What is the meaning of the game the forest. The Forest is a story of survival. The task is to search

I had a wonderful life safety teacher at school. She taught me how to determine the direction of the world by the moss on the trees, how to make a dwelling when there is an impassable thicket around; how to find food for yourself... I managed to put some things into practice, once I got lost with a full box of mushrooms in the forest.

But many years later, after playing alpha, I realized that this is not the same.

Lesson #1: Don't leave things unattended

You are not alone. Even in outer space you are not alone - let alone on a huge island. If you go even a little deeper into the thicket, you will find crowds of rabbits and lizards around you. They crawl through trees and get underfoot. They step into snares and traps, they themselves go under the ax and even climb into the fire of your fire. But don't let them fool you! If you gape, your life will hang by a thread: you threw a raw carcass on the fire, but an evil animal has already dragged it away - to eat it or, what the hell, bury it. In any case, lunch cannot be returned. That's an extra half minute of cooking!

One - there is food, two - there is no food. It's nice to know that a couple of laws of nature are already working in the alpha version.

But there is no end to the work. The birds do not react to the murdered friend and even fly to sit astride her.

Lesson #2: Finish what you start quickly

The cruel world of The Forest does not know half measures. Do you want to light a fire, build a hut or set a trap? Go to the survival guide, select the desired item - and first of all, put its layout. Then you will carry everything you need to him.

The future camp is shining. But for now this is just a mirage, and in order to bring it to life, half the island will have to be cut down. But it is necessary to build a camp. This is the only way to survive, and ideally, good protection from uninvited guests.

And it's very convenient. However, no matter how much you insert boards into the fence, until it is assembled, it does not exist. Even inserted boards can be passed through safely, which the owners of the island will be happy to take advantage of.

We cut trees by hand. If it is thick, there will be a lot of logs. Thin - a lot of branches. And there are trees that cannot be cut down. Apparently, they are there for beauty. I carry everything I have with me. The capacity of the backpack is impressive, but you still have to carry the logs in your hands.

Lesson #3: Beware of the locals, they don't like you

They really love it. But not in its raw form - which automatically leads to conflict. Cannibals are the main thing and on this moment pretty much the only problem with The Forest. Do you want them not to find you? You can hide in some miniature cave, swim to a broken yacht, or wall yourself up within four walls. Otherwise you will have to greet guests.

If on land your the main problem- people, then toothy sharks are kindly waiting in the water. The best tactic against them is to stay away.

Local people walk in small groups of three or four individuals. But the longer you sit in one place, the more often they will visit you. Don't be surprised if you see about twelve hungry savages in one frame, say, in the dead of night. If you manage to survive such an invasion, then the entire coast will be littered with bodies - but do not think that this will scare away the others.

A sleeping structure helps you stay awake and get enough sleep. But savages can always interrupt a ward’s sleep. At first, this is almost inevitable.

Lesson #4: Take advantage of your opponent's stupidity

A long stay on the island leaves its mark on a person. Firstly, the island people are shortsighted. Their vision is so poor that during the day they will only see you at point blank range. And the rumor is so lousy that they can pass by while you are cutting down a thick tree.

At such moments it seems as if the savages are completely harmless. Seems.

Perhaps the excess human meat in the diet is to blame. However, a healthy lifestyle makes cannibals incredibly resilient. A blow to the head with an ax is not an argument for them - the blow will take a long and tedious time. And at any moment the thug can take off and disappear into the thicket of the forest. It's not easy to catch up with the scoundrel. And who knows whether he will return or not! Most likely he will return. It is possible that even with friends.

The reaction speed of the locals is so-so. If you constantly weave around them and hit them non-stop with an axe, sooner or later you will fall. But he will not die immediately; first he will writhe in agony.

Intelligence local population generally ambiguous. Having received a blow to the forehead, they keep their distance, try to come to your rear, and wait for an opportune moment. At the same time, the psyche of cannibals leaves much to be desired. Like the little children from Lord of the Flies, savages place their heads on pikes everywhere, and in battle they can, carried away, run straight into a burning fire. They also love to rest their heads against the fence - it looks especially pathetic when the holopod tries to escape. It hits the wall like a moth hits a window pane.

