For many passengers, boarding Aeroflot planes and checking in for a flight raises many questions. It is not always clear when to arrive at the airport and what actions to take before the aircraft departs. It is important to understand that the process of registering passengers and boarding them takes more time when compared with a similar process at a train station or bus stop. This is due to the need to go through security and baggage checks. Below we will look at how long it takes to board, as well as when to arrive to avoid being late for your flight.

Checking in for a flight at the airport

Check-in for the flight begins a few hours before departure, but in order not to get stuck in traffic, it is better to leave for the airport in advance, especially if you are going to the airport on a weekend, during rush hour. Also keep in mind that during busy seasonal airports, a large queue may form at the entrance to the airport during the initial screening of passengers.

As soon as you enter the airport building, look for the electronic signage and, if necessary, baggage carts.

The electronic board is usually located not far from the entrance to the airport. You need to find your flight on the board - usually the flights on the board are arranged in order of departure. If your flight is not yet displayed on the board, this means that check-in has not yet begun and you should just wait a little. If check-in for a flight has already begun, you will see a corresponding mark on the board. The check-in counter numbers for your flight will also be indicated there. Prepare your passport, tickets and go to the check-in counters.

Check-in for domestic flights

  • carried out at the domestic air terminal
  • Check-in begins 1.5-2 hours and ends 30 minutes before departure.

Check-in for international flights

  • carried out at the international air terminal
  • starts 2.5-3 hours and also ends 40 minutes before departure time.

Business and First Class passengers always check in at separate counters or out of line. You will be given a boarding pass at the check-in counters. It will contain your seat number on the plane and your gate number. Your luggage will be weighed, a special tag will be attached to it and sent to the conveyor belt, and you will receive a baggage receipt.

On your way to the exit you will need to go through customs and passport control.

Electronic check-in for a plane

How to automatically check in for a flight online

You can check in for a flight online on the websites of airlines, major airports and air ticket sales services. Air passengers flying from almost all major airports now already have this opportunity.

Ticket Aero also provides its customers with the service of online check-in for flights and selection of seats in the aircraft cabin. The service becomes available immediately after the plane ticket is booked.

We will automatically check you in for your flight as soon as online check-in begins. After successful registration, we will send boarding passes by e-mail (you will need this document to board the plane). At the airport you will only need to check in your luggage and board the plane. We will try to seat you by the window or by the aisle if there are free seats.

How to check in for a flight online yourself

Before using the Internet check-in for a flight on the airline or airport website, check the start and end times of check-in. You can find out the exact opening time of online check-in on the airline’s website or by phone. As a rule, online check-in begins one day before and ends 90 minutes before flight departure.

  1. Go to the website of the airport from which your flight departs.
  2. Open the section on the website called “online registration”, “web registration”, etc.
  3. Find your airline in the list of airlines that allow their passengers to check in online.
  4. In the registration window that opens, fill in the appropriate fields of the form: indicate your flight number, air ticket number, departure date, your passport details, luggage availability, etc.
  5. Check the details entered in the form and select the seat you want to occupy on the plane.
  6. Check in and receive your boarding pass in the form of a barcode on the electronic device (smartphone, tablet, other devices) specified when booking your ticket. During pre-flight security, airport security will scan your boarding pass from the device screen. If desired, you can print out your electronic boarding pass and present it at security.

    Attention! Not all airports in Russia have the necessary equipment installed to work with electronic boarding passes. In this case, you must present a printed boarding pass.

If you are traveling with luggage, you can drop it off at the baggage counter designated for self-check-in passengers.

How to check in for a flight using a mobile phone or tablet

If your phone or tablet has internet browser capability, you can also check in for your flight online. Filling out personal data is carried out in the same way as registering using a computer. But in this case, instead of sending the boarding pass for printing, the system will send an SMS to your mobile device, which will contain a matrix (two-dimensional) barcode.

After arriving at the airport, you must present your electronic boarding pass on electronic media or in printed form during security screening.

