Veselovskoye Reservoir. Veselovskoye Reservoir Directions to the recreation area near the village of Lyshchevo

I spent several days on the banks of the Kanevsky Reservoir, visiting friends. Meeting with my institute friends, water, sun, beautiful places. Fishing didn’t really figure in my plans, so this is more of a photo report of the trip. But a few fishing-related notes can be given.

We all came from different cities and even countries to the city on the banks of the Dnieper and the Kanev Reservoir. Two of my friends live here, the hosts of our event, so to speak. 😉

We loaded our things onto a rather impressive duralumin boat, the Kazanka, and set off on our four-day voyage.

This is truly a “sea” created by man in central Ukraine. Yes, these expanses are in no way inferior to many large sea bays where I have fished.

The distance to the opposite shore is at least 4-5 km. We fly there by motor, with the breeze.

Beautiful shores. It's not so crowded here, because... There is no access from this bank. Only those who have a boat with a motor rest here. I love it when it's not crowded.

We moor, drop anchor, disembark ourselves, take our things ashore, and begin to prepare the camp. Someone is digging in a table and benches, someone is setting up our large and comfortable tent. The organization of the camp smoothly transitions into relaxation. It's nice to chat with friends.

We spend time around the fire, drinking vodka and barbecue, with dear friends. Time flies by quickly. Here comes the sunset.

In the morning we decide to go for a little ride around the water area. Let's take some pictures of the views, maybe do a little fishing, take a spinning rod...

The sun is rising.

We are moving away from our shore to the opposite one. Yesterday we saw extensive sandbanks there with sparse algae. Those areas seemed promising to me.

I was somewhat embarrassed that there were no perch biting in such interesting places. And spinners and poppers and small wobblers - nothing aroused the interest of the predator. And there were no signs that he was chasing small things in the shallows. Well... Someone fell asleep at the bottom of the boat. I persisted a little, but soon I also gave up. We return to camp.

The next day we also set out on a short voyage along the picturesque shores of the reservoir.

High sandy cliffs, with rocky outcroppings, gave way to wooded areas, pine forests and birch forests.

As we motor along the shores, we encounter rare yachts and fishing boats. Fishermen are clearly jigging on the coastal edges. We'll try something like this tomorrow morning.

We saw only a few buildings along the shore. Some small single house by the water.

Well, the “poor hut” on the cliff... The whole castle. Someone is clearly a supporter of remote residences to venture into this wilderness.

The next morning I go out to the shallows with a spinning rod. Between me and the edge, there are 10 meters of clear water, then there is a 3-4m strip of algae, and there is a dump. In front of the grass, on a small Mepps Aglia No. 0 spinner, I catch small chubs. Yes, I'm letting go. We need something more solid.

I move along the shore. There are rocky outcrops on a high sandy cliff. There is an area here where there is not much algae.

I also fish this area with small spinners. And so, I caught a pike perch. Not big, but quite a bearable size.

But there are no more bites. The sun rises and the clock shows eight o'clock. Apparently, I caught the very end of a flock of pike perch reaching the sandbank. We get into the boat and stand on the dump. Here we fish with jig baits - narrow-bodied Manns Predator 2.5 white vibrotails, on a jig head weighing 12g. The result is three more pike perch. True, these ones are already a little smaller than the first one taken in the shallows...

Well, we caught a few fish. Enough. We'll figure out how to do it a little later in the evening.

On a tree right in the middle of our camp, we saw a whole family of huge stag beetles. Handsome men.

And it’s generally beautiful here.

I really enjoyed my vacation. But it's time for us. We burn garbage.

We're loading things. And we set off on the way back.

Istra Reservoir

Istra reservoir is one of the largest reservoirs in the Moscow region. Built by 1935 on the Istra River; located on the map of the Istra district, which occupies part of the territory of the north-west of the Moscow region.

It has an elongated shape of 22 km in length and a relatively small (up to 2 km) width. The depths on the fairway reach 23 m. It is a source (with a maximum level of 183 million cubic meters) of water supply to Moscow. Previously, this reservoir in the Moscow region was used for navigation, the length of the route was 36 km.

Nature of the Istra Reservoir basin

The entire territory of the Istra reservoir is of a rugged type, replete with many hills covered with alternating fields and mixed forests. The banks of the reservoir are winding; numerous bays cut into them in place of flooded small rivers, which have long been favored by fishing enthusiasts.