At one point, two suspicious individuals simply came out of the forest to say hello. They were not embarrassed by the structures made from the bodies of their predecessors: the guests walked around me in circles, glaring at me. I didn’t know how to react to this, so I just kicked them with my fellow tribesman’s foot.

Lesson #5: Don't eat everything.

Rabbits and lizards are, of course, nutritious. Chocolate bars and other junk food from chests that fell from the sky too. They take up space in the stomach and restore energy (drinks do not clog the stomach). Good food It can also replenish your health, and reptile skins are used for clothing and provide additional protection from savage axes. There are also mushrooms and berries in the game, both healthy and poisonous. It is not difficult to distinguish one from the other - “bad” berries will clog your stomach, but will take away your health. And the hero will unequivocally gasp.

And something you can’t eat in principle. The hero will not dare to put raw meat in his mouth. The corpses of birds, sharks and turtles should not be touched at all. But the most questions are raised by the mortal bodies of people. Completely inedible. Why? Not quite clear. They look quite delicious!

However, bodies can be dismembered and limbs can be used as weapons or decoration.

An inedible dead shark crushed the unfortunate seagull. It is impossible to eat the way to her salvation. Even these delicious starfish are inedible.

Lesson #6: Don't be too afraid of hunger

You can not hold a crumb in your mouth for at least two weeks - and you will survive everything. Well, yes, you can’t swing an ax on an empty stomach, and you can’t run away or fight off cannibals. But you are not in danger of starvation. Perhaps the fresh sea air is so beneficial that it can feed and, most importantly, give water to the newly minted Robinson Crusoe. After all, water is not needed here at all. It would seem that the main concern of the islander is to establish supplies of fresh food, otherwise hello, dehydration! But no, all this is nonsense, rabbits with berries are enough for us.

To temporarily replenish energy, you can turn on the audio player. Upbeat music will provide several minutes of vigorous activity. In the thicket of the forest, the animal itself climbs into its mouth. But if you set up camp on the beach, hunger may become a problem: you won’t be able to catch fish.

Lesson #7: Don't be afraid to die

Once you stumble, get burned, or take second place in a duel with a savage, your life will not end there. Wherever you die, they will find you and drag you to the nearest cave, and there are many of them on the island. Why - history is silent. But you can get out of the cave and run away wherever you look. True, the number will not work the second time - “you survived N days.”

No pauses. Pressed Esc and went for a snack? They will find you, and you will return to the cave. You and the company can form - and just move once again. TO such Life safety does not prepare us. True, this Silent Hill monster does not show aggression. Maybe they haven't finished it yet.

* * *

The game is still in alpha stage (0.03), and a lot can change in the coming months. If the developers try, The Forest will not have a price. In the meantime, too many elements are either missing, unfinished, or working with flaws. There is no real need to protect yourself from cold and dirt (they promise infectious diseases), but the savages climb even too persistently, and most you spend time in the dark.

The next update will be released very soon. So let's see how many new rules will be brought to the ill-fated island!

The main idea of The Forest is survival in the forest. Main character and some other guy crashes, I don’t understand where, but obviously very far from civilization. No food, no water, no weapons - nothing. Where to go is unclear, what to do and what to do is also in question. The ax in your hands is like a hint - it’s time to craft. And okay, you just need to get food and warm yourself up on cold lonely evenings, fortunately there is enough food and firewood in the forest, but as luck would have it, the hero does not live alone in this wild place. Where the boy went and why the aggressive natives took him is a mystery.

Somewhere nearby, in dark, damp and gloomy caves, hungry cannibals are hiding, in some places resembling mutant zombies. One of them, at the very beginning of the game, drags away a wounded boy, and after that the flock of them returns for the GG. That, in principle, is the whole essence of the game. Do not die from cold, hunger, and at the same time do not become food yourself. Not new, but on trend, so to speak, and may be of interest to modern gamers.