Electronic check-in at the airport through the terminal

You can also complete electronic check-in directly at the airport, in a terminal specially designed for this purpose. Registration is carried out in the same way as the previous options. You simply enter the required data and receive a ready-made electronic or printed boarding pass.

You can read more about how electronic online check-in for a plane takes place.

A trip on vacation is always accompanied by excitement and anxiety. After all, before leaving, you need to do a lot: buy things, pack your bags, and most importantly, not be late for your flight. And to do this, you need to know exactly how long it takes to check in for a plane.

Check-in for a flight: what is it?

If you have never used airline services, then most likely you have no idea how many minutes it takes to check in for a plane. And the very word “registration” for such passengers hides many incomprehensible moments.

It is always necessary to register before a flight; absolutely all passengers undergo this procedure. With its help, airlines track which of those who bought tickets used their services and still made the flight. In the event of a flight being missed or other unforeseen situations, the carrier company's employees will always be able to answer all questions about their passengers on board. In addition, upon check-in, each person is given a boarding pass, which indicates the row and seat in the cabin.

All information after registration is stored in a computer database. After each flight, the information is sent to archival storage and remains there for several years.

Check-in rules

Frequent flyers know exactly when check-in for a plane ends. In addition, it is necessary to keep in mind that the registration time period for different airlines may differ significantly from each other. Each air carrier has its own regulations, which clearly regulate how long it takes to check in for a plane. Aeroflot, for example, can set its own rules, but Bangkok Airways can set absolutely the opposite rules. Therefore, before ordering a taxi to the airport, be sure to find out the registration rules established by your airline operator.

In addition, some airports also contribute to the formation of such rules. Many international airports subject all carriers to their own rules and regulations. All these nuances must be clearly understood when finding out how long it takes to check-in for your particular airline’s plane.

What happens during registration?

The check-in process itself does not take much time. Most often, adding passengers to the list and determining a seat in the cabin is a five-minute process. If you have luggage consisting of several bags with you, then this will be checked in separately. A special tag corresponding to your boarding pass is affixed to your items. At some airports, these tags are checked when passengers receive baggage; at others, control officers do not interfere with this process.

Do I need to arrive at the airport a few hours before checking in for my flight?

Many novice travelers, even knowing exactly how long before the plane’s departure check-in ends, still spend several extra hours at the airport. This is due to the fact that they are very afraid of missing their flight and do not plan their route from home to the airport correctly. It is worth noting that this habit is common to many inexperienced tourists, but later they begin to manage their time more competently.

You should not arrive at the airport in advance; you will still not be able to check in for the plane ahead of schedule. And waiting can tire you even before boarding the plane, so the best time to arrive at the airport will be either the beginning of check-in or the end of it, when the bulk of passengers have already entered the waiting room.

What do you need to bring with you during registration?

No less important than knowing how many hours before check-in for a plane ends, you need to have information about the package of documents for this process. If you are flying on vacation with the whole family, then you must have flight tickets and identification documents in your hands. For children, this will be a birth certificate. If a child flies abroad with one of the parents, at registration you may be asked for permission to travel, signed by the other parent.

How long does it take to check in for a plane: domestic flights

Keep in mind that the check-in closing time also depends on your flight destination. This must be taken into account along with the rules of the airline and the regulations of the airport from which you will be flying.

Domestic flights have their own check-in rules. On average, according to all-Russian standards, check-in for domestic flights opens two hours and ends forty minutes before the expected departure.

How long does it take to check-in for an international flight?

For flights flying outside of Russia, there are different standards. Of course, in certain cases there may be some discrepancy in time. But in general, check-in for international flights begins three hours and ends forty-five minutes before departure. This time interval is considered an average, so you should always check the airline and airport rules.

Online registration - what is it?

Recently, online check-in for flights has become very popular. It is especially often used by young people who are well versed in computer programs. The essence of online check-in is simple: every passenger can, without leaving home, check in for a flight and then calmly drive up to the airport just before boarding.

