Railway line to the Crimean bridge

The media talks a lot about the construction of the Crimean Bridge. But the bridge is only half the battle. In parallel with the construction of the bridge, infrastructure is being built, including roads and railways for access. There will be a separate big story about the construction of the highway - your humble servant was lucky enough not only to see the road under construction, but also to drive along the already completed section. But along the way, we also managed to see the railway, which is being built to access the railway part of the Crimean Bridge.

Paved paths.

In the distance you can see the already installed contact network supports. The existing railway line is visible to the right. It is single track and not electrified. The new line runs parallel to the old one almost throughout its entire length.

It must be said that the new branch is already at a high degree of readiness; it feels like about 30% of all work has been completed. The embankment is already 80 percent ready - work on the construction of the embankment is now underway in the Taman region. The railway tracks are laid at approximately 60%, the overhead contact line supports are installed at approximately 40% of the length of the future railway line. In addition, at least three overpasses over existing roads and rivers are under construction.

50 pairs of trains per day will travel across the bridge to Crimea - 33 passenger, four commuter, 12 pairs of freight and one worker.

More than 13 million tons of cargo and over 14 million passengers will be transported annually to Crimea and back to the mainland.