In the game we survive, nothing more, at least for now additional features nothing is known. Maybe there will be a plot (to save the same guy) or something similar, with goals and a logical conclusion.

So far, as in the famous “survival” games, after death we are shown how many days our carcass lived in the forest, and this, most likely, is the only logical conclusion. Survival is put at the forefront and people start dancing because of it. This is fashionable now, so this scheme will most likely not change for the release.

Survival itself is more like what was demonstrated in Don’t Starve, and not in Rust, as it might seem at first. We have resources, enemies, indicators with lives, satiety, temperature, etc. So it just won’t happen. Craft. As I already wrote, we can craft, and quite a lot of all sorts of junk. Weapons, barricades, traps, scaring signs from the remains of Aboriginal people and even real houses. The construction is not block-based and not flexible at all, rather it is more like building from slabs, like in the game Rust. Now, for obvious reasons, the list of crafts is small. But they promise a decent assortment for the finale.

Horror. Here is my holey head, I forgot to write. This is also a horror game that should make the player sweat and send chills down the spine in droves. At least, that's how the developers position it. And so far, according to first impressions, the horror is turning out well. The atmosphere is the most luxurious.

Just remember the first awakening in the cave after a successful attack by the freaks. I really felt like the hero of that horror movie “The Descent,” when tourist cave divers perished under the attacks of blind ghouls deep underground.

It’s dark, cold, hungry, and this damn lighter is about to go out, leaving the player alone with the darkness and the creatures living there. Thanks to the phenomenal quality graphics, all these effects are achieved very quickly. For such projects, by the way, the picture is too overdressed, in the good sense of the word. Partly. At the moment, The Forest is not just an alpha, it’s more like a deep beta version, where nothing really works. I wouldn’t recommend buying the game now, it’s not just crude, it’s not really put together yet. Some textures haven’t been screwed in yet, the water doesn’t work, the combat system is lame, and I’m generally silent about the amount of content.

At the moment, the frame of the game and its engine are for sale, which demonstrates the direction of development, nothing more. And judge for yourself, receiving content bit by bit from updates, will you be able to enjoy the game? Most likely when it comes out full version, those who have played enough alpha will not be able to get the desired sensations in full.

The Forest is definitely an interesting project. It's really worth waiting for its final version, but for now, limit yourself to watching the video and go racing in Rust. If I couldn’t convince you, then you need to look for it on steam.

The topic of today's review is The Forest project. The question "How to find my son?" Quite often asked by many gamers who have already experienced the entire intricate plot of the game. Today we will talk to you about what kind of toy this is and how you can answer the question about the search.

Tangled plot

Before talking about The Forest project, how to find your son and where he is hiding, let's see what kind of game this is. The plot begins with the main character (let's call him Ben) flying in a half-empty plane somewhere with his offspring. At the same time, he is watching some horror movie on his laptop. Non-existent film. Suddenly the plane crashes. He is torn to pieces, but Ben and his son manage to escape. The main character sees a native taking his child somewhere.

This is how The Forest begins. "Where can I find my son?" - a question that arises, as we see, from the first minutes. If you look around, you will notice that around “our” wreckage of the plane there are things of other passengers lying around. In total, about 130 people and crew were supposed to be on board. Ben realizes that he is “almost” and has to look for his child. So, the central idea becomes the main question of The Forest: “How to find my son, and what happened to him?” But in reality, not everything is so simple.

Oddities

Now you have to explore the crash site and look for your child. True, there is still the task of finding all the survivors (the dead are also counted). Places where people have already been are so-called camps. Each time Ben finds them, you will have a "meter" showing the number of survivors.

Upon first appearance in such world The Forest, where it will be very difficult to find your son, you will begin to find tennis balls that will accompany the player throughout the game. After wandering around a little, you will be able to find a special card, thanks to which the secret of the balls will be revealed. In the young part of the island there is the so-called Tennis place (they just took the boy from the plane).