Online registration takes place on the carrier company’s website. The passenger must enter his ticket number in a special field, thereby confirming his intention to fly. During online check-in, passengers can select suitable seats for themselves. This is especially convenient if the whole family is traveling and wants to sit next to each other during the flight.

After online check-in, the boarding pass number is sent to the e-mail specified by the passenger. It must be printed out and presented to the airline staff upon boarding along with your passport.

Features of online registration

Like the regular check-in process for a flight, online check-in has a number of features. First of all, you need to take into account that baggage cannot be checked in online. Therefore, if you have several bags with you, you will still have to wait in line in front of the registration desk. Only there will airline employees weigh your luggage and issue tags for it.

Online registration also has its own specific framework. How long does it take to check in for a plane online? It depends on the air carrier. But usually it opens a day before departure and ends forty-five minutes before landing. In some cases, the airline opens check-in two days in advance. You can find out this information on the airline operator’s website. Some websites selling tickets immediately inform their customers about the online check-in time.

Advantages

Those who fly very often always choose online check-in for their flight. It has two clear advantages over the usual form of filling out documents for airline employees. First of all, the passenger should not stand in queues in front of the registration counter. Usually the waiting time stretches for several hours. At home, you can safely perform all the manipulations via the Internet and only then go to the airport.

In addition, many passengers note that online check-in allows them to choose their own seat on the plane. This is very convenient if you have special preferences. For example, many people tolerate a trip well only when they are at the window. Therefore, they always try to book these particular places. Online check-in makes it possible to get exactly the seat that the passenger really needs.

Please note that during regular check-in, first class passengers are served first. The rest have to wait indefinitely. With online confirmation, you can receive the highest level of service with an economy class ticket in hand.

What to do if you are late?

Despite clear planning, life can sometimes make adjustments to a traveler’s plans. Even those who know perfectly well how long it takes to check in for a plane can be late for the airport. After all, on the road you can get into an accident, get stuck in a traffic jam, or simply get the time wrong. How to be in this case?

Of course, airline employees, having closed check-in, are not obliged to help you. But in many cases they accommodate passengers halfway. Especially if it is a family with children. To do this, you need to go to the check-in counter and talk with representatives of the air operator, explaining the reason for being late.

In case of refusal, passengers can call the shift attendant and try to open registration through him. More often than not, these measures are effective.

If you have already checked in for your flight online, but for some reason are late for boarding, you can be sure that they will be waiting for you for some time. Airline employees are conducting search operations and may delay the flight for up to half an hour. If the passenger does not appear at the airport during this time period, the plane flies away without him.

Of course, a person cannot remember all the rules that exist in the world. But if you are going on vacation, then you simply need to study all the nuances that are introduced by your air carrier. This way you will be absolutely sure when check-in for your flight ends and you will not be late for the airport.

Flying on an airplane is quite exciting for many people. This is especially true for the first flight, when a person does not know what to do or where to go. In order not to rush around the entire airport in search of the required seat, it is worth studying in advance what actions will need to be taken for check-in and boarding. There are a number of requirements for passengers traveling on domestic and international flights. In the latter case, the requirements are much higher.

What is a boarding pass and where to get it

A boarding pass is a document that confirms the right to board an airplane. It can be obtained after registration. It can be completed in mode or in the airport building. If the passenger decides to register via the Internet, the coupon will be available for printing from a PC or other mobile device. Next, you will need to print it out to present it to specialists at a special counter. If the document is damaged or lost for some reason, you can print it again.

The ticket contains the following information:

  1. Flight number.
  2. Number and location of the seat in the aircraft cabin.
  3. The time when boarding begins and ends.
  4. Gate number for passengers to board the plane.

Important! Your boarding pass and passport should always be on hand so that airport security staff can make sure that you are a passenger and not a random person who decided to walk around the airport terminal.

