One way or another, he was fascinated by the idea of opening his own casino and doing legal business in Nevada. In 1945, entrepreneur Billy Wilkerson, sharing Bugsy's premonition about the great future of Las Vegas, decided to build a luxurious casino-hotel building there. However, he soon spent all his funds, and Bugsy, putting pressure on him, bought the plot. He decided to name the hotel "Flamingo" after the nickname of his mistress Virginia Hill. The mafia financed the construction.
