In this article I will tell you and show you the Maldivian resort Niyama Private Islands Maldives, in which there is nothing to complain about at all, except perhaps the price tag. Yes, it bites, but everything here is so cool that it’s immediately clear that it’s worth it!
The Niyama Private Islands Maldives hotel is located on private islands - there are 2 islands per hotel - Play and Chill!
And all of its, without exaggeration, luxurious villas are located either on the water or on the beach line with direct access to the azure sea!
Looking ahead, I will say that the holiday in Niyama met all expectations, only 3 days in such a place is, of course, very little, I really didn’t want to leave at all!
So, now I’ll tell you in more detail about all the features and features of the Niyama Private Islands Maldives hotel.
1. The road to Niyama itself is a whole adventure!! You can get here from the international airport by seaplane, the journey takes 1 hour. The flight itself is something! By the way, in the Maldives there is even such an excursion as a seaplane flight, but here it’s just a type of transfer to the hotel :)
2. There are stunning villas on the water, with swimming pools and terraces, some of the villas have direct access to the ocean, from the terrace of such a villa you can’t see anything at all except the endless surface of the sea!
3. At the Niyama Private Islands Maldives hotel, all villas on land have their own access to the beach to the sea, and accordingly, they all have a view of the sea!
4. There is a surf spot on one of the islands; some of the villas are equipped just for those guests who travel with a personal surfboard. There are waves here all year round!
5. Nice swimming pools with gazebo, sun loungers and restaurant service.
6. Nine restaurants with a variety of cuisines - from Mediterranean to African.
It is in Niyama Private Islands Maldives, at a depth of 6 meters, that one of the most unusual underwater restaurants in the Maldives is located - SUBSIX.
Our room/villa
We lived in the simplest, but at the same time, the most popular room category among Russian tourists - a Beach Studio villa, with direct access to the beach overlooking the sunrise.
The room is simply huge - 135 sq. m, where there is everything you need! Luxurious interior in white and red colors,
Comfortable soft king size bed,
which was decorated for our arrival :)
Huge TV with Bose sound system, nice work desk and minibar with full size refrigerator, coffee machine and even a popcorn maker.
The villa has a stunning Balinese-style bathroom, where in addition to an enclosed shower and a bathtub for two, there is an open-air rainfall shower!
They didn’t forget about our baby here, they not only set up a crib for him, but also brought him a small bathtub, a baby towel, changing supplies, a set of baby cosmetics, tiny slippers and molds for playing in the sand.
The terrace, I even want to write about it separately!
There was a swing on the terrace,
Temik especially liked it!
And in general it turned out that it’s very pleasant to spend time on the terrace,
It’s not hot at all, it’s even fresh and there’s a view of the sea :) but if you want to sunbathe, then just take 2 steps - personal sun loungers are always at your disposal,
Well, and the beach with the sea is only 10 m away!

Also in the hotel, studio villas with a swimming pool are very popular, the villas themselves are exactly the same as ours, only in front of the terrace there is also a swimming pool where you can swim either under the moon or during the daytime and admire the turquoise sea directly from it!
If you choose a room for a family with 2 children or just a group, then there are even more spacious villas with 2 bedrooms, large terraces and huge swimming pools.
The most desirable and expensive are water villas!
All of them have swimming pools, there are studios, villas with one bedroom, two bedrooms, and presidential suites with incredible views and access to the ocean,
surrounded by blue to the horizon.
Beach area
Besides the fact that each villa has its own piece of snow-white sand and azure water,
each island also has a public beach area with gazebo,
sun loungers like on the beach,
and by the pool.
Infinity pools
It is convenient to sit on such a beach immediately after breakfast, since it is served in just these two places.
It is there that you can engage in various water sports, ride a board, ride a water scooter
or canoe,
or just watch the seaplanes land,
yes, and just enjoy the turquoise colors of the Indian Ocean.
I even liked just walking on the beach,
You can easily walk around Play Island leisurely, in 30-40 minutes, right along the beach.
At the tip of Chill Island there is another recreation area - a surf spot, you can already see the waves!
There is also a cafe with sun loungers
and a swing :)
There is also an unusual surf cemetery; famous surfers leave their broken boards here as a souvenir.
All resort guests have personal bicycles,
after all, it’s convenient to move around the island on them, although Temik and I preferred walking,
Well, you could always call a buggy, each guest is assigned a specific butler (butler), it is he who will arrive in a buggy and take him where he needs to go, and in general you can contact him with any question, it’s very convenient!