Registration procedure

Having a plane ticket is the right to use the flight. But you can use the right, or you can not use it. That is why, in order to board an aircraft, you must pre-register and receive a boarding pass. Here's what's included:

Sometimes this whole process takes a long time. This is why it is recommended to arrive at the airport 3-4 hours before departure, despite the fact that check-in starts 2 hours before.

Important! If you are late for, you can pass it at a special counter for latecomers. But this service is relevant for those who did not have time to register and came a few minutes after the registration process was completed. If this happens after 15-20 minutes, then boarding the airliner will be denied.

If the airline's rules imply the ability to return or exchange an unused ticket for another, you should exercise this right. However, for Russia this is rarely relevant. But American airlines allow you to board the next plane that flies to the city you need, despite being late for the plane for which you bought the ticket.

How to register online

Many people register online today. It's much faster and easier. In addition, there is no need to waste time waiting at the airport. People who check in electronically often arrive at the airport an hour later than the recommended time.

To complete the procedure, you will need to go to the official website of the airline and select the required flight. It is there that you can register in a special window. Some airlines accept a photo of your boarding pass from your phone, but this is not always the case. It is worth checking in advance whether you can provide a photo.

The sooner a passenger checks in, the greater his chances of getting the best seat. It usually starts a day before departure. Some operators open it 2-3 days before departure. It closes in 45 minutes.

Important features of passenger boarding

The boarding pass contains all the necessary information for passengers. To avoid problems during boarding, it is recommended to approach the desired gate 5-10 minutes in advance. You also need to make sure the gate and landing time are correct.

Passengers will be required to present their passport and boarding pass upon boarding. And if we are talking about an international flight, then also a visa and a passport. After passing the gate, you board the plane. It is carried out by delivery by bus or through a special sleeve that connects the aircraft to the airport terminal. On board, flight attendants will help you find the right seat and tell you how to behave during takeoff, landing and the flight itself.

Time frame

Not all airports begin and end boarding at the same time. However, there are some rules that apply to all airports. Below is a table with an approximate schedule.

It all depends on passenger traffic. The larger it is, the more time is allocated for registration and boarding.

Rules of conduct at the airport for beginners

Once you arrive, there is no need to panic. If this is your first flight, then follow the information boards and various signs. If they are not enough, then you can contact airport security specialists. They will help you figure out where to go, and also tell you how to correctly read the information on the board. It is recommended to read several useful articles in advance in order to clearly develop an action plan.

Here's what to do when you get to the airport:

  1. Initially, you need to study the information on the board and find your flight in order to understand what is currently happening with it and when boarding begins.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the airport map in order to create a route in your head that you will need to follow.
  3. Before approaching the check-in counter, you should prepare all the necessary documents, which include tickets and a passport. If the whole family is going on a flight, it is better to submit all the documents at once, rather than registering for everyone separately.
  4. Passengers flying business class are served at a special counter where service takes place out of turn.

What to do when you have free time

Today, airports offer many different options for passengers to keep themselves busy. These include the following:

  1. Shopping. There are really a lot of different kiosks and shops in the airport building where you can buy various goods or just look at the assortment. Prices are usually very high, due to the almost complete lack of competition.
  2. Opportunity to relax in a cafe.
  3. Read a book, newspaper or magazine. If you don’t want to buy them, you can take them for free at special stands.
  4. Use Wi-Fi to work or just surf the Internet to kill time.
  5. Go to duty free.

For young mothers there is a children's room where you can change the baby's clothes and do all the necessary procedures. Typically, doctors, including pediatricians, work in airport buildings. Therefore, if you have any suspicions about your health condition, you can contact them. Medical care is provided free of charge.

Additional Information

There are no uniform baggage requirements. Therefore, you need to familiarize yourself with them in advance when buying a ticket on a specific airline. It is also worth familiarizing yourself with the requirements for boarding the aircraft in advance. The maximum weight of luggage in some companies may be 50 kilograms. The minimum weight is 20 kg.