We continue our review of the game The Forest. How to find my son? What needs to be done? With such questions, the main character rushes to the place Tennis and discovers the answer to the balls found there. Namely, the mutilated bodies of their friends and tennis comrades. Here it becomes clear that the entire team was on the plane and was flying somewhere. For some fees. The plot begins to seem even stranger. Let's see what's going on here.

Where is the boy?

Of course, the central question of The Forest is “Where can I find my son?” After Ben discovers the bodies of his comrades, the plot changes dramatically.

The fact is that the main character always wanted to have a family. However, he devoted quite a lot of time to sports and had practically no time for family matters. So, one day the coach called him to a training camp and competition. Ben fell asleep on the plane - this is where our game presumably begins. Thus, everything that happened before the crash was just a dream. There was no son named Timmy, and the illusions are confirmed by watching a non-existent horror film. That is, the answer to The Forest’s question “How to find my son?” can be expressed in one word - “no way”.

True, this option is just an assumption of some players. The only truth here is that Ben is a tennis player. The rest is hypotheses put forward by fans. The developers did not give any explanations. There is another assumption about what is happening here and how to find the boy.

Is the impossible possible?

All that is known now is that during the entire existence of the game, no one ever found the boy, and also did not see the final credits. It turns out that all this time the players are simply wandering around the world in search of adventure.

If we adhere to the second point of view regarding the plot, then Timmy can be found. True, for this you need to complete a number of tasks. For example, find all passengers on an airliner. However, at the alpha testing stage there is no such opportunity yet - the map is too small.

However, there are a number of assumptions about what to do after you have already searched the entire island. According to some players, all passengers need to be found and killed, after which we find our son in The Forest, build a raft and fly away from the cursed island. Thus, the opinions of the players are already divided.

In addition, you can come across statements that say that the game does not and will not have any plot at all. Unless the main character grows old and dies. Well, or the whole point will be the most ordinary survival among the natives and unknown creatures. So the question about The Forest is: "Where is the son?" - still remains open.

The Forest review is based on materials from open sources, and the assessment is based on the project’s subjective opinion about the game.

In 2014, another survival game appeared in early access - The Forest, created by a small team at Endnight Games. After a long development, in 2018, it reached release. Another game from the survival series. Has she achieved her goals and is she worth it now? Let's take a look at The Forest together in this review.

First of all, it's worth keeping in mind that this game stands a little apart from the rest of the survival game series because it has a solid story line with a beginning and an end. The reason for the start of your adventures is explained quite clearly and clearly, without any omissions. You are flying on a plane with your son. Everything seems to be going well, but a plane crash occurs and the plane crashes. When you wake up, you discover that your son is missing. And he didn’t just disappear, but was kidnapped by the natives, and you are on the island. This is where your adventures begin.

The walk through the forest begins

As the name The Forest suggests, we will survive in... the forest! Unexpected, right? Moreover, unlike most games, where trees are scattered across the map, figuratively, in groups of five, here is a real forest. Nature, numerous plants and trees around, all this is your only salvation. The forest is your last defense against the mysterious creatures inhabiting the island. You will very quickly realize that you are not alone here, and the local fauna is by no means hospitable. The survival guide will teach you the basics of crafting, how to create a fire, temporary shelter, and more. For crafting, the forest resources around you are used: trees, stones, leaves. On a global scale, everything around you will be beneficial.

The natives living in this area consider this place as their refuge, as well as the area around it. And then suddenly they hear the sounds of your presence, for example, the fall of a tree you cut down. Know! The countdown to your survival has begun. Typically, there will be one native at first who will watch you from afar or follow you unnoticed through the forest and, if you decide to get curious and get closer, will run away. But later, the next day or even at night, a whole group will appear that will watch and put up their creepy totems, as if to show that you are not welcome here. But don't be upset, this is true.

In fact, you are not welcome here. And the sooner you understand this, the longer you can save your life before they come for you to take your unconscious body to their cave and eat you alive. Very soon you will realize that there is not one, but two tribes, very different from each other. Some people are cannibals, others are mutants. This will not bring you joy, since both are equally aggressive, with the only difference being that mutants leave the caves only at night.

What to do in the forest?