Among the aquatic inhabitants of the reservoir, traditional fish species for the region predominate. The catches of amateur fishermen are most often dominated by roach and bleak, the number of which in the reservoir is significant. There are, of course, the ubiquitous “minke whales” - perches - inhabitants of coastal zones and more respectable “brothers” who have chosen deep places. If you try, you can catch bream and similar-shaped, but smaller breams. For fans of spinning fishing, fishing in the Istra region often brings prey in the form of pike and pike perch.

There are many springs in the coastal strip of the reservoir. This eliminates oxygen starvation of fish in winter; its death has never been observed at the reservoir.

Fishing in the Moscow region on the Istra Reservoir

They fish on the Istra Reservoir “wildly” or stop at one of the fishing bases. Among the latter, the most famous, visited by fishermen:

  • “Istra”, which is located right on the shore of the reservoir, near the bay near the Yakimansky state farm;
  • “Nudol”, named after the flooded river, on the banks of which (near the settlement of Radiontsevo) it was located;
  • “Pyatnitsky Reach”, located, as the name suggests, near the village of Pyatnitsa;
  • “Lopotovo”, which “appropriated” the name of the village, a kilometer from which it is located.

Fishermen who come to the reservoir use various gear: in the summer - float rods, spinning rods, donks, mugs; in winter - spinners, jigs. The most famous and promising fishing spots:

  • the area of the island “Uyutny”, near the village of Chernushki, immediately beyond the exit from the bay existing there; here, and this is confirmed by reports of fishing on the Istra Reservoir, with mugs, spinning rods are pecked in the morning by pike perch, which lives among the stumps of a cleared forest, flooded next to the river bed. Istra;
  • a bay in the area of the Nudol River flowing into the reservoir; in it, with mugs and winter lures, good perches are caught from a boat; if you swim deeper into the bay, you can find roach and bream;
  • Timofeevsky and Lopatinsky reaches, formed in a reservoir opposite the village of Pyatnitsa; In these places, different fish bite on any gear.

Winter fishing on the Istra Reservoir

The coolest place for winter fishing is the bay and the bed of the Katysh River, which flows into the reservoir on the right side. The deep places here have been attracting Moscow and local fishermen for many years.

They catch roach and small-sized perches, usually located along the riverbed. According to reports on fishing on the Istra Reservoir, the most active bite here is observed at the end of the winter period, when the water level in the reservoir is artificially lowered and, as a result, a slight current appears in the Katysh River. The latter brings fresh water, which attracts fish.

Rest on the Istra Reservoir

Recreation on this reservoir is one of the best in the Moscow region. There is beautiful nature around the Istra Reservoir, the reservoir itself is picturesque, and is located in a clean area of the Moscow region. Many private dachas and cottages have been built along its banks; here are the best holiday homes, boarding houses, bases and holiday homes on the Istra reservoir in the Moscow region. Their territories, for the most part, are not regime areas; You can always go to them (for example, for a fee), relax, and go fishing.

Recreation centers on the Istra reservoir

Most of the recreation centers on the reservoir were built along the river bed. Istra: in the area of the village of Lamishino there are 10 (Energy, TsNIIS, Neptune-1, Volna, Physicist, Furniture Man, Glebovka, MAI, Istra, Apogey), the settlement of Lopotovo - 7 (Orion, Maple, Surf, Romantic, Cape Verde, Neptune- 2, Rosinka). There are bases and boarding houses on the Istra reservoir, built on the banks of the bay of the river. Katysh (near the villages of Koltyshevo (1), Loginovo (1)), r. Nudol (near the villages of Ivanovskoye (3), Lyshchevo (1)), r. Ramenka (near the village of Rozhdestveno (1), Yakunino (2)), r. Katyshka (near the villages of Polezhaiki (2), Lopotovo (1), Trusovo (3), between Sokolovo and Polezhaiki (3)), etc.

B/o "Forget-me-not"

The recreation center (Internet address http://nezabudka-bo.ru) is located near the city of Solnechnogorsk, at a distance of 35 km from the Moscow Ring Road. Occupies 7 hectares of the coastal territory of the Istra reservoir; Centuries-old spruce and pine trees grow around it.

Two spacious two-story houses welcome guests all year round. They are designed to receive guests of 12...30 people. The houses have separate rooms, halls, saunas, small swimming pools, billiards. You can stay in a hotel (28 places), in guest rooms at the bar (12 people). In summer, wooden summer houses welcome guests.