It is prohibited to carry:

  1. Various types of gases.
  2. Explosive items and ammunition.
  3. Steel arms.
  4. Materials that can easily catch fire.
  5. Objects with a strong magnetic field.
  6. Mercury.

To prevent the transportation of prohibited substances, you must undergo inspection. It is prohibited to carry water and a number of other items in which you can easily carry prohibited items.

Pregnant women must provide a doctor's certificate confirming their ability to withstand the stress associated with flying.

Thus, in order to be in time for everything, you need to arrive in advance. Registration begins in a couple of hours, and boarding, depending on the size of the airport, takes 40-60 minutes.

Video - 10 secrets about flying on an airplane

Air travelers setting off on the road for the first time in their lives are wondering how to fly an airplane, what the rules and nuances are. Although this is not difficult at all, in order to feel more confident, it is better to stock up on the necessary knowledge and advice on the eve of the flight.

Step-by-step instructions, right up to the end of the journey, have several strictly sequential stages:

  • check-in;
  • baggage check-in;
  • security screening;
  • passport control;
  • waiting for boarding;
  • boarding the aircraft;
  • flight;
  • passport control at the destination airport;
  • baggage claim and exit.
Important! The stages are completed in full only when performing international flights. On domestic flights the procedure has been simplified. In particular, there is no border control of passports.

check-in

To describe how to board a plane step by step, you need to start with registration. So, if a passenger can say to himself: “This is my first time flying on an airplane,” then he already knows that he must arrive at the airport. Moreover, in large cities there may be several airports and terminals. The name of the airport and terminal number are indicated on the ticket, which must be carefully studied.

Having reached the airport, you need to find an electronic board in its hall, which contains information about flights departing in the near future. Usually the scoreboard is placed near the entrance in a visible place. The English version of the name is “Departures”. To get your bearings, you need to look for your flight number in the list, then down the line its current status.

Important! You cannot navigate by the destination airport and departure time. Different flights may depart to the same city, and times sometimes change.

State Meaning Passenger actions
Check-in, Check-in open, Open Registration in progress. You can go to the registration desks, the numbers of which are indicated right there. Usually there are several of them.
Delayed The flight is delayed. The expected departure times are also indicated here. But these are not opening hours for registration; it will start earlier. If the delayed flight time is not listed, you must go to the airline counter to find out more information.
Canceled Flight cancellation. Contact the airline representative, they may offer to fly on a different flight.
Empty column Registration is not yet open due to early passenger arrival. Wait at the airport until check-in opens.
Boarding The flight has begun boarding. Registration is completed. The passenger can contact airline representatives. Some airports have counters for late arrivals. But there is no guarantee that you will still be able to get on the plane.

There are three options for registration:

  • at the registration desk;
  • in the terminal for self-registration;
  • via the Internet from home.

Airport check-in

At the indicated check-in counters, the passenger presents his ticket with his passport. Sometimes, when flying internationally, they check whether you have a visa from the destination country; you may be asked to present a return ticket and even the bank card used to pay for the travel document. The procedure for checking in and boarding a plane with an electronic ticket is no different. The only difference is that at the registration desk you only need to show your passport without presenting a ticket.

After this, the passenger will be given a boarding pass, which contains important information:

  • boarding gate number (Gate);
  • a seat in the aircraft cabin;
  • boarding start hours.
Important! The start time of registration procedures at the airport is 3 hours before departure, the end time is 40 minutes before the departure of the plane.

Transit passengers are issued a boarding document for their connecting flight.

The second way to check in at the airport is at the self-check-in machine. It is necessary to find the terminal of the airline with which the air traveler is flying. It looks like terminals for paying mobile phone bills and other services, only the device will have the airline logo. There you enter your last name, ticket code step by step, you may need to scan your passport, then you are asked to select a seat. A boarding pass will be automatically printed with the same information as issued at the check-in counters.

