Rest in autumn in Crimea. Holidays in Crimea in autumn: water temperature, weather, events. September October November. Sea water temperature

Crimea- with outlines resembling a bunch of grapes, a peninsula embraced by sea waters. Crimea unites the famous resorts of the Black Sea and Azov regions. The eastern coast of the peninsula is a series of rocky capes and cozy bays, along the edges of which juniper forests grow, the southern coast is a chain of resort villages of Alushta and Yalta with princely and imperial palaces in the shade of Mediterranean parks, while the western coast is associated with the wide sandy beaches of the Kalamitsky Bay, brine and healing mud of the resorts Saki and Evpatoria.

The Crimean Peninsula is a resort region with a rich history. The land of the sun, sea and mountains has attracted representatives of different nations for centuries, which is why in the Crimean resorts you can see the ruins of ancient Greek city-states, Genoese fortresses and khan's palaces. The natural potential of the peninsula did not go unnoticed in the Russian Empire - in the 19th century, mud baths were opened on Lake Saki, and the royal paths of Livadia and Gaspra were laid. And today Crimea remains one of the leading resort regions - comfortable resort hotels and modern health centers are lined up along the sandy and pebble beaches of the peninsula.

Geography

The Crimean Peninsula is located in the southwestern part of Russia, more than 1,300 km from the capital. The narrow Kerch Strait separates it from the Taman Peninsula - the western tip of the Krasnodar Territory. The peninsula is washed by the waters of the Azov and Black Seas. From the west and east, wide protrusions of the Tarkhankut and Kerch peninsulas cut into the water surface.

The relief of Crimea is heterogeneous. A range of mountains divided it into western plains and eastern mountainous parts. The mountains stretch from Feodosia to Sevastopol in three parallel ridges, in the folds of which flowering valleys are hidden. The famous Crimean peaks Chatyr-Dag and Ai-Petri are located on the Main Ridge. Many mountains are crowned by undulating treeless plateaus called yaylas. To the east of the Crimean Mountains lie flat steppes.

The coastline of the Crimean peninsula is heavily indented by bays and bays. The largest bays on the Black Sea coast are Feodosia, Kalamitsky and Karkinitsky. In the northeast, the Sea of Azov forms the Kazantip, Arabat and Sivash gulfs. Inland reservoirs of the Crimean peninsula are mountain rivers that form waterfalls, mountain lakes and estuary lakes, which serve as sources of therapeutic mud.

The flora of the Crimean peninsula includes broad-leaved oak and beech forests growing on mountain slopes and sun-gilded steppes. On the southern coast of Crimea, relict trees grow - tall juniper, pistachio and jasmine. The streets of the resorts are lined with Mediterranean flora - rows of cypresses and palm trees, thuja and plane tree. Juniper and Crimean pine grow on rocky ledges. More than half of the peninsula's territory is occupied by arable land and pastures, orchards and vineyards.

Climate

The territory of Crimea covers several climatic zones. The southern coast has a Mediterranean climate of dry subtropics, but most of Crimea (western and eastern coast) belongs to the temperate latitude region. In addition, there are areas of highlands and plains with a continental climate of the steppe zone.

Summer in Crimea is long, hot and sunny. The season begins in mid-May and lasts until mid-October. Daytime temperatures in July often reach 30 °C. Winter in Crimea is warm. The temperature, as a rule, does not fall below 0 °C, and on some fine days it can reach 10-15 °C. This time of year sees the most rainfall.

Traditionally, the best period for a holiday in Crimea is considered to be the “velvet season” - September-early October. At this time it is not as hot as in summer, the sea is warm and the weather is sunny.

Time

Crimea lives according to Moscow time. Time zone – MSK (UTC+3).

Population

According to 2017 estimates, the population of the Crimean Peninsula was 2,340,921 permanent residents (with Sevastopol). Representatives of 175 nationalities live on the peninsula. The most common of them are Russians, Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars, Belarusians, Armenians, and Karaites.