The goal remains the same: danger exists and you need to protect yourself. And once you wake up among the wreckage of the plane, your first order of business is to find a safe place for your base. Whether it will be high on the rocks, on a raft in the middle of a lake or on a tree - the choice is yours, any option is possible. But this must be done quickly, because the night is dangerous. Night in the game is really pitch-black darkness. It is impossible to hunt, obtain resources, or even defend yourself. You will need to place various torches and various traps to protect yourself and your home. Know that, in addition to simple mutants and cannibals, one day terrible monsters will come to you, which can destroy all your fortifications. Be prepared and.. Good luck!

The most effective tactic would be to perform as many activities as possible during the day - hunting, collecting resources, investigating the disappearance of your son. And continue building the base at night, especially since resources can be stored for this. Throughout the island you will find various clues for the development of the story: notes, notes, cameras. As well as tools for your survival, for example, a chainsaw, gasoline, an ax. There are a lot of possible structures for construction in The Forest, but some require rare objects, such as rope, batteries, etc.

Don't let yourself die

A review of The Forest revealed that the best loot is found in caves, accessible through all sorts of gaps, wells, or even underwater tunnels. But in the caves, remember, the jokes are over. And be prepared to run very fast. The more days pass, the more adrenaline in the world of The Forest. You can easily get lost, especially at night. And since the temperature can drop very quickly, you need to hurry before you die from hypothermia. The same goes for hunger and thirst. Always think about taking something to consume during your explorations, otherwise your stamina will drop and you won't have the strength to defend yourself or escape.

Although the game was developed by only four people, it is quite good in detail. It has its own atmosphere and very good sound design. The forest is truly alive. Naturally, there are some bugs, but updates for the game are still coming out and the game is changing, and not at all for the worse. As evidenced by the various screenshots that dot this review, the game is beautiful and the atmosphere really works 100%

The Forest review is coming to an end, but before you head out to play, you might want to take a look at The Forest's minimum and recommended system requirements.

☻☻☻Dedicated to fans of The Forest☻☻☻ So, I thought for a long time about the plot of not only the ending, but also the game in general, and I want to talk about how the plot of the game unfolded for me: I would be glad for discussions, additions or another point of view☺ Perhaps somewhere the narration will be confusing, and some words will be repeated. I wrote under the impression after completing the game 😱

◄Once upon a time, the artifacts fell on the island, or they were originally there, underground and inside the mountain, left by another civilization (the plot itself is somewhat reminiscent of the film “The Thing” about these artifacts, and the bunker is a reference to Lost). Finding pieces of the puzzle, you can understand that these artifacts were encountered by travelers from the time of Columbus, or even more ancient. Scientists from the Sahara company built their own research complex (bunker) on the island around these artifacts, and brought many employees there to study the properties of these artifacts, but as we understand, the matter was not limited to research, and experiments began to be carried out. It seems to me that experiments were first carried out over the indigenous population of the island, who were, let’s say, normal natives, with a slight tendency towards cannibalism, not mutants, and after experiments on human DNA, with the help of the first artifact, mutations began. Most likely, experiments on adult samples were not as effective as we would like, and experiments began to be carried out on children. In the bunker you can find a slideshow showing the results of mutations in a 12-year-old and a 6-year-old child, as well as children’s boxes that use for newborns, from whom these little mutant children then turned out. All this, of course, was classified as “top secret” and employees were forbidden to leave the island, but as we can understand, many uninitiated employees, having learned the terrible secret about experiments on people and mutations, tried to escape from the island, or committed suicide. Often we find in caves or other places there are corpses in front of crucifixes with bibles, most likely the employees of the Sahara were trying to atone for their sins. We also find a corpse on a yacht, there are also crucifixes and so on, and also there we can find children’s toys and an advertisement about missing children, and we will find a lot of these advertisements. It can be assumed that the child of that poor fellow on the yacht, and other children, were kidnapped for experiments when the samples ran out. There is a small theory about where the mountain of corpses came from in the cave behind the Sugar containers. This is where we found the key card. The first option was the mass extermination of opponents of the experiments, and I’ll tell you the second option a little later.