Through the Internet

Online registration is available even by mobile phone. It opens at different times for different air carriers. At least one day before the plane departs, and for some companies - 1 month. On the airline’s website, you need to find the “Check-in” button or tab and step by step enter the ticket code, personal data, and select the seat you like. The process ends with a printed boarding pass.

You can also print your boarding pass from the airport's electronic terminals or ask for it at the check-in counter.

Important! Any method of electronic check-in is not suitable for travelers flying with animals accompanying disabled people. According to the rules of individual air carriers, it is impossible to check in at the terminals with children under two years of age.

Baggage check-in and hand luggage

Baggage is left at the check-in counters regardless of the check-in method. For passengers who have already checked in online, there are special baggage drop-off counters - “Drop off”, where suitcases are accepted according to an expedited procedure. With the usual check-in method, luggage is accepted at the counters at the same time. The suitcases will be weighed and provided with a special tag. A baggage receipt is also issued to the passenger. It is often stuck on the boarding pass. You can use it to identify your suitcase. The luggage will then be sent to be loaded onto the aircraft via a conveyor belt.

Baggage allowance must be clarified when purchasing a ticket. Hand luggage is also weighed, tagged and returned to the passenger. As a rule, its weight should not exceed 5-8 kg.

What you need to do to avoid problems when checking in your luggage:

  1. Weigh the suitcase and if its weight exceeds the norm, transfer individual items to hand luggage without violating the baggage rules.
  2. Study in advance the rules for transporting fragile and oversized cargo, which must be securely packaged. In this case, you may need to independently take oversized luggage to another counter - “Oversized baggage desk”.

Security screening

At Russian airports, passport control is usually carried out first, followed by security screening. At many foreign airports it’s the other way around: security is inspected first.

Pre-flight screening is a thorough check by airport employees of the passenger’s personal belongings - what is on them and in their hand luggage. Outer clothing, often shoes, belts, watches must be removed and placed on a conveyor belt, which will transport them through the scanning machine. The passenger himself is directed to pass through the metal detector frame.

  1. Take plastic containers, put bags, clothes and other things there, and place them on a conveyor belt.
  2. Check to see if you have any liquids in containers exceeding 100 milliliters in volume, piercing or cutting objects, etc. All this is packed into baggage checked in at the check-in counters. Baby food and vital medications are carried in as exceptions.
  3. A passenger with a pacemaker alerts the security officer. He will be searched in person by an employee of the same gender without going through a metal detector.
Important! During security screening, the passenger must be as serious as possible. Remember that jokes about bombs, weapons, etc. may be perceived as a reason to remove him from the flight.

International flights

The main difference between pre-flight inspection on international flights is customs control. If the passenger does not carry items that are subject to customs declaration, he goes through the “green corridor”.

If there is cash currency (or rubles) in an amount equivalent to 10 thousand US dollars, value, etc., according to the transportation rules, a declaration is filled out in the “red corridor” of customs.

Important! You must fill out the declaration before checking in for your flight.

Passport control

Border control of passports is carried out during international flights. It is usually designated "Passport control". Here you need to show the border guard a passport with a boarding pass. He will check the document against the database to see if the air traveler has any obstacles to leaving the country. Then he will put a stamp there indicating the place and date of crossing the border.

Departure area

In the departure waiting area there are cafes, restaurants, and Duty Free shops, but first you need to:

  1. Find your gate. His number is changed sometimes. This is announced over the loudspeaker and duplicated on information stands.
  2. Remember the location of your Gate and then walk around the pre-flight area, remembering to return strictly to the time indicated on the boarding document (Boarding time).

Landing

When boarding the plane begins, the flight number and the name of the destination airport appear on the board at the desired Gate. The passenger must make sure that this is his flight and show his passport with boarding pass at the exit. The larger side of the coupon will be torn off, the other must be saved until you arrive at your final destination and receive your suitcases.