Types of tourism

Crimea has created conditions for active recreation, health and ecological tourism, but the priority tourist destination in the region is beach holidays on the Black and Azov Seas.

Beach holiday. In Crimea there are beaches for every taste. Almost the entire Western Coast of Crimea is occupied by the Kalamitsky Bay, which encircles the waters of the Black Sea like a sandy crescent. Sandy beaches stretch through the resorts of Saki, Evpatoria, Cape Tarkhankut and Chernomorskoye. The entrance to the water here is convenient with a gradual increase in depth, which makes the resorts of the Western Coast of Crimea a popular place for families with children.

The beaches of the east coast are sand and gravel with small shell rock. Resorts such as Feodosia, Koktebel, Sudak and Novy Svet are located here. The southern coast of Crimea is a chain of famous Alushta and Yalta beaches - Professor's Corner, Massandra, Livadia - covered with small pebbles.

In the northeast of the peninsula there are sandy beaches of the Kazantip and Arabat bays, washed by the waters of the Azov Sea.

Wellness holiday. Crimea has a rich heritage in the field of sanatorium and resort treatment. Saki and Evpatoria became the world's first mud resorts, and the healing mud of Lake Saki is used in sanatoriums in many countries around the world. There are springs of mineral waters on the peninsula, and the abundance of sunlight, clean air, saturated with plant phytoncides and sea salts, served to create in the region a developed network of sanatoriums, boarding houses and holiday homes with treatment, and children's health camps.

In recent years, the resort infrastructure of Crimea has been replenished with modern health complexes and spa hotels, which, along with balneotherapy, mud therapy, massage and hardware techniques, offer spa services, beauty treatments, thalassotherapy and Ayurveda.

Health-improving holidays in Crimea are recommended for people with diseases of the respiratory system, nervous system, musculoskeletal system, skin, gynecological and urological diseases.

Leisure. Thanks to the natural terrain in Crimea, such sports as hang gliding and paragliding, mountaineering, mountain climbing, trekking, and caving are developed. Horseback riding, cycling, jeeping tours and buggy riding are extremely popular. The waters of the Black and Azov Seas become a space for sailing on yachts, boats and jet skis, scuba diving, and paddle surfing. Resort centers of Crimea offer the organization of hiking trips, sea fishing and other types of active recreation.

Ecological tourism. Crimea has a huge number of natural monuments and protected areas. Moreover, you can visit them on your own - many resorts are literally adjacent to nature reserves and natural parks, along which fully equipped hiking trails are laid.

Educational, excursion tourism. The peninsula is crisscrossed with hundreds of excursion routes. Every major resort in Crimea boasts historical, architectural and natural monuments. The ruins of ancient fortresses stretch along the eastern shores of the peninsula, royal palaces and residences, botanical gardens and parks are located in Yalta and Alushta, memorials and museums are located in Sevastopol, the ancient streets of Little Jerusalem are preserved on the western coast, and Bakhchisarai is located in the very heart of the peninsula.

Content editor of the KZN.Sobaka.ru website Maya Ishmetova shares the wisdom of living on the peninsula when there are no tourists on it anymore.

For me, I love Crimea much more when summer ends. Tourists are leaving, the heat is subsiding, there are few people, and nothing distracts from contemplating nature and self-immersion. This is where the real relaxation begins.

Crimeanslow

Everything around seems to be slowing down, not even by 33 revolutions, but much more. Even people move more slowly. In Crimea there is no need to rush at all. It's best to slow down and absorb the taste, the air, the colors... September is the velvet season, even if it sounds banal. Besides, this is the time of the grapes. It's cheap and tasty. By the way, it grows in almost every front garden, so in modest quantities, you can pinch it while walking. There is no point in wasting time describing the variety of its varieties. Even though September has already passed, it’s never too late to taste what the vine and the sun bestow here, the warming sun in glasses... There’s no rush.

Spring, summer, autumn, winter and spring again

The coolest thing about off-season Crimea is the weather. Now you have snow there, but here the roses are blooming for the second time, and the sun is shining. But this is only here and now. In Crimea, in general, it is only possible to live here and now. Tomorrow, perhaps, it will be a completely different time of year. And so every day. Imagine, every day is a new time of year. True true.