◄According to the law of the genre, an emergency occurred in this research base, the experiment and experimental samples went out of control and destroyed everything (it’s clear that there is chaos in the bunker, broken glass, overturned furniture, etc.), killed almost all the scientists they reached, and fled across a system of caves all over the island, and that mountain of corpses where we found the key card is something like a food warehouse for mutants, where they drag victims. We also found abandoned camps on the island, most likely those who survived the incident at the base tried to survive, but also died, either at the hands of the aborigines, or they were killed by mutants. One of the surviving employees is Matthew Cross (the red man) himself. I assume that he was one of the scientists who worked directly with the artifact itself, which resurrects, and with the artifact that shoots down planes (planes were shot down for safety reasons and to obtain new samples for experiments). During an incident where things get out of control, his daughter accidentally dies, and the grief-stricken father wants to resurrect her, for which he needs a living specimen about the same age as his daughter. Matthew goes to the second artifact and lo and behold, just at that moment a plane flies nearby...

◄The plane in which my son and I are flying. The main character and Timmy. And another 50 people who will die and whose corpses we will then find all over the island... Our plane crashes and at the very beginning of the game we see Matthew (the red man, he smeared himself with paint most likely to scare local residents islands) takes our son Timmy. And from that moment on, all we do after the plane crash is survive, explore the island, look for our son, and piece by piece collect information about what the hell is happening around.?

So... THE LONG-awaited FINALE OF THE WHOLE STORY... In the end, after fighting the cannibals for the last piece of meat, cutting down half of the forest and after we climbed the island up and down, all the threads lead us to the bunker under the crater. And then the horror begins, everything that we vaguely suspected, and something that we couldn’t even imagine, falls out on us as soon as we get there. Having walked through the bunker destroyed by mutants, we eventually find our son, BUT it is too late. Matthew Cross used our son to resurrect his daughter Megan. We take Timmy out of the artifact, and it dawns on us that we can revive him with the help of this same infernal machine... But we need to push someone into this machine.. Nearby lies a dead red aborigine (Matthew), who gave us an unforgettable vacation on an island with mutants and cannibals, and let our son go to waste. And how surprised we are to see that he is all covered with... crayons for drawing... Apparently Megan was not very happy about her dad returning from the other world. Further, following the red footprints of children's feet, we find this same girl, she draws and plays cutely with airplane, but something is wrong with her.. She begins to convulse.. Confirming our fears, Megan sharply mutates into a huge disgusting creature that we have to kill. After that, we take her body to the resurrection artifact, but the system gives us a message that we need a living sample. A second key card falls out of Megan's hand, which opens the door to the second artifact (it is in the bunker that we learn that the second artifact exists). We go there, again walking through a mountain of corpses former employees Sugars. And in the end we find ourselves on the upper level of the base, which is located in the mountains, and reaching the room with the second artifact and the control panel. Someone who used the artifact left all the settings and the work panel unlocked. Yes, Matthew?? We shoot down a plane flying over the island in order to obtain a living sample to resurrect our son... Thus, repeating Cross’s act. At the moment there is a feeling that this is a vicious circle, or a time loop, it’s not just that we found a magazine on the yacht, presumably with the main character on the cover.. The question remains in the air - what is real and what is not.. Next darkness…

◄A year passes. The main character and his living son came as guests to a TV show, therefore the main character resurrected his son and safely left this damned island with him. Standing backstage we look at Timmy, something is clearly wrong with him... his muscles are contracting strangely. But for now we don’t pay much attention to this. On the TV show we find out that we have written the book “Rescued”. Apparently about how we survived on that island. We are asked to show how we cut down trees. The main character and the presenter go to two specially installed logs and begin to chop them. But suddenly something starts to happen behind us, we see that the presenter is scared of something, and people in the hall start screaming... We turn around at the screams and see Timmy, he begins to shake, he falls to the floor and his body convulses... Right like Megan in that hellish bunker... Darkness.. We did not run away from the horror that permeated the island, we brought it with us...