For swimming there is its own equipped beach on the Istra Reservoir. There is a boat station with boat rentals, comfortable gazebos, next to which there are barbecue areas.

Ecology of the Istra Reservoir

On the map of the Moscow Region, the Istra Reservoir stands out among others not only because of its beauty, picturesqueness, and the preference of Muscovites when choosing vacation spots, but also because of its fairly clean water and surrounding nature. This is, first of all, the result of its status as a repository of strategic water reserves for the capital and the entire region.

The ecology of the reservoir “suffers” mainly from the influx of tourists - their ever-growing number and the products of their stay, which remain in large quantities in areas adjacent to the reservoir. Especially if all this is not removed on time, but ends up in the water, which ultimately causes a decrease in oxygen in the water and algae bloom.

Another problem of the Istra Reservoir is the aggressive development of its banks. In addition to the fact that most of them are built with violations, the structures are not equipped with the necessary treatment facilities, sewerage, and most of the sewage is discharged into the reservoir.

How to get to the Istra Reservoir

There are many routes to the reservoir. It all depends on the place where you are going to relax and go fishing.

Directions to the recreation area near the village of Trusovo

The place is one of the closest to the capital, you can get to it by car or public transport. The first is done along Pyatnitskoye Highway, which starts from the Moscow Ring Road (between Volokolamskoye and Leningradskoye). The road is beautiful, passes through the forest. But it has one lane, which affects the speed of movement.

Moving from the Moscow Ring Road, cross the concrete ring at the traffic light (road A107), then continue straight to the village. Sokolovo. After it, turn left (the angle of rotation is obtuse) and after 1 km there is a parking lot where you leave the car. You need to go down to the beach a little to the right.

Directions to the recreation area near the village of Lyshchevo

This zone is one of the cleanest on the Istra Reservoir and is located in the valley of the river. Nudoli. They get to it along the Volokolamsk Highway. First, they get to the city of Istra and along it through Moskovskaya, Pervomaiskaya and Sovetskaya streets. At the end they come across a T-shaped intersection and turn right from Volokolamka to Buzharovo. They cross it, move further through Sinevo, Nikitskoye, drive past the turns to Rodiontsevo, Lyshchevo and along the asphalt road they reach the place. More precisely, to the fence enclosing it, behind which you can climb through numerous holes. The water is no more than 10 m away, so it’s easy to watch a car left at the fence.

You can drive further. At the end you will find a dead end, a parking lot, and a checkpoint of a former children's hospital. Access to the territory is free, which is used by many fishermen, tourists and just vacationers. Their number is significantly less than in other places in the reservoir.

Novosibirsk and the Novosibirsk region are very rich in reservoirs where you can have excellent fishing and relaxation. Fishing in Novosibirsk can take place on more than 400 rivers, the largest and most famous of which is the Ob.

The Ob Reservoir, which is often called the Ob Sea, is very popular among experienced and novice fishermen. Boats come to fish from all over the country, and every year the number of fishermen increases rapidly. The abundance of different types of fish in the reservoir has attracted fishermen for many years.

But the Novosibirsk region is famous not only for its rivers; it has more than 2,500 lakes where you can spend time usefully and enjoy fishing. The largest lakes in Novosibirsk are Chany, Sartlan and Ubinskoye. You can also choose a tourist base for yourself, and, if you wish, even get out to a paid reservoir.

There are about 430 rivers flowing in Novosibirsk, the average length of which is much more than 10 kilometers. If you take a calculator in one hand and a map in the other, then the total length of the rivers flowing in the Novosibirsk region will be about 12 km. Most of the large rivers belong to the Ob River basin, these are the Inya, Shegarka, Berd and many others.

Almost the entire remaining half is included in the Irtysh River basin, the largest rivers being the Tara, Om, Uy and many others. The Ob is considered the largest river in Novosibirsk. The largest body of water in the region, the Novosibirsk Reservoir, is located on this river. The area of which is about 1070 km². In addition, there are more than 3.5 thousand small lakes on its territory.

Fishing in the Novosibirsk region is very popular among all fishermen. The good news is that there is enough space for fishing with a float rod and spinning rod for everyone, and some manage to occupy a promising place even for fishing with a feeder from the shore.

The Ob River divides Novosibirsk into two halves. Fishermen are pleased with the presence of such a river in the region, because for the most part fishing in Novosibirsk takes place on the Ob River, thanks to its wealth of fish resources and excellent conditions. Spinning fishing is especially popular among fishermen.