In general, all the staff are very friendly and welcoming!
Restaurants
The restaurants in Niyama are very different, and this is a godsend for a gourmet; of course, you want to visit each one, especially since each restaurant has its own feature, its own concept, and the hotel has 9 restaurants in total!
BLU – here you can taste Mediterranean cuisine,
this is a very nice place to have lunch and breakfast by the pool overlooking the sea.
Breakfasts here are held in a very relaxed atmosphere; couples without children prefer to come here.
One of the special features is the sandy floor; coming here barefoot is a real pleasure, which we actually did with great pleasure during lunch!
Food can also be served on the outdoor terrace
and at gazebo.
EPICURE – international cuisine by the infinity pool,
We went here for the breakfast buffet.
The selection is excellent – freshly squeezed juices and blue cheeses, many variations of hot dishes and various cold snacks, pastries, fresh fruit and my favorite “superfood” section.

FAHRENHEIT - a bar with a luxurious terrace on the floor above EPICURE, open mainly late in the evening and at night - there is live music and amazing views of the Indian Ocean! Once a week, the hotel management hosts parties with free cocktails, where they invite all resort guests to join and “hang out” together in an informal atmosphere.
DUNE is a nice cafe on the beach next to the same pool as EPICURE. During the day, it’s nice to have a snack here in the shade, and in the evening, sit with a cocktail, admiring the ocean.
EDGE – haute cuisine right in the middle of the ocean, this is an exclusive restaurant half a kilometer from the shore, accessible only by boat.
NEST is an Asian kitchen with tables, both in the garden under the crowns of giant trees, and right on them, at a height of 6 m above the ground, as if in nests between the branches of a tropical forest.
The restaurant offers Chinese, Thai and Indonesian cuisines. We dined at the teppanyaki table, with the chef preparing everything right in front of us.
So it was not just a dinner, but a whole culinary show! The lobster was to die for!
DELI is a small cafe-corner with a wide variety of delicious quick snacks and cocktails from the barista.
TRIBAL is a signature restaurant, a feature of Niyama, the only restaurant in the Maldives with cuisine from Africa, Central and South America, all dishes are prepared in the style of haute cuisine.
At the entrance, visitors are greeted by Maasai warriors; all the paraphernalia and decorations come directly from these countries, and the cooks, by the way, are also from there.
We even dined here twice, the menu is quite interesting, it amazes with its variety, the atmosphere is very warm - pleasant music, sounds of the jungle and a gentle breeze from the ocean, because the restaurant’s space is semi-open.
SUBSIX is perhaps the most unusual and memorable restaurant in the Maldives; people even come here specially from other hotels! Not even so much to enjoy the cuisine, although it is especially good here, there are only 2 sets to choose from on the menu (meat and fish with seafood).
People come here for new sensations, to dive to a depth of 6 m and enjoy the underwater world right at the table while having lunch or dinner!
Waiting for the order was not at all tiring, and the time passed very quickly while looking at the fish. Temik also liked the underwater kingdom. When we had lunch here, the water, alas, was not clear, but they say that with good visibility here you can see moray eels and schools of butterfly fish, as well as see a sea turtle and parrot fish.
The restaurant is located on the same platform as EDGE, so to get to it from the hotel you also need to first go by boat, and then go down into the bunker a couple of floors down,
and find yourself right inside the ocean in the middle of all this beauty! By the way, a couple of times a week the SUBSIX restaurant turns into a nightclub with lights, music, a DJ, and all this fun takes place against the backdrop of a sea reef!
And in Niyama you can order a “culinary excursion” (outside dinner), and here everything will be according to your taste and choice - a barbecue in your own garden, or a romantic dinner on the shore of a desert island or a gastronomic trip on an unusual dhoni boat, in general, whatever you want!
Entertainment
In the evening or in bad weather, you can while away the time in the game rooms, there are table tennis, billiards, darts, golf, table football, rooms with simulators and Xbox game consoles, or you can spend time usefully in the fitness room, which, by the way, is open around the clock.
There is also a space for quiet relaxation, where you can read a book, watch a DVD or surf the Internet with a cup of tea or coffee.
They also haven’t forgotten about entertainment for children, including the little ones, starting from infancy - this is a huge Explorers gaming club with playgrounds, slides, trampolines in the fresh air and a lot of entertaining indoor games, this is one of the best and the largest children's clubs in the Maldives.
And of course, you can always relax and unwind in the SPA; massage in houses by the water will give you endless pleasure and bliss.
