International marathon “White Nights. Asics is a partner of the Ergo White Nights marathon White Nights Marathon prizes

On June 29, the anniversary XXV International Marathon "ERGO White Nights" was launched in St. Petersburg.

This year a record number of runners ran the race - 4,711: 2,180 people completed the marathon distance, 2,531 - 10 kilometers. Marathon partner - the world's largest manufacturer of sportswear and footwear ASICS - provided T-shirts to all competition participants.

The White Nights Marathon is an annual sporting event northern capital, held since 1990. Initially, the competition took place at night, with a start at 23.00 and finish the next morning. Despite the fact that the number of participants in the race was always sufficient, there were practically no people willing to support the athletes. Due to the lack of spectators on the route, the organizers of the marathon - the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of St. Petersburg and the Athletics Federation of St. Petersburg - decided to postpone the start to 17.00. The runners finished just as the white nights set in.

IN last years Due to congestion of city streets with motor vehicles and high gas pollution, the White Nights marathon starts on Sunday at 9.00 and finishes at 15.00 at main square St. Petersburg. Changes to the event's schedule have had a positive impact on its popularity, with more than 15,000 spectators supporting runners along the entire course.

The route of the ERGO White Nights marathon can, without a doubt, be called one of the most beautiful: it runs in one ring through the central part of the city against the backdrop of the world-famous famous monuments architecture - Saint Isaac's Cathedral, Bronze Horseman, Spit of Vasilyevsky Island, Peter and Paul Fortress, Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Summer garden.

The beauty of the route and the prize fund of the competition, which is not inferior to the best marathons in the world, attract new participants every year. It is noteworthy that the Russians were replaced from the leading positions by African runners - Moroccans and Kenyans. Thus, the winner of the marathon in 2013 was the athlete from Kenya Peter Klavier - 2:14.30. This year, all the prizes were also taken by Kenyans: Salamon Barngetung - 2:16:12, Yator Jacob Kiplagat - 2:16:30, Kwalia Peter Naybei - 2:18:34. Among women, Tatyana Vilisova from Yekaterinburg won with a result of 2:40:49, 2nd place went to Irina Kozubovskaya (Moscow) - 2:42:22, 3rd place - Anna Petrushenko (St. Petersburg) - 2:44:58 .

At a distance of 10 kilometers, the St. Petersburgers were the first: Artur Burtsev won among men - 30.27, among women - Yulia Chizhenko (St. Petersburg) - 34.29,

Every year the popularity of “Ergo White Nights” is growing and more and more often the competition of the northern capital is compared with the Moscow Marathon which, today, is the most popular in Russia. An important role in the status of any running event is played by the support of world-famous partners. In particular, the participation of ASICS guarantees a high degree of seriousness, fame and reliability of the event, bringing it to the same level as all sports projects in which the company participates around the world: the brand sponsors marathons in New York, Tokyo, Hamburg, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, Barcelona, Istanbul, Reykjavik. In Russia and the CIS countries, ASICS, in addition to ERGO White Nights, supports the Kiev Marathon and the popular half-marathons “Spring Thunder” and “Autumn Thunder” in Moscow.

Running is a priority for ASICS, so developments advanced technologies The company's research institute pays special attention to improving clothing and footwear for this sport. Professionals and amateurs know that equipment with Japanese innovations guarantees comfort and safety during training, and high results during competitions. It's no wonder why the majority of runners choose ASICS: in 2013, 44.5% of the 40,108 marathon runners wore the brand's shoes in the Paris Marathon, and 56% did so in Tokyo. ASICS is ranked 4th in the ranking of the largest brands in the world for selling running equipment.*

The Japanese brand is trusted by outstanding athletes and the largest sports federations in the world. The company is proud of its cooperation with the Athletics Federations of France, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Bulgaria, as well as the Triathlon Federations of Switzerland, Germany and Japan.

The brand's ambassadors are the "stars" of world sports: Lolo Jones - two-time world champion in the 60-meter hurdles (especially for the Olympics in Sochi, the American changed track and field to bobsleigh), Christophe Lemaitre, three-time European champion, the first and to date only sprinter European-born, who ran 100 meters faster than 10 seconds, Ryan Hall is the strongest marathon runner on the planet and the fastest among American runners.

Especially for the marathon "ERGO White Nights" ASICS has provided colorful T-shirts made from technologically advanced Cyberdry fabric: lightweight, breathable material with excellent moisture-wicking properties for maximum comfort while running.

On Sunday, July 22, the XXIX International Marathon “White Nights” will take place - one of the most popular and beautiful Russian races.

1. Beginning

This marathon was first held in Leningrad in 1990. In those days, it fully lived up to its name and began at 23.00. Then the start was postponed to the morning.