The Novosibirsk Reservoir is also a popular place for fishing. And if we take into account the presence of medium-sized lakes and small rivers on its territory, then there is freedom for spinners even from neighboring regions, who carefully analyze maps of reservoirs. If you are counting on catching a trophy fish, then within the city of Ob you will not have to count on a trophy, here the weight of the caught fish rarely exceeds 1 kg.

In search of trophy fish, you have to go outside the city limits. The key to successful fishing in Novosibirsk is the right choice of fishing spot. Catching a pike weighing more than 2 kilograms is not at all difficult, the main thing is to find it. Some fishermen manage to find fish weighing more than 10 kilograms, but they say that they need to find a place and then position the boat correctly along the Ob River bed.

I won’t bore you with long conversations about promising and fishing places in Novosibirsk. Fish can be caught everywhere, the main thing is to find it, choose the right bait, tackle and bait, and then all that remains is to fish it out. Let's take a closer look at the places where fishing in Novosibirsk will be successful:

  • Summer fishing in Novosibirsk is best done on the dam section of the Ob River;
  • You can try your fishing luck in places from the dam area to the Komsomolsky Bridge;
  • Fishing will be promising starting from the mouth of the Inya River;
  • You can look for fish at the mouth of the Inya River;
  • I have repeatedly caught large fish in the area of Bugrinsky beach;
  • You can try your luck on the Ob River, under the new bridge; more than once I had to fish there from a boat with a float rod; I caught qualifying bream and there was a small ide in the by-catch;
  • It is worth paying special attention to the area of treatment facilities at the thermal power plant located on the Ob River;
  • I recommend that you get to the village of Mochishche and pay attention to the tributaries of the Ob;
  • The best place for fishing in Novosibirsk is the reservoir of the same name;
  • There is a lot of fish in Berdsky Bay;
  • Near the village of Shaitik there is Lake Chany, in which there is a lot of fish;
  • The fishing reserves of Lake Sartlan are no less;
  • Particular attention should be paid to the Chulym and Kargat rivers (if there is a license, even commercial fishing with nets is allowed);
  • Fishing with a float rod is allowed on Lake Yarkul;
  • A lake called Good can be an excellent place for fishing.

Novosibirsk fishing differs from fishing in the Moscow region in not many factors, there are still a lot of fish of various types, and the presence of many places for paid and free fishing. Well, of course there is a difference in geographical location, but this is not so important.

Caught January 25, 2017 on Instrumentalny. We arrived at the reservoir at about 10 o'clock in the morning and left for lunch, at about 2 o'clock. The fish were caught only by actively playing with a jig. We tried to leave the jig on the bottom, there were bites, but not a single effective hook. Black jigs performed best. We caught it at a depth of about 4 meters.

Fishing in Novosibirsk on the Krasny Yar River. We caught them mainly using balance beams. The location was chosen not far from Krasny Yar, immediately after descending from the mountain. We got on the ice at about 11 o'clock, because when entering from the shore, a friend got his feet wet and had to return to the car. We drilled several holes right near the shore, caught a couple of dozen perches the size of a pack of cigarettes, and went on to search.

We walked around the pond a bit, made a couple of dozen holes, still didn’t catch anything, and it was decided to go to the old holes. Better change than nothing. It was decided to put up a tent in a promising place, since the weather was not very good. I hooked a crucian carp and a pike bit me; I also caught a large perch. He left the pond at about 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

Fishing in Novosibirsk on the Bugrinsky Bridge. This was my first fishing in this area, I decided to try out a spinning rod, by the way, I fished on September 8, 2016. The fishing location was chosen for a reason; it is the most promising place near my home. I fished in wading boots, since there was no boat. The weather was good, and the catch included only 1 pike, weighing about 150 grams (which I later released) and one unfortunate loss.

The Ob River was chosen as the fishing spot. Tashara. Fishing date: 09/09/2016. After a little consultation with our comrades, we decided to go catch a predator near Tashara. The interesting thing is that until about 10 am we didn’t even see a small bite, constantly moving along the river, we finally caught the first pike. The entire catch is shown in the photo, the fishing depth is approximately 4 meters.