There are two ways to get on the plane:

  • they are taken by bus to the liner, where they go up the ladder;
  • pass through a telescopic “sleeve” directly into the aircraft.
Important! If delivery to the plane is carried out by bus, it is advantageous not to rush, but to go at the end. The platform bus will be waiting for all passengers. When boarding through the “sleeve”, it is better to go first and calmly find your seat.

On board the aircraft, flight attendants will show where the passenger's seat is located. Personal items are stored on the luggage rack above the seat. If there is no space on the luggage rack above your seat, you can use other shelves.

Now that check-in and boarding are complete, it's time to enjoy your air travel.

Flight

While on board the aircraft, you must follow the general rules and instructions received on the plane:

  • fasten seat belts when required;
  • do not get up from your seats during takeoff and landing, or when entering turbulence zones;
  • no smoking, etc.

Depending on the level of service, breakfast, lunch or dinner, and drinks will be offered. If it is a low-cost airline, then for an additional fee. On board there are newspapers, magazines, sometimes monitors with video entertainment, blankets, and sets for children.

Important! During takeoff and landing, your ears may become blocked. Lollipops or chewing gum will help relieve discomfort.

Passing security upon arrival

After completing the flight, if it was an international flight, there are three types of procedures for obtaining permission to cross the border:

  • visa on arrival;
  • filling out an immigration card;
  • passport control.

Visa on arrival

At the airports of those countries where a similar procedure is provided for Russians, you must go directly from the plane to the “Visa on arrival” counters. Then - the usual passport control.

Filling out the immigration card

For states that require a completed immigration card from each foreigner, a form is most often issued on board the aircraft at the end of the flight. Filled out in English indicating the purpose of the visit to the country, time of stay, hotel or apartment address, arriving flight number, etc. Forms can also be obtained after leaving the plane, at special counters next to passport control.

Passport control

In a number of countries, the passenger goes straight to Passport control. Here you must present a foreign passport with a boarding pass and a visa (obtained in advance or upon arrival), and an immigration card (if required). An airport employee checks documents and marks the border crossing in the passport. Sometimes, in accordance with the rules for entering the country, you will be asked to present return tickets, medical insurance, etc.

Important! Foreigners should queue at the Foreign Passports or All Passports counters.

Receipt of baggage

Following the “Baggage” or “Luggage” signs, the passenger goes to the baggage conveyors. The information board at large airports will indicate the arriving flight number and baggage conveyor number. If there is any doubt about the identity of the suitcase, the numbers of the luggage tag and the one issued to the passenger upon check-in are checked.

Oversized luggage is issued at separate counters.

Important! If a passenger has items that are subject to customs declaration, he passes through the “red corridor” of customs. The rest go through the green one.

Transfer at a transit airport

Flights can be operated with connections using one ticket. A passenger who has received a boarding pass for the next flight at the departure airport follows the signs to the Transfer area.

  1. There is no need to receive luggage upon arrival at the intermediate airport; it will be reloaded onto another airliner.
  2. If the first plane is late, you need to go to the counter where transfer passengers are processed. There you will be asked to take the next flight.
  3. For Schengen countries, passport control is only required if the intermediate and final destinations are in Schengen countries.
  4. If a boarding pass is not issued at the departure airport, it is obtained in the transit area of the intermediate airport. You just need to go to the transfer counter with your ticket and passport.
  5. You need to wait for your flight in the transit area, which is also the departure area, with cafes, restaurants and shops.
Important! When making transfers at the airports of some countries (for example, the USA), a transit visa is required, and passengers are forced to collect luggage.

When two separate tickets for a connecting flight are purchased, different rules apply:

  1. Only one flight can be checked in at the departure point.
  2. Upon arrival at the intermediate airport, you must go through passport control and pick up your luggage. Then the registration and boarding procedure is repeated in full with the second ticket. Sometimes you will need to move to a nearby terminal or even to a different airport.
  3. If you are late for the next flight, the ticket is lost.

For a passenger flying on an airplane for the first time, it is better, if possible, to choose a flight without transfers or with a connection on one ticket.