2. Rehearsal for the ship parade

This year, the dates for the White Nights have been shifted due to the FIFA World Cup. A bonus for runners is a rehearsal for Navy Day, which will begin on the Neva at 11.00. For this reason, the start is scheduled for early in the morning.

3. Limit

Marathon runners must complete the race within 6 hours. Intermediate limits: 6 km – 1 hour, 20 km – 2 hours 50 minutes, 30 km – 4 hours 15 minutes. The 20-kilometer limit is associated with the opening of the Blagoveshchensky Bridge.

4. Route

Compared to last year, the White Nights route has changed somewhat - it does not include Nevsky Prospekt and Palace Bridge. Start and finish at the same place - on Palace Square. The route is laid mainly along the banks of the Neva and other rivers, covering the English, Universitetskaya, Mytninskaya, Kronverkskaya, Petrovskaya, Petrogradskaya, Aptekarskaya, Pesochnaya embankments, as well as the embankments of the Novo-Admiralteysky Canal, Pryazhka and Fontanka. All the main attractions of the city, including the St. Petersburg stadium that hosted the World Cup, are included.

5. Weather

The end of July is not the best time for a marathon, not only because of the holiday season, but also because of difficult weather conditions. Forecasters promise up to 26 degrees on Sunday, with showers and thunderstorms possible.

6. Participants

About 11,000 people will run “White Nights” 2018, approximately 4,000 will run the main distance. Those who have registered for the marathon will start at 7.50. Those who run 10 km - at 8.20.

7. Prize fund

This year White Nights does not have a title sponsor. Nevertheless, the organizers managed to maintain the same prize fund - 2 million rubles. The winners will receive 300 thousand rubles, silver medalists - 150 thousand, bronze medalists - 100 thousand.

8. Champions from Tolyatti

The last two White Nights marathons were won by athletes from Tolyatti Yuri Chechun and Nadezhda Leshchinskaya. Having finished first in 2017, Yuri admitted that due to a leg injury, he ran for the result, and not for the time. The result of his speech is 02:19:45. Leshchinskaya time is 02:36:50. This year the Togliatti team is determined to defend their titles again. Nadezhda’s competition will be Tatyana Aryasova, participant Olympic Games 2008 and a multiple winner of Russian and foreign marathons.

9. Records

The men's track record has stood since 2003, when Nikolai Kerimov finished with a result of 2:11:46. The best women's time - 2:35:35 - belongs to Vera Trubnikova (2012).

10. Guests

The White Nights marathon is the only sporting event included in the TOP 20 of the unified calendar of events in St. Petersburg. Athletes from more than 60 countries are expected to come to St. Petersburg. In particular, from Germany, Italy, France, China, Belarus and the Baltic states.

The current race had to be moved to the second Sunday of July because of the Confederations Cup, when other major competitions cannot be held so as not to compromise safety and quality. And next year, the city, along with others, will host the World Cup final. The dates for the World Cup are already known - from June 14 to July 15. Marathon director Mikhail Kochetkov says that “we may have to hold our competition in 2018 at the end of May or at the beginning of June.”

Be that as it may, the date does not affect the famous route - the blue line leads thousands and thousands of runners entirely to places from glossy guidebooks. Palace Square opens and crowns the race. And in between flash the embankments of the Neva, Fontanka, Moika, eleven bridges and bridges, streets and avenues... Woe to the marathon runner who came to St. Petersburg for the first time! He won’t see a good result - until you look at everything and photograph it, you’ll have to meet the limit.

The organizers announced that they were ready to host 13,000 people: the stated limits were seven thousand for the marathon and six thousand for the “top ten”. Last time almost 10,000 participants ran in the city on the Neva. According to this indicator, “White Nights” is in second place after the Moscow Marathon. The scale is impressive, to be sure. Especially compared to the first race. Then 471 stayers from 83 cities of the USSR and runners from Great Britain, the USA, and Germany finished in Leningrad. By the way, registration cost 10 rubles. And for first place, champion Leonid Tikhonov received 3,000 rubles. The runners were promised half as much for the victory, and Kursk resident V. Lyakhova took home 1,500 rubles in prize money. Now it’s scary to think what kind of noise would have arisen on social networks if the organizers had judged this way.

Thanks to the new partner Tricolor TV and sponsors, the prize fund of the current marathon is 2 million rubles. Prizes will be awarded to the first eight finishers. The fastest will receive 300,000 rubles. In addition, a bonus 30,000 will go to the participant for a result of 2:13 minutes or faster, and to the participant for a result of 2:34 minutes or faster. A special prize will also be awarded to the marathon runner who achieves the 3,000th result in the overall standings.

The geography of the participants is impressive. Residents of Chelyabinsk, Ufa, Ryazan, Murmansk, Samara, Omsk, Belgorod, Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Surgut, Yaroslavl, Kazan, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Khanty-Mansiysk, Kursk, Astrakhan and other Russian cities will run in St. Petersburg. Foreigners have also long and selflessly fallen in love with this race. Italians, Indians, Turks, Spaniards, Estonians, Germans, Poles, Americans, Ukrainians, citizens of South Africa, Kenya and the UAE are the flags of more than four dozen countries in the starting protocol.