I remember my first winter voyage to Crimea. I came for the New Year holidays, and in a few days winter, summer, autumn, and spring flashed before my eyes.

We made snowmen in the hills - there were white oases of snow there in places. We saw a fox and a hare, a pair of golden pheasants leisurely walked along the roadway.

The next day we went by car for a change of scenery. There was no snow anywhere anymore, wet stones, rocks, bushes, trees - everything becomes bright, plays with colors - a million shades of gray and red... multi-colored mountains, mountains, mountains, along the serpentine up, down and... seaeeee! Well, I won’t say anything about the sea at all, in Feodosia the Aivazovsky Museum is about the sea there!

On the third day - voila, spring has come and turned green! The hills and mountains became alpine. Fluffy, like baby heads. The grass ant took and grew within a day and painted everything fluoro green. And then it was summer, and there was sun, and flowers were blooming, and it was hot, and wearing a T-shirt in January - yoooooooo. And, suddenly, bang! - winter! But we know that this will not last long...

What to do?

What to do in autumn and winter in Crimea? Believe me, there is somewhere to roam after the end of the beach pop.

The cafes are open, and even in winter, you can sip a cappuccino or an indecently inexpensive dessert in a bucket, admiring how chestnuts fall onto the sidewalk with a savory plop. Well, this is in the fall, and in the winter...

In January, as I already said, you can both sculpt snowmen and sunbathe, and in February the trees are already starting to bloom. And they continue to do this until June. It’s also great to feed birds at sea in winter. Seagulls are pop, it's cool to feed the swans here! In winter, all city beaches are covered in snow from white wings. And not completely white - “ugly ducklings” have brownish plumage. But both adults, gracefully bending their marvelous necks, and young animals, childishly hastily, without embarrassment, take the bread directly from their hands. In my opinion, it is unforgettable and cannot be boring.

What else to do - walk, breathe, collect rose hips and hawthorn. Light a fire on the shore and fry something on it. Fishing from the rocks until December (later the fish are already asleep), painting seascapes in oils, riding a horse, driving a car...

Regarding car trips, in places like Yalta, renting a car is not a problem. You can do it on your own. In Crimea, everything is close - an hour or two - at any end. And we can talk endlessly about how different Crimea is. True, serpentines can be dangerous when fogs come, then on foot you can admire the fogs and how the clouds lie on the mountains. And in the snow, walk along the embankment in Yalta and, looking at the palm trees in the snow, remember the film “Assa”.

What to do in Crimea out of season? - admire endlessly...

1. GORGEOUS WEATHER

September is an amazing time to relax. The 40-degree heat wave that had been in Crimea throughout August has finally subsided. The thermometers stopped at +20…+26 degrees. The weather is simply gorgeous - not hot and not cold! The air temperature is very comfortable both for walking in nature and for sunbathing. You can easily sunbathe during the day and not worry about getting sunstroke or severe burns. At the same time, the sea is still very warm and until the end of the month, unless heavy rains fall, and weather forecasters do not predict them, it will not cool down. The sea water temperature is now +20…+24 degrees. The warmest water is in Alushta, Yalta, Sevastopol, a little cooler in Evpatoria and Chernomorskoye.

Now is the best time for swimming and sunbathing. The temperature of air and sea water is almost the same. The body does not experience temperature stress - overheating or hypothermia, notes general practitioner Irina Samoilova. - September is a great time to improve the health of both adults and children.

The velvet period lasts in Crimea until October.

2. CHEAP HOUSING

In addition to excellent weather, the velvet season has many other advantages. For example, inexpensive housing. And not somewhere far from the sea, but on the first line! Just imagine, you are sitting in a comfortable wicker chair or in a hammock on the balcony and enjoying the sunrise or listening to beautiful music while admiring the moonlit path, or watching splashing dolphins and seagulls soaring in the air while drinking aromatic coffee. Such a pleasure on the South Coast, which is the most expensive and respectable region, will cost you from 400 rubles per person! This is the cost of a room in a guest house or mini-hotel in the private sector. You will have at your disposal a cozy room with a TV, a fan, and if you’re lucky, even an air conditioner (but in September you don’t really need it!). The same room with breakfast will cost from 500-600 rubles per person.

