water tankers. On the night of the 5-6 October 1941 two German Heinkel HE III bombers, coming from their base in Crete, sighted and attacked the ship. It was hit by two bombs on hold no.4 where the munitions deposit amongst other things was situated. The Thistlegorm sank in an upright position on a flat, sandy seabed 30 meters deep at 1.30 am on the 6th October 1941. Jacques Cousteau discovered the wreck in 1955 and mentioned it in an article published in February 1956 in the monthly National Geographic Magazine. Jacques Cousteau did not reveal the position of the wreck, thus it went forgotten for almost 40 years until 1991 when it was rediscovered by an Israeli skipper. In a short time, the Thistlegorm has become a great favorite with scuba divers from all over the world and is now the most visited wreck in the whole Red Sea.
  • Dahab- The small city of Dahab lies 80 KM north of Sharm el Sheikh and has seen significant tourist development in the last few years. The number of scuba divers visiting its diving sites has risen amazingly, yet many of these divers are not clients of the over 30 local dive centers here but come from Sharm looking for different dives in a more relaxed and calm atmosphere. In contrast to Sharm el Sheikh where scuba diving is mainly by boat, in Dahab the sites are easily accessible by land and boats are rare. THE BLUE HOLE and CANYON representing the most beautiful and interesting diving sites for the underwater marine life and crystalline water.