Quite far outside the Rostov region there is the Veselovskoye Reservoir. It attracts fishermen here with its fishing spots, beautiful nature and well-organized active recreation. The reservoir is located on the Western Manych River, namely the left bank tributary of the Don. It stretches for 100 km from Veselovsky to Proletarsky hydroelectric complex. The reservoir has rugged banks that form straits and estuaries.

What types of fish live here?

The local variety of roach, the ram, must be called the most famous fish of the Veselovsky Reservoir. Compared to the roach, it has a greater body height, its length reaches 35 cm, and its scales are slightly smaller. They catch rams with float rods, and use spinning rods a little less often.

You can even catch some fairly large rams at any time of the year. The reservoir also boasts large bream, and the best time to catch them is immediately after spawning. In August there will also be an excellent bite. But in autumn everything depends on the weather. If we take into account the gear, fishermen use bottom and float rods. Bream really likes to live in holes; it doesn’t like strong currents. But it comes out to shallow water in search of food.

In a reservoir, due to its proximity to predatory fish, the most adapted crucian carp survive. So you can always catch large individuals of this species. The best bite occurs in spring. Fishermen catch crucian carp using long-distance casting gear, a feeder or a donkey. In this reservoir, silver bream is well caught. In summer, she lives in the thickets of a reservoir with a muddy bottom. But when autumn comes, it leaves the pit in a flock. The best bite is considered to be the time before spawning and immediately after it. Fishermen for white bream use a bottom or float fishing rod.

If we talk about the trophy of predatory fish, then pike perch is considered the most popular. For his camps and hunting, he always chooses a hard clay or rocky bottom with a stepped relief. The northern bank of the reservoir has large differences in depth. Therefore, many species of predatory fish live there. Walleye are a nocturnal fish, so the best time to catch them is in the pre-dawn or evening hours by jigging from a boat.

Pike begin to catch well on hooks after spring spawning and late autumn. She loves the deep, so to catch her you will need a rowing boat. Pike must be caught using wobblers on a spinning rod. She can peck throughout the day, and even better when the weather is cloudy and drizzling.

Winter fishing

Winter fishing on the reservoir is no less interesting than summer fishing. The best time to fish for ram and perch is in winter. Crucian carp and bream are also quite common. Only the bream and white bream must be fed. In places where the water is warmer, you can safely catch crucian carp using bloodworms and bait. The gustera is hooked after freezing in the first days. Here you need a float rod. Winter in this reservoir is characterized by strong, chilly winds, so peaceful fish are caught from tents.

Recreation centers

There are many comfortable recreation centers on the Veselovsky Reservoir. For example - Cool place, located three kilometers from the reservoir on the Western Manych River. There are wooden log cabins and a hotel on site for accommodation. Here you can rent fishing rods, a boat and other equipment. The price per day will be from 2000 rubles. This also includes use of the pool and parking.

The recreation center in the village of Vesely is also ready to please guests and local residents. It is located 100 km from Rostov. Comfortable rooms with all amenities. What else is needed for happiness? All this is located in a three-story guest house. Guests will enjoy fishing spots, landscaping, and boat and motorboat rentals. As for prices, they start from 3,600 rubles per day.

There is a recreation center called Vesely Manych. You will find it near the village of Merry. Guests will be able to stay in a hotel or two-story houses. There is also a VIP house. The base is designed for 45 people. Here you can get the services of a ranger, rent boats and other equipment. If we talk about the cost, it starts from 800 rubles per day. In each recreation center you can relax from the noise, smog and bustle. You will get incredible pleasure from communicating with nature. These surroundings will become your favorite place for relaxation. So hurry up and grab your seats now.

In addition to these lodges and recreation centers, tourists can enjoy the wildlife in tents. After all, no one prohibits this. Just remember to take warm clothes and shoes, as the weather can be unpredictable in some places. In the local forests you can not only catch fish, but also immediately prepare the most delicious fish soup. All you have to do is be patient and find time. All in your hands.

Video: fishing on the Veselovsky Reservoir

Spinning. Catch: more than 10 kilograms (perch 600 g)

Weather: Windy, sunny, but cool in the morning.

Tackle: Light and ultralight class spinning rods.