Compared to the high season - mid-July - August - prices have fallen by 20-30 percent. Considering that this year they did not rise much and were at the level of 2016, the offers for accommodation are simply fabulous,” she told us Member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea Lyudmila Babiy. - Sanatoriums offer such conditions that one can only envy. Accommodation, food and treatment will cost from 1,500 rubles per person. For comparison, in the summer it cost twice as much. Many sanatoriums have a promotion in September - single occupancy for the price of an additional bed in the room. No additional charges for single occupancy.

Three-four-star hotels, the cost of which includes full board and use of swimming pools, children's rooms and many other services, will cost you from 1400-1500 rubles per person! In August, prices started from 2500-3000 rubles. All-inclusive accommodation in September starts from 2500 in the resort villages of the Bakhchisarai region and from 3250 in Greater Yalta.

By the way, during the velvet season it is best to look for housing in resort towns where infrastructure is developed . The fact is that in small villages in mid-September the season already ends, cafes, shops, pharmacies are slowly closing, but in the cities life is still bustling.

3. DISCOUNTS ON FLIGHTS

In the summer, tourists complained about high prices for air travel. They repeated in unison that they would be glad to go to Crimea, but the travel is too expensive. In July and August, the price of a flight from Moscow to Simferopol reached 9,000-12,000 rubles per person! Now, for example, on September 10 you can fly to Crimea for 3,300, and on September 20 the cheapest ticket can now be taken for 2,650 rubles.

Airfare prices play a huge role. In the summer, a tourist, for the money he paid for a round-trip flight, could live for a week at his own pleasure in Yevpatoria or Sudak, says Lyudmila Babiy. - Not everyone was able to buy such expensive tickets. This problem has now been resolved.

If you are going to Crimea by car, September will please you with the absence of traffic jams and queues at the Kerch crossing. You will spend no more than an hour on everything in the port.

4. LOW PRICES FOR BERRIES AND FRUIT

In September, the shelves of shops and markets are filled with cheap vegetables and fruits. And not imported ones, but local ones! If in July tourists said that prices for strawberries, raspberries, peaches and grapes were “biting”, then during the velvet season of vitamins you will eat for the year ahead. Grapes can now be bought from 50 rubles per kilogram, and not small ones, but good, large ones. You will find peaches on the highway at a price of 30 rubles, in the markets - from 60 rubles, raspberries - 250 rubles per tray weighing half a kilogram, figs in the range of 150-250 rubles per kilo, in August they asked for 500 rubles for it, watermelons - 15-18 rubles per kilo, melons - 20-25 rubles.

5. THE CROWD OF TOURISTS HAVE DISAPPEARED

The velvet season can be called a period of calm and solitude. And that's why.

- The music in the bars became quieter. Noisy groups of students who love to party all night in clubs have left to study. So the noise coming from entertainment venues in the summer will not disturb you.

- The beaches are noticeably deserted. Families vacationing with children, and this is the bulk of tourists, went home - school began. During the day, you can easily find a place near the seashore.

- Take cool photos. The crowds of tourists have dispersed, and this means that your friends will envy your photographs against the backdrop of the Swallow’s Nest or the Livadia Palace and other Crimean attractions. The photo will be of you, majestic buildings and gorgeous landscapes - and no strangers always getting into the frame.

- You will get to the museums without waiting in line. Walking through Crimean palaces when there are not many tourists is a real pleasure. Museum curators will be happy to share the stories and secrets of rare exhibits.