Despite the fact that African stayers have become White Nights champions for the last few years, they still cannot break the race record. The best result since 2003 belongs to Nikolai Kerimov - then the runner from Ulyanovsk finished in 2:11:46. The women's record is much more recent: Vera Trubnikova from Novosibirsk completed the distance in 2:35:34 five years ago.

The day is predicted to be cool, +12 o ... +16 o in the morning. So with a high probability we can expect the record to be updated. Last year, let us recall, marathon runners ran at extreme temperature+30 o ... +32°. Almost a hundred people consulted doctors, some had to be hospitalized. Fortunately, everything worked out fine. Summer 2017, on the contrary, is conducive to outstanding results.

Every year a wave of duty rises - participants ask to hold “White Nights” at night, from Saturday to Sunday, as was planned almost thirty years ago. The night race itself did not last long, only two years - the starting shot was heard an hour before midnight. But the director of the marathon is unequivocal: “It’s difficult to hold it at night: firstly, there are no fans; secondly, our nights are not so “white” - we still have to turn on the lights; thirdly, in such conditions, due to intense traffic fail to ensure the safety of participants. Difficulties also arose due to the construction of bridges, so the route ran only along the left bank of the Neva. (...) And finally, the start was scheduled for 9 am on Sunday - at this time cleaner city and fewer cars. In addition, our marathon is the “face” of the city, and holding such an event at night is unacceptable from the point of view of both tourism and safety.”

On the eve of the race it became known that the start had been moved to 8:00. These are the white nights of St. Petersburg - they begin early in the morning.

On July 22, 2018, the next 29th international marathon “White Nights” took place in St. Petersburg. The weather allowed the participants to show excellent results. The organizers rose to the occasion; the route was chosen perfectly. The motto of the marathon is “It’s not time to sleep, it’s time to run.”

First place and a prize of 300 thousand rubles was won by Oleg Grigoriev with a result of 2 hours 19 minutes 28 seconds, Nikolay Volkov completed the distance in 2:22:29, Alexander Pavlenin came third in 2:23:20. For women, Elizaveta Erokhina from Petrozavodsk won with a time of 2:40:32, 2-time winner Nadezhda Leshchinskaya was second with a result of 2:42:43, Alexandra Kabanova finished third in 2:45:11.

The White Nights marathon 2018 finished on Palace Square in St. Petersburg

Today, 3.5 thousand participants registered for the marathon distance, a total of 11 thousand people took part. The starting shot was fired on Palace Square at 7.50 am, the 10-kilometer race began at 8.20.

From the first minutes, a group of 5 athletes took the lead, the leaders began to fight for the top three: Oleg Grigoriev, Alexander Pavlenin, Yuri Chechin, Sergei Popov and Nikolai Volkov. This dense group of runners reached the 35 kilometer mark, where Oleg Grigoriev made a breakthrough, maintained the pace until the finish and won.

Results and prizes of the St. Petersburg international marathon “White Nights” 2018

The total prize fund of the marathon amounted to 1 million 430 thousand rubles. Men and women shared it equally. 1st place – 300 thousand rubles, 2nd place – 150 thousand, 3rd place – 100. Then 4th place – 60, 5 – 40, 6 – 30, 7 – 20, 8 – 15. Additional bonuses for results: 30 thousand rubles per result faster than 2 hours 13 minutes for men, 2 hours 34 minutes for women, a special prize for the person who showed the 3,000th result in the overall standings among men and women. The winners of age groups are awarded valuable prizes from the organizers of the marathon.

At the same time, the race has the status of the championship of St. Petersburg, the winners receive prizes and medals from the city’s sports committee. The track record stands. It was staged by Nikolai Kerimov in 2003, the result was 2:11:46.

The White Nights 2018 marathon is held in the most beautiful places of the northern capital

Along the Fontanka, Neva along the Voskresenskaya, Smolnaya, Sinopskaya embankments. Turn around near the Peter the Great Bridge and the last 7 kilometers to the finish line on Palace Square.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the bridges were planned to be raised for a rehearsal for the parade of ships for Navy Day, so the marathon route was adjusted. As a bonus, the participants saw the very rehearsal of the warships that had already entered the Neva, how the bridges were raised, although this is usually done at night.

The competition was served by 12 ambulances and 4 intensive care units, and 126 dry toilets were installed. The organizers took into account all the requirements of the athletes. The control time of the event is 6 hours. The marathon route is certified by the AIMDR Association of International Marathons. Every 5 kilometers there are time cutoffs, it is possible to track your movement by starting number, automatic photo and video recording of the finish.