Good day to all readers, this time I decided to spend my fishing with my friend at the Veselovsky Reservoir, the purpose of our fishing was perch, possibly pike and pike perch. The exact place of our trip turned out to be one of the small fishing and hunting bases, on the Veselovsky reservoir, the name of the base is Zakurganaya, it is located on the shore of the reservoir, near the village of Stepnoy Kurgan, Salsky district of the Rostov region. From the city of Rostov-on-Don the road takes about two hours, since the distance is approximately 150 km. The base is very simple, the room in which we lived for 4 people, but we were the only ones there, the local watchman charged us a price of 500 rubles per person for accommodation and 100 rubles for parking a car, we have our own boat. We left Rostov at 14:30 and already at 17:45 we were in place with a pumped-up boat, an installed motor and collected gear, ready for fishing.
Day one, or rather evening. My friend and I were at this place for the first time, the basis of our fishing was as follows, I was given information about this place, approximate coordinates of where to sail and where to fish. The water area is not small, just like a reservoir, and from the base we had to swim to the opposite shore, where there is an island, if we take the approximate distance, it will be 2.5 km, we found the place right away, but we didn’t find any fish, a couple of hours before We spent the sunsets that we had in an active search for the presence of at least some kind of predator. We didn’t have an echo sounder with us and everything was based on a rough understanding of where the fish should be. Even at the base, a local guard told us that the situation with the predator had not been very good for a couple of days, there were guys before us, four days ago they caught pike perch, not a big one, but still plenty of perch. In such cases they usually say “it was cool yesterday and tomorrow.” But we didn’t lose heart and started searching, having cast a jig in a couple of places, we moved on to a slightly different fishing option, we started fishing the border of the grass, in the hope of a perch that walks under the wall of algae, as well as a possible bite from a pike. My partner in the boat, his name was Evgeniy, tried to drag rubber on a lead leash through the seaweed with access to more or less clean areas of the bottom. I, in turn, hooked on a small minu-class wobbler and ran throw after throw along the grass with twitching wiring, hoping for a bite. Evgeny soon got a bite, but the perch was not large, maximum 100 grams. 5 minutes later a fish bit me, at first I thought it was a small pike, but soon a good perch appeared on the surface, as the scales later showed, it pulled 520 gr. That evening we also caught a couple of perch, not a lot, but it was already getting dark. One positive thing we had about evening fishing was that we had identified a couple of places that we decided to go to at dawn; they seemed very promising to us. Our fishing was over for today, we returned to the base, had dinner and fell asleep over a friendly conversation.
Day two, morning. Waking up at dawn, having a quick breakfast, we go to the places we noticed yesterday at dusk. We are on the spot, trying to catch, 20 minutes and neither I nor Evgeniy got a single bite, it’s a shame, we move 50 meters to the side, we catch, a couple of perches are not large, there are still bites, but nothing large. as it turned out later, these small fish turned out to be white fish, rudd, roach and bleak. I was the first to catch a rudd with my tackle, and soon Evgeniy caught a rudd, both with rubber. Deciding to have fun catching white fish on a UL spinner, I set up a micro-oscillator and started catching small roaches almost one by one. Evgeniy also joined me and also on a micro-oscillator, so we caught about 40 minutes of mostly palm-sized roaches, rarely rudd and bleak. All this is boring, because that’s not what we’re here for. And again we try to find the perch, moving from one place to another.
Probably two hours passed, we had more than one perch, it was sad and annoying. Soon we noticed a boat with fishermen, also spinning fishermen and standing exactly in the place where we started fishing yesterday, we came closer, stood 70 meters from their boat and began to fish the place with a jig. I was immediately pleased with the bottom, there was practically no algae and it was hard with small ledges. The first bites and the first fish, perch, began in the litter. The perch began to bite, we found it, the bite turned into such that every cast, bite, if not hooked, then the next bite is 100% a fish on the hook. The perch caught the rubber very well when it was lying motionless. From the beginning, fish sizes were from 100 g. and up to 200 grams, but soon they began to come across larger and larger ones, 300 grams, 400 grams, and more. For three hours, we had a blast, our kukan was full, even very full. We had to let go of most of it, which we don’t regret at all. Having caught plenty and when the voles became fewer and fewer, we decided to finish fishing; it was 13:20 on the clock. We reached the base, picked up the boat, set it out to dry, disassembled the spinning rods and put them in tubes, had a little snack, collected the completely dry boat, deflated it, packed it, and put everything in the car. At the end of the collection there was a photo with fish on a kukan, and on the kukan there was no less than almost 12 kg. and if you translate it into quantity, it turned out to be exactly 30 perches.
The result of our fishing is this: We drove a total of about 350 km, spent one night, spent the evening and morning on the water. The first day gave us practically nothing, in terms of catch, except for my perch on a wobbler weighing a little more than half a kilo. The second day was much more productive, more emotional and more enjoyable in terms of fishing. Despite the fact that the wind was blowing all the time, we did not lose heart and found our fish. By approximate standards, we caught about 25 kg. perch, most of it was released back, the average size of the fish is 300 grams. although my friend Zhenya caught a perch at 600 grams. The perch bit on all kinds of rubber, even fairly large ones. Another plus was that we caught white fish with rubber and spoons, not large ones, but still.
The fishing was a great success, the return trip was discussed about fishing and it was also decided to visit this place again, but with the hope that the catch would include pike perch and possibly pike.