Several years ago I was in Crimea, in the city of Alushta. In September, the sea, to be honest, was quite cool up to +20 degrees, I swam only a couple of times. But there was no longer the sweltering summer heat and there was an opportunity to see the Crimean sights. The Valley of Ghosts, the Yalta Zoo, the cable car in Miskhor, a boat trip from Alushta to the Swallow's Nest, the famous Alushta Dolphinarium..... And the Crimean Mountains, which seem to encircle the entire peninsula... Crimea, I love you!!!

I adore Crimea because of its stunning, incomparable and unique beauty; I have never seen such enchanting nature in any other country. Our family often vacations on the southern coast of Crimea. This year we decided to visit the city of Koktebel. The weather was gorgeous during the day +25, in the evening +17, the air was soft, the sun was not hot. The water in the sea was a little cool, but the children didn’t notice it, they splashed around all day, and you couldn’t get them out of the water.

I was completely unlucky to schedule a vacation for the summer, so I went on vacation to Yalta in October, so to speak, for the velvet season. Of course, it was no longer possible to buy. The water temperature in the sea was 20-22 degrees. But I got a little tanned and tried to stay on the beach as long as possible. The evenings were especially cool. I took a demi-season jacket with me and every evening this jacket helped me out. It also rained in the mornings for several days in a row and a cool wind blew.

It was a wonderful holiday in every sense of the word. Still, a vacation during the velvet season is worthy of a “5” rating. There are no large crowds of vacationers on the beach, housing prices have become moderate, and most importantly, the weather is pleasant. The sun no longer burns your skin, you don’t have to hide in the shade or go to your house. The water is still warm (25 degrees). It rained lightly for several days, but it didn’t stop us from having a good time at the water park.

We vacationed in Alushta with the whole family in September 2018, stayed there for 12 days. We went to Crimea for the first time, chose Alushta on the recommendation of friends who moved to the peninsula for permanent residence. We chose September because during this period the outflow of tourists already begins, prices for housing and everything else drop slightly, and the weather is still quite suitable for lying on the beach. Of course, there was no intense heat in September, but that’s all the better. On the hottest day it was about +28, on average the temperature was around +26 degrees. It was cool in the evenings and nights. The sea was also warm. At the end of our vacation, in mid-September, it was cloudy, but warm, and it rained several times. I think that September is very suitable for a holiday in Crimea: very comfortable weather without wild heat, fewer people, lower prices, a lot of fruits and vegetables.

Traditionally, the most desired vacation is the one during the hot summer months. When, if not in summer, is it time to go to the sea, sun and beaches? But if suddenly dreams of a week in July spent on the seashore turn into a weekend in October, you shouldn’t ruin your plans. You can enjoy the delights of a holiday by the sea in the fall, when you come to the sunny resorts of Crimea.

What are the benefits of holidaying in Crimea in the fall?

An incredible combination of rich natural colors of autumn, comfortable weather, gentle sea, and a large amount of delicious fresh fruit makes Crimean holidays in September-October and November a tempting alternative to foreign resorts. Vacationers who visited the peninsula in the fall call their vacation nothing less than “ideal” and no longer want to come here at other times of the year.

There are many reasons why you should visit Crimea in autumn.

1. Spacious beaches

With the end of August, families with children return home, noisy camps and youth incendiary discos fall asleep until next summer. But this does not make the beaches any less attractive, nor does the sea water become colder. The problems of finding free space, lack of sun loungers and queues for beach equipment disappear. Now absolutely everyone can find a place under the hot Crimean sun.

2. Low prices

Along with the outflow of tourists, prices for housing and food begin to fall. The low holiday season is coming. The cost of rooms in luxury hotels is becoming acceptable for more vacationers. The abundance of vegetables and fruits allows traders to reduce prices, so you can eat as much as you like without denying yourself anything. Holidays in Crimea in the fall are now a budget option.

3. No queues

Autumn allows you to make your cultural program richer and richer in impressions: you don’t need to stand in endless lines to visit museums and palaces or wait for seats on a tour bus. Sights are open for inspection at the same time as in summer, bus travel is no longer associated with stuffiness and heat that is difficult for many to bear, and groups of visitors do not interfere with each other.