In the Rostov region, a temperate continental climate prevails, turning into an arid zone in the south. Winter lasts only 3-4 months, and it starts to get warmer in early March. Water resources make up only a small part of the region's territory. But one of the largest rivers in the European part of Russia flows here.

Briefly about the reservoir

In the Rostov region, on the Manych River (aka Western Manych), the Veselovskoye Reservoir was formed in 1941. This is a fairly large body of water. Its area is 283 square kilometers. The reservoir is located 65 kilometers southeast of Rostov-on-Don. It stretches from the village of Vesely to Manychstroy. The average depth of the Veselovsky reservoir is approximately 4 meters.

Initially, the reservoir was filled for irrigation, fish farming, navigation and electricity generation. Now the hydroelectric power station located on the Veselovsky reservoir has been dismantled. And it was closed in 1975. The artificial reservoir itself is still used for small cargo volumes of local shipping.

It is not possible to increase the flow of vessels. The main reason is that the reservoir is not deep enough. This problem is especially acute during dry periods, when water has to be transferred from Kuban through special canals.

Coastline Features

On the Veselovskoye Reservoir, waves rise during strong winds due to its size. They hit the banks and undermine them. Over time, the land line of the reservoir became quite steep. The edges often crumble, making them somewhat dangerous for tourists. To prevent large-scale sinking of land into the water, shrubs were planted along the edges of the shore to strengthen the soil.

Flora and fauna

This body of water is a place for long stopovers for migratory birds during their migration. Wild ducks, as well as herons and swans, often nest in the reed thickets along the banks of the Veselovsky Reservoir. Among the aquatic mammals, the muskrat has settled.
Around the reservoir, different types of plants grow in various gullies. Including medicinal herbs. Such as thyme, sage and motherwort. On the banks you can often meet people collecting them.

Fishing on the Veselovsky Reservoir

There is a good road leading to the reservoir. Due to its convenient location, the reservoir has become a favorite place for fishermen and hunters. There are about 30 different species of fish here. Including rare protected specimens. Such as Koktebel katran, salvinia and vallisneria. More common species include catfish, pike, sterlet and silver carp.

The area near the dam is considered the most fishy place. However, fishing is prohibited here, although some violate this instruction. But still, law-abiding fishermen do not despair and find a place for themselves on the northern shore of the reservoir. It is good because there are differences in depth, which almost one hundred percent guarantee a good catch. Large predators, such as pike perch, are found in such small pools.

Various creeks, small creeks and channels, and reed thickets are also considered fishing spots. It is best to fish from the shore with a long spinning rod or from a boat. Moreover, it is better to use water transport without a motor, since it will constantly get filled with algae and grass.

Spring fishing

In spring, quite large pike are caught in the shallows. The weight of one specimen can reach up to 7-8 kilograms. She is caught from the bottom. Also, the Veselovskoye Reservoir (Rostov region) is famous for its well-fed perch.

Fish are caught with a wide variety of bait. From bread and breadcrumbs for crucian carp and roach to worms for catfish and maggots for ram. Fishermen say that a good bite is observed near the villages of Vesely and Stepnoy Kurgan.

Winter fishing on the Veselovskoye Reservoir

Winter fishing is no less popular and interesting. At this time of year, mostly ram and perch are taken out from under the ice. Bream or crucian carp are also caught. The latter is best tracked in places with warmer water. For example, where streams flow into a reservoir. And in the first days after the ice freezes, you can catch a fish called silver bream using a regular fishing rod with a float.

It is worth remembering that in winter the Veselovskoye Reservoir does not offer pleasant weather. Strong, harsh winds arise here. Therefore, in order to avoid frostbite, some fishermen fish from tents that protect them from gusts of wind.