4. Unique events

In September-October, various public festivals are held, the most popular being the vibrant flower festival. By becoming a visitor, you can recharge yourself with positive emotions for the entire vacation.

5. Silence

For lovers of a calm and measured holiday in Crimea, autumn is the time to go here. The crowds of vacationers disappear, taking away the noise and bustle, allowing you to relax and spend your holiday alone with nature and your thoughts. It is best to choose small resort villages for this - Gurzuf, Miskhor, Simeiz - tourist life freezes here already in mid-September. But in the large resort cities of the South Coast - Yalta, Alushta, Sudak - it continues until the onset of calendar winter.

Weather in autumn Crimea

Soft, warm and calming – this is how everyone who comes to Crimea after the end of the high season will see the autumn weather. Until the beginning of November, you can enjoy swimming in the clear water of the Black Sea, sunbathing on the now more spacious golden beaches, without fear of getting a sunburn. The autumn sun of Crimea warms just as in the summer months, but there is no longer that sweltering midday heat, you can breathe easily and freely. The sea, heated over the summer, cools slowly, giving the joy of water treatments to those who for some reason could not come here in the summer.

Most of the autumn on the peninsula can boast of rare short-term precipitation; real heavy rains come to this tourist paradise only at the end of October-November.

A pleasant surprise awaits those who visit Crimea in the fall. It is at this time of year that the unique nightglow algae begins to grow rapidly and bloom. It got its name due to its ability to emit a luminescent glow at night. Everyone, without exception, should see this incredibly exciting and at the same time romantic natural phenomenon.

Holidays in September

Despite the onset of calendar autumn, summer continues to reign on the peninsula. The “velvet season” begins with its beautiful sunny weather and inviting warm sea. While it is already raining in the rest of the country, in Crimea you can still sunbathe under the bright rays of the sun.

The daytime temperature is at a comfortable level and amounts to +23…+26? C. In the evening, these indicators drop to +15...+17? C, so for walks at sunset you will have to dress a little warmer.

There are fewer tourists on the beach in autumn, but this is not at all due to the lack of swimming opportunities. On the contrary, the sea becomes even more gentle than before. The water temperature of +22…+24? C will make you forget that summer is over. As before, rentals of water skis, scooters and other equipment are available on the beaches, and children's water slides are open.

Crimean September is not inferior to the summer months in terms of quality of recreation, and sometimes surpasses them in terms of comfort.

Holidays in October

The October weather is becoming more like the beginning of the usual autumn. The air temperature drops slightly: +20…+23 ?С during the daytime and +8…+10 ?С at night. It’s still warm, but the first autumn breezes are already appearing, and in the second half of the month short-term rains begin to fall. The summer heat is giving way.

The sea, warmed by the hot summer sun, is in no hurry to give up heat. Vacationers who arrived in Crimea in the first half of October can still enjoy swimming before the onset of a long, cold winter. At this time, the water temperature remains suitable for entertainment and remains at +20...+22? C until the twenties of October, after which it begins to decline.

Throughout October, Crimea is waiting for tourists and is ready to provide them with a good rest on the seashore.

Holidays in November

In November, most city residents already wear winter clothes and enjoy the first snow. And real autumn is just beginning to reign on the peninsula. At first it is a pleasant, warm and sunny Indian summer with daytime air temperatures of +12...+17? C and rare night frosts with a decrease in heat indicators to +4? C. Then the weather worsens. Rainy, dank and cold days become prevalent and fogs appear.

With rare exceptions, you will no longer meet people who want to plunge into the sea. The water becomes cold, with an average of +15? C, large waves, even storms, appear more and more often on the sea. It’s also unlikely that you’ll be able to get a beautiful tan. The beaches are finally emptying and the industry infrastructure is leaving for the autumn-winter holidays.

Most nightlife centers and health centers close in the fall, but museums and exhibition centers are still ready to receive guests. The hot season is coming for lovers of walking in the forest and picking mushrooms - November is rich in all possible types of this delicacy.

Crimea is a unique holiday destination. Beautiful at any time of the year, the peninsula is always ready to receive guests.
